A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) in St. George Catholic Cemetery, Scotland.

Emmett Rathgeber
COLERIDGE, Neb. -- Emmett Rathgeber, 86 of Coleridge, Neb., died Wednesday (Feb. 23, 2005) at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, Neb., with the Rev. Andreas Stein officiating. Burial is in Lawnridge Cemetery, Coleridge.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge. Visitation continues one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Rachel Rasmussen
OBERT, Neb. -- Rachel B. Rasmussen, 88, Obert, Neb., died Wednesday (Jan. 7, 2004) at Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel, Neb.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, Maskell, Neb., with PMA Susan Urbanec officiating. Burial is in the Obert Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Carl Hinz, Dave Heikes, Jason Hangman, Kory Barmore, Craig Gowery and Travis Dougherty.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today (Friday), with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, Neb. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church in Maskell.
Rachel was born Oct. 1, 1915, in Cedar County, Neb., to Edward and Anna (Gunderson) Gronlund. She grew up in the Obert area. Prior to her marriage, she did housecleaning in Obert and in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Harry P. Rasmussen Sept. 21, 1938, in Sioux City. They lived on a farm until they moved into Obert in 1980. For more than 26 years, she and Harry spent the winter months in Arizona and Texas. Her husband died June 5, 2003. She had been a resident of Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel since June 27, 2003.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Maskell, the Lutheran Ladies Aide and an Extension club. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, square dancing, bingo, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters: Judith (Stuart) Heikes, Obert; Sandra (Gordon) Hamilton, Obert; Sheryl (Odin) Hangman, Hartington; and Clarice (Lamont) Hangman, Laurel; 20 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Agnes Boss, Albert Lea, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, one son, a daughter, two grandsons, one great-granddaughter and two brothers.
Naomi Rasmussen
HARTINGTON, Neb. -- Naomi Rasmussen, 89, Hartington, Neb., died Monday (May 26, 2003) at the Pine Lane Assisted Living Center, Hartington.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational UCC, Hartington, with the Rev. Terry Buol officiating. Burial is in the Obert Cemetery, Obert, Neb.
Pallbearers are Rick Heikes, Rob Heikes, Randy Heikes, Ryan Heikes, Rodney Heikes, Derile Anderson and Darin Anderson.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
She was born Dec. 22, 1913, at Obert to Chris and Anna (Matsen) Nielsen. She grew up in Obert and graduated from Obert High School in 1932. She attended Wayne State College and graduated from Yankton College. She married Ransom Abraham Rasmussen Oct. 8, 1938, at Obert. She taught elementary school for many years in Obert, Newcastle, Neb., and St. Helena, Neb., while she and her husband lived on a farm south of Obert. She and her husband moved to Hartington in 1981. Her husband died Oct. 7, 1996. She had been a resident of Pine Lane Assisted Living in Hartington for several years.
She was a member of First Congregational UCC, Hartington.
She is survived by two daughters: Janice (Roger) Heikes, Hartington, and Diane (Jack) Moore, Newcastle; one son, Gary (Gayle) Rasmussen, Wahoo, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Violet Smith, South Sioux City, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two infant children, four brothers and one sister.
William K. "Kenny" Kelley
TYNDALL - Funeral services for William K. 'Kenny' Kelley will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Yankton, South Dakota. Clergy will be Pastor David Gunderson. Organist will be Phyllis Nielsen, and soloist will be Tara Kinsley.
Casketbearers are Bryant Burke, Vince Efta, Fred Frank, Jimmy Goglin, John Slama and Ron Wagner. Honorary Casketbearers are Jaime Muller and Glen Tycz.
Interment is in St. Leo's Cemetery, Tyndall, South Dakota.
Visitation is from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Goglin-Kelley Funeral Chapel, Tyndall, South Dakota.
William Kenneth "Kenny" Kelley, 58, of Tyndall, South Dakota, died March 5, 2005, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He was born February 12, 1947, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to William J. and Alverna B. (Lathrop) Kelley. He developed a life-long love of animals from helping on the family ranch at Gann Valley, South Dakota. Later the family moved to Kaylor, South Dakota, where his family operated Kelley's Bar. He attended Scotland High School in Scotland, South Dakota. As a youth, Kenny did various jobs including roustabout with a carnival, working with a harvesting crew and working as a ranch hand. He enjoyed seeing new places and meeting people.
In 1973, Kenny married Helen Magoon in Aurora, Colorado. While living in Colorado, he graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel, drove truck, worked as a machine maintenance man, and owned his own handmade jewelry business. He returned to South Dakota with his family in 1981, moving first to Kaylor then to Tyndall 1983. Kenny was affectionately known to many area residents as "Griswold" because of his elaborate Christmas displays. He loved to see the joy in children's eyes when they saw his "Christmas Wonderland." He was devoted to his daughters Lara Colleen and Krista Marie and found his greatest joy in being "Papa" to his two grandchildren.
