Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he attended, with burial in Yorkville cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home has charge. He was a 26-year member of Loyal Order of the Moose, trustee of Dyersburg Moose Lodge and member of the Legion of the Moose. Mr. Hanley, the husband of Mary E. Hanley, also leaves a daughter, Lisa Doop of Gates; a son, Lee Hanley, and his mother, Frances Hanley, both of Newbern; a brother, Robert L. Hanley of Martin, and three grandchildren. Newbern -- J.D. King, 83, retired farmer and owner of Templeton Store, died Tuesday at Dyersburg Manor. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery. He was a World War II Army veteran, former Dyer County constable, and member of Harmony Baptist Church and the American Legion. Mr. King, the widower of Martha B. King, leaves a daughter, Barbara Jean Anthony of Jackson, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

KATHRYN DEPHIA PAYNE COLSTON, 81, retired Memphis City School teacher, died at home June 14, 2005. She was born in Homer, Georgia, August 25, 1923. She received her Masters Degree in Health and Physical Education. She received numerous accolades signed by governors of various states. She held a number of offices in Alpha Delta Kappa (chapter & state president, & S. E. Regional President). She was state president and Southern District president of Health, Physical Education & Recreation Assoc. She loved to travel. She was blessed with many friends, had a generous heart and was an "elegant lady" in every way! Mrs. Colston was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. ANDREW LASSLO, 82, of Memphis, TN, passed away June 14, 2005. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 18, at Christ United Methodist Church at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Dr. Lasslo was retired Professor and Chairman, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, College of Pharmacy, University of Tennessee, serving in that capacity from 1960 to 1990. He authored many scientific publications. In 1989, he was designated Alumni Distinguished Service Professor by the University of Tennessee's National Alumni Association. A native of Mukacevo, Czechoslovakia, he was awarded the Americanism Medal by the Daughters of The American Revolution in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Lasslo, his daughter and son-in-law, Millicent and Dennis Meeks, and his granddaughter, Adalyn Meeks, all of Memphis, TN. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Christ United Methodist Church.

Betty Adair Turner Lenhardt, 58, departed from her loving family into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday June 14 at her home. Originally from Jonesboro, Arkansas, Betty and her parents John and Bea Adair moved to Memphis where Betty continued her education at Overton High School as well as DeShazo School of Music. In 1968 Betty received a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Memphis State in Education and then received a Master's Degree from Midwestern State University of Wichita Falls, Tx. Betty invested 27 years in the lives of young children retiring from University of Memphis Campus School where she taught 1st grade. She was an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis College of Education and a member of Kappa Delta Pi. Betty was a faithful member of Kirby Woods Baptist Church where she met her beloved husband of 10 years Albert Lenhardt. In addition to Al, Betty is survived by her father John Adair, her son Drew Turner, her daughter-in-law Nicole Turner, her soon-to-be granddaughter Ella Elizabeth Turner and her step-daughter Dawn Lenhardt, all of Memphis. She is also survived by her step-son Shawn Lenhardt of New Jersey. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Kirby Woods Baptist Church with interment

JAMES BENNETT, 82, of Caldwell, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Baptist East Hospital, Memphis. Mr. Bennett, an honored World War II Veteran, lived out his entire life as a farmer in St. Francis, Lee and Phillips Counties of Arkansas. Having served on numerous boards and committees Mr Bennett and his leadership will be missed by the community he loved. His wife Loretta and four children, Bill Bennett of Benton, AR., Jim Bennett of Germantown, TN., Jerry Bennett of McRae, AR. and Judy Hull of Islamorada, FL. survive him. He also leaves behind one brother Bing Bennett of Bismarck, AR., and two sisters Laverne Vaughn of Mayflower, AR and Loese Lane of Melbourne Beach, FL. Mr. Bennett was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.
