Mary K. Pettyjohn
CUSTER - Mary K. Pettyjohn, 69, Custer, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital as the result of an automobile accident.
Survivors include her husband, Ted Pettyjohn, Custer; three sons, Fred Pettyjohn and Zane Pettyjohn, both of Kadoka, and Ted Pettyjohn, Rapid City; two daughters, Brenda Pettyjohn, Tucson, Ariz., and Jana Coller, Custer; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Gene Dunham, Grand Junction, Colo., Jim Dunham, Newell, and Bill Dunham, Norris; and four sisters, Pharabe Tipton, Wyandotte, Okla., Wanda Mae Ellis, Ponca City, Okla., and Ruth Ann Dunham and Beulah Dunham, both of Rapid City.
Arrangements are pending with Rush Funeral Chapel of Kadoka.
Florence N. Wright
CUSTER - Florence N. Wright, 84, Custer, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Custer.
Survivors include one son, Jackson Wright, Custer; one daughter, Judy Stender, Custer; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Hjordt, Highmore.
Her husband, James Richard Wright, preceded her in death.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel in Custer.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Custer City cemetery, with the Rev. Keith Ballinger officiating.
Eleanora C. Buittner
RAPID CITY - Eleanora C. Buittner, 101, Rapid City, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at her home.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur Buittner, Rapid City, and Anthony Buittner, Tulleson, Ariz., and four daughters, Madeline Jarmen, Watertown, Marie Kursave and Teresa Czmowski, both of Rapid City, and Isabelle Estum, Minnesota.
Arrangements are pending with Crawford Funeral Home of Watertown.
Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of local arrangements.
Beulah Mae Wilson Jacobsen
PIERRE - Beulah Mae Wilson Jacobsen, 86, Pierre, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare in Pierre.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry Jacobsen and Charles Jacobsen, both of Pierre, Danny Jacobsen, Houston, and Richard Jacobsen, Lead; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Nadine Elliot, Prosser, Wash.; three brothers, Charles Wilson, Salem, Ore., Jewell Wilson, Yakima, Wash., and Jimmy Wilson, Virginia; and one daughter, Rosa Lee Fabricius, Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.
Her husband, Henry Jacobsen, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre.
Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Pine Slope cemetery in Belle Fourche.
A memorial has been established for Countryside Hospice.
Violet Gillett Bauer
RAPID CITY - Violet Gillett Bauer, 89, Rapid City and formerly of upper Red Canyon, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at a Rapid City nursing home.
Survivors include her husband, John Bauer, Rapid City; one son, John Bauer, Littleton, Colo.; two stepsons, Clay Bauer and Vern Bauer, both of Rapid City; one sister, Marjorie Walker, Benton City, Wash.; and one brother, Everett Gillett, Rapid City.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the Adventist Church, 4700 South Canyon Road., Rapid City, with the Rev. Charles O'Hare officiating.
Ryan Duane Walters
SPEARFISH - Ryan Duane Walters, 6, Spearfish, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Darla Walters, Spearfish; one brother, Anthony Walters, Spearfish; maternal grandparents, Ray and Diane Feist, Belle Fourche; and paternal grandparents, Lavern and Zaneta Walters, Osage, Iowa.
Closed-casket visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche and for one hour before services Friday, Oct. 12, at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Hans Sacrison officiating.
Burial will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Bethesda Lutheran cemetery north of Morristown.
Gerard Wayne Eagle Bull
PORCUPINE - Gerard Wayne Eagle Bull, 37, Porcupine, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in Minneapolis, Minn.
Gerard Wayne Eagle Bull, "Hehaka Mani, " was born January 4, 1964, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Harry Eagle Bull and Donna Eagle Bull-Tuttle.
He attended school in Aberdeen, S.D., and graduated from Roncalli High School in 1982. He attended Northern State University and the University of Minnesota. He worked most of his life in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He is survived by his parents of Porcupine; two younger sisters, Tammy Eagle Bull-Hesson, Phoenix, Ariz., and Annette Eagle Bull, Porcupine, S.D.; one brother, Jake Eagle Bull, Minneapolis, Minn.; his brother-in-law, Todd Hesson; one niece, Isabelle Hesson; two nephews, Charlie Eagle Bull and Jack Hesson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gerard was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dave Tuttle and Lillian Iron Cloud-Tuttle, and his paternal grandparents, Lloyd Eagle Bull Sr. and Alvina Big Crow-Eagle Bull.
