Dora I. (Hall) Voorhes Walters, 89
Dora I. (Hall) Voorhes Walters, 89, of Pierre, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at St. Mary’s TCU.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at Christ Episcopal Church in Gettysburg with a luncheon at the Gettysburg Senior Center. Inurnment will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Mesa, Ariz., at a later date.
Isburg Funeral Chapel of Pierre has been placed in care of the arrangements.
Dora I. Hall was born Jan. 18, 1920, to Leon Ernest and Susan J. (Barr) Hall in Potter County, the middle of nine children. She graduated from Presentation College in 1943 as a registered nurse. Dora worked as a supervisor at St. Luke’s Hospital, the Miller Hospital in St. Paul and the Cheyenne Agency Hospital. She also worked for many years and was well known in the Potter County area as the nurse at the Gettysburg Clinic and Gettysburg Hospital.
Dora was united in marriage in 1943 to Boyd (Buster) Voorhes. A son, Rick, was born to this union in 1947. Dora married
Robert (Bob) Walters in 1970 and they made their home in DeSmet. She continued her nursing career working as the director of nurses in the DeSmet Nursing Home and the DeSmet Hospital.
In 1976, Dora retired and she and Bob moved to Kansas City, where they lived until Bob retired in 1981, when they moved to Mesa, Ariz. After Bob’s death in 1998, she returned to South Dakota to be near her son’s family in Pierre.
While living in Mesa, Dora was very proud to have served as a Stephen minister for the Episcopal Church. She also loved to crochet and do counter cross stitch and made many baby blankets, booties and sweaters for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dora is survived by her son, Rick (Denise) Voorhes, of Pierre; step-sons: Greg, Don and Mark Walters; her grandson, Mark Voorhes, of Laramie, Wyo.; her granddaughter, Anne Voorhes, of St. Paul, Minn.; and her sister, Catherine Wahle, of Custer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Buster and Bob, five brothers: Floyd, Orie, George, Alvin and Dick; and two sisters: Lavone Fox and Emma Rettig.
Memorials may be directed to Christ Episcopal Church in Gettysburg.
Roul William Eichers
April 17, 1956 - March 15, 2011
Roul William Eichers 54 of Rapid City passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held 1:00pm Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Brass Rail in Rapid City.
Survivors include his son Chris Eichers of Spearfish.
A memorial has been established to the family Chris Eichers 122 State Street Lot#20 Spearfish, SD 57783.
Elmer C. Wieczorek
HOT SPRINGS — Elmer C. Wieczorek, 83, of Hot Springs and formerly of Rapid City, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at the State Veterans Home in Hot Springs.
He was born Nov. 19, 1917, at Wishek, N.D., to Julius and Anna (Nickisch) Wieczorek. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany with the 490th Armored Division. He married
Helen Stampe on Oct. 6, 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church at Hillside near Parkston.
He farmed at Hillside, S.D., until moving to Rapid City in 1959, where he worked for Hills Material until retiring in 1985. For the past six years, he has resided at the State Veterans Home.
He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Rapid City, a life member of VFW Post 1273 of Rapid City, and an honorary member of the Cooties.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Ray Wieczorek of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Darold Edward Wieczorek of Corsica, S.D.; five daughters, Jane Elizabeth Yarbrough and husband, Charles, of Rapid City, Janice Roseanne Wieczorek of Rapid City, Joyce Leona Freeman and husband, Alan, of Sturgis, JoAnn Shirley Pople and husband, Kevin, of Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Jolene Wieczorek Springer and husband, Mark, of Rapid City; one sister, Gertrude Woehl of Rapid City; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on April 14, 1959; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services are set for 3 p.m. today at Atonement Lutheran Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Jon Mapa officiating.
Military rites will be provided by VFW Post 1273 of Rapid City. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before services.
Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery at Hillside on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Ella Jeremiason
BELLE FOURCHE — Ella Jeremiason, 89, Belle Fourche, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Belle Fourche Long Term Health Care Center.
Survivors include one brother, Floyd Mauch, Los Angeles, and three sisters, Ellen Smith and Jean Widdoss, both of Belle Fourche, and Erma Opitz, St. Onge.
Her husband, Arthur I. Jeremiason, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Steve
Olson officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Slope cemetery in Belle Fourche.
Bruce Warren Huxford
PIERRE — Bruce Warren Huxford, 53, Pierre and formerly of Hot Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Huxford, Pierre; two sons, Mike Huxford, Boulder, Colo., and Kevin Huxford, Vermillion; one daughter, Angela Huxford, Pierre; his mother, Florence Huxford, Hot Springs; and two brothers, Carl Huxford, Indiana, and Don Huxford, Rapid City.
Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Faith Lutheran Church in Pierre.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. MST Wednesday at Evergreen cemetery in Hot Springs.
Memorials may be made to Over Forte Big Band.
Charles Henry Peterson Jr.
DALLAS — Charles Henry Peterson Jr., Tatanka Witko, 58, Dallas and formerly of Veblen, S.D., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in Dallas.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Peterson, Dallas; six children, Jolene Black Lance and James Peterson, both of Rapid City, Charles Peterson III, Belgrade, Mont., Fredrick Peterson, Mission, S.D., Warren Peterson, Lower Brule, S.D., and Charles Austell, Lewisville; seven siblings, Joseph Petersen, Veblen, Floyd Beaudreau, Sisseton, S.D., Maynard Beaudreau and Mitch Lawrence, both of Peever, S.D., Wayne Lawrence, Winner, S.D., Janice Loney, Browns Valley, Minn., and Norma Lawrence, Hancock, Minn; and 10 grandchildren.
Two-night wake was Sunday and Monday, Dec. 16-17, at St. Catherine's Hall in Sisseton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the hall, with the Rev. Randy Oswald officiating.
Burial will be at St. Matthew's cemetery in Veblen.

