Henry Robert Meyer
Conde -- The funeral for Henry Robert Meyer, 84, of Conde will be at 4 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Conde. The Rev. Richard Collman will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date in the Conde City cemetery. Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel of Groton is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service today at the church in Conde.
He died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at his residence.
Henry Robert Meyer was born Oct. 15, 1916, to Henry W. and Bessie (Taylor) Meyer in Mellette. He attended school in Conde and graduated in 1935.
He married
Darlene Knoll on July 10, 1947, in Conde. He worked as a bulk gas delivery man for many years and then as a clerk for NorthWestern Public Service.
He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Conde. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Community Civic Development Association.
His hobbies included woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of Conde; two sons, Doug (Junia) Meyer of Willow Lake and Kirk Meyer of Chandler, Ariz.; and one sister, Mary Engberg of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Casketbearers will be Arvin Taylor, Malcolm Knoll, Milton Knoll, Robert Engberg, Larry Knoll and Bruce Herman.
Esther Viola Miller
Yakima, Wash. -- Esther Viola Miller, 75, of Yakima and formerly of Eureka, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Yakima.
Her funeral was March 31 at Central Lutheran Church in Yakima.
Burial was in the Tahoma cemetery at Yakima. Keith and Keith Funeral Home of Yakima was in charge of arrangements.
Esther Viola Wolff was born May 28, 1925, to Fred and Eva Wolff in McPherson County. She was raised and educated in Eureka and graduated from the Chicago School of Nursing. In 1946 she moved to Yakima and worked at the Yakima County Hospital.
She married
Alfred E. Miller on Feb. 1, 1948, in Yakima. She had been employed at Yakima County Hospital, Memorial Hospital, the Osteopathic Hospital and by Dr. R.M. Stohl. She retired in 1974.
She was a longtime member of the Central Lutheran Church in Yakima and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center and the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her husband of Yakima; one son, Art (Terry) Miller of Walla Walla, Wash.; two daughters, Eva (Craig) Stickney of Yakima and Delpha (Alex) Otman of Bothell, Wash.; one brother, Erwin Wolff of Eureka; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Violet Katherine Wolff
Eureka -- The memorial service for Violet Katherine Wolff, 77, of Eureka will be at 3 p.m. today at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Eureka. The Rev. Dianne Rood-Kiesz will officiate.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka is in charge of arrangements.
She died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Violet Katherine Kusler was born Nov. 12, 1923, to Arthur and Lydia (Kammerer) Kusler near Eureka. She attended country school at Spring Creek No. 4 and helped on the family farm. She worked at the drug store in Eureka and Isaak's Variety Store.
She married
Clifford Wolff on March 2, 1945, in Eureka. They made their home on the Wolff family farm, where they farmed one and a half years. In October 1947 they moved to a farm nine miles northeast of Eureka in Spring Creek Township, where they raised livestock and small grains. She worked part-time at the Super Valu. She earned her General Education Diploma through Eureka High School in the mid-1980s. They retired from farming in 1987. She entered the Eureka Healthcare Center on Dec. 4, 2000.
She was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Women's Fellowship, the Eureka Hospital Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary of Soil Conservation and Eureka German Singers. She was a charter member of the Java Germans from Russia and a longtime member of the Eureka Senior Center.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts and making wedding cakes. She also liked gardening, animals and playing cards.
Survivors include her husband of Eureka; one daughter, Elaine (Dennis LaMont) Dodds of Slidell, La.; two sons, Ronald (Nancy) Wolff of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Keith (Mary Dvorak) Wolff of Chaska, Minn.; four brothers, Milbert Kusler of Eureka, Calvin Kusler of Lodi, Calif., the Rev. Howard Kusler of Waukesha, Wis., and Ralph Kusler of Aberdeen; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant sister.

Bernard Pischke
Waubay -- Mass of Christian burial for Bernard Pischke, 81, of Waubay will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay. The Rev. John Garvey will officiate.
Burial will be in the Waubay Catholic cemetery with military rites by the Brady Monson American Legion Post No. 129. Mohs Funeral Home of Webster is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7:30 tonight at the church.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home in Webster and from 6 to 8 tonight at the church in Waubay. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bernard Pischke was born Nov. 7, 1919, to Clement and Veronica (Snaza) Pischke in Grenville. After graduating from Grenville High School in 1937 he worked in St. Paul, Minn., before joining the U.S. Navy. He began serving in 1940 and was honorably discharged June 5, 1945.
He married
Frances Breske on Dec. 26, 1942, in Pensacola, Fla. He moved to Waubay and began Pischke Sheet Metal in 1947. He moved with his family to Casper, Wyo., to work for a sheet metal firm. He returned to Waubay after one year and in 1961 rebuilt his business near Blue Dog Lake. He purchased and developed property on Blue Dog Lake. He built, owned and operated Lakeview Drive-in on U.S. Highway 12 and retired in 1982.
He served as city councilman in Waubay and as commander for the Brady Monson American Legion Post No. 129. He was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay.
He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and loved trees. He was an avid reader and prolific carver of wildlife.
