HUNTINGDON - Billy J. Autry, 54, died on Monday, April 28 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press-time. For more information, call Dilday Funeral Home at 986-8281.

Lisa Marie Stewart Matthews
Lisa Marie Stewart Matthews, 27, of John's Island, South Carolina, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in John's Island. Memorial services for Mrs. Matthews were held Saturday, April 26, 2003.
Mrs. Matthews was an Office Manager for Bees Ferry Veterinary Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. She was also working on an Associate Degree in Horticulture and was a member of the S.C. Native Plants Society. Mrs. Matthews was born July 24, 1975 in Martin. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Presley Stewart.
Mrs. Matthews is survived by her husband, Terrance "Terry" Patrick Matthews; her mother and stepfather, Mary T. Coker and Charlie; two brothers, Gary Stewart and Kenneth Coker; and a sister, Rana Stewart.
The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Carroll County Humane Society, P.O. Box 384, McKenzie, TN 38201.

Susie Elizabeth Parham
1915-2003
CEDAR GROVE - Mrs. Susie Elizabeth Parham, 87, died on Thursday, May 29 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Leach Seventh Day Adventist Church with Brother Ray Kelly officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Parham was born August 15, 1915 in Wildersville to the late Crawford and Bertha Kelly Ledsinger. She was the administrator for the Carroll County Nursing Home and a member of the Leach Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Parham, who passed away on February 6, 1976; two sisters, Mildred Dunn and Opal Fry and one grandson.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Watson of Huntingdon; five sons, Billy Parham and David Parham, both of Huntingdon, Jackie Parham of Cedar Grove, Jimmy Parham of Bartlett and Ronnie Parham of Hickory Hill, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 14-step-great-granchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

John Walter Foreman
1918-2003
BRUCETON - Services for John Walter Foreman, 84, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31 at the Bruceton Funeral Home with the Rev. James Daniel officiating. Burial was in the Prospect cemetery.
Mr. Foreman, a retired truck driver for Detroit Edison in Detroit Michigan died on Friday, May 30 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton.
He was born August 15, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Thomas John Foreman and Telophia Stella Marcz Foreman. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Higdon Foreman; one daughter, Patsy Crockett of Huntingdon; a sister, Helen Allen of St. Petersburg, Florida and two grandchildren.

Clara Smothers King
1934-2003
BRUCETON - Services for Clara Smothers King, 68, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 30 at Bruceton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in the Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie.
Mrs. King, a retired dietician for Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, died on Wednesday, May 28 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
She was born October 15, 1934 in Westport to the late Delmar Ras Smothers and Alma Odell Clark Smothers. She was a member of the Bruceton First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Adah Chapter #314 and The Carroll County Republican Executive Committee.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Murrell King; a daughter, Elissa Wiliams of Burns; two sons, Mike C. King of Hendersonville and Mark F. King of Bruceton; a brother, Lyndel E. Smothers of Bruceton and five grandchildren. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Sherrill C. Smothers.

Nathaniel McKinney Watson
1914-2003
HUNTINGDON - Services for Nathaniel McKinney Watson, 88, were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 30 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Wake services were on Thursday, May 29.
Survivors included his wife, Nellie Dean Thomas; a daughter, Alberta Brown of Richton Park, Illinois; two sisters, Elizabeth Crosby of Cleveland, Ohio and Rosie Lee Bursey of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; and two brothers, Charles Watson, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio and John Henry Watson of Carson, California.
Bond Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Herman L. Hopper
1916-2003
McKENZIE - Mr. Herman L. Hopper, 87, died Saturday evening, October 18 at McKenzie Healthcare Center following a short illness. He will be buried in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
He was born June 7, 1916 in Tyler, Missouri. He served the United States Coast Guard from 1941-1945. He retired from the City of Detroit after 30 years of service with the DSR Transit Service. He was a Mason and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Paris.
He and his family moved from St. Clair Shores, Michigan to McKenzie in 1971. He ran the gas station on the corner of Highland and Cedar for a few years where Shell Pockets is now located. It began as Hopper's Gulf and later became Hopper's Texaco.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Roberts Hopper, three brothers, Raymond Hopper, Jewel Hopper and Gray Hopper and one sister, Dixie Hopper.
Survivors include two sons, James C. Hopper of McKenzie and John L. Hopper of New Baltimore, Michigan; one daughter, Jackie M. Hasselbrink of McKenzie; four grandchildren, Rhiannon Hasselbrink of Martin, Jesse Hasselbrink of Murray, Kentucky and John and Brandon Hopper of Michigan and a great-granddaughter, Sierra Tabada Hasselbrink of Huntingdon.

