Ronald M. Gramling
RAPID CITY - Ronald M. Gramling, 19, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, west of Kadoka as a result of an automobile accident.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Sandra Gramling and Leslie Hubbard, Rapid City; his father and stepmother, Myron and Bobbi Jo DuBray, Rapid City; seven sisters, Lynette Gramling, Carrie Gramling, Lisa Andrews, Karlie DuBray and Amber Janis, all of Rapid City, Maria Bowman and her husband Kenney and Ronette Gallegos and her husband Mike, all of Evans, Colo.; two brothers, Brent Gramling and Myron DuBray Jr., both of Rapid City; and a special friend, Misty Rose Elliott, Rapid City.
A wake will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Rapid City. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, at the church, with Rev. Paul Sneve officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View cemetery in Rapid City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.
Victoria Wyman Cain
GREEN RIVER, Wyo. - Victoria Wyman Cain, 83, Green River and formerly of Aladdin and Hulett, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs.
Survivors include one son, Barry Cain, Dutch John, Utah; one stepson, Gary Cain, Pueblo, Colo.; one daughter, Shirley McCauley, Green River; two brothers, Robert Wyman, Sundance, and Charles Wyman, Reno, Nev.; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Her husband, Howard L. Cain, preceded her in death.
Services were Tuesday, May 7, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Green River, with the Rev. Russ Johnson officiating.
Burial was at Riverview cemetery in Green River.
Geraldine Seidler
KADOKA - Geraldine Seidler, 71, Kadoka, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Survivors include her husband, Connie Seidler, Kadoka; two daughters, Joyce Thompson, Chulla Vista, Calif., and Patty Morris, Romoland, Calif.; one granddaughter; one brother, Lloyd Johnston, Kadoka; and one sister, Norma Jean Hopkins, Kadoka.
Arrangements are pending with Rush Funeral Chapel of Kadoka.
Frank Louis Galligo
RAPID CITY - Frank Louis Galligo, 69, Rapid City, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia Galligo, Rapid City; three sons, Frank Galligo, Doyle Galligo and John Galligo, all of Rapid City; two sisters, Julia Savely, New Plymouth, Ohio, and Carol Tubbs, Phoenix; and two grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Mother Butler Center in Rapid City, with a 7 p.m. Christian wake service.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, at Mother Butler Center, with the Rev. LeRoy DeCory officiating.
Burial, with military honors by Sturgis Honor Guard, will be at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.
Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.
Francis Robert McMasters
LAKE PRESTON - Francis Robert McMasters, 82, Lake Preston, died Friday, May 17, 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Verla McMasters, Lake Preston; three sons, Loren McMasters, Sinai, Paul McMasters, Lake Preston, and Leigh McMasters, Rapid City; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Tropp, Florida.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Osthus Funeral Home in De Smet.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, at United Church of Christ in Lake Preston, with the Rev. Jerry Stolp officiating.
Burial will follow at Lake Preston cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to De Smet Memorial Hospital.
Hilda Elsie Klein
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Hilda Elsie Klein, 93, Albuquerque and formerly of Deadwood, S.D., died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Kaseman Hospital Hospice in Albuquerque.
Survivors include one son, David Klein, Albuquerque; one daughter, Judi Fitzgerald; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Charles Klein, preceded her in death.
Private graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, at Oak Ridge cemetery in Deadwood, with the Rev. Ron Hennies officiating.

Anthony L. Armstrong
BELLE FOURCHE - Anthony L. Armstrong, 46, Belle Fourche, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include one brother, Tchaun Armstrong, Denver.

