Magdalena Glanzer

Willow Lake -- Magdalena Glanzer, 81, of Mayfield Colony near Vienna, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at her home.

Her funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Mayfield Colony.

Burial will be at the Mayfield Colony under the direction of Furness Funeral Home of Clark.

Magdalena Waldner was born Feb. 12, 1919, to Joseph and Susie (Kleinsasser) Waldner at Bon Homme Colony.

She married Fred Glanzer on Nov. 17, 1939, at Jamesville Colony near Utica. They moved to the Clark Colony in 1955 and then to the Mayfield Colony near Willow Lake in 1980. He died Dec. 28, 1997.

Survivors include four sons, Joseph Glanzer, the Rev. Eli (Betty) Glanzer, Leonard (Judy) Glanzer and Dave (Becky) Glanzer, all of Mayfield Colony; eight daughters, Lena (Leonard) Gross of Spring Creek Colony, Katie (Mike) Waldner and Eva (John) Waldner, both of Hillside Colony, Rachel (William) Wollman of Huron Colony, and Laura Glanzer, Marie Glanzer, Margaret Glanzer and Martha Glanzer, all of Mayfield Colony; three sisters, Rebecca Glanzer of Greenwood Colony, and Rachel Waldner and Dora Wiff, both of Spink Colony; two brothers, Elies Waldner and the Rev. Samuel Waldner, both of Newport Colony; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, two sisters, two brothers and one grandson.

Dean Cutler

Claremont -- The funeral for Dean Cutler, 78, of Claremont will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Claremont. The Rev. Wayne Tieszen will officiate.

Burial will be in the Union cemetery in Groton under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Groton and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church in Claremont.

He died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Dean Cutler was born April 11, 1922, to Homer and Grace (Snyder) Cutler in Brown County. He attended Claremont High School and graduated in 1940.

He married Geraldean Foster on Sept. 5, 1943, in Claremont. They made their home on a farm near Claremont. They lived in the Claremont area most of his life. He had spent the last few winters in Arizona.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Claremont, Methodist Men, and he acted as a lay minister for the church. He was an active 4-H leader for 20 years.

He enjoyed farming, airplanes and children.

Survivors include one son, Tim (Kelli) Cutler of Des Moines, Iowa; four daughters, Deanna (Gary) Junso of Sioux Falls, Debra Oleson of Yankton, Susan (Jerry) Corbin of Leesburg, Va., and Cheryl (Gregg) Meyer of Watertown, Wis.; four brothers, Wayne Cutler and Kay Cutler, both of Claremont, Val Cutler of Groton, and Gary Cutler of Aberdeen; one sister, Lorelii Odland of Claremont; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Shirley King of Sun City West, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son in infancy.

Leona B. Bauhs

Fairmont, Minn. -- The funeral for Leona B. Bauhs, 93, of Fairmont and formerly of Faulkton, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton. The Rev. Randy Phillips will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery in Faulkton under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

She died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.

Leona Bertha Hohn was born April 29, 1907, to John H. and Mary Ann (Bowar) Hohn in Ethan. She grew up and graduated from Ethan High School and received a teaching degree from Northern Normal and Industrial School in Aberdeen. She taught several years in rural schools near Faulkton.

She married Victor J. Bauhs on June 12, 1928. They made their home in Faulkton, where they owned and operated their own business. In 1963, they moved to Aberdeen until they retired. In 1982, they moved to Fairmont to be near their daughter Marilyn. He died in May 1988. She entered the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont in August 1993.

She was a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton, where she was the church organist and choir director for more than 30 years. She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen and had been a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont at the time of her death. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, was active in church circles, music clubs and the Delphian Study Group.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn (Kenneth) Rusch of Fairmont, and Shari (David) Boehnen of St. Paul, Minn.; two sons, Donald (Peg) Bauhs of Kenosha, Wis., and Robert (Darlene) Bauhs of Richmond, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, seven brothers, nine sisters, and two great-granddaughters.

Edwin A. Wiederrich

Portland, Ore. -- Edwin Arthur Wiederrich, 80, of Portland and formerly of Monango, N.D., died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Portland.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Gresham (Ore.) Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ron Keeling will officiate.

Burial will be in the Williamette National Park cemetery in Portland, with military rites.

Edwin A. Wiederrich was born Jan. 11, 1920, to Jacob and Theresia (Raugutt) Wiederrich at Monango. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received two purple hearts and a bronze star with three clusters for being wounded during military action. He was held as a prisoner of war for two weeks in Oran and Casserine Pass in North Africa. He was discharged in 1945.