Kenny's memory will be cherished by his wife Helen, Tyndall; daughters Lara Kelley, Tabor, and Krista (Curtis) Roth, Yankton; grandchildren Case and Kylie Roth, Yankton; mother Alverna Auch, Sioux Falls; two brothers: Mark (Jacquie) Kelley, Tucson, Arizona, and Mike Kelley, Houston, Texas; three sisters: Mary (Troy) Jones, Sioux Falls; Pat (Steve) Flett, Scotland; and Cathy (Tom) Winckler, Jackson Hole, Wyoming; two aunts: Vi and Audrey of Sioux Falls; a step-sister, Debb Davis, Yankton, and step-brother, Dan Auch, Sioux Falls; and several nieces and nephews, including a "special" niece, Pam Wright, Greenwood Village, Colorado.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, William J. Kelley.
Ruth V. Bauer
WINFIELD, Kan. -- Ruth V. Bauer, age 94, of Winfield, Kansas, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel in Winfield, Kansas. Inurnment will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Yankton Cemetery in Yankton, South Dakota. The family will greet friends at the cemetery in Yankton from 10:00 a.m. to service time and will also be going to lunch with those people who would like to join them.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.
Ruth was born June 2, 1910, in Geddes, South Dakota to Charles and Hattie Smith. She was raised and educated in the Geddes area, graduating from Geddes High School in 1928. She married Hugo Bauer November 11, 1933 in Yankton, South Dakota. Throughout their life, they lived in Yankton, Lake Andes and Springfield, South Dakota. She was a housewife raising two sons and worked as the college bookstore manager at Southern State Teachers College in Springfield. She also was a postal employee at Lake Andes and was co-owner of the Bauer Market in Springfield. While in Yankton, she was a secretary for Lawrence Welk at WNAX radio station. She moved to Winfield, Kansas in 1981 after the death of her husband to be near her family. She entered the Good Samaritan Facility in 1999. She had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield and Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and held numerous local and state offices.
Survivors include two sons and their spouses: Ron and Ardis Bauer of Winfield, Kansas, and Reverend Paul and Jo Ann Bauer of Lakeland, Florida; six grandchildren and their spouses: Kevin and Tanza Bauer, Kelly and Jennifer Bauer, Tammie and Mark Smith, Joel and Nichole Bauer, Paul Bauer Jr. and Jonathan Bauer; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo, on August 11, 1980; six brothers; one sister; and a great-grandson, Patrick.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton.

MECKLING -- Kenneth Scheid, 63 of Meckling died Tuesday (March 8, 2005) at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.
A Remembrance service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Hattie Weston-Topkok
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Hattie Weston-Topkok, 61, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Feb. 27, 2005, in Anchorage.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, March 10, 2005) at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, Wagner, with burial in the Holly Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, Greenwood.
Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home, Wagner, is in charge of local arrangements.
Mavis Hansen
WILLOW LAKE -- Mavis Hansen, 75, of Willow Lake died Monday (March 5, 2005) in a Bryant care center.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Vienna, with the Revs. Kris and Vickie Brown officiating. Private family burial is in Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery, Vienna.
Visitation is from 6:30-8 p.m. today (Thursday), with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the church in Vienna.
The Arne Funeral Home, Clark, is in charge of arrangements.
Marlin "Rick" Huntley
BOISE, Idaho -- Marlin James "Rick" Huntley, 55, of Boise, died March 3, 2005, at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center. Marlin was tragically taken from us by a hit and run driver on Oct. 5, 2004, at Cole Road and Ustick, which resulted in his death. The driver has not yet been found.
Marlin was born Nov. 30, 1949, in Denver, Colo., to Henry H. Huntley and Edna M. Huntley.
Marlin will be sorely missed by all who have known him. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Society of Idaho. There will be a family memorial gathering later in the spring at his favorite fishing spot.
When Marlin was 19 he married Dianna Warman and had a son, Richard Huntley. Beginning Dec. 14, 1972, Marlin served in the U.S. Navy for four years on a destroyer escort, the USS Brooke. Marlin worked most of his life in the plaster and stucco trade. In 1978, Marlin met and married Sue Wase; during their marriage they had two children, (Jake) Dustin and Sara Huntley. Marlin loved the outdoors. He went deer and elk hunting and camping and loved to go fishing at Celebration Park near Swan Falls.
Survivors include his three children: Richard, (Jake) Dustin and Sara, Boise; mother, Edna, Meridian; one sister, Linda (Gary), Meridian; four brothers: Roger (Marilyn), Yankton; Chuck (Elsie), Yankton; Ron (Shirley), Rapid City; and Steve, Boise.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry.
