Funeral services for Mr. Thedford Duane Howard, 89, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Austin Flowers officiating. Burial was in the Red Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Howard died Friday, February 2, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a chair maker, a member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church in Pickett County, and a former United Baptist preacher.
Born April 26, 1911, in Overton County, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Rena (Jackson) Howard.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Howard, Monroe; a son and daughter-in-law, M.D. and Carolyn Howard, Monroe; a grandson and his wife, Donald and Levada Howard, Rickman; a granddaughter, Christie Howard, Livingston; and a great grandson, Andy Howard.
Pallbearers were James Bass, Bill Norrod, Richard Palk, Ronnie Bull, Marty Bull, and Donnie Howard.
Balis Gore
Funeral services for Mr. Balis Gore, 79, of Mesquite, TX, were conducted Wednesday, January 31, 2001.
Born January 13, 1922, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Harvey and Ollie (Watkins) Gore. He was the step-son of the late Georgie Gore. In addition to his parents and step-father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda; three brothers, Gordon Gore, Gurstel Gore, and Bethel Gore; and two sisters, Mozella (Gore) Pennington and Melba (Gore) Savage.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, Mesquite; a son, Bruce, Arkansas; a daughter, Judy Pennington, Mesquite; five sisters, Margaret Pennington, Lorene Lawson, Olene Ledbetter, Helen Fletcher, and Junie Richardson, all of Livingston; and five brothers, Harold Gore, Howard Gore, Brent Gore, Bruce Gore, all of Livingston, and Bobby Gore, Alabama.
Dillard Gaw
Funeral services for Mr. Dillard Gaw, 91, of Algood, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville. Burial was in the Crestlawn cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Gaw died Monday, January 29, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a mechanic with Ford Motor Company.
Born August 13, 1909, in Overton County, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clarcie Jane (Allen) Gaw, 10 brothers and sisters, and an infant daughter.
Survivors include a special niece, Jean Bilbrey, Livingston; a special nephew, Mark Bilbrey, Livingston; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Adam David Allred
Funeral services for Mr. Adam David Allred, 21, of Celina, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2001, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina. Burial was in Fitzgerald cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Allred died Friday, January 26, 2001, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. He was a Deputy Sheriff and K-9 handler for the Clay County Sheriff's Department, a member of the Celina Fire Department, a member of the Clay County Rescue Squad, and was of the Baptist faith.
Born October 3, 1979, in Gainesboro, he was the son of David Allred of Celina and Tammy Russell of Cookeville.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, Kyle Russell, Cookeville; three sisters, Brooke Allred, Cookeville, Candace Russell, Cookeville, and Nastasia Allred, Celina; and his grandparents, Andrew and Joyce Davis, Celina, and Bert Hestand Jr., Moss. Pallbearers were his fellow officers.
James E. Adcock
Funeral services for Mr. James E. Adcock, 84, of Westland, MI, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Davis officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Adcock died Thursday, Feb. 21 in Garden City, MI. He was a machine operator for Ford Motor Company.
Born May 8, 1917, in DeKalb County, he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Elizabeth Ann (Robinson) Adcock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Etta Emerton, Vera Victory, and Beulah Manning; and a brother, Robert Adcock.
Survivors include his wife, Emojean (Ray) Adcock, Westland, MI; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward and Judy Adcock, Holland, OH, and James and Machelle Adcock, Westland, MI; two daughters and a son-in-law, J. Carol and Greg McKay, Livonia, MI, and Peggy Ann Adcock, Westland, MI; three brothers, Bill Adcock, Murfreesboro, Odie Adcock, Nashville, and Frank Adcock, McMinnville; two sisters, Lera James, Castroville, TX, and Veda Clark, Sparta; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Grace Norene Hensley
Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Norene Hensley, 85, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, from Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Charles McCaskey officiating. Burial was in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens with Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hensley died Saturday, Feb. 23 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a housewife, a Red Cross volunteer at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, and she was active in the Women's Missionary Society. She also served as a teacher's assistant for several years. She was a member of Cookeville Art Society and the Home Demonstration Club.
Born June 20, 1916, in Cookeville, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Norene Vantrease. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt and guardian, Nora Pointer.
Survivors include her husband, Claude Hensley, Cookeville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ron and Georgia Hensley, Cookeville, and Harold Hensley, Sparta; four grandchildren, Greg Hensley, Gary Hensley, Frankie Hensley, and Kim Ficken; and a great grandchild, Garrison Hensley. Pallbearers were Greg Hensley, Pee Wee Bryant, Gary Hensley, Kevin Wilmoth, Frankie Hensley, and Larry Wilmoth.
Daisy Belle (McMillin) Elder
Memorial services for Mrs. Daisy Belle (McMillin) Elder, 77, of Portland, OR, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, from the chapel of Holman's Funeral Home in Portland, OR.
Mrs. Elder died Sunday, Feb. 24 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Benton and Bonnie (Poindexter) McMillin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Hubert B. Elder; and a sister, Katherine (McMillin) Hale.
Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Wendy and Stephen Ott, Dallas,OR, and Dixie and Patrick Eckford, Portland, OR; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Wilmon Burr Brown
Funeral services for Mr. Wilmon Burr "Hoss" Brown, 82, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Loftis officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brown died Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a construction worker, a member of Netherland Church of Christ, the VFW, and a Veteran of World War II serving in the Navy.
Born August 11, 1919, in Clay County, he was the son of the late James and Etta (Fletcher) Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Langford and Ruth Brown; and four brothers, Fred Brown, Robert Brown, Van Brown, and John Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores (Ventola) Brown, Rickman; a sister, Mildred Maynord, Rickman; a brother, Luther Brown, Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Randy Maynord, Truman Brown, Kevin Cantrell, Robert Hugh Brown, Edd Melton, and Calvin Bilbrey.
Louis Dewayne Bilbrey
Funeral services for Mr. Louis Dewayne Bilbrey, 60, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, from the chapel of Byrdstown Memorial Funeral Home with Kim Woodson and Rosie Woodson officiating. Burial was in Bolestown cemetery in Alpine with Byrdstown Memorial Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Bilbrey died Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was brick layer in construction and a member of the Local Labor Union 1112 of Muncie, IN.
Born March 12, 1941, in Wilder, he was the son of the late William and Opal (Boles) Bilbrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene K. (Bilbrey) Bruss.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Cummings) Bilbrey, Byrdstown; four children, Louis D. Mary E. Brown
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Brown, 79, of Nashville, were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at the Hadley Chapel of Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home in Old Hickory, with Bro. Mrs. Brown died Sunday, July 14 at St. Thomas Hospital. She was a housewife.
Born January 6, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Newton and Ermine Catherine (Claborn) Dailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Dailey, Hubert Dailey, and Arvis Ray Dailey; and two sisters, Lara Ethel Dailey and Delma McWhorter.
Survivors include her husband, Edgar Brown, Nashville; three sons, Raymond Brown, Leonard Brown, and James Brown; two daughters, Dorothy Hewitt and Reba DeJesus; seven brothers, Herman Dailey, Roy Dailey, Howard Dailey, Donald Dailey, Willie Dailey, Robert Dailey, and Clifton Dailey; two sisters, Thelma Gore and Bulah Morgan; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.

