Halden J. Larsen
Died: May 10, 2002

Halden Joseph Larsen, son of Ralph W. and Matilda (Kapaun) Larsen, was born August 14,
1924 at Humboldt, SD. He grew up and was educated there. They moved to Sioux Falls in
1939, and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1943.
In February 1944, Hal entered the US Navy where he served our country during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in April 1946. He worked as a salesman for Sioux Falls Paint and Glass for 29 years.
Hal was united in marriage with Donna M. Schlueter on August 24, 1950 at Sioux Falls, SD.
They were one of the first 50 families in the Hilltop area. In 1979, they purchased “The Keg” which he owned and operated until 1994 when he sold the business to his son, Neil Larsen. Hal loved to spend time with his family and his friends at the Keg. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting and golfing.
He was a charter member of St. Lambert’s Catholic Church, and a member of the John M. Bliss VFW Post# 628.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Donna Larsen, Sioux Falls, SD; one daughter,
Nancy Funke and her husband, Butch, Brandon, SD; four sons, Grant Larsen and his wife,
Lynn, Sioux Falls, SD, Alan Larsen and his special friend, Melodie Szakats, Sioux Falls, SD, Neil Larsen and his wife, Vonnie, Sioux Falls, SD, Chester Larsen and his wife, Nancy, Salem, SD; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; one sister, Lavonne Iverson and her husband, Norman, Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, Jack Larsen and his wife, Joann, Las Vegas, NV, Bill Larsen and his wife, Nancy, Aberdeen, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents.

Ruby R. Schmidt
Died: May 08, 2002

Ruby Ramona Hay, daughter of John H. and Mary E. (Colburn) Hay, was born April 8, 1925 on a farm in Moody County, SD, near Flandreau. She grew up and received her education in Flandreau, SD.
Ruby was united in marriage with Rudolph W. Schmidt in Mitchell, SD on May 31, 1962. She worked as an operator for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company before retiring in 1977 after 17 years of service.
Grateful for having shared her life are her sister, Roberta Przymus and her husband, Francis, Sioux Falls, SD; a stepson, Larry Gene Schmidt, Plymouth, MN; three step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph, on February 5, 1979; her parents; and two sisters, Rachel Newbern and Reva Niemela.

Lena "Toni" M. Waters
Died: Aug 07, 2002

Lena Marie “Toni” Wilde, daughter of Ernest and Ida (Vanderwerf) Wilde, was born January 9, 1921 near St. Cloud, MN.She spent her early years in Monroe and Vilas, SD, moving to Sioux Falls in 1929. Toni received her education in Sioux Falls and was graduated from Washington High School in 1939. On March 8, 1942 she married Lawrence A. Martindale. She worked at various places including several dress shops, Shriver’s, Sioux Falls Book and Stationary, and SoDak Distributing. On May 9, 1958 she was united in marriage with Barrett T. Waters who was a recruiter for the U.S. Marine Corps. The couple moved to Camp Pendleton, CA where they made their home until his retirement in 1959. They then lived at Sylvania, GA for three years where Toni was employed with Southern Bell Telephone. They returned to Sioux Falls in 1962. Toni worked for Minnegasco for over seventeen years retiring in 1981. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls.
Toni’s spare time was spent doing craft work. Over the years she participated in many craft shows, but for the past few years she took her crafts to a local shop specializing in “handmades.” She was called the “Angel Lady” by the shop manager because of her interest and love of making different kinds of angels for sale.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband; two grandchildren, Chris Hadaway, Ames, IA, Keith Hadaway, Cambridge, IA; three great grandchildren, Dustin Lynch, Cheyenne Hadaway, and Seth Hadaway; one brother, Charles D. Wilde, Sioux Falls, SD.
Toni was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Hadaway; her parents; one brother, Ernie Wilde; and one sister, Rose Paul.

