Bobby Earl McMeans II, 31
Bobby Earl McMeans II, 31, of Huron died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at Mobile, Ala.
His memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Brian Grover officiating.
Bobby Earl McMeans II was born Aug. 10, 1973, to Bobby Earl and Beulah (Glover) McMeans at Church, Texas. He lived in Washington, D.C., since he was13 years old. He graduated from Gaithersburg, Md., and attended Shenandoah University and Montgomery College in Rockville, Md.
He played professional basketball in Spain and Australia and on the National Basketball Development League in Mobile. He moved to Huron last year and was studying for an appraiser’s license.
His mother died Jan. 27, 2005, in Mobile.
He is survived by his fiancée, Sara Gogolin of Huron; his father of Mobile; three sons, Bobby III of Virginia, Jailyn of Wisconsin, and Ethan of Maryland; a daughter, Jayden of Virginia; and a sister, Da’Na’ McMeans of Mobile.
Leonard “Lenny” Huether, 90
Leonard “Lenny” Huether, 90, of 470 21st St. S.W., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at the Huron Nursing Home.
His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Brian Grover officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be sent to the Congregational United Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kuhler Funeral Home.
George C. Zwanziger, 89
George C. Zwanziger, 89, of 1075 Fourth St. N.E., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at the Huron Nursing Home.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at American Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steven Brands-rud officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside cemetery with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church. The family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
George Clayton Zwanziger was born Feb. 4, 1916, to David and Edith (Cooper) Zwanziger at Carpenter. He graduated from Iroquois High School and entered the Army Jan. 29, 1936. He served in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters during World War II and was honorably discharged on Oct. 20, 1945.
On Feb. 18, 1947, he married
Alma Erickson at Sioux Falls. In 1946 he was employed with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in Huron. He retired in 1976 after 30 years. He and his wife spent 20 winters in Southern California in the Palm Springs area.
He was a member of American Lutheran Church, Fireman’s Union of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, William Reaves American Legion Post 7, Forrest McMullen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1776 and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He enjoyed playing shuffleboard, cards and dancing.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Larry (Kay) Zwanziger of Huron; a daughter, JoAnn Zwanziger of Palm Desert, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jeff (Cecile) Zwanziger and Jon (Marcia) Zwanziger, both of Huron, Joel (Becky) Zwanziger of Rapid City, Sherri (Daniel) Hamilton of Azusa, Calif., and Carrie Zwanziger of Glendora, Calif.; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur (Maxine) Zwanziger of Sioux Falls; and a sister, Hazel Cartner of Redfield.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Zwanziger; his parents; three brothers, Bud, Leonard and Howard; and two sisters, Gertrude and Mary.
Dorothy Noonan, 84
Dorothy Noonan, 84, of Pierre, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary’s Catholic cemetery in Highmore.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday at the Feigum-VanLith Funeral Home with a rosary at 8 p.m. at the Church
Dorothy Muree was born Sept. 24, 1920, to Stella (Durkin) and Bill Gallagher at their ranch near Stephan. She graduated from Mount Marty High School in Yankton and attended nurses’ training in Omaha, Neb. In February 1942 she married
Julian McDonald and they lived on a ranch north of Highmore. He died July 21, 1975.
She married
James Noonan on June 27, 1977, and he died October 16, 1981.
She was an active member of the S.D. Republicans and was appointed by 6 different governors to committees from 1970 through the 1990s. She was involved with Girls State, 25 years as a counselor, Catholic Daughters, March of Dimes and was a docent at the Cultural Heritage Center.
She is survived by three daughters, Suzan Hart of San Pedro, Calif.; Kathryn (Neil) Davis of Blunt; and Mary (Kent) Kass of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; a brother, Bill (Beverly) Gallagher of Stephan; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a niece.

Dale R. Green, 87
Dale R. Green, 87, of 750 Frank Ave. S.E., died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at the Huron Regional Med-ical Center.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday afternoon. The family will be present from 6-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Dale Roy Green was born Jan. 5, 1919, to George C. and Julia (Holzgraph) Green at Lewiston, Mont. The family moved to Mountain Grove, Mo., then to Newell, and in January 1925, they moved to Huron where he has since lived. He attended Huron schools, graduating from Huron High School in 1936. He also attended both Huron College and Northwest College of Commerce for a short period of time.
He was employed by the U.S. Weather Bureau from 1938 to 1951. He then joined his father and brother in the lumber business in Huron as George C. Green & Sons. He retired in January 1981.
He served with the South Dakota National Guard (Company C in Huron) from 1936 to 1937. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve on Dec. 8, 1941, and was called to active duty on Jan. 29, 1942. He served at Corpus Christi (Texas) Naval Air Station, Beeville (Texas) Air Station, Sand Point (Seattle) Weather Central, and aboard the carrier USS Siboney CVE 112 in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged as an Aerographers Mate First Class on Feb. 2, 1946.
On March 5, 1946, he married
Maxine D. Anderson.
He was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church in Huron, where he also served as chairman of both the official board and the administrative board, was a member of the church trustees, memorial committee, and building committee. His memberships also included the Huron Noon Lions Club, where he served as president and secretary, and chairman of the Sight Conservation committee for many years. He was awarded the Lions International Honor Roll Membership in 1982, and in 2006 was a 53-year member of the Huron Lions Club. In February 1994, he was inducted into the South Dakota Lions Hall of Fame and was made a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Club of South Dakota. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, life member of both the William Reaves American Legion Post No. 7 and the Forrest McMullen VFW Post No. 1776, and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Huron; a son, Keith (Sandy) Green of Aberdeen; a granddaughter, Melissa Green of Fort Meyers Beach, Fla.; four stepgrandchildren, Casey (Amanda) Thorstenson of Aberdeen, Jeromy (Dawn) Thorstenson of Aberdeen, Trenton Lunstrum of Aberdeen, and Trina (Steve) Volk of Vancouver, Wash.; three brothers, Donald (Lynn) Green of Huron, Claude (Marlys) Green of Yale, and Harold Green of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Marion Hatfield of Healdsburg, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wayne Green.

