Funeral services for Mr. Ronnie Garrett, 55, of the Vines Ridge Community, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2000, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Ovel Tinch officiating. Burial was in Phillips cemetery in Hanging Limb with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Garrett, an automotive body repairman, died Monday, February 21, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born September 2, 1944, in Vines Ridge, he was the son of Daisy (Hargis) Garrett of the Vines Ridge Community and the late Victor Garrett. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Wilma Hines, and a brother-in-law, Johnny Allred.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mary (Allred) Garrett, Vines Ridge Community; a son, Chad Garrett, Vines Ridge Community; three sisters-in-law, Judy Stedam, Rinnie, Betty Evans, Augusta, GA, and Sibbie Barnes, Rockwood; five brothers-in-law, Gratis Allred, Irvine Allred, both of Rinnie, Jim Allred, Tom Allred, and Lonnie Allred, all of Clarkrange; two aunts, Agnes Miller and Beatrice Barnes, both of the Vines Ridge Community; and an uncle, Thelbert Garrett, Hanging Limb.
James William Bill Crabtree Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. James William Bill Crabtree, Sr. 95, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Crabtree, the owner of Livingston Recappers, died Monday, August 14, 2000, at the Overton County Nursing Home.
Born July 6, 1905, in Overton County, he was the son of the late William Marion and Addie Winningham Crabtree. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dillie Cargile Crabtree, and an infant son, Harold D. Crabtree.
He was a member of the Allons Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Jr. and Thelma Crabtree, Ronald and Carol Crabtree, Jack and Reba Crabtree, and Max and Nina Crabtree, all of Livingston; eight grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Stan Crabtree, Mark Crabtree, Roger Crabtree, Michael Crabtree, Brian Crabtree, and Earl McNeely.
Mary Masters Hollars
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary (Masters) Hollars, 99, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Old Union cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hollars, a housewife, died Friday, August 18, 2000, at the Overton County Nursing Home.
Born February 13, 1901, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Jay and Lina (Allen) Masters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hollars; a son, Harold Hollars; a daughter, Wanda Hollars; a grandson, Jack Deck; and a granddaughter, Michile Hollars.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Leon Hollars, Florida, and Gary Hollars, Livingston; two daughters, Kathleen Deck, Livingston, and June DeWitt, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Carl Masters, Tony Belli, Jeff Slayton, Doyles Sells, Ronald Hollars, and Wayne Gilpatrick.
Cordell Hull Sells
Funeral services for Mr. Cordell Hull Sells, 90, of Monroe, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Cletis Beason and Bro. Glen Ledbetter officiating. Masonic services were held graveside at Smith Family cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Sells, a constructor of reservoir dams, died Wednesday, August 16, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born May 11, 1910, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Jacob Lonzo and Mary Edna Sells. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audie May Sells; and two brothers, Luther Sells and Shirley Sells.
He was a member of the Free Communion Church of Christ and a member of Eagle Creek Lodge for 53 years.
Survivors include three sons, Randell Sells, Rickman, Henry Sells, Free Communion Community, and Malcolm Sells, Heard Ridge Community; four daughters, Rosalie Merkley and Lillie Ann Sells, both of Cookeville; Geraldine Stover, Independence Community, and Josephine Bean, Hardys Chapel Community; two sisters, Nora Pearl Taylor, Detroit, MI, and Mae Daniel, Muncie, IN; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three nephews; and a niece.
Pallbearers were Tommy Crabtree, Robert Padgett, Gary Reagan, Chris Morrison, Charlie Deck, and William Spivey.
J. T. Abbott
Funeral services for Mr. J. T. Abbott, 73, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Buck officiating. Burial was in the Miller cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Abbott died Friday, October 19, 2001 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired cement finisher and a member of the Landmark Baptist Church.
Born March 25, 1928, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Lakin and Lannie (Ruble) Abbott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Abbott; a brother, Clifford Abbott; a grandson, Rocky Lee Dishman; and his father-in-law, Elliot "Tick" McDonald.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Abbott, Livingston; five sons, Bobby Joe Abbott, Larry Gene Abbott, Roger Abbott, and Ricky Glen Abbott, all of Livingston, and Mark Abbott, Rickman; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Ledbetter and Shelia Marie Ledbetter, both of Livingston; his mother-in-law, Myrtle McDonald; a brother, Posie Abbott, Livingston; three sisters, Rosie Arney, O.V. Morrow, and Eula Adams, all of Livingston; 18 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