Kenneth L. Bossman
Died: Aug 05, 2002

Kenneth Leroy Bossman, son of Harvey and Ethel (Radloff) Bossman, was born September 3, 1939 near Harrisburg, SD. He attended Lincoln Bubolz School and graduated from Harrisburg High School. Ken furthered his education at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion; Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls; National College of Business in Rapid City; and Enterprises for the Blind in Arkansas.
Ken’s professional career included positions with the South Dakota State Highway Department in Pierre and Beresford, SD; Ross Accounting in Mitchell, SD; E.K. William’s Company in Sioux Falls; and the Internal Revenue Service both in Aberdeen, SD from 1972 to 1983 and in St. Paul, MN from 1983 to 1991.
Ken was a member of numerous civic and professional organizations including the South Dakota Association of the Blind; the HUB City Lions Club; the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International; the Elks; the Moose Lodge; and the Eagles. He was a member of Masonic Blue Lodges, Aberdeen Lodge #38 of Aberdeen, SD where he was a life member and a duel membership at St. Paul Lodge #3 of St. Paul, MN, Scottish Rite and York Rite Bodies, Minnesota Chapter #1 of Royal Arch Masons, St. Paul Council #1, Damascus Commandery #1 Knights Templar, Yeldez Shrine in Aberdeen, SD, and Ghora Khan Grotto.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Edwin Bossman and his wife, Rhonda, Rapid City, SD; Kyla Mitcheltree, Inver Grove Heights, MN, Harlan Bossman and his wife, Gina, Rapid City, SD, James Bossman and his wife, Beth, Inver Grove Heights, MN; his father, Harvey Bossman, Tea, SD; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Driscoll, Brandon Rhodes, Tanya Bossman, Justin Rhodes, Richard Mitcheltree, Cody Bossman, William McGaha, Nicholas Bossman, Kaycee Mitcheltree, Reis Bossman, Tatiana Bossman, and Autumn Bossman; one brother, Rev. Loren A. Wiese
Died: Aug 03, 2002

Loren Alvin Wiese, son of Herbert and Leota (Else) Wiese, was born January 23, 1944 at Valley Springs, SD. He grew up there and graduated in 1961 with the last graduating class of Valley Springs High School.
Loren was united in marriage with Judy Den Boer on January 12, 1968 at Rapid City, SD. The couple settled in Sioux Falls, SD where he began working for Cummins Engine Co., Everroad Supply, Holcomb Freightliner and currently Sioux Falls Kenworth. Loren worked until April 16, 2002 when he became unable to continue due to his health.
Loren loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Sam. He enjoyed his work in the trucking industry and the friends he acquired through the years. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and later in life, carpentry, woodworking, and gardening.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Judy Wiese, Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter, Michelle Harkema, Sioux Falls, SD; a granddaughter, Samantha Harkema, Sioux Falls, SD; three brothers, Larry Wiese and his wife, Shar, Rapid City, SD, Lonnie Wiese and his wife, Vicki, Mitchell, SD, Lance Wiese, Sioux Falls, SD; a sister, Linda Danielson and her husband, Michael, Sioux Falls, SD; his mother-in-law, Jennie Den Boer, Rock Valley, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jack R. Cummins
Died: Aug 01, 2002

Jack Roy Cummins, son of Roy and Ruth (Olson) Cummins, was born December 17, 1924 at Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Washington High School. He entered the US Army in 1943 where he served during WW II in India, and was honorably discharged in 1945. He spent 8 ˝ years working in Dallas, TX and then moved to California. He worked for many years as a supervisor for Hughes Helicopter in Culver City, CA and Boeing Aircraft in San Diego and Los Angeles, CA. Jack helped design the templates for the Apache Helicopters. Following his retirement in 1984 he moved back to Sioux Falls.
Jack was a very skilled craftsman in sheet metal work and enjoyed the detail work of cars and model cars. He also enjoyed sports.
Grateful for having shared his life are a sister-in-law, Violet Cummins, Sioux Falls, SD; four nieces, Susan Kiner and her husband, Bob, Sioux Falls, SD, Kathy Johnson and her husband, Don, Cocoa Beach, FL, Denna Cummins, Dallas, TX, Joanne Roschewski, Torrance, CA; five great-nephews; and four great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Orval, Leonard, and Clayton; and two sisters, Mildred Keith and Evelyn Stewart.