Arloween Gardner Dencavage, 89, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Rapid City.
Survivors include a son, Michael of Gold River, Calif., and a brother, Marvin Gardner of Sioux Falls.
Services were held March 10 at Black Hills National cemetery.

Sylvia Bergerson, 90, of Cedar Park, Texas, and formerly of Huron, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Hearthstone Health Center in Round Rock, Texas. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at American Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens cemetery.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening and Wednesday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Wednesday afternoon. The family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening. Pallbearers will be Ronald Simon, Rod Simon, Jason Simon, Stuart Simon, Bryan Simon and Kent Simon.
Russell Bacon, 102
Russell Bacon, 102, formerly of Northville, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Bethesda Home in Aberdeen.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He is survived by his wife Berlien Bacon of Aberdeen and two sons, Donald (Arlis) Bacon of Northville and Jim (Georgia) Bacon of Custer.

Marlene Joyce Koch, 72
Marlene Joyce Koch, 72, of North Platte, Neb., died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at home.
Her funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in North Platte with the Rev. Amy Jo Hawley officiating.
Burial will be in Fort McPher-son National cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
Marlene Joyce Haigh was born Dec. 8, 1933, to Howard and Laura (Ferris) Haigh on a farm near Doland. She attended rural schools and graduated from Wessington High School. She attended the nursing program at Old Contonement and received a degree in practical nursing from Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn. She married
Marvin Skinner in 1952.
She married
Ivan Koch in June 1975 and they moved to North Platte. She worked in the special-care nursing field and for Lincoln County Juvenile Support Services.
She is survived by her husband; two children, Terry (Mark) Woods and Gregory Skinner Sr., all of North Platte; a sister, Marjorie Patridge of Roseville, Calif.; two brothers, Larry (Val) of Sioux Falls and Richard (Karen) of Wessington; a sister-in-law, Mary (Doug) Horn of Wolsey; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lester, Leeland and John; a foster brother, Wayne Knickerham; and a brother-in-law, Lowell Patridge.
Troy Crandall, 33
Troy Crandall, 33, of Redfield, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at home.
His funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield with the Revs. Tim Fugman and John Visconti officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home.
Troy Crandall was born Feb. 15, 1973, at Huron to Marcella and Roger Crandall. He grew up in the Redfield area and attended Redfield schools and received his diploma in 1991. He worked for 15 years at Jamz Night Club in Sioux Falls as a bartender before returning to Redfield in 2004. He worked at Terry’s lounge and was currently employed at Fegan Construction working on the new ethanol plant.
He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiling, hunting and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his parents, Marcie (Jim) Yungwirth of Redfield and Roger Crandall of Redfield; a brother, Darwin (Becky) Crandall of St. Bonifacius, Minn.; grandmother, Delores Tilbury of Huron; three stepbrothers, Joe (Steph) Yungwirth of Carmel, Ind., Dennis (Suzie) Yungwirth of Sioux Falls and Pat Yungwirth of Lennox; and two stepsisters, Autumn (Dave) Spletto of Watford, N.D., and Cindy Jungwirth of Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a stepgrandfather.
Scott Schwartz, 24
Scott Schwartz, 24, of 1030 15th S.W., died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Kuhler Funeral Home with the Rev. George Parmeter officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A memorial is being established at Farmers and Merchants Bank of Huron.
Scott Schwartz was born April 29, 1981, at Anaheim, Calif., to Jeff and Linda (Bouchie) Schwartz. He attended public schools in Anaheim. They moved to South Dakota in 1991. He lived in various group homes at Deadwood, Belle Fourche, Whitewood, Redfield and Huron. He had been a client at the Center for Independence for the past two and a half years. He enjoyed swimming, basketball and cars.
He is survived by his mother, Linda McCallister and friend, Marty Kimball, of Aberdeen; his father, Jeff (Theresa) of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Brian (Jenny) Schwartz of Rice, Minn., and Adam McCallister of Aberdeen; a sister, Brandy McCallister of Aberdeen; and grandparents, Gladys and Joe Schwartz of Huntington Beach and Arlen Bouchie of Fort Pierre.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Brenda Bouchie.