Carl Edward Crawley Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Edward "Daddy-O' Crawley Sr., 60, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2001, from Hardy's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Sullivan and Bro. Keith Linder officiating. Burial was in the Smith Chapel cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Crawley died Thursday, October 18, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was employed with the City of Cookeville, Public Works, and a member of the Hardy's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and Upper Cumberland CB Club.
Born April 16, 1941, in Kentucky, he was the son of the late Carlos C. and Golda M. (Ward) Crawley.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Sharon (Hix) Crawley, Cookeville; four sons, Carl Edward Crawley Jr., David Neal Crawley, Charles Hicks, and Bobby Hicks, all of Cookeville; a daughter, Brenda Bush, Buffalo Valley; a brother, Donald L. Crawley; and 12 grandchildren.
Carl Lee Johnson
Carl Lee Johnson, 72, of Rochester Hills, MI, and formerly of Overton County, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2001. Interment
was held at Forest Lawn cemetery in Detroit, MI, with Pixley Funeral Home of Rochester Hills in charge of the arrangements.
Born in 1929 in Overton County, he was the son of the late John W. and Veo Hogue Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances M. Johnson.
Survivors include his son, John Johnson, Flint, MI; two daughters, Martha Johnson, Rochester Hills; Levona Hunter, Texas; a brother, Robert Johnson, Warren, MI; two sisters, Liz McCormick and Katherine Johnson, Livingston; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Zelma Jean Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Zelma Jean Jones, 73, of Celina, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2001, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Minister Nathan Miller and Minister Tim Smith officiating. Burial was in the Macedonia cemetery in Moss with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Jones died Wednesday, October 17, 2001, at Vanderbilt Hospital. She was an Osh Kosh factory worker.
Born June 29, 1928, in Moss, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Drucilla (Rich) McBride.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Ray Jones, Celina; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Boles, Moss, Danette and John Bonner, Jackson, Sherry and Windol Burton, Mt. Juliet, and Dolores and Wayne Rich, Celina; five brothers, Benny McBride, Alpine, Joe Frank McBride, Noblesville, IN, Landon McBride, Leesburg, FL, Roy McBride, Indianapolis, IN, and Willie Hugh McBride, Clayton, IN; a sister, Elsie Langford, Celina; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Anna Marie Barker
Funeral services for Ms. Anna Marie Barker, 76, of Cookeville and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Speck officiating. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. Barker died Tuesday, October 9, 2001, at her home. She was a retired college P.E. Teacher and a member of the Eastern Star. She graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1948, and received a masters degree from Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, MI. She taught 35 years in the Battle Creek School system and retired from Kellogg Community College in 1988.
Born April 9, 1925, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Walter and Alta May (Sells) Copeland.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred McNamee, Battle Creek, MI, and Dorothy Huddleston, Livingston; a life-long friend, Donna Leatherberry, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Jesse Garvin Savage
Funeral services for Mr. Jesse Garvin Savage, of Fairfield,IL, were conducted Sunday, October 7, 2001, in Fairfield, with Rev. Richard Hart officiating. Burial was in the Maple Hill cemetery in Fairfield with Nales Funeral Home of Fairfield in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Savage was a retired carpenter and farmer and was a member of the North Side Baptist Church in Fairfield.
Born March 20, 1914, in the Fellowship Community of Overton County, he was the son of the late Edgar and Jolee Savage. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Berniece (Martin) Savage; his second wife, Serephene (Nelson) Savage; and an infant son, Jesse Giffard Savage.
Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Masterson, Fairfield, and Margaret Henson, Chicago, IL; two sisters, Mae Reagan, Livingston and Dean Masterson, Mount Carmel, IL; a stepdaughter, Joyce Harris, Indiana; two stepsons, Randal Nelson, Kentucky, and Melvin Nelson, Mount Juliet; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Horace Marshall Roberts
Funeral services for Mr. Horace Marshall Roberts, 69, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Kerry Duke officiating. Burial, with full military honors performed by the James T. Davis VFW Post 5062 Honor Guard, was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Roberts died Thursday, October 11, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was an auto dealer for 40 years, a member of the West End Church of Christ, and a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War.
Born July 18, 1932, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Marshall and Willie (Roach) Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Conner; and a granddaughter, Becky Conner.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Roberts, Livingston; two sons, Joe Roberts, Dallas, TX, and Anthony Roberts, Jamestown; a daughter, Karen Sells, Livingston; a brother, Maldon Roberts, Jamestown; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were David Hannah, Terry Sells, Nicholas Sells, Daniel Sells, Brandon Roberts, Michael Roberts, and Brian Roberts.
Delene "Dee" (Buckner) Keith

Mrs. Keith died Saturday, October 13, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born February 1, 1949, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Harlon Wilson and Noble (McCowan) Melton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jr. Keith.
Survivors include two daugthers and a son-in-law, Drema and Tim Bowman and Kandie Tays, all of Cookeville; three sisters, Genne Raines, Rickman, Pam Sullins, Cookeville, and Patty Tayes, Monterey; three brothers, Laddie Wilson, Hendersonville, and Johnny Wilson and Ronnie Wilson, both of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Tori, Skyler, and Kodee; and companion, Joe Nabors, Cookeville.
Arlan I. Jones

Mr. Jones died Tuesday, October 9, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a self employed mechanic, of the Presbyterian faith, and a veteran of the National Guard.
Born April 19, 1904, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Berry Derwood and Velenar (Ramsey) Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Arxie (Sells) Jones, Alpine; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mary Jones, Alpine; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Hancock, Monroe; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
