SPRINGVILLE - Oscar Charles Brewer, 75, died Thursday, April 17, at VA Hospital in Nashville. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at his home with Harry Hawk officiating.
Mr. Brewer was born June 3, 1932 in Union County, Georgia to the late C.W. Brewer and Esta Dillard Brewer. He retired after 21 years in the Air Force and worked at Tecumseh Products. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Archie Maxwell and Orlean Buchanan.
Survivors include: three daughters, Charlotte K. (Jimmy) Foster and Denise (Steve) Dinwiddie, both of Paris, and Patricia F. Foster of Springville; two sons, David L. (Sandy) Brewer of Springville and Dale S. (Dianne) Brewer of Henry; one sister, Hazel (Billy) Moody of Dallas, Georgia; one brother, Bobby (Barbara) Brewer of Monroe, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

McKENZIE - Opal Oliene Townes, 79, died Thursday, April 17, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Funeral services were Monday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Wiggins officiating. Burial followed in Union Academy cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Townes was born April 26, 1928 in Carroll County to the late Howard Morgan and Callie Pratt (Barker) Morgan. She was a cafeteria worker for Bethel College. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Townes.
Survivors include: two sons, Jim (Lori) Townes of Crown Point, Indiana and Mike (Debra) Townes of Garland, Texas; two daughters, Brenda Shannon and Lisa Townes, both of McKenzie; two brothers, Frank (Margaret Ann) Morgan of McKenzie and Jessie (Pat) Morgan of Memphis; two sisters, Lena Trantham of Memphis and Dorothy Melton of McKenzie; and six grandchildren, Melissa Shannon, Ashley Williams, Daniel Williams, Nick Townes, Elizabeth Townes and Jason Douthit.

BRUCETON - Edward Harvey Birdwell, Sr., 68, died Thursday, April 17, at Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Davis and Bro. Jimmy Ellis officiating. Burial followed in Hebron cemetery.
Mr. Birdwell was born November 9, 1939 in Benton County to the late Calous Birdwell and Geneva (Rosson) Birdwell. He was a Baptist by belief and a shipping clerk for the Henry I. Siegel Company. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Marie Birdwell; and two brothers, Wilburn Birdwell and Dwayne Birdwell.
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years Jean Birdwell; two daughters, Betty Jean Birdwell and Margaret Ann (Kenneth) Dixon, both of Bruceton; four sons, Edward Earl Birdwell and John Wayne Birdwell, both of Bruceton, Edward Harvey (Stacey) Birdwell, Jr. of McKenzie, and Darren Lee (Lisa) Birdwell of Hollow Rock; two brothers, Harvey Lee Birdwell of Hollow Rock and Jerry Birdwell of Camden; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
EDWARD L. "SQUEAK" OZIER

BUENA VISTA - Edward Levi "Squeak" Ozier , 87, died Friday, April 18, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Boyd officiating. Burial followed in McAuley cemetery.
Mr. Ozier was born March 16, 1921 in Carroll County to the late Edwin Ozier and Leona (Kee) Ozier. He served in the Army during World War II and was a self-employed carpenter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Estelle (Fowler) Ozier; one sister, Gertrude Kee; and one granddaughter, Christy Patterson.
Survivors include: his wife, Janis (Cary) Ozier of Buena Vista; two daughters, Donna (Ricky) Stumphf of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Sherry Ozier of Hollow Rock; one stepdaughter, Wanda (Ralph) Rush of Huntingdon; one son, Edward L. Ozier, Jr. of Lexington; two stepsons, Mark (Joyce) Cary of Parsons and Mike (Cindy) Cary of Westport; one brother, Warren G. Ozier of Buena Vista; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

HUNTINGDON - Cornelia Elizabeth Grant, 84, died Wednesday, April 16, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Huntingdon with Bro. Fred Ward and Bro. Dossie Wheatley officiating. Burial followed in Parker's Crossroads cemetery.
Mrs. Grant was born February 29, 1924 in Yuma to the late Leland Taylor and Cynthia (Flake) Taylor. She was a retired cook for the Huntingdon Primary School and a member of First Baptist Church of Huntingdon.
Survivors include: her husband of 66 years, Nolen M. Grant of Huntingdon; two daughters, Sandy (Philip) Barnett of Huntingdon and Judy (Cary Don) Smith of Clarksburg; two sons, Richard Grant of Huntingdon and Russell (Janice) Grant of Jackson; two sisters, Gracie Smith of Ontario, California and Dorothy Porter of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Robert Wayne Taylor of St. Petersburg, Florida and James Taylor of Clarksburg; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

McKENZIE - Annie Laura Delaney, 96, died Tuesday, April 15, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Revs. Dennis Trull and Clayton Owen officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Delaney was born January 11, 1912 in McKenzie to the late John McDonal and Emma Myrtice McNeil Townes. She was a retired Brown Shoe Factory employee, homemaker and member of McKenzie First Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Delaney; two daughters, Ann Moore and Myrtice Marie Delaney; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: one daughter, Nell Chandler of McKenzie; two sons, Dwayne (Thelma) Delaney of McKenzie and Bobby (Monya) Delaney of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; one sister, Frances Curtis of McKenzie; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

BRUCETON - Mable Beatrice Postwood, 78, died Monday, January 8, at her home. Funeral services were Thursday, January 10, at 2 p.m. at Bruceton Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hollingsworth officiating. Burial followed in Barren Springs cemetery near Bruceton.
Ms. Postwood was born May 7, 1929 in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late Edward Crockett Walter and Serna Beatrice House Walters. She was a retired beautician and member of Barren Springs Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: one sister, Dorthelia Haynes of Belleville, Illinois; and four brothers, Kenneth Walters and Charles Walters, both of Bruceton, Eugene Walters of Camden and Jay Crockett Walters of Maryville, California.