Jessie B. Bailey
1938-2003
GLEASON - Services for Jessie B. Bailey, 65, were on Tuesday, October 21 at 10:30 a.m. in the Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Bob Copeland officiating. Interment icon followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bailey, retired from Gleason Brick Company, died on Saturday, October 18 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born August 17, 1938 in Gleason to the late Thelma Pritchard Bailey and Bennie Bailey.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Reed Bailey; three sons, Charles McAbee, Ricky McAbee and Allan McAbee, all of Gleason; three daughters, Rhonda Tabers of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Chriss Shrum and Wanda Hudson, both of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; two brothers, Rupert Bailey of Dresden and James G. Bailey of Trezevant; three sisters, Shirley Clanfarani of Gleason, Marie Penick of Henry and Mildred Bailey of Florida; and 14 grandchildren.

David R. Stout
1957-2003
MARTIN - Services for David R. Stout, 46, were held at Murphy Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15 with Rev. Mace Jett officiating. Interment icon followed at the East Side cemetery.
Mr. Stout, retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service, a student at UTM and a medical field employee, died on Monday, October 13 at the Volunteer Community Hospital.
He was born in Trezevant on February 19, 1957 to Bill J. Stout and Peggy Cunningham Stout of Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Felicia Rudzek Stout; two daughters, Tera Garner and Nicole Stout, both of Martin, his parents, a brother, Billy G. Stout of Martin, his maternal grandmother, Adell Cunningham of McKenzie and one grandson.

Maurice Ethridge 'Radio' Flowers
1918-2003
HOLLOW ROCK - Mr. Maurice Ethridge 'Radio' Flowers, 85, died on Sunday, October 12, at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, October 14 at Faith Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Davis and Bro. Scotty Davis officiating. Interment icon followed in the New Prospect cemetery.
Mr. Flowers was born June 9, 1918 in Dollar to the late Ed and Sally Hollowell Flowers. He was a retired locomotive engineer for the CSX Railroad Company and a member of the Faith Baptist Church. His wife, Jewell Bennett Flowers preceded him in death on July 28, 1994.
Survivors included several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Willie Wray Smith
1924-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Willie Wray Smith, 79, were on Sunday, October 19 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Rev. Harrell Nation officiating. Interment icon followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Smith, retired from Bethel College, died on Wednesday, October 15 in McKenzie. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the United States Army Air Corps. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was born on March 3, 1924 to the late Ruby Lorene Smith and Grover Swain Smith in Carroll County. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Brawner Smith.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Opal Sasser of McKenzie.

Esther L. Putman
1917-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Esther L. Putman, 86, were on Saturday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in McKenzie with Bro. Dennis Trull and Rev. Harrell Nation officiating. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Putman, a homemaker, died on Thursday, October 16 at McKenzie Health Care Center in McKenzie.
She was born September 3, 1917 in Myrtle, Mississippi, to the late Johnnie Bessie Haynes Lawrence and John Wesley Lawrence. Also preceding her in death were her husband, John Robert Putman; one daughter, Shirley Ann Putman; one son, John Putman, Jr.; three brothers, Paul Lawrence, Richard Lawrence and Joe Lawrence and two sisters, Thelma Kitchens and Grace Lawrence.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty P. Highfil of McKenzie; four sons, Les Putman, Robert L. Putman, Jimmy Putman and William T. Putman, all of McKenzie; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie.

Donald E. Cooter
1940-2003
PARIS - Donald Edward Cooter, 63, died Monday, October 13 at Camden General Hospital. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15 at McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris with Jeff Hemingway of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Burial followed in the Middle Tennessee Veterans cemetery in Nashville.
Mr. Cooter was born September 13, 1940 in Kingsport to the late William A. and Sue Keller Cooter. He was an employee with the McKenzie Post Office for 12 years and served 20 years with the United States Army, retiring as sergeant first class. He served six years in Vietnam, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Schultz Cooter; a daughter, Shellie Sue Benoit of Lake Charles, Louisiana; a son, Donald Edward Cooter, Jr, of Paris; three sisters, Midge Lemoine of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Barbara Vest of Ragley, Louisiana and Joan Ponvelle of Labadieville, Louisiana; one brother, Billy Cooter of Labadieville, Louisiana and one grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church building fund or the American Heart Association.
