RAPID CITY -- Mark P. Wright, 37, Los Angeles, Calif., resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Rapid City.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Walter Linderman; his father and stepmother, Larry and Lucy Wright, all of Rapid City, and two brothers, Preston Wright, Portland, Maine, and Colin Wright, East Hampton, New York.
Services are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.
Clarence Henry 'Short' Reuwsaat
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Clarence Henry "Short" Reuwsaat, 82, died October 13, 2001, at the New Mexico VA Health Care System after a brief illness.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2001, at the Custer cemetery, with Rev. Keith Ballinger officiating.
Reuwsaat was born December 17, 1918, in Dennison, Iowa, to Claus and Jeannie (McKinley) Reuwsaat. He moved to the Black Hills with his family at the age of two. He graduated from Custer High School. He moved to Darrington, Wash., and was employed with the U.S. Forest Service. He retired from the Forest Service in 1983. Reuwsaat served five and one half years in the United States Army, Third Division, gun section, as a First Sergeant.
Reuwsaat is survived by his wife, JoAnn (McKenna), of Albuquerque, N.M.; his son and daughter-in-law, C.A. and Linda Reuwsaat of Arlington, Wash.; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Mark Samaras of Waverly, Ill.; his stepdaughter, Stephanie Burns of Omaha, Neb.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgiana (Flanagan), a grandson, his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Rooks-
McColley Funeral Chapel of Custer.
Wilma Young
RAPID CITY - Wilma Young, 55, Rapid City, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at her home.
Survivors include three sons, Jeff Young, Isaac Young and Ira Young, all of Rapid City; four daughters, Sidnee LeRoy, Rae Ann Witt, Stephanie Young and Ludine Young, all of Rapid City; three sisters, Davene Witt and Sharon Palomo, both of Denver, and Shirley Ortiz, Albuquerque, N.M.; and 23 grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.
Wayne Klein
BELLE FOURCHE - Wayne Klein, 71, Belle Fourche, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.
Survivors include his wife, Luella Klein, Belle Fourche; one son, Lyle Klein, Belle Fourche; two daughters, Cathi Douglas, Box Elder, and Kim Dempcy, Spearfish; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and one sister, Janice Heinz, Ipswich.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche and for one hour before services Saturday, Oct. 20, at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Hans Sacrison officiating.
Burial will be at Pine Slope cemetery in Belle Fourche.
Ann Rae Chyba
SPEARFISH - Ann Rae Chyba, 89, Spearfish and formerly of Deadwood, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Chyba, Campbellsport, Wis., and Ron Chyba, Hot Springs; one daughter, Janet Thoresen, Deadwood; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Rose Hill cemetery's Rose Garden in Spearfish, with the Rev. Greg Kroger officiating. Family and friends may gather at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
Chaput Funeral Home of Deadwood is in charge of arrangements.
Lowell C. Maeder
PIEDMONT - Lowell C. Maeder, 86, Piedmont, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at a Rapid City nursing home.
Survivors include two sons, Corky Maeder, Lakewood, Colo., and Donald Maeder, Rapid City, and a daughter, Maxine Maeder, Macys Town, Ill.
Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.
Ruth R. Gebhardt
RAPID CITY - Ruth R. Gebhardt, 83, Rapid City, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, David Gebhardt, Rapid City, and Robert Gebhardt, Blaine, Wash.; one daughter, Claudette Reichert, New Underwood; one brother, Dr. Kermit Vandenbos, San Antonio; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Kinkade Funeral Chapel of Sturgis.
Esther Louise Rollins
RAPID CITY - Esther Louise Rollins, 81, died Wednesday, October 17, 2001, in Rapid City at Westhills Village Health Care, after four years of battling cancer.
She was born November 26, 1919, at Dallas, S.D., the daughter of Ernest O. and Nettie Haisch Blessing. She attended high school in Dallas and Philip and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1940.
Esther married
Paul R. Rollins on November 27, 1941, in Dallas, S.D. She taught in Bellwood, Neb., Draper, S.D., and Flandreau, S.D. While living in Flandreau, she was a member of Eastern Star and gave lessons to 30 piano students a week.
The family moved to Rapid City in 1959. Esther was active in the First United Methodist Church and was president of United Methodist Women from 1974-78. In the Western District of the United Methodist Church she served as vice president and president from 1980-82. After four years as president of Rapid City Church Women United she received the treasured Valiant Woman award.
