McKENZIE - Mr. Phillip Dale Jones, 54, formerly of Nashville and Atlanta, died Thursday, October 2 at his residence in McKenzie. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Burial was in the Everett's Chapel cemetery near McKenzie.
Mr. Jones was a 1967 graduate of McKenzie High School, a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict and retired in 1998 from AT&T in Nashville and Douglasville, Georgia.
He was born September 30, 1949, the son of Elizabeth Campbell Jones of McKenzie and the late Harry Lee Jones. He was the grandson of the late Strawl and Clee Campbell and the late John and Lockie Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Rader Jones; three sons, Michael Jones of Winston, Georgia, Christopher Jones of Milan and Allen Jones of Villa Rica, Georgia; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Diana Haney of Panama City, Florida, Brenda Woodard of Camden, Beth Callis of White Bluff and Sherry Jones of McKenzie.
Vernon Lee Mills

CEDAR GROVE - Funeral services for Vernon Lee Mills, 89, were at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 5 at Reed's Chapel with burial in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Mr. Mills, retired from Milan Arsenal and a farmer, died Saturday, October 4 at Jackson, Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Wood, Nancy Coffman and Ginger Baxter, all of Cedar Grove and Annie Ruth Floenghel of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Earline Jones of Cedar Grove; one brother, Russell Mills of Cedar Grove; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Mills and one daughter, Betty June Mills.
Ronnie Ray Scates
1950-2003
CHURCH HILL: Ronnie Ray Scates, 53, passed away on Friday, September 26 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 29 at Colonial Funeral Home in Webber City, Virginia. Mr. Scates was born in McKenzie and had resided in Church Hill.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany. He was a millwright by profession and was last employed at AFB. He attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Scates.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Scates and a grandson, Alex of Memphis; three other children, Hope, Jacob and Joe Blankenbecker and six grandchildren of Church Hill, his mother, Ann Ferrell of McKenzie; a brother, Jack Scates of McKenzie and a sister, Cathy Kassinger of Memphis.
Corene McMinn Blankenship

CEDAR GROVE - Mrs. Corene McMinn Blankenship, 75, died Saturday, October 25 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mark Payne and Brother Anthony Goodman officiating. Interment
followed in the Chapel Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Blankenship, the daughter of the late Luther Dewey and Mary Anna Louise Boles McMinn, was born December 12, 1927 in Carroll County. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank James and two daughters, Mary Lee James and Debbie Gail James. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Justus Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sisters, Lucille Walls of Cedar Grove, Liza Marie Hollowell of Huntingdon, Lorene Pinkley and Mildred Sue Barber, both of Milan and Doris McMinn of Lexington and three brothers, Prentice McMinn of Cedar Grove, Thomas McMinn and Jimmy Don McMinn, both of Milan.
Bobby L. Browning

HUNTINGDON - Mr. Bobby L. Browning, 64, died on Monday, October 20 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Greg Keymon and Brother James Groves officiating. Interment
followed in the Pisgah cemetery.
Mr. Browning was born June 29, 1939 in Atwood to the late Algee and Mattie Lou Wallace Browning. He was a truck driver for Cooper Trucking.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Browning; one daughter, Bobbie Janette Hedge; one son, Michael Browning, both of Huntingdon; one brother, Wallace 'Butch' Browning of Medina; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Patricia Ann Clark

McKENZIE - Services for Patricia Ann Clark, 67, were at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 27 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Huntingdon with Father Edward Fisher officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Clark, widow of Bobby A. Clark, died Friday, October 24 at her residence.
She was born April 29, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Victoria Czarny George and Victor George. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Huntingdon.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Clark of McKenzie; a son, Robert J. Clark of Phoenix, Arizona and two grandchildren.
Kay Garvey

BRUCETON - Services for Kay Garvey, 71, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 26 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in the Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mrs. Garvey, a retired employee of Publix Shirt in Huntingdon, died Friday, October 24 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She was born November 30, 1931 in Okinawa, Japan to the late Yasuichi Taba and Kamei Asato Taba. She was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Jimmy Garvey; a daughter, Taba Phillips of Murfreesboro; a sister Harumi Deiters of Mokena, Illinois.
Edith Marie Mason

Mrs. Mason was born October 21, 1924 in Carroll County to the late Charlie and Lillie Carter. She was an employee of Publix Shirt Corporation and a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Start Huntingdon Chapter #180, having served as a past matron.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Mason of Huntingdon and Anita Sawyers of McKenzie; two sons, Pete Mason and Gary Mason; one sister, Betty Meggs; three brothers, Clarence F. Carter, John Carter and Giles Carter, all of Huntingdon; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Ralph Wiseman

