Tunelle Adcox Nicks

Funeral services for Mrs. Tunelle Adcox Nicks, 86, are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 from Walnut Street Church of Christ in Dickson with Bro. Clarence DeLoach and Bro. Steve Baggett officiating. Interment icon will follow in Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Taylor Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nicks, a native of Dickson County and a retired real estate broker and co-founder of the former Bob Nicks Realty Company, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at National Health Care Center in Dickson. She was a longtime member of Walnut Street Church of Christ.

She served as a director of the Tennessee Board of the American Cancer Society. She was a graduate of Dickson County High School and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. She was a co-founder of the American Cancer Society Auction for the Dickson County Unit. She was one of the first real estate brokers in Dickson County, holding her GRI and broker license.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Robert L. Nicks of Dickson; daughter, Martha Nicks Fassino and her husband, J.C. of Cypress, Texas; and three grandchildren, Steven Nicks Fassino, Berton R. Fassino and Ryan H. Fassino.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Henderson Nicks; five sisters; one brother; and parents, W.H. and Jenny Street Adcox.

Memorials may be made to the Walnut Street Church of Christ building fund or American Cancer Society.

Katherine Field Avriett

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Field Avriett, 88, are 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 from the chapel of Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Roy West officiating. Interment icon will follow in Union cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from noon-2 p.m.

Mrs. Avriett of Dickson was born on March 3, 1916. She died on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 at NHC Health Care in Dickson. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Diane Avriett of Chattanooga and David and Patty Avriett of Knoxville; grandchildren, Rob Avriett and Sheli Baker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Avriett.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Dickson, Lutheran School of Chattanooga or Blount Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Eddie Mae Redden

Funeral services for Mrs. Eddie Mae Redden, 76, were 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville with Bill McDonald officiating. Interment icon followed in Redden cemetery in Dickson.

Mrs. Redden of Nunnelly was born in Hickman County on Nov. 2, 1928. She died on Nov. 22, 2004 at her residence. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, James Marble Redden of Nunnelly; brother, Glenn Petty of Warren, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Petty and Myrtle Wilson Petty.

Thomas Lynn Hearn

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Lynn “Tommy” Hearn, 53, are 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 from Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Chaplain Bill Herren officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services.

Mr. Hearn died on Nov. 20, 2004. He was a longtime State Farm insurance agent in the Bellevue area, an Eagle Scout, assistant Scoutmaster from 1990-1995 and Explorer Post advisor from 1995-1998.

Survivors include his wife, Debby Hearn; son, Lynn Hearn; parents, Ruth and Martin M. Coleman; brother, Barry Hearn and wife, Beth; nephew, Tommy and his wife, Carri; two great-nephews, Noah and Blaise; and a great-niece, Lexi.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Barry Hearn.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to: Boy Scouts of America Troop #130, Attn.: Don and Pat Wills, 102 Collinwood Close, Franklin, TN 37069 or to the American Cancer Society.

Lizzie Bruce Horner

Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Bruce Horner, 91, were 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 in the chapel of Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Roy West officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson County Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Horner of Dickson was born in Dickson County on April 11, 1913. She died on Nov. 20, 2004 at NHC in Dickson. She was a retired machine operator for Red Kap Mfg. Co. with 47 years of service. She was a member of Dickson First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Reba Brown and husband, Robert of Nashville; four grandchildren, Mike Mitchell and wife, Kathy of Nashville, Patty Bryant and husband, Michael of Athens, Tenn., Charlie Mitchell and wife, Gina of Smyrna and John Mitchell and wife, Leeanne of Smyrna; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Wilbur Flaud Marsh

Funeral services for Mr. Wilbur Flaud Marsh, 83, were 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. Warren Medley officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson Union cemetery.

Mr. Marsh, a retired counselor for disabled with the Tennessee Department of Education, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004 at Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a part of the invasion of Normandy. He was a member of VFW and a former Post Commander. He was a member of Charlotte Fagan United Methodist Church. He received a B. S. degree in education from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville. He also attended Peabody.

