Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Shannon Peterman, 65, of Rossville, GA, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Dodd officiating. Burial was in the Miller cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Peterman, an employee of Rossville Paving Company, died Thursday, August 31, 2000, in Rossville, GA.
Born July 25, 1935, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Walton Edgar and Lizzie Avo Watkins Peterman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Peterman; and a grandson, Daniel Peterman.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen LeVan Peterman, Rossville, GA; a son, Gary Peterman, East Ridge, GA; a daughter, Janice Sartin, Rossville, GA; a brother, Bill Peterman, Allons; a sister, Ilene Maynord, Donaldson; and five grandchildren.
Eldon Carlton York
Funeral services for Mr. Eldon Carlton York, 63, of Moss, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2000, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina. Burial was in the Moss cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. York, a sawmill worker, died Wednesday, August 30, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born November 7, 1936, in Clay County, he was the son of Ova Edith Dodson York of Moss and the late Cortez York. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Daffo Adams, and a granddaughter, MaKayla Ruby.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Dorothy Rhoton York, Moss; seven sons, Lloyd York, Stanton, KY, Alvin York, Dry Ridge, KY, Jessie York, Ricky York, and Steve York, all of Celina, Stanley York, Moss, and Willard York, Gainesboro; a daughter, Linda Ruby, Celina; a step-son, Willie Daniels, Burkesville, KY; five brothers, Domer York, Red Boiling Springs, and Freeman York, David York, Homer York, and Rexel York, all of Moss; and four sisters, Dimple Westmoreland, Neldine Kendall, Mildred York, and Reba Smith, all of Moss; 27 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Steven Edward "Steve" Huddleston
Funeral services for Mr. Steven Edward "Steve" Huddleston, 52, of the Rickman community, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Lyle Anderson and Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Huddleston, a purchasing agent for Hutchinson in Byrdstown, died Saturday, September 2, 2000, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina.
Born September 22, 1947, in Overton County, he was the son of R.G. and Oleta (Robbins) Huddleston of Livingston. He attended Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Teresa Huddleston, Rickman; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven Huddleston, Nashville, Chris and Misty Huddleston, Hardy's Chapel community, and Russ Deas, Livingston; and two brothers, Carl Huddleston, Livingston, and Kent Huddleston, Cookeville.
Pallbearers were Randell Smith, James Huddleston, Troy Cantrell, Gary Almonrode, Bobby Robbins, and Bill Robbins. Honorary pallbearers were Brad Huddleston, Matt Huddleston, Jamie Drawdy, Shawn Crabtree, Beau Huddleston, and Cody Drawdy.
Clifton Eugene Moredock
Funeral services for Mr. Clifton Eugene Moredock, 72, of Livingston, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Coil officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Moredock, a machinist, died Friday, September 1, 2000, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Born March 13, 1928, in Clay County, he was the son of Tom Moredock and Hester (Smith) Moredock Hensley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Curtis Moredock, Cleston Moredock, C.B. Hensley, and Clarence Hensley.
He was a member of the Livingston Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Moredock, Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Dale Klein, Livingston; two sisters, Minnie Balthrop, Goodlettsville, and Elise Poindexter, Celina; and a granddaughter, Jacki Hall, Livingston.
Marcia Ann Harvey
Memorial services for Mrs. Marcia Ann Harvey, 35, of Monroe, will be held at a later date. Speck Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Harvey, a construction worker in house construction, died Sunday, September 3, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born August 17, 1965, in Anderson, IN, she was the daughter of Doris Jo Ann (Dearing) Rector of Anderson, IN, and the late Joseph Conrad Rector.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Aaron Harvey, Monroe; three daughters, Tresnie Patterson and Kristina Patterson, both of Indiana, and Chelcy Jones, Tennessee; five brothers, Timothy Lee Rector, Daniel Joseph Rector, Jeffrey Neal Rector, and Scott David Rector, all of Indiana, and Mark Vincent Rector, California; and a sister, Karen Thomas, Mt. Juliet.
Elsie M. Allred
Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie M. Allred, 97, of Lake Worth, FL, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Thomas officiating. Burial was in Hatcher Hall cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Allred died Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Avante in Lake Worth. She was a homemaker.
Born December 19, 1904, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Gertrude (Reagan) York. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred Allred.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Archie and Elsie Allred, Mobile, AL, and Ray and Janet Allred, Lake Worth; a brother, Bill York, Detroit, MI; a sister, Sue Pearson, Taylor, AL; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donnie Allred, Carl Allred, Allen Allred, Steven Allred, Ron Allred, and Ron Streeter.
Ather E. Brown
Funeral services for Mr. Ather E. Brown, 83, of Sparta, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. Burial was in Saylors cemetery with Hunter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brown died Wednesday, Sept. 18 at his home.
Survivors include five sons, Thomas Brown, Eddie Brown, and Steve Brown, all of Cookeville, Jeff Brown, Livingston, and Mike Sorter, Indiana; two brothers, Oscar Brown, Sparta, and Ed Brown, Nashville; and three sisters, Rose Beulah Smith, Hilham, Josie McCarmack, Indiana, and Marion Fannon, Ohio.
James Kelly "Kell" Brown
Funeral services for Mr. James Kelly "Kell" Brown, 66, of Alpine, were conducted Monday, Sept. 9 in the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Ledbetter of Indiana officiating. Burial was in Falling Springs cemetery with Rickman-Hall Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Born January 2, 1936, on Bee Tree Mountain, he was the son of the late Curtis and Mabel (Boman) Brown. He and his brother owned and managed Big Springs Grocery Store in Monroe for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Jean Brown, Allred; a son, Tracy Brown, Alpine; a daughter, Gina Brown, Rickman; two special daughters, Carolina Dunham and Samantha Harper, both of Allred; two sisters, Roena Phillips, Hanging Limb, and Reba Cantrell, Dry Hollow; four brothers, Roscoe Brown, Ohio, M.C. Brown, Livingston, Bobby Brown, Monroe, and Eugene Brown, Cookeville; four grandchildren, Matthew Hall and Dalton Hall, both of Rickman, and Cameron Brown and Avery Brown, both of Alpine; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers were Mr. Brown's nephews, Lavon Cantrell, Darrel Cantrell, Jeremy Cantrell, Wayne Cantrell, Scott Brown, Randy Phillips, Tony Cantrell, Brian Ledbetter, and Barry Ledbetter.

