Marvin C. Peters
OMAHA, Neb. — Marvin C. Peters, 88, Omaha and formerly of Rapid City, S.D., died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at his home.
Survivors include three sons, Marvin Peters and Corey Peters, both of Rapid City, and Kenneth Peters, Winnemucca, Nev.; three daughters, Barbara Anderson, Rapid City, Mary Kirk,
Omaha, and Beverly Cook, Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be for one hour before services, which will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City, with the Rev. Preston Brown officiating.
Burial will be at Mountain View cemetery in Rapid City.
Roseable Gore Oshier
WEST BEND, Wis. - Roseable Gore Oshier, 88, of West Bend, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, in West Bend.
She was born on July 15, 1914, to Georgia Sarchet Gore and Bancroft Gore in Butte, Mont. Bancroft was a metallurgy professor at the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City.
Roseable graduated from Montana State in 1938. In 1990, she graduated from Bible college. She married
Ed Oshier. She was an executive secretary in Detroit, Mich. She was also a teacher in the Rapid City school system.
Roseable was a committed Evangelical Christian all of her life. With all of her heart and soul she cared for others and encouraged peace. She was generous and funny, even with the most difficult people.
She is survived by her nieces Elizabeth Shreve of Chicago, Ill., and Georgia Shreve, New York City, N.Y.; and her nephew Charles Shreve of Detroit, Mich.; grandnieces Charlotte and Georgia Shreve of Detroit; and grandnephews, Gregory and Dunkon Spencer of New York City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Oshier, in 1993; her sister, Blanche Gore Shreve, of Rapid City; and her brother, George Gore, of Carmel, Calif.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at the Hill City cemetery, with Fr. David Cameron officiating.
Funeral services are under the direction of the Campbell. Paula & Quinn Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Bennie H. Brist
STURGIS - Bennie H. Brist, 92, Sturgis, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Survivors include seven sons, Mike Brist, Palmerton, Pa., Wesley Brist, Huron, Harry Brist, Rapid City, Major Brist, Elko, Nev., Colonel Brist, Sturgis, Admiral Brist, Sioux City, Iowa, and Todd Brist, Chester, Va.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis.
Norma Hulda Arthurs
RAPID CITY - Norma Hulda Arthurs, 85, of Rapid City, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at a local nursing home.
Norma was born October 22, 1916, at Hoxie, Kan., to Otto and Hulda (Luehrman) Hornbostel. She received her nurses training at Michael Reese Hospital Training School in Chicago, and then served her country as a Navy Nurse during World War II. She married
Roy Francis Arthurs on July 22, 1946, at Papillion, Neb. They made their home in Omaha, Neb., until moving to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1957. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs. She has resided in Rapid City since 1998.
She is survived by one son, George Arthurs and wife Corwyn of Corona, Calif.; one daughter, Susan Conrad and husband Andy of Black Hawk, S.D.; two brothers, Victor Hornbostel and wife Rubye of Sun City, Ariz., and Alvin Hornbostel of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren,
Diane Gihring and husband Jason of Orange, Calif., David Arthurs of Riverside, Calif., and Tim Conrad of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and one great-grandchild, D.J. Gihring of Orange, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Arthurs; son, John Arthurs; parents, Otto and Hulda Hornbostel; and three siblings, Roland Hornbostel, Ted Hornbostel and Ruth Hornbostel.
Services are set for Monday, May 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Bill Paepke officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of the arrangements.
Geraldine Seidler
KADOKA - Geraldine Seidler, age 71, of Kadoka died Friday, May 17, 2002, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Geraldine Johnston was born April 14, 1931, in Washabaugh County, southeast of Kadoka, the daughter of Louris and Louise (Jones) Johnston. She was raised in Washabaugh and Jackson County all of her life.
She received her education in Washabaugh and Jackson County Schools.
On October 15, 1949, Geraldine was united in marriage to Conrad Seidler in Rapid City, South Dakota. They moved to their ranch south of Kadoka, where they still live. They spent six years in the winter months at Chula Vista, California, and nineteen years in El Centro, California, until they moved home in 2002.
