Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Appleton Carson, 95, were 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at the Chapel at Granny White Church of Christ, 3805 Granny White Pike, Nashville, Tenn., with Dr. Dennis Loyd officiating. Interment
followed at Woodlawn cemetery. Family members served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Carson died on Feb. 4, 2004 at NHC in Dickson, Tenn.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Rick Costa of Dickson.; daughter, Mary Jean Carson of Nashville; step-granddaughters, Barbara and husband, Paul Long and Christy and husband, Jim Williamson; brothers, Roy Russell Appleton and Smith Appleton.
Memorial contributions may be made to African Christian Schools or Youth Encouragement Services.
Hazel Cooksey
Graveside services for Mrs. Hazel Joyce Cooksey, 68, of Commerce, Ga., are 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 at the Cooksey Family cemetery in the Yellow Creek community with Rev. Roy West officiating. Burial follows the service. Services are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cooksey died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 in Commerce Ga. She was a teacher and a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Cooksey of Commerce, Ga., and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and cousins.
Margaret Johnson
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Richardson Johnson, 87, are 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Horace Perkins officiating. Burial follows in Richardson cemetery in Burns.
Mrs. Johnson, a nurses’ aide at the former Goodlark Medical Center, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was a member of Burns United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Anne and John Tarpley of Nashville; a sister, Kathrine Gordon of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandsons, James Hebron (Noemie Parrat) Tarpley, John Vandevort (Kate Edgerton) Tarpley and Leeman Richardson Tarpley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Moses Johnson; her parents, Alfred Turner Richardson and Hattie Vandevort Richardson; a sister, Rubye Richardson Phillips; and a brother, James Edward Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burns United Methodist Church.
Johnny Starr
A gathering to celebrate the life and music of Mr. Johnny Starr will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at the Pizza Pub and Picking in Bon Aqua. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tenn. is charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Starr, 66, of Bon Aqua, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at home.
Born in Buckhorn, Pa., he was the son of the late Mathias Knorr and Della Walters and husband of Faith Starr, whom he shared his life and love of music with. He was a contract painter and an entertainer, writing and playing songs with the late Johnny Cash.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Samuel Delius, of Delaware, and Carl Knorr, of Marion, Ill.; four stepchildren; six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and several brothers and sisters in Pennsylvania.
Talmage Crowell
Funeral services for Mr. Talmage “Sonny” Crowell, 70, were 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson.
Mr. Crowell, a native of Holcomb, Mo., died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was a self-employed owner of Sonny’s Fireworks Convenience Store. He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church. He was a former pastor for East St. Louis Church.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Crowell of Dickson; three sons, Randy Crowell of Dickson, Michael Crowell of Nunnelly and Michael Hettstatt of Dickson; four daughters, Kathy Crowell and Linda Hettstatt, both of Dickson and Debbie and Denise Crowell; four sisters, Shirley Calvert of Wolf Lake, Ill., Charlotte Hartwick of Campbell, Mo., Alberta McGee of Kennett, Mo., and Thelma Dotson of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
James Edward Daniel
Funeral services for Mr. James Edward “Jimmy” Daniel, 61, were 1 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004 from the Waverly Chapel of Luff Bowen Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Lynch and Bro. Rick Rolin officiating. Cremation followed the funeral service.
Mr. Daniel, a lifelong resident of Waverly, was born June 22, 1942. He died Monday, May 31 at his home. He was retired from Consolidated Aluminum Corporation. He was a member of Wildwood Valley Church of Christ at Hurricane Mills. He was an avid University of Tennessee fan and sidewalk alumni of UT. He was the son of the late Nelson A. Daniel and May Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Baggett Daniel of Waverly; sons, Michael “J.R.” Daniel of Waverly, Mark Daniel and wife, Tammy, of Burns, and Morgan Daniel and wife, Crystal, of Cannon, Ky.; daughter, Melanie Jones of Waverly; sisters, Mildred Richie of Florida, Martha Hughey and husband, Joe, of Waverly and Nancy Pyron of Waverly; seven grandchildren, Jon Ross Daniel, Marcus Daniel, Cole Daniel, Victoria Daniel, Daniel Jones, Haley Jones and Mariah Daniel.