He married Carol K. Johns on Dec. 7, 1944, in Arkansas.

He married Grace Eloise Armstrong on Nov. 3, 1972, in Portland. He was a retired home builder in the Portland area.

Survivors include his second wife of Portland; one son, David (Margaret) Wiederrich of Portland; one stepdaughter, Susan; one stepson, Bud Armstrong; one brother, Walter Wiederrich of Ellendale, N.D.; two sisters, Marie Vasvick of Ellendale and Edna Ernst of Aberdeen; two grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, four sisters and four brothers.

Audrey Emma Way

St. Anthony, Minn. -- Audrey Emma Way, 81, of St. Anthony and formerly of Cresbard, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in St. Anthony.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cresbard United Methodist Church.

Private family burial will be in the Cresbard cemetery.

Audrey Emma Miller was born April 10, 1919, to Samuel 'Hal' Harold and Mina Agnes (Paul) Miller on the family homestead near Cresbard. She graduated from Cresbard High School in 1937. She attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell and South Dakota State College in Brookings.

She married Wedell Earl Way on Aug. 25, 1940, at the Miller homestead. They were engaged in farming and International Harvester Corp. dealerships in the Cresbard and Wessington Springs communities. She also taught home economics part time at Cresbard High School. She organized and conducted a live radio program on KIJV, Huron, with taped interviews of pioneer and current news in Wessington Springs. She wrote local news and special articles for the Cresbard Beacon and Faulk County Record for many years.

She was actively involved in community services. She served on many advisory boards including senior citizens district and local, Community Health Nursing and county Extension services. She was an active member of the local Town and Country Extension Club for many years. She was active in the Methodist church. She was a leader for a youth group, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women, local and district. She devoted much time to the organization of the community museum housed in the DeVoe Methodist Church building, which was moved into Cresbard.

She enjoyed the Miller reunions that she helped organize.

Survivors include two daughters, Marvel (Dick) Washnok of Groton and Melinda (Terry) Way-Johnson of St. Anthony; one son, Harold (Joyce) Way of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Carol Demas of Lamar, Colo.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorials may be given to the Cresbard Methodist Church, 304 Bryant Ave., Cresbard, S.D. 57435.

Jule I. 'Scooter' Robertson

Frankfort -- Jule I. 'Scooter' Robertson, 75, of Frankfort died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. The Rev. Donald Barbalace will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery in Frankfort, with full military rites by Clay Kiser American Legion Post No. 92 and Paul A. Schleher Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2755. Thelen Funeral Home of Redfield is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Jule I. Robertson was born Feb. 7, 1925, to Albert Roy and Bessie (Buchanan) Robertson at Greenville, Ky. He moved to South Dakota with his family at the age of 5. He attended school in Frankfort and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Carol Christianson on June 25, 1947, in Redfield. They farmed in the Frankfort area until they moved into Frankfort in 1989. She died in 1993.

He married Vera 'Toby' M. Hilburn on Nov. 11, 1995, in Frankfort.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Frankfort, Frankfort City Council, Clay Kiser American Legion Post No. 92 and Paul A. Schleher VFW Post No. 2755 of Redfield.

He enjoyed farming, fishing and all sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of Frankfort; two sons, Terry (Linda) Robertson of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Lonnie (Lynett) Robertson of Blue Grass, Iowa; two daughters, Lynda Marzahn of Pierre and Sandra (Ken) Greeno of Sioux Falls; three stepsons, Randy Roy (Linda) Erickson and J.T. Hilburn, both of Anchorage, Alaska, and Billy G. (Debbie) Hilburn of Helena, Mont.; one stepdaughter, Molly Hilburn of Florence, Mont.; one brother, Roy Robertson of Frankfort; one half-brother, Gary Brunn of Redfield; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat- grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two brothers and one infant sister.

Casketbearers will be Chad Robertson, Jay Marzahn, Kurt Greeno, Nicholas Robertson, Andrew Schultz and Justin Robertson.

Walter Hehn

Pollock -- Walter Hehn, 80, of Pollock died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, N.D.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Floyd Haan will officiate.

Burial will be in the Spring Valley cemetery in Pollock, with military honors by the Pollock American Legion. Myers Funeral Home, Linton, N.D., is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday, all at the church.

