Graveside services for Mr. Teddy Charles Sullivan, 60, of Rickman, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Fellowship cemetery with Jackie Wheeler and Kenny Vaughn officiating. Rickman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Sullivan, a brick mason, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hosptial.
Born June 21, 1939, in Livingston, he was the son of Mary Lou Sullivan of Rickman and the late Lillard Sullivan. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Sullivan. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include three sisters, Billie Vaughn, Cookeville, Laura Sullivan, Orlando, FL, and Barbara Parker, Ashland City; two brothers, O.L. Sullivan and Leonard Sullivan, both of Rickman; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Donald Edmonds, Craig Dial, Jerry Sullian, Chris Parker, J.D. Pryor, and Jason Sullivan.
Frankie D. Brown
Funeral services for Mr. Frankie D. Brown, 65, of Allons, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. John Albright officiating. Burial was in Miller cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brown died Tuesday, April 2 at his home. He was a retired Chief Master Sgt. U.S. Air Force and 22 year Veteran of U.S. Air Force.
Born October 31, 1936, in Overton County, he was the son of the late George and Mae (Eldridge) Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Carl 'Bud' Brown.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Brown, Greenville, SC, and Robert Brown, Melbourne, FL; a brother, Wayne Brown, Allons; four sisters, Clara Fleming, Allons, Doris Davis, Rickman, and June Adams and Elene Gunnels, both of Kingsport; and a granddaughter, Megan Brown. Pallbearers were the Military Honor Guard/Robbins Air Force Base.
Clancey Leila Young
Funeral services for Miss Clancey Leila Young, 81, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Cullom Maxfield officiating. Burial was in Wirmingham cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Miss Young died Friday, April 5 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired garment factory worker and a member of the Maple Grove Church of God.
Born March 24, 1921, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Ida Mae (Richardson) Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Gordon Young, Bordon Young, Ordus Young, Odus Young, and Orbit Young; and an infant sister.
Survivors include a brother, Odell Young, Kokomo, IN; a sister, Clarice Carter, Livingston; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Eunice Flora Wright
Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Flora Wright, 93, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Irwin and Rev. Glenn Winningham officiating. Burial was in Wirmingham cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Wright died Saturday, April 6 at her home. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Monroe Christian Church.
Born October 19, 1908, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Ollie (Ledbetter) Linder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Varner Wright; a daughter, Faye Winningham; three brothers, Welsey Linder, Clure Linder, and Frank Linder; and a sister, Annie Clark.
Survivors include three sons, Ken Wright, Lebanon, Leon Wright, Byrdstown, and Doug Wright, Monroe; three daughters, Carol Shook, Kennasaw, GA, Joyce Rich, Monroe, and Jo Nell Sells, Marion, IL; a brother, Richard Linder, Plant City, FL; a sister, Daisy Edwards, Ormand Beach, FL; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Duane Winningham, Glenn Winningham, Mike Shook, James Wright, Steve Wright, and Chris Sells.
Lou Emma Presley
Funeral services for Miss Lou Emma Presley, 89, of Livingston, and formerly of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Nolan Cantrell officiating. Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Miss Presley died Saturday, April 6 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
Born April 14, 1912, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Harriett Catherine (Copeland) Presley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Alvin Presley, M.A. Presley, A.P. Presley, A.T. Presley, and Willie Presley.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were George Hargis, Earl Presley, Edd Presley, Bruce Presley, James Presley, and Scotty Watson.
Sally Mae Mielke
Funeral services for Mrs. Sally Mae Mielke, 94, of Cookeville, will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 10, 2002, from the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Comer McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Okolona cemetery with Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Mielke died Sunday, April 7 at Masters Health Care Center in Algood. She was a homemaker and member of Okolona United Methodist Church. She was a former school teacher at Ivy Point, Union Hill, and Okolona schools. She owned and operated Phil's Eat Shop in Cookeville. She attended Rickman Elementary and graduated from Livingston Academy and Tennessee Polytechnic Institute.
Born October 16, 1907, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Nancy Ellen (Bilbrey) Copeland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Mielke; two sisters, Della Stockton and Mary Lou Beasley; and an infant brother.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Mielke, Cookeville; a niece, Virginia Greer, Somerset, KY; and a nephew, Keith Stockton, Livingston. Pallbearers will be George Stockton, Charles E. Stockton, Mark McDaniel, Kevin Presley, James Eddie Webb, and Lem McClain.
Matthew E. Johnson
Memorial services for Mr. Matthew E. Johnson, 20, of Huffman, TX, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2002, from the chapel of First Baptist Church of Atascosita. Mr. Johnson died Sunday, March 31 at his home. He was a student and worked at Kroger's. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Atascosita.
