Funeral services for Mrs. Della Gant, age 88, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Graham and Bro. Ennis Hyman officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill cemetery beside her husband James Ingle Gant who passed away in 1983. Mrs. Gant passed away Monday morning, October 5, 2009, at Crestwood Medical Center.
A daughter of the late Will and Omie Harris Meeks, she was a native of Grundy County, a homemaker, and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Sandra Long and husband Bruce of Fayetteville, son Randy Gant and wife Lisa of Harvest, AL, step-son Bill Gant and wife Joyce of Huntsville, step-daughter Elizabeth Biggs and husband Charles of Decatur, AL, grandson Brian Long of Fayetteville, granddaughter Brittany Gant of Harvest, AL, step-grandsons Joshua Skurupey and Brandon Anderson both of Huntsville, step-granddaughter Jerae Sperr, 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her step-son Maurice Gant.

Dana (Wells) Richardson

Funeral services for Mrs. Dana Richardson, age 54, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11 AM Monday at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Kirkland cemetery. Mrs. Richardson passed away Saturday morning at Lincoln Medical Center.
A daughter of the late Joseph Clarence and Dorothy Josephene Anderson Wells, she was a native of Lincoln County and a member of the Baptist Church in Taft.
Survivors include her daughter Audria Richardson of Fayetteville, grandson Nicholas Beverly of Fayetteville, brother Joe Wells of Springfield, TN, sisters Linda Graham of Alexandria, VA, and Alice Mills of Springfield, TN. She was preceded in death by a daughter Penny Lynn Richardson, brother James D. “Donnie” Wells, and sister Margaret Poarch.
Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Sunday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.
James Delbert Booth

Funeral services for Mr. James Delbert Booth, age 82, of Fayetteville will be conducted Friday at 11AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Mr. Booth passed away Tuesday in Donalson Care Center.
He was a native of Clay County, MS and the son of the late Delbert Manley and Lillian Baxter Landon Booth. Mr. Booth was retired Director of Engineering at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL and continued to volunteer there for 12 years after his retirement. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, Lt. Col. with the Army National Guard and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an Eagle Scout with Double Palms as well as a Scout Master and Mason.
Survivors include his wife Norma Dubuisson Booth of Fayetteville, daughters, Beverly Anderson and husband Paul of Elora, Angie Huffman and husband Cliff of Sewanee and Brenda Brown of Nashville, son Allen Booth of Fayetteville, grandchildren James Philip Booth, Daniel Booth Brown, Robert Earle Brown, and Zachary Dillon Huffman, granddaughter Noelle Marie Anderson and grandson Samuel Wayne Kellum, great grandchildren Colin, Evan, and Mason Booth. Mr. Booth was preceded in death by son James D. Booth, Jr.
Visitation with the family will be Friday morning 9-11 AM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lincoln County Cancer Society.
Horace Thompson
Mr. Horace “Mutt” Thompson, born October 22, 1923 went to meet the Lord on January 21, 2010. He was born and raised around Wheelerton, Dellrose and Hot Rock areas and was the son of the late Joseph Robert and Laura Hall Thompson. He was a U.S. Veteran and married
fifty-three years to Virginia Mitchell Thompson who passed away November 2009. “Mutt” as he was known by all, was the youngest of six children, his sisters were Lena Carter, Ruth Roberts and Cathleen Stone Barnes and brothers Grady Thompson, Robert Jean Thompson, all preceded him in death. Mutt proudly drove a school bus many years for Boonshill School carrying children to school, games and senior trips and was an electrician. He enjoyed fishing, hunting ginseng and traveling with friends.
Survivors include nephews Joe Thompson and wife DeLois of Fayetteville, Buck Roberts and wife Faye of Bunker Hill, Earl Wayne Roberts and wife of Pulaski, and David Stone and wife Barbara of Maye, Texas, and nieces Jane Thompson Bradley, Kathy Thompson Jennings and husband Lance, Marie Evans, and Helen Harris all of Fayetteville and a host of extended family and special friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2PM Sunday at Shiloh cemetery with John Sanders officiating. Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening 4-7 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Shiloh cemetery. Memorials may be mailed to Joyce Hall, 1499 Old Elkton Pike, Dellrose, TN.
Joe Childers Abernathy