GLEASON - Services for Ralph Wiseman, 72, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 13 at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Sumner and Raymon Carneal officiating. Burial was in the New Valley cemetery.
Mr. Wiseman, a retired maintenance supervisor, died Friday, October 10 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born January 3, 1931 in Gleason to the late William Lee and Annie Bell Edwards Wiseman. He was a member of the Gleason First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rozelle Ozment Wiseman; three sons, Terry Wiseman of Gleason, Jeffery Wiseman of Concord, Kentucky and Dale Wiseman of Sharon; two daughters, Cindy Lampkins and Gail Muzzall, both of Gleason and a sister, Mary Ruth Segraves of Gleason.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby Wiseman, Joe Wiseman, Gus Wiseman and Billy Wiseman and a sister, Shelby Jean Long.
Florence Marguerite Castellaw

ALAMO: Services for Florence Marguerite Castellaw, 83, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 27 at Ronk Funeral Home. Burial was in Castellaw/Norville cemetery.
Mrs. Castellaw, a homemaker, died on Saturday, October 25 at the Crockett County Nursing Home.
Survivors include three daughters, Edie Ward of McKenzie, Florence Walls of Greenwood, South Carolina and Joann Diggs of Brownsville; four sons, John Ed Castellaw and D. Castellaw, both of Alamo, Joe Castellaw and Algie Castellaw, Jr., both of Bells; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Algie Castellaw, Sr.; her parents, Arthur and Dena West Harrell; two brothers and two sisters, William Farrow Harrell and Henry Harrell and Martha Jane Dunn and Laverne Cole.
Edd Dudley, Jr.
1952-2003
LINDEN, VIRGINIA: Services for Edd Dudley, Jr., 51, were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27 at Trinity Funeral Home in Paris.
Mr. Dudley died Saturday, September 20 in an automobile accident in Washington, DC.
He was born January 10, 1952 in McKenzie to Cleo Haynes Dudley and the late Edd Dudley, Sr. He graduated from McKenzie High School in 1969 and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1970. There he became a mortar man. He received an honorable discharge in 1972. Edd was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
In 1973 he moved to Washington DC where he met and married
his wife, Wilhelmina Diane Loving Dudley in 1974.
Other survivors include three children, Tiffoni and Emerson Dudley and Janin Barbour; his siblings, Joyce Cooper (Lloyd), Jane Hampton, Dennis Dudley (Anita), Dorethea Royal (Tony), Reo Pruiett, George Dudley, Jewell Dudley, Kathy Belton (Jon) and Eric Dudley, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Viewings were held on Thursday, September 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Alexander S. Pope Funeral Home in Forestville, Maryland.
Joyce Matlock

PARIS - Services for Joyce Collier Matlock were held on Monday, October 6 at the Community of Christ Church on Lone Oak Road with her nephew, Rev. Mark Elkins of Jenson Baptist Church at Pineville, Kentucky and her brother, Dr. Gary S. Collier of Paris officiating. Burial was in the Walker cemetery.
Mrs. Matlock, 58, died on Friday afternoon, October 3 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after a battle with cancer. She was married
on January 12, 1964 to Don Matlock, who survives.
She was born February 13, 1945 in Henry County, a daughter of Samuel O. and Madeline Lemonds Collier of Paris. Survivors also include two sons, David (Kris) Matlock and Jeffrey Matlock, both of Paris; four sisters, Janice (Ronnie) Wimberley and Chris (Joe) Andrews, both of Paris, Carol Collier and special friend Gene Owen of McKenzie and Giggie Collier of Carrolton, Georgia; her mother-in-law Lavinia (Duward) Snyder of Paris; a sister-in-law, Kathy Collier of Paris; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Montcell) Matlock of McKenzie; one cousin Glynn (Jane) Collier of Nashville; three grandchildren, David "Mat" Matlock Jr. and Lee and Nate Matlock and several nieces and nephews.
Chosen as pallbearers were Joe and Sam Andrews, Sean and Scott Matlock, Jim Collier, Gene Owen, Lynn Hayes and Issac Conger. Named as honorary pallbearers were employees of Commercial Bank, members of the Paris Chapter of Business Professional Women, where she had been its current president and members of the 1963 Grove High School Class where Mrs. Matlock graduated.
Arrangements were handled by McEvoy Funeral Home and Brummitt Funeral Home.
Gracie Lee Buckley

CEDAR GROVE - Services for Gracie Lee Buckley, 78, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22 at Seats Chapel Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Buckley, widow of Andie Lee Buckley, died Thursday, September 19, at Methodist Healthcare of Lexington.
Survivors include four daughters, Margaret Browning of Cedar Grove, Ilean Weathers of Huntingdon, and Evelyn Parker and Marcella Henry, both of Lexington; two sons, Wayne Buckley and James Buckley, both of Cedar Grove; two sisters, Verda Mae Williams of Cedar Grove and Irene Johnson of Benton Harbor, Michigan; and three brothers, Leon Seats and Lue Seats, both of Cedar Grove and Floyd Seats of Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Stephenson-Shaw Funeral Home of Lexington was in charge of the arrangements.
