Nathaniel Boyd

Nathaniel Michel Boyd, passed away on October 27, 2014 in Superior, CO. He was born on July 19, 1979 in Aberdeen, SD to Foster and Robin Starr Boyd.
Nate lived in Redfield, SD and moved to Spearfish, SD when he was 7. He graduated from Spearfish High School in 1998. After high school he moved to Colorado.
Nate married his best friend and love Elitsa (Ellie) Paseva in 2003 in Vail, CO. Eventually, they moved to Superior, CO where Nate was successfully self-employed with remodeling houses and later concentrated solely on fine woodworking and custom furniture making. He obtained multiple professional certificates in Fine Woodworking. Nate spent the last few years of his life building unique furniture and teaching fine woodworking at Red Rocks Community College where he made many friends.
His proudest accomplishment came with the birth of his daughter Isabella Starr Boyd in 2009.
Taken from Nate’s website “Nathan Boyd’s Fine Woodworking.”
“I was brought up in Spearfish, SD. I moved to Vail, CO in ’98 where I spent seven years snowboarding and searching for the meaning of life. When I was a kid I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up. I just knew it had to be truly amazing. I discovered my joy of woodworking when I was working in the construction field. With my taste for saw dust never fulfilled in the construction industry I discovered a program in my local area and went to school. I am professionally trained at Red Rocks School of Fine Woodworking. While there I honed my craft and developed my own set of design principles. I like to approach my designs from outside of the box. I don’t think that it is a black and white ideal. I try to let the wood speak with a natural, organic voice. I feel that less is more. Many of my pieces start as an idea in my head, then to my sketch book, and then take on a mind of their own to become what you see. I am just along for the ride.”
He created lasting legacies for decades to come with his hand planed custom furniture.
A perfect ride Nate.
Nate is survived by his wife Elitsa; daughter Isabella; Parents: Foster and Kathy Boyd and Robin and Dale Ter Wee; In laws: Yordan and Rumyanka Pasevi and brother-in-law and wife Daniel and Hristina Pasevi (Martin, Radostin); Siblings: Jeremy and Melissa Boyd (Marissa, Jarrett, Da Vane, Ranni, Nash), Grant and Sarah Boyd (Jacqualyn and Taylor), Whitney and Kris Grondin, Eulala Davies, Cody Davies, Trista and Adam Polley (Julian) and Travis Ter Wee; Grandparent: Marian Starr. Uncles, Aunts and cousins; His beloved dog Boomer, his many Red Rock friends and his best buddies Kyle, Corey and Joe.
He was preceded in death by his Grandpa Daryle Starr and Grandma Marguerite Akin Boyd and Grandpa Ralph Boyd.
A Celebration of Life Service was held in Broomfield, Colorado on November 2, 2014. A Burial Service will be held at Mount Hope cemetery in Frankfort, SD on September 6, 2015 at 2:00 where Nate will be with his beloved Grandpa Daryle Starr. Everyone is invited to attend and share memories of Nate.
