Beverly M. Jones
Beverly M. Jones, age 80 of Wynot, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, September 02, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot with the Rev. Michael Keating officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart cemetery in Wynot.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 1-5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 2:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. There will be a Vigil Service Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the church in Wynot. Visitation will continue at church on Friday one hour prior to services.
Beverly Mae Jones was born on July 19, 1928 in Hartington, NE to Daryl H. and Lucina E. (Wolff) Hochstein. She grew up in the St. Helena and Hartington areas. She attended elementary school at District 13 and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington. Bev, and her sister Eva, moved to Walnut Creek, CA after high school where she worked in a photography shop for one year. Bev moved to Omaha, NE and worked for Mutual of Omaha. Bev married
Daryl Jones on October 4, 1950 in Wynot, NE. She and Daryl would live on the farm where she raised her family of 5 children. They moved into Wynot in 2002.
Bev was a member of Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot and the Christian Mothers. She loved to bake and was awesome in the kitchen. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, crossword puzzles and regular puzzles. Bev loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.
She is survived by her husband Daryl of Wynot; 4 children and their spouses, Vickie Jones of Sioux City, IAN, Roger and Kathy Jones of Bow Valley, NE, Dave and Ann Jones of Norfolk, NE, and Charles Jones of Wynot; daughter-in-law, Sharon Jones of Lincoln, NE; one brother, Daryl and his wife Agnes of St. Helena, NE; 2 sisters, Eva and husband Don Bruening of Omaha, NE, and Alice and Glenn Beyeler of Wynot.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents; one son Ron Jones; one sister Marion and brother-in-law Fritz Bruening; brother-in-law Raynold Promes.
Vernon Olsen
Vernon Elroy Olsen, 66, Watertown, died Jan. 27, 2000, at the family farm near Lake Poinsett.
Memorial services are being planned for a later date. The Geise Funeral Home of Estelline is in charge of the arrangements.
Vernon Olsen was born Jan. 13, 1934, to Oscar and Ellen Olsen. He attended elementary school in Lake Norden.
Survivors include three sisters, Marilyn Reardon, Muriel Monson and Louise Swanson, all of western Washington.
Mary Jean Fors Nelson
Memorial services for Mary Jean Fors Nelson, 58, were held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Wilson, Minn.
Mrs. Nelson died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at her home after a year-long battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 27, 1946, in Watertown to Wallace and Darlene (Finch) Fors. She grew up in the Milbank and Redfield areas. The family moved to Madison during her senior year of high school and she graduated from Madison High School. She attended Dakota State University, graduating in 1968.
She married
Myron Nelson Dec. 16, 1966, in Madison. Following their marriage they moved to Lake Wilson, Minn., where she taught in Lake Wilson and Edgerton, also serving as librarian. She then worked as credit manager for Fey Industry in Edgerton from 1991 until 2001, at which time she retired.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and had served as an officer for WELCA. She was also a member of the Lake Wilson Community Club board, directed community plays for 10 years and served on the Lake Wilson Design Team following the 1992 tornado.
She “enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, movies and plays.”
Survivors include her husband: Myron; two sons and wives: Mark (Shannon) Nelson, Mitchell, and Cory (Amy) Nelson, Yankton; five grandchildren: Mariah, Chandler, Alec, Accalia and Cole; her mother and stepfather: Darlene (Peggy) and Henry Reddies, Redfield; two brothers and wives: Neill (Dori) Fors, Sheboygan, Wis., and Ken (Teri) Fors, Edmond, Okla.; one sister and husband: Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Bottum, Tulare; two sisters-in-law and their spouses: Mrs. Gene (Marilyn) Hexom, Madison, and Mrs. Rich (Marian) Riddle, Watertown; eight nieces; and special friends in Lake Wilson: Linda and David Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Pearl Bach
Pearl Bach, age 93 of Coleridge, Nebraska, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Laurel, Nebraska with the Rev. Mark Rakow officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.
LeRoy L. Roether
LeRoy L. Roether, of Hartington, Nebraska, died on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington, NE at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington with the Rev. Bob Bryan and Rev. Glen Stahlecker officiating. Burial will be at the Obert cemetery, Obert, NE with military graveside rites by the Hartington VFW Post 5283.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. The family will be present from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. There will be visitation on Thursday one hour prior to services at church.
Emogene Lawrence
Funeral services for Mrs. Emogene A. Lawrence, 81, 107 8th Ave. SW #1, will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Garden City United Methodist Church in Garden City with the Rev. Warren Rhodes officiating. Music will be presented by organist Pat Seefeldt and soloist Kathy Weber.