McKENZIE - Freda Ruth Guill, 93, died Tuesday, January 8, at McKenzie Health Care Center. Funeral services were Thursday, January 10, at 2 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Dr. Pratt Hubbard officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Guill was born June 5, 1914 in McKenzie to the late Fred Sadler Rogers and Bessie Ruth Schrader Rogers. She was a former teacher at Christmasville and Greenhill Schools, former food service employee at McKenzie High School and Bethel College, and member of McKenzie Presbyterian Church USA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Maurice A. Guill; one sister, Hilda Baker; and one brother, John Rogers.
Survivors include: one daughter, Margaret (Dirk) Brakebusch of Cordova; and two sisters, Shirley Brawner and Helen Fowler, both of McKenzie.

PARIS - Maudlean Norman, 85, died Tuesday, January 8, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris. Funeral services were Friday, January 11, at 11 a.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Otis Hinton officiating. Burial followed in Foundry Hill Community of Christ cemetery in Puryear.
Mrs. Norman was born April 27, 1922 in Benton, Kentucky to the late George Hendrix and Gracie Lillian Lindsey Hendrix. She worked for 22 years for Home Service Laundry in Paris, babysat children in her home for many years, and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. "Buck" Norman; one son, Jimmy Franklin Norman; one sister, Mary Jo Miller; and one brother, Claude Hendrix.
Survivors include: four daughters, Kathy (Doug) Myers of Springville, Treva (Leon) Berkley of Paris, Faye Hudson of Louisville, Kentucky, and Willodean (Lonnie) Overby of Puryear; two sons, Bill (Betty) Norman of Paris and George (Kathy) Norman of Huntingdon; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
REV. AUGUSTOR HAYNES

McKENZIE - Rev. Augustor Haynes, 74, died Thursday, January 10, at V.A. Hospital in Memphis. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 15, at 1 p.m. at Obion District Association Building in McKenzie with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Rev. Haynes was born October 31, 1928 in McKenzie to the late John Haynes and Bessie Eiley Haynes. He was educated in the Carroll County public schools, served in the armed forced in the branch of the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He devoted his life to the ministry for over 32 years. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include: two sisters, Martha Parks of Cleveland, Ohio and Clara Weatherford of McKenzie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

YUMA - Barbara Sue Moody, 52, died Saturday, January 12, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services were Monday, January 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Clint Ezell officiating. Burial followed in New Hope cemetery.
Mrs. Moody was born December 4, 1955 in Milan. She was a department manager in the jewelry department for Wal-Mart, Inc. in Huntingdon for over 30 years and a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifton Dewayne Cary.
Survivors include: her husband of 33 years, Tommy Moody; one daughter, Rebecca (Brad) Smith of Yuma; her mother, Bonnie Fay Cary of Yuma; one brother, David M. Cary of Yuma; and one granddaughter.

YUMA - Troy Ray Wood, 72, died Thursday, January 10, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 12, at 1 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Halter officiating. Burial followed at New Hope cemetery.
Mr. Wood was born October 31, 1935 in Wildersville. He worked for Johnson Control as a Quality Tech, served eight years in the National Guard and was a member of the Scarce Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Thomas Wood.
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Mary Wood of Yuma; his mother, Vonnie Faye Wood; two daughters, Louise (Jesse) Tucker of Huntingdon and Lisa (Jim) Garland of Henderson; one son, Marty (Janet) Wood of Yuma; four sisters, Sarah Smith, Joy Faye (Taft) Watson, Lucy (Fred) Parker, and Brenda (Wallace) Anderson; three brothers, Joe Thomas (Barbara) Wood and Rodger (Bennie Mae) Wood, both of Lexington, and Randall (Shelia) Wood of Knoxville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bullington, retired, was born November 15, 1953 to the late Lonnie Hurchel Bullington and Winona Mallard.
Survivors include: one daughter, Stacee Bullington of South Haven, Mississippi; and two sons, Ty Bullington of Nashville and Ryan Bullington of South Haven, Mississippi.

HUNTINGDON - Gerald Ray Melson, 74, died Thursday, April 17, at Veterans Hospital in Nashville. Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
Mr. Melson was born May 26, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Ward and Robbie McCory Melson. He was self-employed. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Masse Melson.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Melson Riddle of West Chicago, Illinois and Christine Ehomieczewski of Lambart, Illinois; one son, Jerry (JayJay) Melson of Huntingdon; and seven grandchildren.
