Robert Odell Britt
Mr. Robert Odell Britt, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center. Arrangements were handled by Dickson Funeral Home.
Mr. Britt of Dickson was born in Carroll County May 23, 1928. He was a retired truck driver and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Britt of Dickson; son, Steven Britt and wife, Tammy of Columbia; brother, Leo Britt of Huntingdon; sister, Rachel Pickett of Huntingdon; and four grandchildren.
Vonda “Grace” Galyon
Vonda “Grace” Galyon, 73, of Dickson, formerly of Crossville, passed away Aug. 3, 2004. She was born May 18, 1931 in Pickett, Tenn., to Charlie and Ada Smith Gunter. She was a homemaker and a member of Linary Church of Christ. She enjoyed doll collecting, ceramics and yard sales.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mick and Kelly Galyon of Nashville, Marty and Tina Galyon of Crossville and Marc and Kelly Galyon of Dickson; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Rodney Ray of Dickson; sister, Charlene Gunter; grandchildren, Michael Jr. and wife, Tabitha Galyon, Diedre Seay, Jesse Galyon, Cody Galyon, Jessica Burgess, Amber, Ashley and Austin Galyon; and great-grandchildren, Harlee Galyon, Ally Galyon, Eithan Galyon, Hogan Galyon, Jesse Galyon Jr. and Zach Seay.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Galyon; brothers, Keith Gunter and James Gunter; and grandson, Jeremy Ray.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 6, 2004 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Bro. David Peeler and Bro. Phil Jenkins officiated. The Church of Christ Singers provided special music. Burial followed in Linary cemetery. Hood Funeral and Crematory handled arrangements.
Ruby Mai Gambrell
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Mai Gambrell, 64, were 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004 at Dickson Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Cunningham officiating. Interment

Mrs. Gambrell of Nashville was born in Dickson County Nov. 5, 1939. She died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dalewood United Methodist Church in Nashville where she served as a member of the church choir.
Survivors include her brother, James William Cunningham and wife, Judy F., of Nashville; sister, Mildred Belle Craig of Nashville; nieces, Sheri L. Barker, Ladonna Crenshaw and Julie Demartini; and nephew, James Robert Cunningham.
Dorothy Mae Hollobaugh
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Hollobaugh, 80, are 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004 from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. Paul Darety officiating. Interment
will follow in Williams addition of Union cemetery.
Mrs. Hollobaugh, a homemaker, was born in Fairview, W. Va. She died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. She was a member of Pomona Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Kerns of Burns and Nancy Cain of Nashville; brother, Ross C. Toothman of Knoxville; and three grandchildren, Kelly Duran, Noah Cain and Stella Cain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Hollobaugh; and her parents, James and Opal Parker Toothman.
William Anderson Potts
Funeral services for Mr. William A. Potts, 82, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy West and Rev. Phil Ross officiating. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 10 a.m.-noon. Interment
will follow in the Fuson addition of the Dickson Union cemetery. Services are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home.
Mr. Potts of Dickson was the founder and former owner and operator of WDKN Radio in Dickson. He died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at Centennial Medical Center.
A native of Centerville, he was the son of the late Perry and Annie Mae Jackson Potts. Potts was involved in establishing WDKN in 1955 and was responsible for the beginning of Old Timers Day in May, the American Cancer Society Auction in April, The Friendly Neighbor Program, Swap and Shop and numerous other radio programs.
Potts was a past president of the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Dickson, where he served on several committees, including chairman of the Staff Parish Relations Committee and chairman of the Board of Trustees. Potts was a Mason, Shriner and member of the Dickson Evening Rotary Club where he had 30 years perfect attendance and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He also served as president of the club.
He served in the U.S. Air Corps in 1938 as a fighter pilot and flew P-38 Lightnings and P-61 Black Widows.
He married
the former Mable Lorene Ray in 1948.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lorene Ray (Lo) Potts of Dickson, daughters, Ann Potts Sechser and her husband, Don of Franklin and Carol Potts Sensing and her husband, Barry of Franklin; grandchildren, Martha Tidwell, Will Tidwell, John Sensing, Ann Sensing and Lindsay Sechser.
Memorials may be made to Dickson Evening Rotary Club projects or First United Methodist Church.
Lula Marie Peeler Wright

Mrs. Wright, 80, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004 in National Health Care in Dickson. A native of Dickson County, she was the daughter of the late Winfrey Washington and Maude Marie Vineyard Peeler. She was a member of Tennessee City United Methodist Church.
She was a retired teller at the Bank of Dickson.
Survivors include two half-brothers, Shannon Peeler and Billy Hugh Peeler; a half-sister, Barbara Cassell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Wright; and son, Nicky Charles Wright.
Memorials may be made to the Dickson County Library, American Cancer Society or Tennessee City United Methodist Church.
Robert Neil Brown
Mr. Robert Neil Brown, 70, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center. His remains were cremated.
Mr. Brown, a retired car salesman, was born July 16, 1934 in Waverly.
Survivors include his daughters, Missy Lockhart of Nashville and Becky Brown of Bon Aqua; sisters, Patsy Berry and Janice Crowell, both of Waverly; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Brown and Annis Crowell.
William Hegelund Sr.
Mr. William O. Hegelund Sr., 89, died at his home in Dickson Tuesday, July 27, 2004.
Mr. Hegelund, a longtime Dickson resident, was born March 3, 1915 in Detroit, Mich. He was a retired letter carrier for the city of Detroit. He was a World War II veteran and a life member of the VFW. He was also a past commander of the military order of the Cooties.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie.
Survivors include his children, Judy Shepard of Clinton, N.C., Robert Hegelund of Clinton Township, Mich., William Hegelund Jr. of Clinton Township, Mich., and Norman Hegelund of Harristown Township, Mich.
In lieu of a funeral and in regard to his wishes, his remains were donated to the Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville.

Jesse Wade Holman

Holman of Charlotte died Friday, July 30, 2004 at Vanderbilt Hospital.
Survivors include his father and stepmother; Barry Wade and Belinda Holman of Charlotte; mother and stepfather, Lori and Charles Willey of Old Hickory; grandparents, Randall and Judy Holman of Bon Aqua; stepgrandparents, C.N. and Jettie Willey of Hermitage and Emerson and Ophelia Johnston of Lascassas; sisters Megan Holman and Emily Holman, both of Charlotte; stepbrothers, James Sensing and Josh Sweeney, both of Charlotte; stepsisters, Desiree Willey, Tristan Willey, Erica Willey and Sheree Willey, all of Nashville; niece, Gracie Walling; nephews, Austin Holman, Bobo Robinson, Gage Robinson and Jonathan Lucio.
Holman was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nancy Holman and Jessie and Judy McFall.
James Alton Lane

Mr. Lane, a native of Davidson County, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004 at his home. He was a former grocery salesman and deputy with the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Brian Keith Lane of Deltona, Fla., and Jeffery “Jeff” David Lane of Geneva, Fla.; brothers, Thomas “Tommy” Lane and Harden Lane, both of Dickson; sister, Patricia “Patty” Patterson of Dickson; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harden W. Lane Sr. and Dorothy Alice Ruggles Lane.

Minnie Lou Moore

Mrs. Moore of Fairview died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at NHC in Dickson. She was born Nov. 27, 1914 in Brazil, Tenn. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Tommie Lou (Bill) Collins of Fairview; sister, Madge Hudson of Memphis; grandson, Gareth Collins; and great-grandchildren, Connor and Isabella Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Susie Bell Culwell; husband, Tommy Moore; and daughter, Sue Crowson.
Carl Brown Street