Burial will be in the Garden City cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Evans, Rod Foster, Don Nelson, John Anderson, Gladys Goodroad, Glen and Clarice Goodroad, Helen Woods and friends from the Watercrest Apartments and Home Connections. Active pallbearers will be Doug Loomis, David Waples, Joe Young, Rick Fryhling, Dan Deis and Randy Walkins.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel and Thursday at the church preceding the services. The family is requested to meet Thursday at the church at 1 p.m. to attend the services.
Emogene Lawrence died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at a Lake Norden care center.
She was born March 16, 1918, in Henry to Carl and Flora (Bailey) Loomis Sr. She married
Raymond “Tuffy” Lawrence April 17, 1938, at Garden City.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Lynda of Watertown; and four grandchildren.
Felicitas Josephine Schmidt
Felicitas Josephine Schmidt, age 98, of St. Helena, died on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Avera Sr. James Nursing Home in Yankton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church in St. Helena with Rev. Michael Keating officiating. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception cemetery in St. Helena. Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm with a rosary at 2:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska. Felicitas Josephine Schmidt was born on March 5, 1910 in St. Helena, NE to Joseph A. and Josephine (Becker) Suing. She lived in St. Helena all her life. She married
Raymond D. Schmidt on February 20, 1939 in St. Helena, NE. He died on July 12, 1991.
Felicitas was a member of Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She loved to can, bake and garden. She also loved to play cards and belonged to the St. Helena Card Club.
Felicitas was survived by 5 children and their spouses, Darrold and Jean Schmidt of South Sioux City, NE, Rodney Schmidt of St. Helena, Marilyn and Lloyd Hejna of Utica, SD, Arlynn and Dorothy Schmidt of Elk Point, SD, Marvin "Butch" and Marlene Schmidt of Fordyce, NE; 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; brother-in-law Ronald Schmidt of Yankton, SD.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Sharon Schmidt; 4 brothers, Hugo, Arnold, Clarence, and Ervin Suing; 6 sisters, Maxalinda Jansen, Alma Suing, Roseanne Hoebelheinrich, Adeline Suing, Mary Hochstein, and Lavina Kramer.
Kristin B. Milander
Kristin Milander, age 26 of Coleridge, NE, died on Sunday, November 02, 2008 at the Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE due to complications from Spina Bifida.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Coleridge with the Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be at the Coleridge City cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at the Pilgrim Congregational Church. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge.
Pallbearers will be Holly Blahah, Amber Goering, Heather Goering, Trevor Longe, Troy Longe, and Nick Puppe.

Kristin was born on March 11, 1982 to Jon and Carol (Olson) Milander in Osmond, NE. She grew up in Coleridge and graduated from Coleridge High School in 2000. She graduated with honors from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 2005. She had a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. Kristin had been employed by the Tea area schools in South Dakota.
Kristin was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ. In High School, she loved being on the speech team and doing extemporaneous speaking and persuasive speaking. She was a member of the band, loved to teach Sunday School and Bible School. She was involved in various religious groups at USD, was an avid reader, loved to play games and was an avid sports fan and Nebraska Football fan.
Survivors are her parents, Jon and Carol Milander of Coleridge, NE; brother, Jeremy Milander of Lincoln, NE; maternal grandparents, Bertha Olson of Coleridge; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Donna Milander of Coleridge; 4 aunts and uncles and their spouses, Arlene and Ted Longe of Norfolk, NE, Ray and Roberta Olson of St. Paul, MN, Pam and Kevin Goering of Platte Center, NE, Karla and Greg Pippitt of Laurel, NE; special friend, Chris Berg of Lennox, SD.
Kristin was preceded in death by her brother, David, maternal grandfather, Howard Olson, and her great grandparents.
Jacquelyn Ann Tone
Jacquelyn Ann Tone, age 58, of Yankton, South Dakota died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services are 10:30 AM, on Monday, January 26, 2009 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yankton with Reverend David Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, on Sunday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service and video tribute at 7:00 PM.
Jacquelyn was born on September 14, 1950 in Madison, South Dakota to Jack and Marie (Bakke) Wulff. She attended Beadle Grade School in Madison and graduated from Madison High School. Jacquelyn attended Dakota State University in Madison, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. After school, she taught in Gann Valley, South Dakota and would help out at the family business, the Lake Madison Resort. On December 26, 1974, Jacquelyn married
Ron Tone in Madison. After their marriage, they moved to Livonia, Michigan. She stayed at home to raise her family, and then worked as a secretary at Peace Lutheran Church and School for a number of years. Later, she worked as an aide at Cleveland Elementary. In 1987, the family moved to Yankton. Jacquelyn went back to school and received her Master's Degree in Education from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. After she completed school, she worked as a substitute teacher. Over the next couple of years, Jacquelyn worked at Alco, Walmart, Ability Building Services, and H.A.P.Y. (Handicapped Advocacy Program of Yankton). At one point, she taught in Baltic, South Dakota for a year. Jacquelyn worked as a CNA at the Human Services Center in Yankton until her retirement. Jacquelyn loved to write poetry and enjoyed attending writer's group meetings. She was involved with Bible study at St. John's Lutheran Church and the Avera Sacred Heart Auxiliary.