Funeral Mass for Mr. Joe Childers Abernathy, age 81, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11AM Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Jose officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery. Mr. Abernathy passed away Wednesday March 3rd in Lincoln Medical Center.
He was a native of Giles County, TN and the son of the late Clarence (Pat) and Elsie Childers Abernathy Jr, was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mr. Abernathy was a Tennessee State Trooper from 1950-1964 and was retired Superintendent of public works from the city of Fayetteville. He served on the Fayetteville School Board and the Fayetteville Board of Mayor and Alderman.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Betty Finley Abernathy of Fayetteville, daughter Elsie Ann Abernathy West and husband Larry of Fayetteville, granddaughter Courtney West Schmidt of Goodlettsville, TN, great-grandson Daniel Evan Schmidt and great-granddaughter Aubrey Faith Schmidt, brother Clarence Wayne Abernathy and wife Susie of Brentwood, nephews Bobby Phillips and Patrick Phillips both of Pulaski, nieces Holly Giddings of Louisville and Pamela Beth Abernathy of Birmingham.
Mr. Abernathy was preceded in death by son Robert Finley Abernathy and sister Mary Beth Phillips.
Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5-8PM with Rosary at 6:30pm at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Anthony’s Church Building Fund or the Fayetteville Lincoln County Humane Society.
Robbie Lee Sisk

Funeral services for Mr. Robbie Lee Sisk, age 69, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 10 AM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Rogers and Joe Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon cemetery. Mr. Sisk passed away Saturday afternoon at his residence.
A son of the late Earl and Nannie Sue Richardson Sisk, he was a native of Lincoln County, and a member of Molino Church of Christ.
In his early years, he was a school bus driver for the Lincoln County School Systems. He then began a lengthy career as a route supervisor for Avalon Dairies, followed by a short career as a car salesman with Bob Harrison Ford. He then became a route salesman for Purity Dairies. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Wanda Sisk, sons Mike (Martha) Sisk and Danny (Lisa) Sisk, step-sons Mike (Telisa) Logan and Troy (Debbie) Logan, grandchildren Brandon, Hunter, and Adam Sisk, 4 step-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, brother Tommy (Becky) Sisk, sisters Patsy (Billy) Gray and Jean (Buddy) Brooks, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Louise Pitts Casey, brother Allen Sisk, and first wife Emily West Sisk.

A daughter of the late William Oliver “Bill” and Maybell Vaughn Pigg, she was a native of Madison County, AL, formerly employed as a ST. Paul Head Start teacher for 31 years, and a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband Luther M. (Luke) Mearse, daughters Glenda Honey and Theressa Cheeves and husband Dwayne all of Fayetteville, grandchildren Robbie Honey and wife Lacey of McBurg, Brittany Rogers of Flintville, and Lucas Garrett of Fayetteville, and great-grandchildren Lane and Kylie Honey both of McBurg. She was preceded in death by a son Thomas Oliver Rogers and a step-son Scotty Mearse.

Funeral service for Mrs. Robbie (Ramsey) Nash age 79, of Fayetteville will be conducted Friday morning at 10 AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens . Mrs. Nash passed away Tuesday morning in Donalson Care Center.
She was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late James Claude and Alma Croney Ramsey, retired registered nurse from Elk Valley Home Health and a member of the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband Marion Nash of Fayetteville, daughter Nancy Jalovec and husband Martin of Huntsville, AL son Clay McAllister, of Fayetteville, and grandchildren: Brian Moore and wife Kelly of Tampa, FL, Jennifer Moore Roberts and husband David of Birmingham and Blake Hood of Tennessee.
Mrs. Nash was preceded in death by daughter: Vickie McAlister, sisters: Sarah Tallman, Katherine Steelman and Betty Jean Jeans and a brother: James Ramsey.

James G. "Azo" Brown

Funeral services for Mr. James G. "Azo" Brown, age 85, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 1 PM Monday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Jones and Rev. Kirk Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln cemetery Mr. Brown passed away Saturday evening at Centennial Medical Center.
A native of Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Horace and Lucy Ann Marshall Brown, retired from the telephone company, and a small business owner. Mr. Brown was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII in the 101st Airborne Division 501 Regiment. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the invasion of Normandy. He earned numerous medals including the Purple Heart. He was a member of Lincoln Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Glyn Brown of Fayetteville, step-sons Terry Cowley of Fayetteville and Nickey Cowley of Meridianville, granddaughters Tammy Smartt and husband Barry of Flintville and Tabitha Vanns and husband Kenny of Thompson Station, TN, and great-grandchildren Cole Smartt of Flintville, Colin, Alexis, and Olivia Vanns all of Thompson Station., and four nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Derek Douglas Gatlin
Funeral services for Mr. Derek Douglas Gatlin, age 27, of Delrose will be conducted at 11 AM Friday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh cemetery. Mr. Gatlin passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Lincoln Medical Center.
A son of Eddy Dean Gatlin and Brenda Smith Anderson, he was a native of Lincoln County, employed with Lincoln Health Systems as a pharmacist, and a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his father Eddy Dean Gatlin and wife Cammy of Delrose, mother Brenda Smith Anderson and husband Danny Ray of Lawrenceburg, grandfather Edward Ray Gatlin, and uncle Benny Gatlin. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Burnadean Gatlin and grandparents Carl and Patty Smith.
