William Michael ‘Bill' DePuglio
LINCOLN, Neb. — William Michael "Bill" DePuglio, 73, Lincoln and formerly of Sturgis, S.D., died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen DePuglio, Lincoln; one daughter, Pam Dippert, Lincoln; one son, Mike DePuglio, Cedar Falls, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
He served in the South Dakota Army National Guard, retiring in 1968.
Graveside services, with military honors by the National Guard, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. Gary Oreshoski officiating. Friends and family may gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis before going to the cemetery.
A memorial has been established to American Cancer Society.
Wayne Anderson Metcalf
AVON — Wayne Anderson Metcalf, 85, Avon, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at St. Michael's Hospital in Tyndall.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Metcalf, Avon; one daughter, Joyce Kurtz, Rapid City; one son, Robert Metcalf, Sioux Falls; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Weinhart, Escondido, Calif.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time, which will be at 3 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Avon.

Richard V. Albertus
WARSAW, Mo. — Richard V. Albertus, 90, Warsaw and formerly of Rapid City, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Albertus, Warsaw; one son, Jerry Albertus, Franktown, Colo.; one stepson, Mike Murray, Warsaw; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at First United Methodist Church of Warsaw.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Diana Loomis officiating. Burial will be at Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Rich Albertus Golf Memorial Fund, in care of Reser Funeral Home.
Leonard E. ‘Buck' High Wolf
PINE RIDGE — Leonard E. "Buck" High Wolf, Iyan Luta, 71, Pine Ridge, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, in Martin.
Survivors include one sister, Geraldine Janis, Pine Ridge, and two brothers, Raymond High Wolf, Topeka, Kan., and Charles High Wolf, Los Angeles.
One-night wake begins at 3 p.m. today at Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge.
Traditional ceremonies will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at Billy Mills Hall, with the Rev. Ben Tyon and Floyd Hand officiating.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Episcopal Cemetery in Pine Ridge.

Maxine J. Brown
RAPID CITY — Maxine J. Brown, 82, of Rapid City, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, in her home after a courageous battle with cancer, in the loving presence of her daughters.
She was born June 3, 1919, on a farm near Mott, North Dakota, to John and Effie (Runkel) Keill. She lived there for six years, then for three months at Hettinger, N.D., moving to Hot Springs in 1925 and then with her parents to Lead in 1934, where she graduated from high school in 1937. She moved to Rapid City in 1942 and has lived here since.
She was married to William S. "Bill" Brown from July 30, 1949, until his death on March 25, 1992. Their 43 years together spent on Spring Creek were the happiest years of her life.
She was a member of Let's Go Extension Club, Battle River Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 142 of Hermosa, Past Worthy Matron of O.E.S., Chapter member of ABWA and a Past President and Woman of the Year in 1988, and member of Altrusa International since 1989.
Maxine had a special love for her family and friends. She had a gift of hospitality and always had a cup of coffee and a cookie for her guests. Her favorite times were when all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were around her. She shared some very special moments and loving words with those who came to visit her in her last weeks and days. She had a gift for cooking, whether it be for family or large gatherings at church or her other organizations. She faced her cancer with great courage and was ready for the Lord to take her whenever He was ready. She not only taught us to live, but how to die. Her smile and wit and cookies and aprons will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia J. Childress of LaVerne, Calif., Gwen L. Ray and husband, Charley, and Billie Keough, all of Rapid City; son Jim Brown and wife, Nikki, of Westerville, Ohio; stepson Larry Brown and wife, Valerie, of Faith; stepdaughter Carol Hendrickson and husband, Chuck of Hermosa; her brother Maurice Keill of LaMesa, Calif.; her sister Roberta Watson of Bellevue, Neb.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, one sister, one stepbrother, granddaughter Terri (Johnson) Headrick and son-in-law Gary Keough.
Visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Services are set for Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Barb Gammater officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City at 3 p.m.
A memorial has been established.
Oglegla Wakan Hoof
WOUNDED KNEE — Oglegla Wakan Hoof, infant son of Aaron Hoof, Rapid City, and Angel Winters, Pine Ridge, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, in Rapid City.
Survivors include his parents; and two brothers, Jerome Bad Bear and Halin Hoof, both of Pine Ridge.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Fast Horse Creek Cemetery in Wounded Knee, with the Rev. Cecelia Spotted Bear officiating.