Ella Mae Moulton
Died: Jul 30, 2002

Ella Mae Cushie, daughter of Henry H. and Myrtle E. (Culver) Cushie, was born January 17, 1908 at Flandreau, SD. She grew up there and attended Flandreau Public School.
Ella Mae was united in marriage with Benjamin F. Moulton on July 15, 1928 at Egan, SD. They farmed near Elkton, SD from 1928 to 1956. They then moved to Sioux Falls, SD. She worked at McKennan Hospital in the Laundry and Sewing Room for 11 ˝ years before retiring in 1971. Her husband, Benjamin, preceded her in death on February 17, 1973. She continued to live in Sioux Falls and moved to Good Samaritan Center in January of 1999.
She was a member of New Hope Family Church of the Nazarene, and the Center for Active Generations. Ella Mae enjoyed writing letters to her family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Edith Lamp, Sioux Falls, SD; four sons, Donald Moulton and his wife, Vi, Sioux Falls, SD, Richard Moulton and his wife, Helen, Conshohocken, PA, Vern Moulton and his wife, Laura, Sioux Falls, SD, Darrell Moulton and his wife, Judy, Sioux Falls, SD; 21 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; 2 ˝ step-great-great-grandchildren; a special nephew that was raised with the family, Arnold Moulton, Lakeside, AZ; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lucy Belle Smith; one infant brother; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special niece that was raised with the family, Gladys (Moulton) Graham.

Paul Miersma
Died: Jul 29, 2002

Paul Miersma, son of Harry and Margie (Kroon) Miersma, was born July 5, 1912 at Perkins Corner near Hull, Iowa. As a third-grader he moved with his family to Valley Springs, SD.
He was united in marriage with Jennie M. Franken on February 10, 1938 on the farm at Valley Springs. After their marriage the couple farmed north of Valley Springs and then at Beaver Creek, MN for two years. They returned to the Valley Springs area in 1948 where they farmed for nearly 40 years. They retired and moved into town in 1987. Jennie preceded Paul in death on February 11, 2001.
Paul was a lifelong member of Valley Springs Reformed Church.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Margie Baker and her husband, Wayne, Chandler, MN, Janice Vink and her husband, Jim, Luverne, MN, Shirley Kienast and her husband, Wally, Rapid City, SD, Dennis Miersma and his wife, Judy, Valley Springs, SD; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tunis, Harry; and a sister, Henrietta Rubingh.

Charles R. Stoner
Died: Jul 28, 2002

Charles Raymond Stoner, son of George and Almeda (Parker) Stoner, was born May 18, 1908 at Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up on a farm near Crooks, SD. He returned to Sioux Falls in 1928 and began working for John Morrell and Company.
Charles was united in marriage with Lucile L. Gage on April 20, 1937 in Canton, SD. They lived in Sioux Falls and he retired from John Morrell and Company as a truck driver in 1971. Lucile died June 28, 1998.
Charles was united in marriage with Carol Callahan on July 16, 1998 in Sioux Falls, SD.
He was a member of First Methodist Church in Sioux Falls and Harrisburg United Methodist Church. He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge #503, and the Senior Citizen’s Center. Charles loved the outdoors where he enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and watching baseball. He was an avid Minnesota Twins Fan.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Carol Callahan Stoner, Sioux Falls, SD; one daughter, Connie L. Powell and her husband, Merle, Sioux Falls, SD; two daughter-in-laws, Betty and Norma Jean Stoner, both of Sioux Falls, SD; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; three step children, Nancy Begemen, Sioux Falls, SD, Ronald Callahan and his wife, Julie, and their daughter, Audrey, Pipestone, MN, James Callahan and his wife, Diane, Manteca, CA; two brothers, Harold Stoner, Hemet, CA, George Stoner, Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Hazel Hansen, Los Angeles, CA.
In addition to his wife, Charles was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Stoner on December 20, 1983 and Noel R. Stoner on August 16, 1998; two granddaughters, Stacy Stoner and Wendy Powell; two brothers Claude and Arthur Stoner; two sisters, Mae Stone and Helen Engel.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at the Moose Lodge #503 at 1926 W. Burnside Street following the committal service.
