Funeral services for Miss Carrie E. Matthews, 89, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Coil officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Miss Matthews died Thursday, Nov. 8 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She worked at Livingston Shirt Factory and Ideal Laundry.
Born February 16, 1912, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Benton M. and Fannie (Brown) Matthews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Maggie (Stewart) Crowley and Hazel Matthews.
Survivors include a sister, Lillian Kilgore, Crossville; a nephew, Earl Ray Stewart, Cookeville; a niece, Dora Stewart, Cookeville; several great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Greg Shirley, Bob Stewart, Joe Lucent, Earl Carwile, David Dickerson, and David Sadler.
Hilda Jean Norris
Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Jean Norris, 65, of Alpine, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Branch officiating. Burial was in Copeland cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Norris died Thursday, Nov. 8 at her home. She was a housewife and a member of the Christ Church Presbyterian in Alpine.
Born July 23, 1936, in Overton County, she was the daugther of the late Jessie James and Stella Jane (Young) Copeland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Issac Marion "I.M." Norris; and four sisters, Nelda Ray, Patricia Benson, Wanda Kay Copeland, and Ethel Marie Copeland.
Survivors include a son and daugther-in-law, Steve and Jane Nichole Norris, Cookeville; two sisters, Janice Pryor, Indianapolis, IN, and Sammie Qualls, Livingston; and a special nephew, Scotty Qualls, Alpine.
Pallbearers were Steve Norris, Scotty Qualls, James Qualls, Raymond Qualls, Steve Cooper, and Brandon Cooper.
James Luther Shea
Funeral services for Mr. James Luther "Jim' Shea, 76, of Rickman, were conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Masters officiating. Additional services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, from the chapel of Barnett-Demron Funeral Home in Waynesburg, KY, with Bro. Dewey Masters officiating. Burial was in Gooch cemetery in Kings Mt., KY, with Livingston Funeral Home and Barnett-Demron Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Shea died Monday, Nov. 12 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired janitor from A.H. Roberts Elementary School and a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Born January 31, 1925, in Lincoln County, KY, he was the son of the late George and Laura (Phillips) Shea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Shea; two brothers, Albert Shea and Tom Shea; and three sisters, Blanch, Evelyn, and Ula.
Survivors include his wife, Clema (Davis) Shea, Rickman, a daughter, Jeannie Coffman, Rickman; a stepson, Dallas Hayes, Cookeville; a brother, George Shea, Waynesburg, KY; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family and friends from Kentucky.
Eddie Douglas Riley
Funeral services for Mr. Eddie Douglas Riley, 27, of Allons, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene McCowan officiating. Burial was in Cope cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Riley died Thursday, Nov. 22 at his home. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Livingston and an avid outdoorsman.
Born January 31, 1974, in Overton County, he was the son of Jeff and Rita (Boles) Riley of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Herchel Riley; a sister-in-law, Amy Maynord; and an aunt, Myra Boswell. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda (Maynord) Riley, Allons; grandparents, Billie Riley, Monroe, Jim and Zora Boles, Livingston, Robert and Ruby Maynord, Allons, and Clifton and Myrtle Allen, Hilham; a brother, Eric Riley, Monroe; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronnie and Gail Maynord, Allons; and a sister-in-law, Sarah Maynord, Allons.

Lola Belle Richardson

Mrs. Richardson died Friday, Nov. 23 at Masters Health Care Center in Algood. She was a housewife and a member of Paron United Methodist Church.
Born June 1, 1905, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Eli Joshua and Martha Ann (Buck) Mainord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Richardson; three sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mainord and Norma Richardson, Cookeville; a daughter-in-law, Etheleen Richardson, Cookeville; four grandchildren, Mike Richardson, Tim Richardson, Patti Stamps, and Randy Richardson; and four great grandchildren, Chad Richardson, Brandi Richardson, Eric Stamps, and Jenni Stamps.

Gilberta R. Presley
Funeral services for Mrs. Gilberta R. Mrs. Presley died Monday, Nov. 26 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Paran Methodist Church.
Born November 6, 1920, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of the late Haywood and Maggie Tennessee (McBroom) Rodgers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul David Presley; two brothers, Malcolm Rodgers and Arlington Rodgers; and two sisters, Alene Fields and Clauie Mahan.
Survivors include her husband, Willard Presley, Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Gordon and Bettie Presley, Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Faye and Dave Bartholoma, Phoenix, AZ; a sister and brother-in-law, Dean and Arvel Lee, Cookeville; three granddaughters, Sonya Johnson, Darlene Knight, and Genetta Moore; two grandsons, Steven Bilbrey and Russell Bilbrey; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Grace Poock

Mrs. Poock died Thursday, Nov. 22 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. She was a homemaker, a master seamstress, and of the Church of Christ faith.
Born November 14, 1918, in Mason, OH, she was the daughter of the late Eli H. and Nettie (Horn) Durban. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Otto Poock; a sister, Flossie Tanncher; and four brothers, Lester A. Durban, Shirley V. Durban, John W. Durban, and Eli Durban III.