Theone Woodward
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — Theone Woodward, 82, Sierra Vista and formerly of Hot Springs, S.D., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Woodward Jr., Sierra Vista.
Arrangements are pending with Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel of Hot Springs.
Lester Ira Young Dog
KYLE — Lester Ira Young Dog, 60, Kyle, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, in Kyle.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Young Dog Sr., Oglala, and Carlin Red Blanket and Ricky Red Blanket, both of Wanblee; one daughter, Dora Young Dog, Kyle; two sisters, Nancy Rouillard, Boulder, Colo., and Virginia Irving, Denver; four brothers, Verdell Young Dog, Aurora, Colo., Seymour Young Dog, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Marvin Young Dog, Phoenix, and Myron Young Dog, Garryowen, Mont.; and four grandchildren.
Two-night wake begins at 2 p.m. today at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Kyle.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the church, with the Rev. Cordelia Red Owl officiating.
Burial will be at Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Yellow Bear Camp.

RAPID CITY — Ted L. Hoeye, 80, Rapid City, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Hoeye, Rapid City; three sons, Richard Hoeye, Montie Hoeye and Jim Hoeye, all of Rapid City; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.
Martha I. Pischke
HOT SPRINGS — Martha I. Pischke, 84, Hot Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at her home.
Survivors include three daughters, Judi Sigafoos and Amy Anderson, both of Hot Springs, and JoAnne Mayhew, Sheridan, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, with the Rev. Dana Brooks officiating.
Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel of Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established for Bethesda Lutheran School in Hot Springs.
Florence L. Danburg
RAPID CITY - Florence L. Danburg, 98, Rapid City, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at Westhills Village Health Care.
Florence married Elmer Danburg at St. Laurence, S.D., October 1921. They raised four daughters, Lorraine Schweppe of Eugene, Ore., Maxine Heffron of Rapid City, S.D., Marlene Gilbert of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Genevieve Rutherford, who preceded Florence in death. She has nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Florence and Elmer lived in Miller until 1942. They moved to Rapid City so Elmer could work in the war effort at the Rapid City Air Base, now Ellsworth Air Force Base.
Florence was active in the community doing volunteer work, charter member of Senior Citizens of Canyon Lake and AARP. She was a 73-year member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge, Rapid City, Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and Extension clubs of Hand County and Pennington County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2002, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Behrens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 11, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Behrens Funeral Home Chapel, with Steve Rhodes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to the Black Hills Children's Home of Rockerville, S.D.
Edward William 'Bud' Anderson
OELRICHS - Edward William "Bud" Anderson, 76, Oelrichs, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Anderson, Oelrichs; one son, Edward Anderson; one stepson, Howard Lawson, Johnson City, Texas; four stepdaughters, Harriet Winslow, Columbus, Neb., Hazel Thompson, Rapid City, Hedy Pennel, Hot Springs, and Heidi Miller, Yoder, Wyo.; one sister, Karen Smith, York, Neb.; 16 stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel in Hot Springs.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Oelrichs United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Oelrichs.
Alice Jane Stainbrook Potter
SPEARFISH - Alice Jane Stainbrook Potter, 83, Spearfish, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Dorsett Home in Spearfish.
Survivors include one son, Arlo Potter, Whitewood; three daughters, LaVonne LaLonde, Spearfish, Colleen Bennett, Sturgis, and Violet Potter, Rapid City; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Francis Earl Potter, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Sturgis Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with Glen Alt officiating.
Private family committal services will be at Whitewood Cemetery.
Goldie Beatrice Jurisch
SCENIC - Goldie Beatrice Jurisch, 94, of Scenic, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Home in New Underwood.
She was born on July 29, 1907, to Harry D. and Maude E. Crosmer at their homestead on Kube Table north of Scenic, S.D. She was the oldest of three daughters. In 1920, the family moved to Interior, where her parents owned the Hotel and Restaurant. In her youth, she played in a family band and later was organist at the Scenic Congregational Church. She also taught Sunday school, and was substitute teacher on Kube Table. Goldie married Clarence M. Jurisch in 1926 at Kadoka, S.D. They resided on her parents' homestead until 1955, raising three sons, Ernst D., Lewis L. and Marlow E. Jurisch. At that time, she moved to Scenic and was acting postmaster and received her commission as postmaster in 1961. She retired from her postmaster duties in 1977 at the age of 70. With the passing of her beloved husband in 1981, she had resided in Rapid City until 1989. She has since resided at the Good Samaritan Home in New Underwood.
Survivors include two sons, Lewis L. Jurisch, Springfield, Mo., and Marlow E. Jurisch, Rapid City; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry D. and Maude E. Crosmer; sisters EllaMae Fuller and Fern Johnson; son Ernst D. Jurisch; husband Clarence M. Jurisch; and great-grandsons Casey Jurisch, Joseph Daniel Searles and Gregory Jurisch.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, at the funeral home, with Rev. Charlie Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Scenic Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Scenic Cemetery Fund.
