Dorothy Stewart Hoots
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy S. Hoots, age 81, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11 Am Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Mike George officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens beside her husband Frank Hoots. Mrs. Hoots passed away Thursday afternoon, January 1, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Winchester.
A daughter of the late Murphey and Florine Tucker Stewart, she was a native of Lincoln County, a former secretary with Copperweld, and a member of Washington Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son Frank Hoots and wife Brenda, sister Joyce Pitts, granddaughter Ashley Hoots, all of Fayetteville, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
James Bright "Jr." Jeans, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Jr. Jeans, age 60, of Fayetteville, will be conducted at 11AM Friday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Flintville cemetery. Mr. Jeans passed away Tuesday morning January 20th at Lincoln Medical Center.
He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late James Bright Jeans Sr. and Madelyn Kent Jeans who survives. Mr. Jeans was employed as superintendent of transportation for Lincoln County School Board and was also a football, basketball and life coach. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his daughter Julie Jean and husband Steven of Kelso, son Ryan Jeans and wife Christie of Flintville, grandchildren Chandler, Ashlyn, and Carson Jean of Kelso and Laurel, Mattie and Nathan Jeans of Flintville, special friend Ruthie Jeans of Flintville, two sisters Shirley Sluder of Sykesville, MD and Sandy Bunting and husband Michael of Chattanooga, brother Billy Joe Jeans and wife Carolyn of Ashland City, TN and special nieces and nephews.
Those serving as pallbearers are Bill Martin, Dan Bond, Ray Pugh, Frankie Stevenson, Ricky Honey, Josh Jeans, Jonathan Jeans and Johnny Church. Honorary pallbearers Steve Jeans, Dale Moran, Jason Moorehead, Chad Carter, Todd Brandon, Jacob Sorrells, Randy Wood, Phillip Shelton, David Crawford, Bob Malone, Robert White, Keith and Michael Sluder.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening 4-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
Charles E. Whitfield
Funeral services for Mr. Charles E. (Big Papa) Whitfield, age 64, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Carlos Beddingfield and Bro. Ricky Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan cemetery. Mr. Whitfield passed away Friday afternoon, January 30, 2009, at Huntsville Hospital.
A son of the late George William and Dora Marie Williamson Whitfield, he was a native of Lincoln County, a truck driver, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Nancy Sue Whitfield of Fayetteville, daughter Elizabeth Dianne Bostick and husband Shannon of Flintville, grandchildren Jammi Lee Shull and husband Brad of Flintville and Charles Kristopher D. Carr of Flintville, great-grandchildren Troy, Kyera, Trevor, Dakotah, and Payton, brothers Jackie Whitfield and wife Belinda of Lewisburg, Donnie Whitfield and wife Betty of Winchester, Ralph Whitfield and wife Debra of Wheel, and Waylon Whitfield and wife Robbie of Kelso, sister Wanda Jett of Shelbyville, and several nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons Patrick, Randy, and Steven Whitfield, and brother Joe Lee Whitfield.

Ronnie Holland

Funeral services for Mr. Ronnie Holland, age 64, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 1PM Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh cemetery. Mr. Holland passed away Thursday May 28th in Huntsville Hospital.
He was a native of Lincoln County and was the son of the late Mack Holland and Eleanor Griffin Holland who survives. Mr. Holland was a retired civil engineer for the state of Tennessee and was a member of the Shiloh Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife Wilma Farmer Holland of Fayetteville, two sons, Darren Holland and wife Michelle and Teddy Holland and wife Lindsay all of Fayetteville, grandchildren Blake, Garrett and Braden Holland, two sisters Shirley Mann of Fayetteville and Florene Copeland of Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by a sister Maxine Scott.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 11AM until 1PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
Katie Nell (Sanders) Wells