Walter Hehn was born Jan. 18, 1920, to John and Christina (Kurtz) Hehn on a farm near Herreid. He was raised and educated in the Pollock area. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and the Aleutian Islands from 1941 to 1945. After his discharge, he returned to the Pollock area.

He married Alvena Kirschenmann on Feb. 10, 1946, at Pollock. He worked for the Kirschenmann Blacksmith Shop and for various farms in the area. He served as the custodian for the Pollock Public School for 38 years and retired in 1985. After his retirement, he worked part-time for the school and for Green Thumb.

He was a member of the Pollock Fire Department, the Walter West Post American Legion and the Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of Pollock; three sons, Dennis (Linda) Hehn of Long Beach, Calif., Michael (Kim) Hehn of Clear Lake and Bradley (Kathy) Hehn of Sioux Falls; one daughter, Barbara (Roy) Baggett of Murfreesboro, Texas; six brothers, Albert Hehn of Pollock, William Hehn of Topeka, Kan., Milbert Hehn of Hettinger, N.D., Harold Hehn of Sturgis, Raymond Hehn of Herreid and Eugene Hehn of Rockport, Texas; two sisters, Agnes Couch of Sacramento, Calif., and Deloris Wendland of Modesto, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Casketbearers will be Jason Hehn, Derrick Hehn, Ryan Hehn, Tim Sells, Michael Sells and Ron Gerhardt.

Minnie J. Harris

Sturgis -- Minnie J. Harris, 96, of Sturgis and formerly of Bristol, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at the Sturgis Long Term Care Center.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis. The Rev. James Olson will officiate.

Burial will be in Pine Lawn cemetery in Rapid City under the direction of Kinkade Funeral Chapel of Sturgis.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Minnie Sandal was born Sept. 3, 1903, to Ole and Anna Sandal in Bristol. She grew up northwest of Pierre near Moenville.

She married Claire 'Shorty' Harris on March 10, 1923, at Salem. They moved to Rapid City in 1941. In 1971, they moved to Sturgis. He died in 1975. For the past four years, she had been a resident of the Sturgis Community Long Term Care Center.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Grace Lutheran Church Women, Grace Lutheran Quilters, Women of the Moose, World War I Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary and other quilters clubs.

Survivors include four sons, Ivan (Maxine) Harris of El Cajon, Calif., Evan (Millie) Harris of Aberdeen, Ray (Deloris) Harris of Bowdle and Ralph (Billie) Harris of Mathis, Texas; two daughters, Donnie Mae Bender of Rapid City and Yvonnie (Ray) Radunz of Hutchinson, Minn.; one sister, Esther Curry of Pierre; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 1061 Sherman St., Sturgis, S.D. 57785.

Philomena Zakrzewski

Webster -- Mass of Christian burial for Philomena Zakrzewski, 86, of Webster will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville. The Rev. Paul Pathiyamoola will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery in Grenville under the direction of Mohs Funeral Home of Webster.

There will be a prayer service at 7:30 tonight at the church in Grenville.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home in Webster and will resume at 6 p.m. Friday at the church in Grenville.

She died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster.

Philomena Wika was born Sept. 24, 1913, to Peter and Valeria (Kwasniewski) Wika in Day County.

She married Theodore S. Zakrzewski on Sept. 21, 1937, at Grenville. She worked as a cook at the Grenville School and numerous other cooking jobs in the area. He died April 23, 1989. She continued to live in Grenville until 1995, when she moved into Webster. In 1997, she moved into the Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster, where she had resided until the time of her death.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and doing crafts.

Survivors include five sons, Arnold (Rose) Zakrzewski of Roslyn, Robert (Rita) Zakrzewski of Webster, Theodore (Sally) Zakrzewski of Thornton, Colo., Damian (Joanne) Zakrzewski of North St. Paul, Minn., and James (Theresa) Zakrzewski of Maplewood, Minn.; one daughter, Michaelene (Raymond) Williams of Fridley, Minn.; three sisters, Amanda Rumpza of New Richmond, Wis., Frances Boik of Dumfries, Va., and Florence Fleming of Florence; three brothers, Julius Wika and Godfrey Wika, both of Grenville, and Raymond Wika of St. Paul, Minn.; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, three brothers and three grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Douglas Zakrzewski, Ted Zakrzewski Jr., Craig Williams, Jimmy Zakrzewski Jr., Ray Zakrzewski and Justin Zakrzewski.