Geraldine was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Grateful for having shared her life are husband C.A. "Connie" Seidler of Kadoka; two daughters, Joyce Thompson and her husband Ron of Chula Vista, California, and Patty Morris and her husband Charles of Romoland, California; a special granddaughter, Stacey Dahlmer and her husband Jon of Hansom Air Force Base in Boston, Massachusetts; one sister Norma Jean Hopkins of Kadoka; one brother, Lloyd Johnston and his wife Terry of Kadoka; two sisters-in-law, Mary Johnston of Belvidere, and Annie Lemler of Dickinson, North Dakota.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lester and Leonard Johnston.
A memorial has been established to the Kadoka Ambulance Service.
Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating.
Interment will be 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to the Kadoka Ambulance Service.
Gertrude Taylor
SPEARFISH - Gertrude Taylor, 92, Spearfish, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish.
Survivors include one son, Martin Taylor, Arizona.
Arrangements are pending with Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish.
Chap Robert Stewart
MOORCROFT, Wyo. - Chap Robert Stewart, 60, Moorcroft, died Monday, May 13, 2002, in rural Campbell County.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Stewart, Moorcroft; three sons, William Stewart, Phillip Stewart and Ronald Stewart, all of Moorcroft; three daughters, Suzanne Wollman, Gillette, Paula Anderson, Minneapolis, and Alison Stewart, Missoula, Mont.; five brothers, Ralph Stewart, Florida, Fran Stewart, Sundance, Gale Stewart and Matt Stewart, both of Moorcroft, and Gen Stewart, Battleground, Wash.; seven sisters, Fawn Swaney, Ian Laumbach and Mona Schoenfelder, all of Sheridan, Fonda Wendling, Robin Lindberg and Rosie Waliezer, all of Moorcroft, and Helen Massie, Rozet; and seven grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, May 18, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Spearfish, S.D., with burial at Moorcroft cemetery.

Anthony L. Armstrong
BELLE FOURCHE - Anthony L. Armstrong, 46, Belle Fourche, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include one brother, Tchaun Armstrong, Denver.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche, with the Rev. Arnold Kari officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Green Hill cemetery in Laramie, Wyo.

Bernice Mary Lewis Crandall
RAPID CITY - Bernice Mary Lewis Crandall, 83, Rapid City, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at a Rapid City nursing home.
Survivors include her husband, Chester Crandall, Rapid City; one daughter, Connie Higgins, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Verla Jung, Jamestown, N.D.; one stepson, Elby Crandall, Rapid City; one brother, Bill Cook, Sacramento, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 20, at First Assembly of God Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Richard Tufts officiating.
Burial will be at Pine Lawn cemetery in Rapid City.
A memorial has been established for March of Dimes Crippled Children's Fund.
Evelyn Emily Little Hawk
CALICO - Evelyn Emily Little Hawk, 32, Calico, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Calico.
Survivors include two daughters, Deanna and Denishia Little Hawk; her parents, Cecil and Leona Little Hawk, Calico; two sisters, Loretta Little Hawk, Porcupine, and Jane Rodriguez, Pine Ridge; and one brother, Cecil Little Hawk Jr., Calico.
A two-night wake will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Advent Chapel in Calico.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, at the chapel, with the Rev. Ben Tyon, the Rev. Agnes Tyon, and the Rev. Leo American Horse officiating. Mr. Marvin Helper will officiate over traditional services.
Burial will be at Advent Chapel Episcopal cemetery in Calico.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Buchanan Markwed
PIERRE - Margaret Buchanan Markwed, 93, Pierre and formerly of Midland, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.
Survivors include one son, Billy Markwed, Midland; one sister, Alice Jeitz, Pierre; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, William Markwed, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Feigum Funeral Home in Pierre.
Services will be at 10 a.m. CST Saturday, May 18, at Deep Creek Lutheran Church in Moenville.
Burial will follow at Deep Creek cemetery.
