HURON - Dale M. Koch, 80, Huron, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 201, at Huron Nursing Home.

Arrangements are pending with Welter Funeral Home in Huron.

Genevieve F. Maude

CAPUTA - Genevieve F. Maude, 81, Caputa, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Maude, Caputa; three sons, Marvin Maude, Marion Maude and Marlin Maude, all of Hermosa; one daughter, Marlene Maude, Rapid City; one brother; three sisters, 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.

C.W. 'Buster' Dotson

RAPID CITY - C.W. "Buster" Dotson, 88, of Rapid City and formerly of Sidney, Mont., died Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at his residence.

Buster was born January 30, 1913, in Newlan, Mont., to George and Minnie (Keaton) Dotson. He grew up and attended schools in the Sidney/Lambert area, and he married Geraldine Chase on July 6, 1936, in Sidney. The couple made their home on the Dotson homestead and lived and farmed in the area until their retirement in the early 1980s. They moved into Sidney, where they lived until his wife of 63 years, Geraldine, died in July of 1999. Buster has since lived in Rapid City with his son, Ed.

He was an avid sportsman, and while serving as president of the local sportsman's club in the 1950s, he was instrumental in the preservation of big game and upland birds in the area. Buster was very community-oriented and had an integral part in the construction of the Gartside Dam and early REA and telephone service. He was the last remaining charter member of the Sidney Moose Lodge and was a longtime member of the People's Congregational Church.

Buster was a wonderful father, not only to his own children, but to his extended family of nieces and nephews as well. He was a spiritual man, evidenced in his deeds, more so than his words.

Survivors include his two sons, Ed Dotson of Rapid City and Terry Dotson and wife, Maryann, of Port Angeles, Wash.; his three daughters, Sandy Hartwell and her husband, Gary, of Ironton, Missouri, Cheryl McEnulty and her husband, Pat, of Portland, Ore., and Pamela Dotson of Johnson Island (Pacific); one brother, Paul Dotson and his wife, Gertrude, of Harlowtown, Mont.; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Buster was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Art Dotson and C.W. Dotson Jr. in infancy; three sisters; and five brothers.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City. Visitation will also be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Fulkerson Funeral Home in Sidney. A prayer service will be at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 8, at the People's Congregational Church in Sidney, with Rev. Perry Blanchard officiating. Interment will follow at Sidney cemetery.

The family requests contributions to your local hospice program, and cards may be sent c/o Ed Dotson, P.O. Box 4167, Rapid City, SD 57709.

Donald L. Parker

KEYSTONE - Donald L. Parker, 85, Keystone, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Main, Keystone; one son, Darrell Parker, Washington; one brother, Jackie Parker, Lincoln, Ark.; one sister, JoAnn Kidd, Cody, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Rushmore Supper Club in Keystone, with the Rev. Barbara Gammeter officiating.

Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City is in charge of local arrangements.

Rueben Calvin Fire Thunder Jr.

ALLEN - Rueben Calvin Fire Thunder Jr., 48, Allen, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in Denver.

Survivors include two sisters, Charlene Fire Thunder and Barbara Paul, both of Greensboro, N.C., and two brothers, Kenneth Fire Thunder and Elmer Fire Thunder, both of Greensboro.

A one-night wake will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Fire Thunder residence in Yellow Bear Camp, Allen.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Fire Thunder Residence, with the Rev. Daniel Makes Good officiating. Lorenzo Last Horse and Eugene Reddest will officiate over traditional ceremonies.

Burial will be at Trinity Episcopal cemetery in Allen.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

Oliver Morgan Hovland

WEBSTER - Oliver Morgan Hovland, 91, Webster and formerly of Ortley, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Bethesda Home in Webster.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Hovland, Webster; three sons, Warren Hovland, Brookings, Bradley Hovland, Rapid City, and Steven Hovland, Tempe, Ariz.; one brother, Bill Hovland, Las Vegas; and two granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Fiksdal Funeral Home of Webster, and before services Saturday, Oct. 6, at Hope Lutheran Church in Summit.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Kay Richter officiating. Burial will be at Ortley cemetery.

Allan 'Bud' Dillinger

MOORCROFT, Wyo. - Allan "Bud" Dillinger, 63, rural Moorcroft, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Dillinger, rural Moorcroft; one son, Scott Dillinger, Cheyenne; one daughter, Julie Walker, New Berlin, Wis.; one stepson, Russ Barnes, Moorcroft; one stepdaughter, Susan Bock, Gillette; three brothers, Ed Dillinger, Gillette, Louis Dillinger, Laramie, and Dan Dillinger, Cheyenne; two sisters, Maxine Butcher, Los Angeles, and Doris, Snowflake, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Friday, Oct. 5, at First Southern Baptist Church in Moorcroft.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Fred Creason officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley cemetery in rural Moorcroft.

Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel of Sundance is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Hart Marshall Roth

RAPID CITY - Ruby Hart Marshall Roth, 93, Rapid City, died Monday, October 1, 2001, at Clarkson Mountain View Nursing Home.

Ruby Roth was born July 30, 1908, on the Hart Ranch, to John and Mary Elizabeth Hart. She was one of 12 children: two brothers, five sisters, two half-brothers and two half-sisters.

Ruby Hart married Charles Marshall in 1926. They had three daughters. Charles died in 1975. Ruby married Hubert Roth in 1978.