Melissa Renee (Daniels) Cope
Funeral services for Mrs. Melissa Renee (Daniels) Cope, better known as "Missy", 35, of Byrdstown, were conducted Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, from the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home with Randy Tompkins officiating. Burial was in Cope cemetery with Crestlawn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. Cope died Sunday, Aug. 4. She was a dental assistant. Born February 16, 1967, in Hartford City, IN, she was the daughter of Jackie and Mary (Cross) Daniels.
Survivors in addition to her parents include two daughters, Brittany Ann Stovall, Byrdstown, and Ericha Rose Stovall, Guam; a son, Ethan Christopher Stovall, Byrdstown; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Randy Daniels, Joe Daniels, and Mickey and Regina Daniels, all of Monroe, and Michael and Toni Daniels, Pall Mall; and a grandmother, Ruby Cross, Byrdstown.

Carl Cecil Crabtree
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Cecil Crabtree, 74, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Glenn Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Flatt Creek cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Crabtree died Friday, Aug. 9 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a lumber grader and affiliated with the Church of Christ. Born January 20, 1928, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Jerry Whit and Laura (Gore) Crabtree. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian (Peek) Crabtree, Livingston; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Betty Crabtree and Jerry and Sharon Crabtree, all of Livingston; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Ronnie Burchfield, Marlene and Bruce McDonald, and Anita and Johnny Poston, all of Livingston; a brother, Carlos Crabtree, Livingston; two sisters, Alma Ward, Livingston, and Lucille Mullins, Sparta; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Smith died Friday, Aug. 9 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and a member of Holly Springs Church of Christ.
Born November 25, 1911, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John M. and Nancy A. (Ward) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Osta Sidney (Ogletree) Smith.
Survivors include two nephews, Fred Smith, Johnson City, and Mike Smith, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were R.L Ogletree, James Heady Ogletree, Mike Smith, Fred Smith, Junior Fleming, and Mark Allred.
Emily Eliza Harper

Born December 18, 1923, in Cedar Key, FL, she was the daughter of the late Richard Frank Dees and Mary Etta (Ogden) Freeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gabe Allen Harper; a daughter, Estelle Megar; and a son, Gabe Allen Harper Jr.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, David Harper, Boaz, AL, Steven and Dorless Harper, Cabot, AR, and John and Jennifer Harper, Ft.
