Beulah Shannon
Beulah G. Shannon, 86, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007.
Beulah was a native of Soddy and a graduate of Soddy High School. She was a former member of White Oak Baptist Church where she sang in the Oasis Choir and currently a member of Hixson First Baptist Church.
Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Shannon Sr.; and a son, Leroy Shannon.
She is survived by her three sons, Robert Allen (Sharon) Shannon, Raymond L. (Hope) Shannon Jr. and Terry (Darlene) Shannon; daughter-in-law, Linda Shannon; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildrengreat - grandchildren greatgrandchildren ; four brothers, J.C., Elbert, Don and Clinton Grant; one sister, Carrie Wollam; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Chattanooga National cemetery with Dr. Joel Wood officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Sam Shipley
Sam “Popa Sam” Shipley, 75, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away at home in the loving care of his family and friends Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007.
He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Pearl Steakley Shipley; brothers, Harold, Charlie and Wilb Shipley; daughter, Betty Shipley; twin daughters, Betty and Betsy.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Little Bit Johnson” Shipley; daughters, Amanda (Bobby) Davis, Sandra (Mitchell ) Brown, Donna (Rex) Welch, all of Bakewell, Ruby (Ronnie) McGee, Sherry (Bill) Thomas, Cindy (Roland) Green, all of Soddy-Daisy ; sons, Robert Shipley, of Soddy-Daisy, Sam (Andrea) Shipley, of Dunlap; siblings, Wanda Culver, Leon, Dave and Red Shipley, all of Soddy-Daisy, Peggy Swearengin, of Hixson, Pat Bowman, of Chickamauga, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in May cemetery in Sale Creek.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Welch
Robert Hughes “Bob” Welch, 80, formerly of Hixson, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, in a Port Orange, Fla., hospital.
Mr. Welch was a butcher by trade and worked for Swift & Co. for more than 22 years, for the Mount Vernon Restaurant in Chattanooga, and for Publix Supermarket in Daytona, Fla. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer, belonging to Creeks Bend Golf Club for more than 30 years.
Mr. Welch was a member of Hixson Masonic Lodge 727, Hill City Chapter RAM 220, Delta Council 217; Lookout Commandry 14; Chattanooga Scottish Rite; and he was an Alhambra Shriner. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, past High Priest of the Hill City Chapter and past Illustrious Master of the Delta Council.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Helen Sue Green Welch; his parents, William and Delia Welch, of Murray County, Ga.; and seven brothers, Clarence, Henry, Harlan, Cecil, William, Leonard and Reid.
He is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Scott) Powell of Hixson; his companion of the last 12 years, Mary Jane Bethune, South Daytona, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Nathan Malone and the Rev. Harold Ray officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with a Masonic service at the graveside.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

WHITWELL — Brandy ChaVaughn Reeves Scott, 28, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2007.
She was preceded in death by father, Curtis Reeves; great-grandmother, Viola Reeves; cousins, Johnny Francis, Melanie Francis.
Survivors include her husband, Jody Scott; mother and dad, Bridget and Allion Nichols; daughter, Katie Lester; sisters, Mary E. Edna Middlebrooks
FLINTSTONE — Edna Middlebrooks, 95, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, in a local health care facility.
She had been a resident of North Georgia for 78 years coming from Fort Payne, Ala. Mrs. Middlebrooks was of the Holiness faith and was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Middlebrooks Sr.; and daughters, Betty Jones and Shirlean Smith.
Survivors are son, Ernest (Elizabeth) Middlebrooks, Chickamauga ; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren ; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with the Rev. Billy Parker officiating.
