Jean Coakley Pierce, 59, of Murfreesboro, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004.
A native of Fulton, N.Y., she was the daughter of Alice White Coakley, of Fulton, N.Y., and the late John Henry Coakley.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by husband Albert K. Pierce; son Kip A. Pierce, of Rockvale; daughter and son-in-law Heidi J. and Allen Agnew, of Murfreesboro; daughter-in-law Risa M. Pierce, of Binghamton, N.Y.; brothers Edward Coakley, of Fulton, N.Y., and James Coakley, of Webster, N.Y.; grandchildren Garrett K. Pierce, Corbett J. Pierce, Erica Kelly Agnew, Amanda Jean Agnew and Anna Louise Agnew.
Mrs. Pierce was a member of the State Street Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Pierce was a member and past president of the Fulton Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.
Steve Hopkins Lindell, 70, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at his residence.
A native of Ackaman, Miss., Mr. Lindell was retired as owner and manager of Liddell Insurance and a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving in the Korean conflict. He was the son of the late Oscar B. and Mary Ada Blain Liddell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavodice Frances Liddell.
Survivors include daughters Stevie Liddell of Wartrace and Holly Liddell of Unionville and brothers John Liddell of Louisville, Ky., and Oscar B. ‘Dick” Liddell of Columbiana, Ala.
Oscar Calvin Jordan, 79, of Rockvale died, Tuesday Feb. 3, 2004, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Frankie Jordan; his sons Fred Jordan, James (Patricia) Jordan, Nathaniel (Viola) Jordan, Anthony Jordan, Carl Yeargins; daughters Marjorie Jordan, Priscilla Jordan, April (Alex) Jordan-Ewing and Katherine (Tony) Fulton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also has two living brothers: John (Clatie) Jordan and William (Willie Mae) Jordan and a sister: Ola B. Rucker.
He was the son of the late Sam Wyatt and Jennie Williamson Jordan.
James E. (Jimmy) Brandon, 57, passed away Saturday Jan. 31, 2004, following a sudden illness.
He was the son of the late Paul Brandon & late Lurene Burks Brandon.
Mr. Brandon is survived by his wife, Sandy Bryson Brandon of Woodbury; two daughters & sons-in-law, Jamie Brandon Hudson & James of Carthage and Amy Brandon Hudson & Kyle of Rockvale; one brother and sister-in-law, Randy & Sandra Brandon of Woodbury; three grandsons, Dillon Hudson, Nicholas Hudson and Jacob Watson; and two nieces, Darci Brandon and Candy Jones Bryant.
He was a member of the Burt Baptist Church, where he was Church Moderator and a member of the deacon body, a veteran of Vietnam serving in the Army, an Assistant Vice President of 1st National Bank and a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Jesse J. Anderson, age 71, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at his home in Eagleville, TN. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Anderson; daughter, Loretha Beach; sons, Jesse J. (Freda) Anderson, Jr., John Abe (Linda) Anderson; sister, Annie Mary (Houston) Norris; brothers, Rev. Edward (Sheila) Anderson; Deacon Wesley (Ruby) Anderson and Richard B. Anderson; grandchildren; Pierre, Zachary, Johnetta, Leah, Damon, Omarion and others; uncle, William Fisher.

Woodrow ‘Mutt’ Rooker, 87, of Eagleville died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, in Murfreesboro.
A native of Des Arc, Ark., Mr. Rooker was the son of the late Elmer D. and Ruth Alford Rooker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a member and deacon of the Eagleville Baptist Church and was retired from the Avco Corp. in Nashville after 29 years of service.
He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrell, Jeff, Jimmie, Bill and Fred Rooker.
Survivors include his wife, Lela Rooker of Eagleville; daughter Connie Rooker of Eagleville; sons and daughters-in-law Don and Janie Rooker of Eagleville and Ray and Debbie Rooker of Murfreesboro; sisters Ayleene Camp of Orlando, Fla., and Xemenia Martin of Lascassas; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law Donna and Jim Ralston of St. Augustine, Fla., and Brandi and David Goin of Woodbury; and great-grandchildren Ashton Jones, Bailey Goin and Cameron Goin.
Ishmeal Eugene Flippo, 78, of Bell Buckle, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at his home.
A native of Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Alex and Rosa Woodall Flippo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Flippo.
He is survived by daughters Priscilla Lehman of Spartanburg, S.C., and Brenda Gowins of Midland-Fosterville; son Jackie Flippo of Murfreesboro; brothers Belton Flippo and Bud Flippo, both of Longview; sister Sadie Jones of Unionville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Flippo was retired from the Murfreesboro Water Department and a member of the Baptist church.
James Samuel Read, age 86, of Unionville, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, in Franklin.
Elder Read was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Basil Dewitt and Fannie Ruth Heath Read. He was retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation and a retired Primitive Baptist Minister.
Elder Read was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. May Read, who died in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine Gatlin Read, Unionville, Tenn.; daughters, Laura Ruth Smith, of Unionville, Tenn., and Sandra R. Gillespie, of Memphis, Tenn.; son, James (Dee) Read, of Cortlanda, Ill.; brother, Harold Wayne Read, of Montgomery, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Lorene Puckett Brown, 83, of Rockvale died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Willie and Maggie Holden Puckett.
She attended Middle Tennessee State University and retired from Palmer Produce as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, E. J. Puckett and Herman Puckett.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, James A. Brown of Rockvale.
Thelma Sims Comer, 92, of Murfreesboro died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at MTMC.
A native of Christiana, Mrs. Comer was the daughter of the late Jordan D. and Pauline Powell Sims. She was a retired teacher with the Rutherford County School System and also worked in special education in Davidson County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was married
to the late Robert Reed Comer and also was preceded in death by daughter Caroline Comer Wells and sister Janice Jennings.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Polly Comer and James Seth Tidwell of Rockvale; grandchildren, Connie Gladden, Jimmy Tidwell, James and Amy Wells, Jamie and Phillip Robertson and Donna and Joe Morris; great-grandchildren Connor and Caroline Gladden, Molly and Emily Wells, McKenzie and Katie Robertson and Zachary and Leslie Morris; brother-in-law Paul S. Jennings of Christiana; nephew Paul E. and his wife Suzanne Jennings of Christiana.
Harry M. Patillo, 85, of Eagleville, died Tuesday Jan. 13, 2004, at Northcrest Medical Center in Springfield.
A native of Murfreesboro, he was the son of the late Thomas and Dora Dill Patillo.
He is survived by daughter Charlotte (Jim) Gray, of Springfield; and son John Patillo, of Eagleville; and grandchildren Deborah Gray, Michael (Rachel) Gray and Johnathan Gray.
Mr. Patillo was preceded in death by his wife, Lilliam Webb Patillo, who died in 1994. He was a member of the Eagleville Church of Christ. Mr. Patillo began first grade at MTSU, then called the Normal School, moved to Central High School, then called the Training School, and then on to Smyrna High, where he graduated in 1934. After serving in the Air Force in World War II in the chemical warfare division between 1942 and 1946, he was discharged, having attained the rank of sergeant.
He was postmaster of the Eagleville post office for 35 years. Mr. Patillo said the biggest changes in the postal system were the zip codes. During the last 10 years before his retirement, he became a training officer and was sent all over Tennessee, giving instructions to new postmasters in the area. After retirement, Mr. Patillo spent many hours working on his farm and raising black angus cattle. He was an active member of the Eagleville Lions Club and he was the only active charter member.