Vincent Dewey Mesteth Jr.
RAPID CITY — Vincent Dewey Mesteth Jr., 57, Rapid City, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in Rapid City.
Survivors include five sons, Vincent Mesteth III, Michael Mesteth and Jeffrey Mesteth, all of Rapid City, Steven Mesteth, Sioux Falls, and Bo John Mesteth, Wanblee; four daughters, Sandra Pretty Bear, Jennifer Mesteth and Monica Night Chase, all of Rapid City, and Marisha Mesteth, Wanblee; one brother, William Mesteth, Mitchell; three sisters, Gloria Mesteth, Palm Springs, Calif., Roselyn Pacheco, St. Cloud, Minn., and Helen Guzman, Rapid City; and 10 grandchildren.
One-night wake begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Mother Butler Center in Rapid City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at the center, with the Rev. Pat McCorkle officiating.
Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic cemetery in Pine Ridge.

Zelma Nina LeBeau
RAPID CITY — Zelma Nina LeBeau, Nape Wakan Win, 78, Rapid City and formerly of Eagle Butte, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at home.
Survivors include three sons, Victor LeBeau, Tucson, Ariz., Jerome LeBeau, Rapid City, and Gerald LeBeau, Eagle Butte; one daughter, Theda White Cloud, Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Mildred Bridwell, Darlene Mestes and Toni LaPlante, all of Eagle Butte; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Theodore LeBeau, preceded her in death.
One-night wake begins at 7 p.m. MST Wednesday, Dec. 19, at HV Johnson Cultural Center in Eagle Butte.
Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Thursday, Dec. 20, at the center, with Deacon Ted Knife officiating.
Burial will be at LaPlante Catholic cemetery.

David R. Richards
SPEARFISH — Memorial services for David R. Richards, 82, Spearfish, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2001, at the United Church of Christ in Spearfish, with Rev. Mel Miller officiating. Dave passed away December 15, 2001.
Dave was born June 18, 1919, to David and Alice Richards, growing up in Newell and graduating from Newell High School. He attended the University of South Dakota and National School of Business, then joined the U.S. Navy nine days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. During his naval service, he belonged to a Naval Lighter Than Air Brigade in Brazil as a Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class. He married
Hazel L. Richman in San Francisco on September 5, 1942, and enjoyed a lifetime with her and their sons, Gary, Clayton and Doug. Upon discharge from the Navy in 1945, he joined his father's business in Newell, S.D. In 1953, he moved to Spencer, Iowa, as an Insurance District Manager. In 1954, he moved back to Spearfish, S.D., where he was in business with several partners and associates in real estate, insurance and banking until his retirement in 1979.
During his lifetime, he loved the many gatherings of family and friends, bowling, hunting, camping and fishing. Dave was also an avid rockhound and amateur jewelry maker, making jewelry for his family and friends. He always enjoyed the political sparring and debating that came with his involvement in community politics. He was an active part of community and public affairs, being a member of the United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Lodge, Lawrence County Commission, Spearfish Chamber of Commerce, Director of S.D. Hospital and Home Association, Black Hills and S.D. Board of Realtors, National Association of Real Estate Appraisers and the American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Richards and special friend Ardy Johnson of Spearfish, and Doug Richards and his wife, Lori, of Parker, S.D.; one sister, Elsie Bartholomew, Lake Placid, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Gweneth Richards of Rapid City, S.D.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
His parents; his wife, Hazel; one son, Clayton; an infant sister, Helen; and one brother, John, preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established to the National Psoriasis Foundation.
Inurnment will be at Rose Hill cemetery in Spearfish.

Bernard ‘Hobo' Patrick Twiss
PINE RIDGE — Bernard "Hobo" Patrick Twiss, 59, Pine Ridge, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 14, 2001, at Pine Ridge Hospital.
Bernard, known to most as Hobo, was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Pine Ridge, S.D. He was raised by Walter and Edith Martinez on a ranch in Kyle, S.D. Hobo began one of his many careers in the oil wells of Wyoming. From there, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served two years and traveled the world. Upon return to the States, Hobo began his successful and wild days as a bronc rider. He traveled the rodeo circuits and won many competitions. His passion took him throughout the Mid and Southwest. Although Hobo traveled throughout the country and the world, he loved the Southwest.
In June of 2001, he returned to South Dakota to live in the Slim Buttes area. Hobo was skilled in many arenas of life, whether they were construction, ranching, lineman, or loving father and cherished companion.
Hobo was a very charismatic and charming man who made friends with ease and longevity. Among those counted are his many, many cowboy partners.
Hobo is survived by daughters Tiffany Wolfe, San Diego, Calif., and Bernadette Rosane, Oregon; sisters Edith Twiss, Los Angeles, Calif., and Sherline Hernandez, San Bernardino, Calif.; four grandchildren; uncle, Walter Martinez; and significant other Carmen Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Twiss; mother, Eva Martinez; brother, Daryl "Corky" Twiss; and sisters, Julie Jane Twiss and Rachel Twiss.
He will be greatly missed by remaining aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and all remaining partners and friends.
One-night wake begins Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, with Fr. Andreas Leblang, S.J., as celebrant.
Interment will be at St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, Rockyford, S.D.