Marlin Lawson
Funeral services for Mr. Marlin Lawson, 80, of Butlerville, IN, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, from the chapel of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, IN, with Rev. Troy Greene officiating. Burial was in Vernon cemetery with military rites conducted by North Vernon V.F.W. Matt Hester Post #2021. Mr. Lawson died Thursday, Nov. 22 at his home. He was a farmer, head chef at Anderson Hotel in Anderson, IN, and owner and operator of Marlins Care in Marion, IN. He established Delco Remey Cafeteria in Anderson and supplied Marsh Supermarkets with chickens. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of the Graham Baptist Church in San Jacinto, IN, former member of the Masonic Lodge of Butlerville, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Born Dec. 25, 1920, in Livingston, he was the son of the late Roscoe Lawson and Fannie Belle Crowder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Ray Lawson; a daughter, Maryland Hoffman; a brother, John Lawson; and two sisters, Zuie Hunter and Opal Lawson.

Opal Huddleston

Mrs. Huddleston died Saturday, Nov. 24. She was of the Methodist faith.
Born March 20, 1917, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Roda Jane (Taylor) Robbins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Huddleston; a daughter, Alice Cope; and a granddaughter, Patty (Cope) Sturgil.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Mary Huddleston, Pall Mall, and Robert Paul and Brenda Huddleston, Jamestown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Marvin Davidson, Byrdstown, Judy and Carl Soules, Muncie, IN, and Vickie and Tim Hicks, Albany, KY; a sister, Ova Garver, Hollywood, FL; four half brothers, Clifford Robbins and Charles Robbins, both of Overton County, Carl Robbins, Mt. Agnes (Knight) Campbell
Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes (Knight) Campbell, 90, of Knoxville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Marc Upchurch officiating. Burial was in Wirmingham cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Campbell died Friday, Nov. 23 at her home. She received a B.S. degree in 1934 from Tennessee Technological Institute in Cookeville and did post graduate work at Vanderbilt University in Nashville during 1935 and at the University of Chicago during 1942 and 1946. She received the M.S.S.W. degree from the University of Tennessee in 1952-1953. She was employed by Tennessee Department of Public Welfare as regional director and was later the executive director of Knoxville Travelers Aid Society. She served on many different committees and was listed in various editions of "Who's Who of American Women," "Two Thousand Women of Achievement,' "Royal Blue Book,' and many different books of achievement. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Born January 10, 1911, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late George Allen and Nova (Clark) Knight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Campbell; a sister, Ines Gunnels; a brother, Orbitt Knight; and a niece, Dean K. Wright.
Survivors include four nieces and their spouses, Lena and John M. York, Sebring, FL, Jean Upchurch, Cookeville, Sue and Fay Qualls and Peggy and James A. Cobb, all of Jamestown; and a nephew and his spouse, Jack D. and Claudia Knight, Jamestown.

Larry James Harris

Mr. Harris died Thursday, Nov. 22 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a truck driver for Overton County Highway Department and a member of the Three Forks Baptist Church and Channel 13 Goodtime Gang CB Club.
Born August 5, 1958, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Lurther J. and Betty J. (Looper) Harris. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Harris, Dry Hollow Community; a son, Jason Harris, Dry Hollow Community; his son's fiancee, Tasha O'Neil, Dry Hollow Community; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Fred Gaw, Rickman.

Harold Keith "Curly" Harding

Mr. Harding, a former funeral assistant, died Wednesday, November 22, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born March 7, 1943, in Albany, KY, he was the son of the late Elmer and Ellen (Bilbrey) Harding. He started working as a funeral assistant and ambulance assistant with John Smith at the Byrdstown Funeral Home. Later, he was the first employee hired by Jim South to work for the first Overton County operated Ambulance Service, where he worked as an emergency medical technician. In 1983, when Crestlawn Funeral Home was established by Jim South and Kenny Elder, he went to work for the firm as a funeral assistant until he became disabled.

Born January 25, 1944, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Pearl Jane Vaughn Beaty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Beaty and Sam Beaty. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