Jacquelyn is survived by her 3 children: Terry (Vicki) Strang of Chamberlain, SD, Nicoly Tone of Fort Myers, FL and Roni Tone of Battle Creek, NE; 4 grandchildren: Kayla and Kylie Strang and Madeleine and Lydia Roskeland; her father, Jack Wulff of Wentworth, SD; 4 sisters: Anna (John) McMillin of Oklahoma City, Brenda Cruz of Livermore, CA, Janice Jackson of Stansbury Park, UT and Deb Bickett of Wentworth; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jacquelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Ron Tone on June 19, 2007 and her mother, Marie Wulff.
Wesley "Wes" Van Daalen
(February 23, 1931 - November 18, 2012)
Wesley "Wes" Van Daalen, 81, of Dell Rapids passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, November 23, 2012 at United Methodist Church in Dell Rapids. Burial will be in the Dell Rapids cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.
Wesley was born February 23, 1931 on a farm south of Egan, SD in Moody County to parents Wesley, Sr. and Laura (Baldwin) Van Daalen. He grew up in the area and attended school in Egan, graduating in 1950. He participated in basketball and track, setting several records which are still unbeaten.
Wes married
Maureen Christensen January 1, 1951 at Sioux Valley Baptist Church, rural Moody County. They farmed east of Trent from 1952 to 1981. They moved to Dell Rapids in 1981. While farming, Wes sold feed part time and then eventually ventured into a livestock equipment business. He sold the business in 1998 and became officially retired. Wes and Maureen spent their winters at Siesta Village in Weslaco, Texas from 1996 to 2004. Maureen passed away December 31, 2008.
Wes was known by three names; his relatives called him “Jr." classmates and teachers called him “Hap” and everyone called him “Wes” when he started farming east of Trent. He was not good at remembering names but could figure out who people were by which name they addressed him by.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Egan, United Methodist Church in Dell Rapids, Moose Lodge in Sioux Falls and was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for several years. While wintering in Texas he helped distribute food and clothing to the needy. In his spare time he remodeled several houses and helped with the new addition to the Methodist Church in Dell Rapids.
Wes passed away November 18, 2012 at Riverview Manor in Flandreau, SD at the age of 81.
Grateful for having shared his life are two sons, Douglas (Rita), Mandan, ND and Thomas (Shelly), Dell Rapids; five granddaughters, Cozette, Amber, Courtney, Tina and Crystal; six great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey Leuning, Jasper, MN and very special companion, Bernice Wrage and her family as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Wes was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen; parents; daughter, Patricia Van Holland and a brother.
Katherine L. Richardson
Services for Katherine L. Richardson, 85, Nampa, Idaho, formerly of Faulkton, were held Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at the Nampa First Christian Church, Nampa. Burial was at the Kohlerlawn cemetery, Nampa. The Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, Nampa, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Richardson died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at a local care center.
She was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Faulkton to Michael and Lula Heber. She was reared and educated in Faulkton. She moved to Napa in 1940 with her brother, Marion Heber.
She met her husband, George Richardson, Sr., in Nampa and they were married
May 16, 1942. They became parents of three children, Gary, Joanne and George, Jr. During their growing-up years she was “very busy working with the PTA in the Nampa and Vallivue school districts [and] was also very involved in Girl Scouts and 4-H.”
In 1971 she decided to return to school and was accepted at Boise State College School of Nursing, graduating as an LPN in 1972. She worked as a nurse at Caldwell Memorial Hospital (West Valley Medical Center) from 1972 until retiring in 1984.
Following her retirement she was “very involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, still taking care of them well into her 70s. They were her joy in life and she loved every minute spent with them. She would attend any basketball game, piano recital, [or] whatever they were involved with. She was also an avid sports fan, never missing a game on TV. The BSU Broncos were her favorite. Many times she would be watching one game on TV and listening to another game with an earpiece.”
She was a member of the Karcher Church of the Nazarene and in her later years attended the Nampa First Christian Church. “Mom and Grandma was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She will remain always in their hearts.”
Survivors include her three children and their spouses: Gary (Bea) Richardson, Mrs. Lonny (Joanne) Hancock, and George (Dee) Richardson, all of Nampa; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister: Violet Grapp, Boise, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and two sisters.
