Abe D. Mims Jr., 76, of Memphis, retired mechanic for Kimberly-Clark, died Wednesday at Methodist Fayette Hospital in Somerville. Services will be at noon Saturday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was a Korean War Army veteran, a Mason, a Shriner and attended Bellevue Baptist Church. Mr. Mims, the husband of Marcelle Mims for 51 years, also leaves a daughter, Darla Kohlruss of North Bend, Wash.; a son, Darrell Mims of Eads; three sisters, Loretta Crutchfield of Brownsville, Tenn., Mildred Wiley of Fort Smith, Ark., and Glenda Green of Eads, three grandchildren and a stepgrandchild. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Bellevue Baptist Church.

Leroy Myers, 78, of Memphis, retired from the Postal Service, died Tuesday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Baptist Church with burial in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. N.H. Owens & Son Funeral Home has charge. He was the husband of Georgia Myers.

Diane Phillip, 50, of Memphis, died Monday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Union cemetery. She leaves two daughters, Kassandra Kirk and Jo Ann Washington, and five sisters, Magnolia Phillip, Debra Phillip, Lillie Phillip, Emma Barron and Nena Smith, all of Memphis, and nine grandchildren.

Ethel M. Prewitt, 81, of Memphis, retired cook for Memphis City Schools, died Tuesday at Bright Glade Convalescent Center. Services will be at noon Tuesday at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church on Parkway with burial in National cemetery. M.J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home has charge. She was a member of Christ Baptist Church. Mrs. Prewitt, the widow of James Charles Prewitt, leaves a daughter, Evelyn Prewitt-Davis; four sons, George Thompson, Ronnie Thompson, Curtis Prewitt and Jerome Prewitt, and a brother, Leon Payne, all of Memphis, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Jerry Reese, 46, of Memphis, forklift operator for KLM Logistics, died Monday at his home. Services will be at noon Monday at M.J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Oakhill cemetery in Hernando. He was a member of Oakhill Missionary Baptist Church. He leaves a daughter, Tiffany Reese; his mother, Robbie Beauregard, and four sisters, Tisha M. Beauregard, Janice Beauregard, Angelik Beauregard and Joanne Cleveland, all of Memphis.

Melvin L. Rice, 35, of Arlington, police officer for Memphis Police Department, died Saturday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at noon Saturday at New Azusa Ministries, where he was a member, with burial in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. M.J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home has charge. He was a Gulf War veteran. Mr. Rice, the husband of Devita T. Rice, also leaves a son, Kevin Carlton Lavence Rice of Oceanside, Calif.; his mother, Shirley Rice; two sisters, Tamala Middleton and Kennitha Gill, and two brothers, Checliss Rice and Melvin Rice Jr., all of Memphis.

Clarence W. Robinson, 77, of Memphis, died Wednesday at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Historic First Baptist Beale, where he was a member, with burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday at West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home has charge. He leaves a sister, Jeweline R. Crenshaw of Memphis.

Sam L. 'Papa' Salvaggio, 68, of Memphis, retired purchasing agent for Advanced Plumbing Co., died Wednesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roller Family Funeral Home with burial in Memory Hill Gardens. He was a Navy veteran, a communicant of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett and a member of the Moose Lodge. Mr. Salvaggio, the husband of Joann Salvaggio, also leaves two daughters, Cynthia Marie Davis and Tammy Lee Kelly, both of Bartlett; a son, Jeffrey Joe Salvaggio of Memphis; three sisters, Bernice RePossi of Somerville, Angeline Smith of Logansville, Ga., and Anntonette Nicholson of Winter Haven, Fla.; three brothers, Jerome Salvaggio of Cordova, and Frank Salvaggio and Vince Salvaggio, both of Memphis, and six grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Heart Association.