Graveside services for Mrs. Katie Nell (Sanders) Wells, age 92, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11AM Thursday at Pleasant Hill cemetery with Rev. Milton Martin officiating. Higgins Funeral Home is in charge of the services. Mrs. Wells passed away Tuesday morning June 16th at Lincoln Care Center.
She was the daughter of the late George and Sally Thrasher Sanders, retired from Lincoln Care Center and was a member of the Flintville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters Sybil Durham and husband Frank of Fayetteville, son Coyce Earl Wells of Savannah, TN, daughter Mary Ellen Chamblee and husband A.C. of Fayetteville, grandchildren Chuck Allen, Joan Chamblee Fleming, Mary Jane Chamblee DeMurray, Troy Wells, Tracy Wells, and Janet Chamblee Eichinger, four great-grandchildren Joe Allen, Jessica Hunter Fleming, Holly Wells and Timothy Wells, two great-great grandchildren, a special niece Willa Jo Dye and friends Elizabeth Hansen and Carol Davidson.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:30am Thursday at graveside with services to follow at 11AM.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas McAnally, age 75, of Taft will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Gay officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove cemetery. Mr. McAnally passed away Thursday morning at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
A son of the late Roy Clifton and Nannie Bell Hornbuckle McAnally, he was a native of Madison County, AL, a farmer, truck driver, member of the National Guard, and attended the Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Joanne Wells McAnally of Taft, son Steven Thomas McAnally of Fayetteville, grandchildren Amy McAnally Clemons and husband Scott and Alex McAnally all of Fayetteville, great-granddaughter Raegan Clemons of Fayetteville, sister Peggy McAnally Phillips of Fayetteville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Juanita McAnally.

Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine (Kimbrough) Groce, age 78, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Craig Clemons and Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Mrs. Groce passed away Sunday morning at Donalson Care Center.
A daughter of the late Allen Clyde and Mildred Irene Smith Kimbrough, she was a native of Lincoln County, a secretary with the USDA for 44 years, and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years Carl Groce of Fayetteville, daughter Beverly Crabtree and husband Marc of Fayetteville, grandchildren Whitney C. Duncan and husband Dakota and Casey L. Crabtree, great-grandson Lakota Diesel Duncan all of Fayetteville, sisters Rachel Kimbrough and Julia Quick both of Vanntown, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Sandra K. Warren and Jane K. Simms and brother James (Sonny) Kimbrough.

Donna Louise (Reed) Strong

Funeral services for Ms. Donna Louise Strong, age 46, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 2PM Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln cemetery. Ms. Strong passed away Wednesday July 22nd at her residence.
She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of Carl Rayburn and Willa Dean May Reed of Fayetteville who survive. She was a former employee of BFI in Huntsville and a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her parents are her son Christopher Weir of Fayetteville, step-daughter Anna Marie Strong of Las Vegas, NV, granddaughter Rylie Weir of Flintville, brother Barry Wayne Reed of Fayetteville, sister Carla Michelle Reed Burton and husband Derrick of Murfreesboro, maternal grandmother Essie Louise May of Fayetteville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by paternal grandmother Robbie Lee Reed, Paternal Step-grandmother Hattie Lee Reed, Maternal granddaddy William Robert May and Paternal Granddaddy Kenneth Carlee Reed.

LTC John Porter Massey

Mr. John P. Massey, age 75, passed away Monday morning August 17th at his residence in Kelso. He was a native of Knox County, TN and the son of the late Con S. and Dorothy Maxey Massey. Mr. Massey retired as Lt. Colonel with the U. S. Army after 27 years of service serving during Vietnam. He was a member of the Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca Price Massey of Kelso, three sons John Porter Massey Jr and his wife Michelle of Nolensville, TN, Philip David Massey of Santa Fe, TN and Charles Noble Massey and wife Beth of Franklin, two step-sons, Troy Robert Holston and wife Leann of Fayetteville and Ray Scott Holston of Kelso, two brothers George Massey of Carolina Shores, SC and Con S. Massey of Savannah, GA, three grandchildren, two adopted grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday August 29th at the Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kirk Smith and Rev. Gill Williams officiating. Burial will be at sundown later that day in the Mulberry cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1PM-2PM at the church

Margaret (Wilkerson) Parsons

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Margaret (Wilkerson) Parsons, age 86 of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Bob DeJarnatt officiating. Mrs. Parsons will be buried beside her husband Hillard Parsons, Jr who passed away in 1999. Mrs. Parsons passed away Thursday afternoon at Huntsville Hospital.
A daughter of the late R.A. and Peggy Neff Wilkerson, she was a native of Pryor, OK and a longtime resident of Fayetteville. She was a homemaker and a member of Washington Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include four sons John R. Parsons and wife Emily of Scottsboro, AL, Hillard L. Parsons, William J. Parsons and wife Karen, and Jack N. Parsons and wife Kathy all of Fayetteville, six grandchildren, Hardee A. Parsons and wife Jena of West Palm Beach, FL, Courtney Parsons, Jared Parsons, Ashley Parsons, Robert Parsons, and Rachel Parsons all of Fayetteville. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister Neva Hamilton and brother Luke Wilkerson.
Visitation with the family will be from 9-11 AM Saturday morning at Higgins Funeral Home.
It is Mrs. Parsons’ request that memorials be made to the Washington Street Church of Christ Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
