Masonic services for Mr. Denzil Harold Gore, 65, of Allons, were conducted at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Copeland officiating.
Mr. Gore died Tuesday, Dec. 3 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a warrant writer and a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was also a Shriner, affiliated with Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Livingston Masonic Lodge 259.
Born March 4, 1937, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Gordon and Headith (Hunter) Gore. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Gore of Allons; five sons, Rickie Gore and Troy Gore, both of Allons, Roy Gore of Livingston, Randy Gore of Alpine, and Travis Gore of Monroe; a brother, Denver Gore of Allons; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jamie Ledford, David Parrelsol, Adam Smith, Dodd Scott, Scotty Walker, Allen Roberts, Billy Oliver, and Wayne Huckeby. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Randall Stockton, Rhonda Roberts, Jamie Marinich, Stephen R. Flowers, and Cindy Collins.
RICKY HAMILTON
Funeral services for Mr. Ricky Hamilton, 44, of Rickman, were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home. Burial was in Netherland cemetery with Bro. Allen Steele officiating.
Mr. Hamilton died Monday, Dec. 2 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Born September 1, 1958, in Overton County, he was the son of the late James Arlo and Teola (Breeding) Hammock.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hamilton of Rickman; a daughter, Crystal Desormeaux of Castle Rock, CO; a son, Dustin Binkley of Rickman; a sister, Janet Flowers of Livingston; and two brothers, Jeffery Hamilton and Randy Hamilton, both of Livingston. Pallbearers were Jamie Flowers, Scott Coleman, Joe Lee, Scotty Hamilton, Todd Rose, and Dustin Binkley.
LARRY HOBBS
Mr. Larry Hobbs, 53, of Livingston, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at his home. He was a sawmill worker and a Navy veteran. Born December 9, 1949, in English, IN, he was the son of Laura (Gabbard) Hobbs Sturgill of English and the late Levi Allen Hobbs.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Debra (Stevens) Hobbs of Livingston; three sons, Larry Junior Hobbs II of New Middleton, IN, and Erick Hobbs and Quentin Hobbs, both of La Grange, KY; his step-father, Cloyd Sturgill of English; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Janie Forbes of Leavenworth, IN, and Martha and Carl McAdams and Stacy Melton, all of English; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Stella Sturgill of Paoli, IN; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Hobbs had chosen cremation. No services are planned at this time. Goff Funeral Home of Monterey was in charge of the arrangements.
ARZIE MELTON
Funeral services for Miss Arzie Melton, 85, of Crossville, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in St. John cemetery with Bro. Dallas Catron officiating.
Miss Melton died Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Country Place Health Care Center in Crossville. She was of the Baptist faith. Born January 15, 1917, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late James Curtis and Lizzie (Roame) Melton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a half-sister, Geneva Burris; two brothers, Finnis Melton and Robert Melton; and three half-brothers, Charles Melton, J.P. Melton, and Robert Melton.
Survivors include two sisters, Margarett and Bernadine of California; seven half-sisters, Mary Stallcup, Edna Kidd, and Joyce Catron, all of Louisville, KY, Beatrice Childers of Vine Grove, KY, Donna Silbert of Zionsville, IN, Linda Sells of Monroe, and Glinda Garrett of Livingston; three half-brothers, Sammy Melton and David Melton, both of Livingston, and Murl Melton of Allons; and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Lynn Garrett, Lowell Hunter, David Melton, Murl Melton, and Kurt Hunter.
JOSEPH W. 'JOE' POSTON
Funeral service for Mr. Joseph W. 'Joe' Poston, 54, of Sevierville, and formerly of Livingston, were conducted at noon, Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, from the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville. Burial was in Bethel cemetery in Sevierville with Rev. Kenneth Stansberry officiating.
Mr. Poston died Thursday, Nov. 28 at Ft. Saunders Hospital in Sevierville. He was employed with Richardson Turner Construction Company and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Born May 31, 1948, in Overton County, he was the son of Cleo (Winningham) Poston of Livingston and the late Wilbur Poston.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Barbara (Thompson) Poston of Sevierville; a son and daughter-in-law, Derrick and Wendie Poston of Knoxville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Valerie and Brad Loveday, Rebecca Poston, and Katie Jo Poston, all of Sevierville; two sisters, June Robbins of Livingston and Brenda Williams of Byrdstown; and one grandchild. RUBY JEWELL QUALLS
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Jewell Qualls, 88, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Bro. Glenn Ledbetter and Bro. Chris Coil officiating.
Mrs. Qualls died Saturday, Nov. 30 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ and Overton County Senior Citizens.
Born November 18, 1914, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Lena Frances (Richardson) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Qualls.
Survivors include two brothers, Zachry Smith of the Wirmingham Community and Claude Smith of Cincinnati, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
JEFFREY ALAN SCOTT
Funeral services for Mr. Jeffrey Alan Scott, 37, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in St. John cemetery with Bro. A.J. Cox and Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating.