Born September 4, 1981, in Cookeville, he was the son of Larry and Judy (Hargis) Johnson of Huffman, TX.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister, April Johnson, Huffman; grandparents, Wilmoth and Reba Johnson, Livingston; five uncles, Junior Hargis, Livingston, Buster Hargis, North Carolina, Steve Johnson, Huffman, Mike Johnson, Woodstock, GA, and Scott Johnson, Martinsville, IN; an aunt, Ann Linder, Alpine; cousins, Rodney Hargis, Brandon Hargis, and Michele Hargis, all of Livingston, Rachel Hargis and Sarah Hargis, both of North Carolina, Jodi Garrett, Huffman, and Landon E. Thelma Gladys Hancock
F uneral services for Mrs. Thelma Gladys Hancock, 87, of Clarksville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, from the chapel of Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Don Zuberer officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery with Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hancock died Saturday, March 9 at Spring Meadows Health Care. She was a retired nurse from Gateway Medical Center and a member of First Baptist Church.
Born January 25, 1915, in Livingston, she was the daughter of the late Ras Turner and Ida (Hogue) Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edgar Hancock.
Survivors include a son, Royce Hancock, Clarksville; a daughter, Joyce Janiec, Clarksville; two brothers, Elijah Robert Ledbetter, Georgia, and J.C. Ledbetter, Cookeville; a sister, Mary Belle Mainord, Anderson, IN; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family and friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the Joy Sunday School Class and Sunshine Class.
James Ward Ferrell
Funeral services for Mr. James Ward Ferrell, 48, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Nolan Cantrell officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Ferrell died Saturday, March 30 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a carpenter and a farmer.
Born October 12, 1953, in Overton County, he was the son of Ovaline (Dishman) Ferrell of Allons and the late Gilbert Ward Ferrell.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include four sisters and four brothers-in-law, Patsy and Lawrence Hawkins, Livingston, Joyce and Steve Buck, Anderson, IN, Janet and William Harper, Cookeville, and Lisa and Jim Daniels, Rickman; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ricky and Debbie Ferrell, Rickman, and David and Tonya Ferrell, Allons.
Pallbearers were Terry Coleman, Baxter Hughes, Steve Buck, Bill Reeder, Bobby Reeder, Jerry Harris, and Ronald Coleman.
Jimmie V. Goolsby

Mrs. Goolsby died Sunday, March 31 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Born December 11, 1928, in Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Lula (Robbins) West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Goolsby; and two sisters, Johnny Little and Ilene Girdley.
Survivors include in a son and financee, Larry Goolsby and June Tucker, Sparta; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Jimmy Allred, Livingston; two sisters, Jean Vaughn, Livingston, and Jackie Masters, Oak Ridge; four grandchildren, Phillip Goolsby, Jeff Allred, Sean Allred, and Scott Allred; and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Qualls, Jim Davidson, Bill Mahaney, Gary Threet, Bob Stoner, and David Hunter.
Coby D. Spicer
Funeral services for Mr. Coby D. Spicer, 90, of Barnes Road in Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Joey Spicer and James Spicer officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Spicer, a carpenter, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at his home. Born July 11, 1909, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Joseph Yancy and Florence (Sims) Spicer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Odell (Maynard) Spicer; an infant daughter; a son, Ronald Spicer; three sisters, Beulah Maynard, Lela Arney, and Pauline Hager; and a brother, J.Y. Spicer.
He was a member of the Bangham Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Eulene Robbins, Hilham; seven sons, Vernon Spicer, Mayford Spicer, both of Rock Island, J.C. Spicer, Crossville, Clarence Spicer, Joe Spicer, Jack Spicer, all of Cookeville, and Mike Spicer, McMinnville; three sisters, Zilpha Hertzog, Akron, OH, Reba Hunter, Rickman, and Lois DeFazio, Kansas City, KS; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Chad Spicer, Aaron Spicer, Kevin Spicer, Fred Spicer, Andrew Spicer, Charlie Spicer, Randy Spicer, Zechariah Spicer, and Sarah Spicer, all grandchildren of Mr. Spicer.
Ora M. Stout

Mrs. Stout, a retired employee of the Kellogg Co., died Monday, April 17, 2000, at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility in Michigan.
Born January 28, 1907, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of the late James David A. and Edna S. (Blaylock) Verble. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Stout; a son, David A. Stout; two brothers, David Verble and Nolen Verble; two sisters, Cleo Hoover and Lora Coker; and a grandson.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron Stout, Temple Hills, MD, and Paul Stout, Battle Creek, MI; three daughters, Billie Ickes, Fairfield Glade, Anna Rae Waltman, and Glenna Bateson, both of Battle Creek, MI; two brothers, Sam Verble, Battle Creek, MI, and William "Carl' Verble, Miami, FL; a sister, Pearl Norris, Crossville; 19 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Earl Holder
Funeral services for Mr. Earl Holder, 70, of Monterey were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Bobby Floyd officiating. Burial was in the Johnson cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Holder died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was a retired factory worker. Born April 13, 1930, in White County, he was the son of the late Sherman and Jane Grace Holder.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Holder; and a sister Lillian Tudor, Silver Point, TN.