Willie Calvin Colson
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Calvin "W.C." Colson, 71, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Ken Collins and Bro. Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Colson died Monday, Sept. 16 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a school bus driver for the Clay County School System and a member of the Willow Grove Church of Christ.
Born April 19, 1931, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Arville and Bertie Mae (Wright) Colson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth (Groce) Colson; and a sister, Jewell Ellen Reagan.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and James Sells, Allons; a sister and brother-in-law, Nettie and J.T. Daniels, Allons; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jerry Daniels, Dale Reagan, Tony Johnson, James Reagan, James Carl Reagan Jr., and Raymond Colson.
Willie Verble Crabtree

Mrs. Crabtree died Monday, Sept. 16 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.
Born March 23, 1913, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Arthur "Pete" and Josie (Taylor) Geesling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Crabtree; two sons, Harold Crabtree and Franklin Crabtree; a grandson, Ronnie Crabtree; two brothers; three sisters; and a daughter-in-law.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Evelyn Crabtree, Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Dwight Fox, Gainesboro; a daughter-in-law, Dorise Crabtree, Hilham; three brothers, Ernest Geesling, Douglas Geesling, and Edison Geesling, all of Hilham; a sister, Clura McCormick, Livingston; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Jimmy R. "Jim" Howell

Mr. Howell died Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired inside plant manager of Twin Lakes Telephone Cooperation, a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, and a former Jaycee.
Born December 20, 1938, in Putnam County, he was the son of Wilma (Minchey) Howell of Gainesboro and the late Clester Mell Howell.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Carol Howell, Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Luis Loza, Cookeville; four brothers, W.C. Howell, Larry Howell, and Bruce Howell, all of Gainesboro, and Wayne Howell, Rickman; a sister, Shirley Smith, Gainesboro; and his father and mother-in-law, Matthew and Bea Nevins, Livingston.

Lyle Denton Kirkpatrick

Mr. Kirkpatrick died Monday, Sept. 16 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a merchant at Kirkpatrick Hardware and member of the Church of Christ.
Born June 15, 1917, he was the son of the late Talby Fowler and Margaret Susan (Denton) Kirkpatrick.
Survivors include a nephew, Michael Kirkpatrick, Celina; and four nieces, Emily step-hens, Cincinnati, OH, Lela Faye Barley, Gamaliel, KY, Betty Brown, Cookeville, and Margaret Susan Arms, Celina.
Kennith Randall Maynard

Born August 28, 1947, in Clinton County, he was the son of the late Carbin and Myrtle (Whittaker) Maynard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Maynard.
Survivors include a daughter, Tracy Nierste, Indianapolis, IN; a sister and brother-in-law, Fredia and Glen Clark, Cookeville; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Janice Maynard, Sparta; two grandchildren, Loren Nierste and Grace Nierste, both of Indianapolis; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