Survivors include his nephew, Ward Marsh of Charlotte; three nieces, Gayle Fisher of Murfreesboro, Irma Grimsley of Murfreesboro and Rachel Donagen of Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. and Irma Taylor Marsh; and brothers, Ward Taylor Marsh and Charles Marsh.

Ailene Wall Ragan

Funeral services for Mrs. Ailene Wall Ragan, 78, of Cumberland Furnace were 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Brooks and Rev. Noreen Adams officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson Union cemetery.

Mrs. Ragan died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at National Health Care Center in Dickson. She was a native of Cumberland Furnace. She was the daughter of the late Horace Grigsby “H.G.” Wall and Lizzie Ferrell Wall. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, William Earl “Bill” Ragan of Cumberland Furnace; son, Steve Ragan of Burns; daughter, Pam Briggs of Clarksville; four granddaughters, Margaret Shelton, Cynthia Martin, Emily Briggs and Grace Briggs; two great-grandchildren, William and Ashley; and a nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Dickson County Public Library or UT Montgomery County Extension Endowment.

Robert Matthew Stinson

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Matthew Stinson, 71, were 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Whitfield and Rev. Howard Coles officiating. Interment icon followed in Missionary Ridge cemetery.

Mr. Stinson, a farmer and sheet metal worker, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at his home in Bon Aqua. He was a member of Local 177 in Nashville. He was a member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Edna Helpin Stinson of Bon Aqua; son, Robert Mark Stinson and his wife, Terrie Sue of Columbia; daughter, Donna Stinson Tapper and her husband, Fred of Culleoka; brother, Arlis Stinson of McCullom, Mich.; sister, Christine Bryce of Dickson; five grandchildren, Courtney, Kristin, Jacqueline, Matthew and Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William German and Maude Muller Dudley Stinson.

Kerry Hilton Underwood

Funeral services for Mr. Kerry Hilton Underwood, 45, were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 at Nave Funeral Home in Erin with Bro. Chad Carson and Bro. Terry Rigsby officiating. Interment icon followed in Cedar Hill cemetery in Erin.

Pallbearers were Danny Keith, Art Keith, Jimmy Clark, Jimmy Bass, Kim Clark, Tracy Lewis, Jerry Bucciarelli, Tom McWhorter and Kip Clark.

Mr. Underwood was born in Erin on Oct. 21, 1959. He died on Nov. 19, 2004 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Hwy. 48/13 in Montgomery County.

He was an industrial mechanic and a member of Clarksville Church of God. He is the son of Norman Cletus Underwood of Erin and the late Dorothy Jean Clark.

Survivors include his stepsons, Lucas Allman of Houston, Texas, and Micah Allman of Dickson; father, Norman Underwood; and brother, Kevin Underwood of Clarksville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Kerry Underwood and Dorothy Jean Clark.

Melvin Eugene Vaughn

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Eugene Vaughn, 72, are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Shouse officiating. Interment icon followed in Jackson Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Vaughn of Charlotte was born in Davidson County on May 19, 1932. He died on Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

Survivors include his sons, Thomas Eugene Vaughn and wife, Darlene of Charlotte, Leon Vaughn and wife, Debbie and Greg Vaughn and wife, Martha, all of Dickson and Bobby Vaughn and wife, Lavergne of Lyles; daughter, Pam Young and husband, Chuck of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren; and special friend, Juanita Medders.

He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Tipton Vaughn; and parents, James Thomas and Nellie Mai Shadowens Vaughn.

James Hubert Vester

Graveside services for Mr. James Hubert Vester, 90, are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 in Corning, Ark., at Corning cemetery with Kippy Woods officiating. His remains are in the care of Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Ark. Local arrangements were handled by Dickson Funeral Home.

Mr. Vester of Dickson was born in Supply, Ark., on Aug. 19, 1914. He died on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Freda Vester of Dickson; son, James E. Vester of St. Louis; daughter, Veleta Pringle of Dickson; stepsons, Dr. George Foster of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Bill Foster of Washington; and stepdaughter, Kay Tapio of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Weaver Vester; two brothers; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pomona Church of Christ.