Norma Hulda Arthurs
RAPID CITY - Norma Hulda Arthurs, 85, Rapid City, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at a local nursing home.
Survivors include one son, George Arthurs, Corona, Calif.; one daughter, Susan Conrad, Black Hawk; two brothers, Victor Hornbostel, Sun City, Ariz., and Alvin Hornbostel, Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.
Eugene A. Ness
RAPID CITY - Eugene A. Ness, 83, died at his home on Friday, May 10, 2002, losing his battle with lung cancer.
Gene was born on March 18, 1919, in Yankton, S.D., to George and Alice (Slowey) Ness. He served in the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps from 1941 to 1945 as a Pharmacist Mate 1st Class. Gene married
Loretta M. Kaiser on Jan. 26, 1945, and they made their home in Sioux Falls until 1996, when they moved to Rapid City to be near some of their children. Gene was employed at Brown Drug Co. for more than 40 years, retiring as Operations Manager in 1987. He was a member of the VFW from 1942 until his death, as well as a member of the American Legion. Gene served on the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department for five years, was an active member in the Knights of Columbus for 50 years, and a member of the Board of Directors for Marquette Federal Credit Union for 30 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Throughout his life he enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing and was an avid hunter. He loved his hobby of woodworking, and during his life spent many hours building special oak gifts for his children and grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 57 years, Loretta; children, Jim (Mary) Ness, St. Joseph, Mo., Mary Jean (Curt) Otterness, Elk River, Minn., Ron Ness, Roger (Peggy) Ness, Patti (Bob) Rick, Carol (Dave) Christensen, and Lori (Larry) Plank, all of Rapid City; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home, with a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the Blessed Sacrament Church, with Rev. Michel Mulloy presiding.
Interment, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 Honor Guard will be at the Black Hills National cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society and the Knights of Columbus.
Mary H. Martin
ABERDEEN - Mary H. Martin, 73, Aberdeen and formerly of Isabel, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at her home.
Survivors include six sons, Barry Martin, Denver, Kenny Martin, Hulett, Wyo., Tom Martin, Terry Martin, Mark Martin and Richard Martin, all of Gillette, Wyo.; five daughters, Donna Martin, Leona Martin, Janice Martin and Debbie Martin, all of Rapid City, and Melody Brewer, Aberdeen; four sisters, Veronica Biggs, Raleigh, N.C., Eva Erickson, Las Vegas, Helen Grieve, Owatonna, Minn., and Clara Hagen, Kansas City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; five great-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.
Her husband, Bernhart Martin, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be for one hour before services, which will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Isabel, with the Rev. Andrzej Wyrostek officiating.
Burial will be at Hillsview cemetery in Isabel.

Yvonne J. Halverson
RAPID CITY - Yvonne J. Halverson, 88, Rapid City, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at her home.
Survivors include three children, Sheri Jo Michael, Rapid City, Neil "Mickey" Halverson, Badger, Iowa, and Greg Halverson, Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, George Michotte, Billings, Mont.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. Don Brendtro officiating.

Charles H. Merrill III
SCENIC - Charles H. Merrill III, 48, Scenic, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, as the result of an auto accident.
Charlie was born November 23, 1953, in Rushville, Nebraska, to Charles (Bud) Halley Merrill II and Greta Mae Merrival. He attended grade school in Shannon County schools and graduated in 1972 from Rushville High School. In 1973, Charlie married
Bernadette Fink and they had three children, Charles IV, Melissa and Heather. In 1980, Charlie and his family moved to California, but before long his cowboy traditions called him back to South Dakota. Charlie returned to Scenic to help the family take care of his grandfather, whom he loved with all his heart. Ranching and family were Charlie's true passions in life. In his final years, nothing brought him as much joy as his three beautiful grandchildren.
Charlie has a number of friends that he considered to be like family and he was always more than willing to help them in any way possible. Charlie had many inspirations, thoughts and words of wisdom. He said, "I never met someone I didn't like, for some I just had to look a little harder."
Charlie, with his heart of gold and quick smile, will be forever loved, remembered and missed by his family, friends and everyone who knew him.
Survivors include a son, Charles Merrill IV, Rapid City; two daughters, Melissa Merrill, Scenic, and Heather Merrill, Rapid City; three brothers, Mike Merrill, Chicago, Ill., Shawn Merrill, Scenic, and Jesse Merrill, Pine Ridge; three sisters, Patricia Olic, Scenic, Desire Merrill, Pine Ridge, and Suzette Brown, Rapid City; his mother, Greta Brown, Rapid City; his father and stepmother, Charles II and Doris Merrill, Pine Ridge; his aunt, Twila Merrill, Scenic; special friend, Carolyn Thompson; three grandchildren, Michael, Parris and Bolton; cousins Dave and LeeAnn Keester; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Halley Merrill I, grandmother Eletta (Toots) Mae Merrill, two brothers Raymond Fowler Merrill and Darrell Brown, and Darrell Laverne Peck.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Open Bible Christian Center, 2225 E. St. Patrick Street, Rapid City, with Rev. Gary Walker officiating. Interment will be at the Mountain View cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
Alma Metcalf
AVON - Alma Metcalf, 85, Avon, died Friday, May 10, 2002, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Kurtz, Rapid City; one son, Robert, Sioux Falls; two sisters, Opal Ratzlaff, Avon, and Carol Lukkes, Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Merlin Boese, Custer; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, Monday, May 13, and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 14, at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Avon.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Avon.