She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Carson and her husband, Larry, Grand Junction, Colo., Jo Anne Olsen and her husband, William, Grand Junction, Colo., and Sally Ann Talley and her husband, John, Keystone, S.D.; her sister, Pearl Houghton, Rapid City, S.D.; also seven grandchildren, Joyce Haney and her husband, Leonard, Rapid City, S.D., Michael Olsen, Albuquerque, N.M., Timothy Olsen, Chinle, Ariz., Katherine Binger and her husband, Dan, Rifle, Colo., Kimberly Heutzenroeder and her husband, Keith, Houston, Texas, Sean Carson and his wife, Bridget, Fayetteville, N.C., and Scott Carson and his wife, Kris, Oceanside, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren, including Samantha, Joanna and Elizabeth Haney, all of Rapid City, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews, including John Colgan, Hermosa, S.D., Maureen Ensor, Keystone, S.D., and Mary Davies, Rapid City, S.D. She is also survived by Hubert Roth's son, Hubert Roth Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, two daughters, Loyce and her husband, Don, and Betty Schurger and her husband, Bob. Ruby also leaves behind her niece, Patricia Marshall Dewy and her family of Rapid City, and all the wonderful caregivers of Clarkson-Mountain View Guest Home.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Charles Marshall in 1975; husband Hubert Roth in 1995; two half-brothers; two half-sisters; two brothers; and four sisters.

We will ever carry in our memory our Mother's joyfulness and goodness and love.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2001, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Behrens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 5, 2001, at 11 a.m. at First Wesleyan Church, 202 E. St. Francis St., with Reverend Michael Schultz and Reverend R. Scott Wiley.

Burial will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.

Contributions may be made in the name of Ruby Roth to the memorial of your choice.

Delma Dawn Sevier

PIERRE - Delma Dawn Sevier, 30, Pierre, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Sevier, Pierre; her parents, Ivan and Adrienne Bruguier, Cherry Creek; two brothers, Lee Bruguier, Vermillion, and Jared Slader, Cherry Creek; and one sister, Denise Casillas, Vermillion.

Visitation and prayer service were held Tuesday, Oct. 2.

A wake service will be today at St. John's Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the church.

Burial will follow at St. Peter's Episcopal cemetery in Thunder Butte.

Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel of Pierre is in charge of arrangements.

Lorene C. Young

CUSTER - Lorene C. Young, 83, of Custer, died Tuesday, October 2, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Custer.

A Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 5, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer, with Fr. John Heying officiating.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 6, also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Fr. John Heying officiating and Deacon Pat Coy assisting.

Burial will be at the Custer City cemetery.

Lorene was born April 11, 1918, in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, to Daniel and Mary (Evans) Neville. She was the third of seven children. She attended several schools in eastern South Dakota near Madison and Winfred, and graduated from Winfred High School in May of 1936.

Lorene was diagnosed with tuberculosis during the summer of 1936, and in March of 1937 was admitted to the South Dakota State Tuberculosis Sanatorium near Custer.

She spent the next three years there, and was dismissed in March of 1940.

She returned to the farm near Winfred and resumed a romance with William Young. They were married August 7, 1940. They lived and farmed in the Winfred area until 1951 when Lorene was again admitted to the S.D. State Tuberculosis Sanatorium. At that time, her husband and two sons moved to Custer to be near her.

She remained at Sanator until 1953. During the time she was there, she edited the SanKota, which was the Sanatorium newsletter.

Lorene was a Custer County Chronicle reporter from the mid-1950s into the 1990s, finishing as the "locals" reporter in 1993.

She also reported for the Rapid City Journal in the 1960s and 1970s.

She was awarded the prestigious Agnes Holdridge Award for service to the South Dakota Lung Association in 1976.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer, the St. John's Altar Society, the Custer Senior Center, the Custer VFW Auxiliary, the Custer County Historical Society, the Custer Hospital Auxiliary, the South Dakota Lung Association and was active in the Democratic Party for nearly 40 years.

Survivors include two sons, Mark A. Young of Sioux Falls, S.D., and William and his wife, Linda Young, of Custer; two brothers, Hilary T. Neville of Owatonna, Minn., and Daniel "Hap" Neville of Madison, S.D.; three granddaughters, Tracy and Stacey Bauer of Owatonna, Minn., Christy and Miles Mettler of Champaign, Ill., and Kathy and Doug Neises of Madison, S.D.; two grandsons, Steve Young of Vermillion, S.D., and Christopher Neubert of Sioux Falls, S.D.; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and sisters, and her husband, William.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel of Custer.

Helen Ruth Myhre

RAPID CITY - Helen Ruth Myhre, 82, Rapid City, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in Rapid City.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Myhre, Rapid City; one daughter, Dorothy Benson, Minneapolis; and two sons, Donald Myhre, Rapid City, and David Myhre, Minneapolis.

Arrangements are pending with Campbell, Paula and Quinn Funeral Service of Rapid City.

Donald John Petrik

WAGNER - Donald Petrik, 68, of Wagner, died Monday, October 1, 2001, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2001, at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be held Thursday from noon until 5 p.m. at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Donald John Petrik was born in rural Wag-ner, S.D., on June 15, 1933, the son of John and Emma (Bartunek) Petrik. On March 30, 1958, he married his partner for life, Marlene Hopf.

Donnie was a good provider, a loving father and a faithful husband who had a great passion for farming. Survivors blessed by having shared his life are his wife, Marlene of Wagner; three sons, David, Darryl and Dale Petrik, all of Wagner; two daughters, Dianne and husband, Fred Ellwein, of Rapid City, and Donna and husband, Scott Appletoft, of Mitchell; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Emma Sopoci of Armour; his stepfather, John Sopoci of Wagner; and a brother, Marvin and wife, Theola Petrik, of Wagner.
