RAPID CITY — Lois Jones, 98, Rapid City, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Westhills Village Health Care Center in Rapid City.
Survivors include one son, Walter "Bud" Jones, Rapid City; and one daughter, Barbara Eckert, Seal Beach, Calif.
Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Leroy G. Big Boy Jr.
PORTLAND, Ore. - Leroy G. Big Boy Jr., 30, Portland, died Monday, March 19, 2001, in Portland.
Survivors include his father, Leroy Big Boy Sr.; two daughters, Amanda Singer and Samantha Singer, both of Portland; and two sisters, Gayla Big Boy and Corrina Big Boy, both of Rosebud, S.D.
First-night wake begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle. Second- and third-night wake will be at Native American Church, Two Strike Community, Rosebud.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Native American Church, with the Rev. Barney Iron Shell officiating. Burial will be at Native American Church.
Sioux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Kent Mackey
PIERRE - Kent Mackey, 72, Pierre, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at home.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Mackey, Pierre; two daughters, Susan Young, Eugene, Ore., and Elizabeth Williams, Pierre; one son, David Mackey, Fort Pierre; and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Feigum Funeral Home in Pierre.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Pierre, with the Rev. Webster Two Hawk officiating.
Burial will be at noon Tuesday, March 27, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb.
Harlan E. Borszich
CUSTER - Harlan E. Borszich, 69, Custer, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Colonial Manor in Custer.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Borszich, Custer; two sons, Mark Borszich, Hickory, N.C., and Matt Borszich, Custer; three daughters, Maureen Wobig, Canova, Monica Mayer, Isabel, and Michalene Seeman, Gillette, Wyo.; three brothers, Bob Borszich, Gettysburg, Everette Borszich, South Port, N.C., and Tom Borszich, Valentine, Neb.; three sisters, Sister M. Helen, OSF, St. Francis, Camilla Keller, Bloomfield, N.M., and Bernadette Usera, Sturgis; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 25, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Custer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, at the church, with the Rev. John Heying officiating.
Burial will follow at Custer Cemetery.
Carol Marie Peterson
DEADWOOD - Carol Marie Peterson, 52, Deadwood, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Trinity Methodist Church in Lead, with the Rev. Gregory Kroger officiating.
Survivors include her life partner, Joey George, Deadwood; her mother, Marie Thompson, Lead; one son, Justin Hogen, Deadwood; one daughter, Misty Hogen, Deadwood; one brother, Derral Thompson, Virginia, Minn.; and one sister, Lois Culver, Sholow, Ariz.

Floyd Sharp
RAPID CITY - Floyd Sharp, 84, Rapid City, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter, Valera Gissen, Miami; two sons, Donald Sharp, Phoenix, and Dale Sharp, Denver; eight grandchildren; one sister, Noel Adams, Serenity, Ore.; and one brother, Walter Sharp, Chadron, Neb.
Arrangements are pending with Behrens Mortuary.
Dorothy M. Rasmussen
ALLIANCE, Neb. - Dorothy M. Rasmussen, 57, Alliance, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Garry Rasmussen, Alliance; one son, Garry Rasmussen Jr., Hemingford; one daughter, Susan Nollette, Alliance; three brothers, James Leydig, North Canton, Ohio, Robert Leydig, Everette, Pa., and Blair Leydig, Buffalo Mills, Pa.; one sister, Betty Ann Jordan, Buffalo Mills; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Rooks, Isburg, McColley's Chapels in Hot Springs.
Memorial services will be Monday morning, March 26, in Alliance. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Oral, S.D., with the Rev. David Anderson officiating.
Mary A. Moore
BELLE FOURCHE - Mary A. Moore, 88, Belle Fourche, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Tope, Belle Fourche, Norma Martin, Newell, and Nancy Vaudrin, Red Lake Falls, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 25, and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, March 26, at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, and one hour before services Monday at the church.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 26, at Belle Fourche United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche, with the Rev. Steve Olson officiating.
Burial will be at Pine Slope Cemetery.

Mary L. Johnson
RAPID CITY - Mary L. Johnson, 79, Rapid City, died at a Rapid City nursing home Thursday, March 22, 2001.
She was born Aug. 8, 1921, at Rhame, N.D., the daughter of Milton and Delia (McMorrow) Place. She grew up in the Rhame area and attended high school at Marmath, N.D., later attending Capitol Commercial College at Bismarck, N.D.
She was employed at the state Capitol in Bismarck, for a time, in the auditor's office. Mary was elected County Treasurer of Slope County, N.D., and served as treasurer from 1944 to 1946.
She married Darrell C. Johnson on March 5, 1946, in Rapid City. They resided in Hill City for a short time and then moved to Baker, Mont. While in Baker, she was employed by Montana-Dakota Utilities.