Survivors include his wife of Waubay; one daughter, Sharon (Larry) Eldeen of Redfield; five sons, Mike (Chris) Pischke of Bridgewater, Joel (Bonnie) Pischke of Spokane, Wash., Paul (Linda) Pischke of Louisville, Colo., Patrick (Elizabeth) Pischke of Osceola, Ark., and Charles (Theresa) Pischke of Corsica; one brother, Adam Pischke of Chicago; two sisters, Celia Miotke of Sublimity, Ore., and Anna Gruby of Sisseton; 10 grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Arthur Totzke
Groton -- The funeral for Arthur Totzke, 90, of Groton will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Groton.
Burial will be at a later date in the Union cemetery at Groton with military rites by the Groton Legion Post No. 39. Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
He died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton.
Arthur Harold Totzke was born Nov. 12, 1910, to Frank and Mary (Nefs) Totzke in rural Andover. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served overseas in Saipan for two years. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to South Dakota, living in the Andover/ Groton area.
He married
June Simonson in 1936. He worked as a bulk delivery driver for High Grade Oil Company for 32 years. He then worked for the city of Groton for 12 years. She died July 25, 1978.
He married
Jennie (Ness) Johnson on Aug. 15, 1982. She died July 1, 1998.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Groton, the Groton Senior Citizens and the American Legion.
He enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include two stepsons, Merton Johnson of Groton and Lyle Johnson of Houston; one stepdaughter, Arlys Zoellner of Manhattan, Kan.; six stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, seven sisters, two brothers, one stepson and one stepgranddaughter.
Casketbearers will be Loren Johnson, Neil Johnson, Rob Wanous, Wally Fischer, Bob Wegner and Merton Johnson.
Arthur Totzke
Groton -- A committal service for Arthur Totzke, 90, of Groton will be at noon today at the Groton Union cemetery.
Military rites will be provided by Groton American Legion Post No. 39.
There will also be Masonic rites.
Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton is in charge of arrangements.
He died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton.
Beulah Irene Bishop
Medford, Ore. -- Beulah Irene Bishop, 90, of Medford and formerly of Roscoe, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Providence Medford Medical Center.
A private service was held. Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives of Medford was in charge of arrangements.
Beulah Irene Huck was born Dec. 2, 1910, to Joseph and Inda Huck in Roscoe.
She married
Leone Bishop on Sept. 4, 1934, in Ipswich. He died in 1980. She moved to Medford in 1998 from Renton, Wash.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Medford.
She enjoyed quilting, square dancing and making jokes.
Survivors include one son, Roger Bishop of Medford; one daughter, Loris Hanks of Medford; one sister, Hazel Goodspeed of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one sister.

Lee E. Brownell
Henry -- Lee E. Brownell, 80, of Henry died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at a Watertown hospital.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Henry's Catholic Church in Henry. The Rev. Albert Cizewski will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Codington County American Legion Post No. 17. Wight and Fox Funeral Chapel in Watertown is in charge of arrangements.
Lee Eugene Brownell was born July 16, 1920, to Carl Eugene and Nettie (Monahan) Brownell in Henry.
He married
Elizabeth 'Betty' Conahan on July 12, 1944, in Hagerstown, Md. After military service, he was employed as a rural mail carrier.
Survivors include one daughter, Cecelia Brownell of Mounds View, Minn.; one son, Eugene (Julie) Brownell of Aberdeen; one sister, Gail Zwieg of Watertown; one brother, LaVerne Brownell of Watertown; and two grandsons.
Bernard E. Emery
Mina -- Bernard E. Emery, 52, of Mina died of natural causes on Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 W. Melgaard Road. The Rev. Guy Stone will officiate.
Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. in Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Norbert Bernhardt Huber
Zeeland, N.D. -- The funeral for Norbert Bernhardt Huber, 82, of Zeeland will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Venturia Baptist Church in Venturia, N.D. The Rev. Randy Tschetter will officiate.
Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran cemetery at Zeeland. Myers Funeral Home of Linton, N.D., is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home in Linton and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church in Venturia.
He died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
Norbert Bernhardt Huber was born May 21, 1918, to Gustav and Elizabeth (Ochsner) Huber on the family farm seven miles west of Zeeland. He attended the local rural school, where he received his elementary education. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps for a couple of years and had numerous jobs in Minnesota and Idaho. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Chanute Field, Ill. He was in search and rescue in Alaska until he was discharged, at which time he moved to Paul, Idaho.
He married
Gwen Martin on Feb. 18, 1948. She died in a car accident on Oct. 27, 1950. After several years he returned to North Dakota and became a salesman for Neo-Life and Na-chur.
Survivors include five sisters, Ruth Foley of Medford, Ore., Esther Bauer of Bismarck, N.D., Violet Reede and Bernese Levi, both of Zeeland, N.D., and Phyllis Halbert of Santa Paula, Calif.; and two brothers, Myron Huber of Eureka and Leo Huber of Zeeland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two sisters.
Casketbearers will be Gene Guttormson, Leroy Guttormson, Gary Huber, Clyde Huber, Jerry Levi and John Reede.