A two-night wake will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 11, at Our Lady of Lourdes Gymnasium, Porcupine, S.D. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001, at Our Lady of Lourdes Gymnasium, Porcupine, S.D. Rev. Peter Klink, S.J., and Rev. Jim Ryan, S.J., will be officiating.
Interment will be at Christ the King cemetery, Porcupine, S.D. Sioux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Wesley Johnson
STURGIS - Robert Wesley Johnson, 80, Sturgis, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Hospital in Sturgis.
Survivors include his wife, Celestine Johnson, Deadwood; two stepsons, Gerald Jemming, Denver, and Donald Jemming, Lead; four stepdaughters, Lorraine Sterna, Deadwood, Mary Kay Wilcoxon, Denver, Susan Sterna, Lead, and Robin Sterna, Sturgis; one brother, Bucky O'Connor, Santa Maria, Calif.; and one sister, Joan Fraser, Sparks, Nev.
Inurnment services, with military honors by Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. Gary Oreshoski officiating.
Kinkade Funeral Chapel of Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.
Birdie Bolie
RAPID CITY - Birdie Bolie, 84, Rapid City, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at a local nursing home.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Glover, Rapid City; two sons, Scott Bolie, Colome, and Bart Bolie, Mitchell; one sister, Lu Elwood, Gordon, Neb.; and two brothers, Donald Slothower, Iowa City, Iowa, and Charles Slothower, Renton, Wash.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Gordon cemetery in Gordon, Neb., with the Rev. Nita Cloran officiating.
N. Gayle Fischer
BOX ELDER - N. Gayle Fischer, 78, Box Elder, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Fischer, Box Elder; three sons, Norman Fischer, David Fischer and Bruce Fischer; two daughters, Beth Fischer and Martha Fischer-Wells; one sister, Mrs. Dwight Schmidt; one brother, Noell Fischer; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Thursday, Oct. 11, at Behrens Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Behrens Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Fischer, the Rev. Bruce Fischer and the Rev. Paul Johns officiating.
Elaine Florence Ryks
WILLMAR, Minn. - Elaine Florence Ryks, 73, Willmar, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at her home.
Survivors include her husband, John Ryks, Willmar; two sons, Donovan Ryks, Willmar, and Darold Ryks, Rapid City; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Raymond Christian Reformed Church in Raymond, with the Rev. Dale Visser officiating. Burial was at Fairview cemetery in Raymond.

Martha Marie Gerber
CUSTER - Martha Gerber, 90, Custer, died Sunday, October 7, 2001, at Colonial Manor in Custer.
Martha Marie, daughter of Gottlieb and Maria (Winkler) Schulz, was born on April 13, 1911, in a sod house on the farm of her parents in Oliver County, North Dakota. At the age of four, she played the pump organ for her church.
Martha married
Emmett Peck on Sept. 17, 1929. Five children were born from that union. They lived in the Baker, Montana, area and Camp Crook, S.D.
In December of 1951, Martha married
Ralph Gerber in Rapid City, S.D. She was widowed after 32 years of marriage to Ralph.
Martha was a licensed practical nurse, caring for patients in Baker, Mont.; Bowman, N.D.; Belle Fourche, Hot Springs, Custer and Rapid City, S.D.; and Alliance, Neb., where she also worked as a head nurse in surgery. In later years, she operated a home-care assisted-living facility in Rapid City.
Martha was preceded in death by one son, Harvey Harold Peck; two husbands; and a son-in-law, Vernon Molitor.
Survivors include two sons, Vearl Peck and his wife, Joyce, and Dennett Peck and his wife, Deanna, all of Rapid City; two daughters, Elaine Molitor and Mary J. Peck, both of Hot Springs; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Martha had been a resident of Colonial Manor in Custer, S.D., from November of 1992 to Oct. 7, 2001.
Visitation will be today, Wednesday, October 10, 2001, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Behrens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 11, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Behrens Funeral Home, with Vicar Tom Beaverson officiating.
Behrens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Betty J. Raulerson
RAPID CITY - Betty J. Raulerson, 73, of Rapid City, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Betty was born September 29, 1928, in Huron, S.D., to Alice (Perry) Bowers and William Bowers. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1947. She married
Jack Raulerson October 11, 1952.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Rosenberg of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandsons, Joey and Jason Rosenberg; and her cousins, Darlene Steinburg and Viola Pelkey of Rapid City, Deloris Grossman of Custer, Darline Brander of Piedmont, and Delores Matusiak of Rapid City.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and sister, Joyce Brockelsby.
She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her dearly.
A memorial has been established.
Visitation will be held from noon until 5 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2001, at Kirk Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2001, at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. Bill Paepke officiating.