They moved to Bismarck, where she was employed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They lived in Billings, Mont., for a time, and she was employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
In 1955, they moved to Rapid City, and she was employed with the 5th Army, involved with the Minuteman Missile Program. She also was employed with SAC at Ellsworth Air Force Base.
Mary and her husband owned and operated LaPlace Ceramic and Jewelry Shop in Rapid City for 25 years. They also taught the art of ceramics.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a number of cousins, including Joane McGrorty, Minneapolis, and Beverly Jensen, Waterloo, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a twin sister in infancy.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 26, at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. William C. Hibbert officiating.
Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Gail L. Fritz
LAKE NORDEN - Funeral services for Mrs. Gregg (Gail) Fritz, 63, Lake Norden, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. The Rev. Greg Myrmoe will officiate. Mrs. Fritz passed away March 21, 2001, at her daughter's residence in Watertown, after an extended illness with cancer.
Burial will be later this spring in Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake. Active pallbearers will be Dal Lavin, Darwin Stoltenberg, Roger Prunty, Keith Shaver, Charles Sorenson, and Durwood Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Gail's grandchildren.
Visitation will precede services at the church. Music will be presented by Judy Oleson, organist, and Bruce Melby, soloist. A special arrangement of "Amazing Grace" will be played by the St. Paul's Hand Bell Quartet.
Gail was born on July 30, 1937, in Clear Lake, to Edmund, and Augusta (Wollmuth) Zischke. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1955. She attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis. She worked in Chicago as a teletype operator for the Santa Fe Railroad, then in Sioux Falls for the John Morrell Co. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time outdoors at Lake Poinsett with her family.
Gail married R. Gregg Fritz on March 15, 1958, in Brandt. She was a stay-at-home mom and actively assisted her husband in school business. She worked as a nurse's aide and a teacher's aide while living in Philip. She was always active in Extension Clubs and church groups. After moving to Clear Lake in 1978, she worked side by side with her husband operating Fritz Chevrolet-Olds until her retirement in January 2000.
Gail is survived by her husband; two sons, Randall and Kari of Red Wing, Minn., and Duke and Margit of Clear Lake; daughter, Carmen and Lynn Langerock of Watertown; mother Augusta
Zischke of Clear Lake; one brother, Norman and Mervetta of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sisters, Lola and Caryl Braaten and Wanda Zischke, all of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and son Bruce.
Robert Joel King
WHITEWOOD - Robert Joel King, 78, Whitewood, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sturgis.
Private services with burial at Black Hills National Cemetery were held.
Arrangements were with Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis.
William C. 'Bill' Gillespie
SONORA, Calif. - William C. "Bill" Gillespie, 78, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Sonora, Calif.
He was born Dec. 19, 1922, at Sturgis, S.D.
He graduated from Lead (S.D.) High School with the Class of 1940 and from the University of Washington in 1949, with a BA in Business Administration.
He served during WWII (1942-1945) as a navigator in the Army Air Corps, based in England, flying B24s.
He was a Certified Public Accountant and self-employed accounting consultant.
Bill was extremely active in all the communities where he lived. In his later years, he served as teacher, mentor and adviser to many individuals and organizations. An avid reader and bridge player, he also enjoyed playing golf and baseball.
He served as a member and officer of many community-based organizations. Among them were: Presbyterian Church (Deacon); Toastmasters; Tuolumne County Sheriff's Community Service Unit; Tuolumne County Chapter of the American Cancer Society; Tuolumne General Hospital Auxiliary; Dad's Club (President of Local Chapter and State Vice President of the California Council of Dad's Clubs); Little/Senior League Baseball (Manager and Coach); Boy Scouts of America (Webelo Leader); Women's Recovery Association (Board Member and President); San Mateo City Committee to study school problems and make recommendations for solutions (Member and Co-Chair); Son's in Retirement — 2 Branches (Big Sir); Newcomer's (Treasurer and President); Et Ceteras (Vice President and President); Area Agency on Aging (Area 12); Tuolumne County Commission on Aging; Sonora Senior Center; Board of Trustees, San Mateo City School District (President for 5 years).
He is survived by his wife, Liz, Sonora; daughter Susan and her husband, Mike, San Jose; son Jason and his wife, MaryEllen, San Luis Obispo; stepdaughters Fern, Truckee, Barbara and her husband, Jim, Mendocino, and Trish and her husband, Ken, Soulsbyville.
He is also survived by his ex-wife, Peggy Kinnaird; his brother Wayne and his wife, Lucille; nine grandchildren, Megan and Meredith, Laura and Chelsea, Keith and Casey, Leah, Todd and Carson; and five great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his mother and father, Raleigh and Sue Gillespie, and brother Dick, all of Lead.
No service is planned. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