Esther was president of Mobile Meals and active in PEO Chapter BM, Inter-Church Conference, Hospital Auxiliary and Church Response Board. In 1975, Dakota Wesleyan University awarded Esther and Paul the Distinguished Service to College and State award. About 1982, they started the Rapid City Parkinson's Support Group and were active in the group for 18 years.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Rollins, Rapid City; two sons, Roger Rollins and his wife, Barb, Aiken, S.C., and Dale Rollins, Nigeria, Africa; two daughters, Annette Ransom and her husband, Jeff, Princeton Junction, N.J., and Beth Merkel and her husband, Gary, Hot Springs, S.D.; one brother, Melvin Blessing, Custer, S.D.; three sisters, Frances Wagner, Sioux Falls, S.D., Lois Frickey, Rapid City, S.D., and Donna Mae Ostlund, Roseburgh, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Keri, Kim and Sara, Rachel and David, and Travis and Mirra; and one great-granddaughter, Tori Lynn.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday at the
Osheim-Catron Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Doug Diehl and Rev. Ken Voas officiating. Interment will be at the Pine Lawn Memorial Park cemetery.
A memorial has been established in support of Parkinson's research.
Grace Isabelle Reynolds
SUNDANCE, Wyo. - Grace Isabelle Reynolds, 96, Sundance and formerly of Oshoto, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Crook County Nursing Home in Sundance.
Survivors include one son, Dave Reynolds, Oshoto; one daughter, Shirley Percifield, Moorcroft; one sister, Hazel Johnson, Hay Springs, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Oshoto Community Bible Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Gary Hashley officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Grove cemetery in Oshoto.
Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel of Sundance is in charge of arrangements.
Edna M. Ernster
RAPID CITY - Edna M. Ernster, 83, Rapid City, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at
Bella Vista Nursing Home.
Survivors include one sister, Willow Porter, Rhode Island.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Mountain View cemetery in Rapid City, with the Rev. Bruce Baum officiating.
Behrens Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.
Wallace E. 'Bill' Frame
SILVERDALE, Wash. - Wallace E. "Bill" Frame, 84, Silverdale and formerly of Faith, S.D., died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Forest Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtice Frame, Silverdale; one son, Larry Frame, Seattle; two daughters, Laura Schmit, San Diego, and Brenda Nores, Mount Vernon, Wash.; two brothers, Jim Frame, Rapid City, and Maurice Frame, Lansford, N.D.; one sister, Carol Johnston, Faith; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Interment Service Center at Black Hills National cemetery in Sturgis, with Chaplain Moe Griener officiating. Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Family and friends may gather at Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis before services.
T. Dorinne Gaver
BELLE FOURCHE - T. Dorinne Gaver, 87, Belle Fourche, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, in Belle Fourche.
Survivors include one son, Charles Whiton, Paradise Valley, Nev.; one brother, Ralph Shaykett, Belle Fourche; and two sisters, Margaret Truman, Rapid City, and Barbara Kiewel, Belle Plaine, Minn.
Arrangements are pending with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
Clara Anderson
RAPID CITY - Clara Anderson passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at Clarkson Mountain View Guest Home at the age of 95.
She was born on August 28, 1906, in Arlington, S.D., the oldest of 10 children, to Peter L. and Carrie Christensen.
On August 28, 1928, she married
Hans Anderson.
They farmed in Oldham and the Lake Preston area before moving to Rapid City in 1958.
Clara was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Her joys in life were her family, her flowers, and quilting. Her beautiful quilts have enlightened the lives of many friends and families.
Those blessed to have shared her life include her children, Ray (wife Lois) Anderson of Rapid City, Eldon (wife Betty) Anderson of Marion, Texas, and Sharon (husband Bob) Bagley of Belle Fourche; five brothers, Howard (wife Ethel) Christensen of Brookings, S.D., Willmer (wife Maxine) Christensen of Watertown, S.D., Vernon (wife Dory) Christensen of Menifee, Calif., Merle Christensen of Arvada, Colo., and Dick (wife Marlys) Christensen of Arlington, S.D.; three sisters, Cora Hemmel of Oldham, S.D., Christie Viggos of Mirage, Calif., and Betty Mohror of Grand Junction, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Berdel Christensen of Arlington; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years in 1981, and her brother Clarence Christensen.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church.
Services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2001, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, with Pastor Dwight Stensgaard officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery under direction of Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to the Calvary Quilters of Calvary Lutheran Church.