Mr. Scott died Thursday, Dec. 5 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a factory worker. Born December 27, 1964, in Overton County, he was the son of Betty Davis of Livingston and Maxey Scott of Celina. He was preceded in death by three grandparents, Ruth Etta Davis and Andrew and Rosey (Napier) Scott.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Lisa Scott of Allons; a daughter, Katelyn Scott of Allons; his grandfather, Luther Davis of Allons; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eddie Ray and Faye Thrasher of Allons; a special great-uncle, Ed Davis of Allons; a special friend, David Davis of Monroe; and a host of special family members and friends.

OSBY TURNER
Masonic services for Mr. Osby Turner, 67, of Alpine, were conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Burial, with full military honors by the Honor Guard of VFW James T. Davis Post 5062, was in Padgett cemetery with Dr. David Moore officiating.
Mr. Turner died Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a factory worker at General Motors Corporation, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of West Fork Masonic Lodge 648. He was of the Baptist faith.
Born February 1, 1935, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Johnnie A. and Barbara E. (Padgett) Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold Turner, Argyle Turner, Hershell Turner, and Ishmael Turner.
Survivors include two brothers, Comer Turner of Clayton, IN, and Carlos Katto Turner of Livingston; a sister, Jewell Marieda Turner of Alpine; a special friend, Ruth McCormick; a niece; and 10 nephews. Pallbearers were Jim Grindstaff, Carl Turner, Terry Turner, Michael Turner, Bob Bell, and Jerry Bell.
JOHN L. WILLIAMS
Funeral services for Mr. John L. Williams, 74, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in St. John cemetery with Bro. Jerry Johnson officiating.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a brick mason and served in the U.S. Army in the German Occupation during the Korean War.
Born October 21, 1928, in Clay County, AL, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Belle (Price) Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Elise Williams; and two brothers, Hurston Williams and Tommy Williams.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Margaret Williams of Livingston; two sisters, Sara Darling and Dorothy Powell, both of Macon, GA; three brothers, Oscar Williams and J.O. Williams, both of Hollins, AL, and Charles Williams of Rome, GA; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Tim Williams, John Williams, Nathan Williams, Ed Long, Ed Hensley, Tom Hensley, and John Kirkpatric.
Woodley Mae Copeland
Funeral services for Mrs. Woodley Mae Copeland, 72, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Falling Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Copeland, a housewife, died Friday, August 6, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born September 13, 1926, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Story and Nora Lee Cantrell Smith.
She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin Copeland, Alpine, and Randy Copeland, Livingston; three daughters, Willie Leslie and LeeAnn Poston, both of Livingston, and Dorothy Carr, Hilham; a sister, Louise Ramsey, Livingston; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mark Sherfield, Chris Copeland, Ronnie White, Steve Cooper, Nelson Parrigin, and Steve Coffee.
Carl Elmer Loftis Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Elmer Loftis Sr., 73, of Livingston, were conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 1999, from Algood First Freewill Baptist Church in Algood with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Poplar Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Loftis, a retired shipping department employee for General Motors, died Thursday, August 12, 1999, at Overton County Nursing Home.
Born July 5, 1926, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Asbury Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Loftis.
He attended Algood First Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pearlie Loftis, Livingston; five sons, James Francis Loftis and Carl E. Loftis Jr., both of Atlanta, GA, Frank Loftis, Gainesboro, Jeffrey Loftis, Livingston, and Carl E. Loftis III, Marion, IN; a daughter, Carlotta Loftis, Grayton, FL; two brothers, Walton Loftis, Hilham, and Odell Loftis, Kettering, OH; two sisters, Zora Reed, Rickman, and Irene Grubb, Kettering, OH; 14 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Earl Loftis, Paul Loftis, Howard Loftis, Jim Loftis, Ted Matthews, and Herbert McCormick.
Charlie B. Fletcher
Funeral services for Mr. Charlie B. Fletcher, 65, of Livingston, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 18, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Nolan Cantrell officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Fletcher, street superintendent for the City of Livingston, died Sunday, August 15, 1999, at his home.
Born February 8, 1934, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Johnny Melton and Jessie Mullins Fletcher.
He was a member of Oak Dale Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean war.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Fletcher, Livingston; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Jennifer Fletcher and Marty Fletcher, all of Livingston; three brothers, Willie Fletcher and Johnny Fletcher Jr., both of Livingston, and Bud Fletcher, Akron, OH; a sister, Betty Smith, Livingston; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wayne Peek, David Langford, Ricky Stamps, Scott Lamb, Rod Johnson, and Bruce Dixon.
James Walton Eldridge Jr.

Mr. Eldridge, a former sheriff of Overton County, a farmer, and a dozer operator, died Friday, August 13, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born August 10, 1928, in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late Walton and Helen Marie Lee Eldridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Eldridge.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Livingston, Livingston Lodge #259, past master of West Fork #648, Chapter and Council, V.F.W., and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Eldridge, Alpine; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Larry Cooper, Alpine; four brothers, Charles Eldridge, Allons, Robert Eldridge, San Diego, CA, and Shirley Eldridge and Joe Eldridge, both of Knoxville; a sister, Mary Lou Hansbarger, Knoxville; and a granddaughter, Amy Cooper, Alpine.
Pallbearers were Mike Boswell, Matt Smith, Jeff Collins, Doug Ledbetter, Kent Copeland, David Vaughn Copeland, Kenneth Swallows, and Gerald David Norris.