Colleen Lawson Frazier
Cryptside services for Mrs. Colleen Lawson Frazier, 70, are 11 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004 with Bro. Warren Medley officiating. Entombment will be in Dickson Union cemetery Mausoleum. Services are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frazier, a homemaker and former employee of South Central Bell Telephone Company, died Monday, May 31 at her home. She attended the University of Tennessee. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are her son, Richard Joseph Frazier and his wife, Gabriella Stephan Frazier, of San Anselmo, Calif.; brother, Joe Bryan Lawson of Hendersonville; two grandchildren, Katya Morgan Frazier and Camille Meagan Frazier; niece, Angie Smith Kimble of Hendersonville; and nephew, Richard Bryan Lawson of Hendersonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Morgan Frazier; and parents, Collie Bryan and Ollie Mae Duncan Lawson.
Memorials may be made to the Tennessee Lung Association and American Heart Association.
Edward Clay Ladd
Funeral services for Mr. Edward Clay Ladd, 73, were 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. Steve Baggett and Bro. Dan Erranton officiating. Interment
followed in Dickson Union cemetery.
Mr. Ladd, a surveyor with the state of Tennessee for 38 years, died Tuesday, June 1 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was in the National Guard and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his sister, Edith Jane Craft of Dickson; nephew, Edwin Craft; a great-nephew and a great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Thomas Ladd; and parents, Roy and Sue Larkins Ladd.
Ruby Lossilee Steele Sullivan
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Lossilee Steele Sullivan, 82, are 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004 at Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Warren Medley officiating. Interment

Mrs. Sullivan of Dickson was born in Hickman County March 20, 1922. She died Wednesday, June 2 at National Health Care Center in Dickson. She was a retired machine operator for Henry I. Siegel Company.
Survivors include her husband, William C. “Bill” Sullivan of Dickson; sons, Ronnie D. Sullivan of Dickson and Mick Sullivan and wife, Lisa, of Strawberry Plains and Randy Sullivan and wife, Glenda, of Dickson; sister, Novice U. Petty of Dickson; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Floy Bowen Steele.
Elizabeth Gertrude Woods

Mrs. Woods, a lifelong resident of Waverly, was born January 19, 1934. She died Saturday, May 29 at Waverly Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church in Waverly. She is the daughter of the late William Edward “Will” Mosley and Mamie Myrtle Thomas.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald Woods and wife Belinda, of Waverly, Ricky Woods and wife, Sandra, of Dickson, Gary Woods and wife, Ginger, of Erin, and Randy Woods and wife, Tammy, of Waverly; brothers, John D. Mosley and Claude Mosley, both of Waverly; sisters, Annie Mae Baker and Jewel Hicks, both of Waverly; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gene Woods.
Martin Borah

with military honors will follow in Middle Tennessee Veterans cemetery in Pegram.
Mr. Borah, a native of Omaha, Neb., was the son of the late Ellsworth and Gladys Shear Borah. He died Monday, May 31, 2004 at St. Thomas Hospital. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Cuban Crisis. He was retired from printing management with Quebecor Printing in Dickson. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Giles Borah of Dickson; daughters and sons-in-law, Karalee and Randall Styer of Downingtown, Pa., and Suzanne and Jason Shiflet of Dickson; four grandchildren, Stephanie Styer, Steven Styer, Aaron Shiflet and Evan Shiflet.
Memorials may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Tennessee chapter.
Aubrey Carr

Mr. Carr of Burns served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He died May 26, 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia H. Carr of Burns; daughter, Kathy (Levon) Little of Burns; son, Glenn R. Carr of Burns; brother, Majel Carr of Lyles; grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson and Shaun R. Carr; and several nieces and nephews.
Gladys Elease Cathey

Mrs. Cathey, a native of Dickson, was the daughter of Melvin P. and Annie Lampley Fisher. She died May 30, 2004 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert “Cap” Cathey. Mrs. Cathey previously worked as a machine operator for the former Schrader Automotive Parts in Dickson. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger “Chubby” and Jo Ann Cathey and William “Bubba” and Brenda Cathey, all of Dickson and Larry “Coon” and Joyce Cathey of Fairview; daughter, Carolyn Cathey of Cookeville; sisters, Jane Crawford of San Marcos, Texas, and Mae Williams of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchildren, Roger Dale Cathey Jr., Melissa Marie Cathey, Ann Marie Cathey, Brad Allen Cathey, Andrea Michelle Cathey and William Scott Cathey; and one great-grandchild, Grace Caroline Cathey.
