MANDERSON — First-night wake services for Cordelia R. Rowland, 65, Manderson, will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge.
Second-night wake services will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Wounded Knee District School in Manderson.
William J. 'Bill' Husband
BELLE FOURCHE — William J. "Bill" Husband, 60, Belle Fourche, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Constance Husband, Belle Fourche; two daughters, Kimberly Husband, Bloomington, Minn., and Lindsay Brown, Fargo, N.D.; his mother, Clar Marie Husband, Philip; one brother, Tom Husband, Philip; and two sisters, Joel Peterson, Faith, and Kathy Emerson, Cody, Wyo.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche, with the Rev. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Virginia Elizabeth Redmon
LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Virginia E. Redmon, 78, Lakewood, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, in Lakewood.
Virginia Elizabeth was born April 28, 1922, to Almina and George Wall in Rapid City.
She lived in Rapid City, Spearfish, S.D., and completed high school in Lead, S.D., in 1941. She graduated from Black Hills Teachers College.
She married Don Redmon on March 29, 1947.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Redmon, Lakewood; three daughters, Becky Lambert and Julie Plumlee, both of Lafayette, and Teri Hanson of Wheat Ridge; and one brother, George A. Wall of Colorado Springs.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Lakewood United Methodist Church.
Angeline E. Stover
RAPID CITY — Angeline E. Stover, 89, Rapid City, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at a local nursing home.
Survivors include her daughter, Patty Grimm of Rapid City; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be one hour before services, which will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City, with Dr. David Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Owanka.
Rooks and Kirk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pernia 'Polly' Wombacher
CUSTER — Pernia "Polly" Wombacher, 95, Custer, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Custer Community Hospital.
Arrangements are pending with Isburg-McColley's Chapels in Custer.
Rocky R. Anthony
BOX ELDER — Rocky R. Anthony, 46, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his son, Rocky C. Anthony, Minneapolis; one daughter, Katherine Anthony, Minneapolis; his mother, Thelma Anthony, Edgemont; three brothers, Joe Anthony, Seattle, Fred Anthony, Minneapolis, and Lyle Anthony, Olympia, Wash.; and four sisters, Clarice Goure, Rapid City, Georgina Anthony, Edgemont, and Tami Fogg and Julie Anthony, both of Cle Elum, Wash.
A one-night wake service will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Holy Rosary Mission Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, with the Rev. Bill Pauly, S.J., as celebrant. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Mission Catholic Cemetery in Pine Ridge.
Dorothy Elizabeth Barber
RAPID CITY — Dorothy Elizabeth Barber, 92, Rapid City, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at her home.
Survivors include three grandsons, Ray, Guy and David Mathews, all of California; one great-grandson; two nieces, Joy Melhoff and Betty Hovdenes, both of Sioux Falls; and a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Mathews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Campbell, Paula & Quinn Funeral Home in Rapid City, with the Rev. Peter Dahlberg officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.
Doris M. Jespersen
MOORCROFT, Wyo. — Doris M. Jespersen, 76, Moorcroft, Wyo., died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at her home.
Survivors include six sons, Robert Jespersen, Earl Jespersen, and Chris Jespersen, all of Moorcroft, Marland Jespersen, Valentine, Neb., Wynn Jespersen, Upton, and Norman Jespersen, Buffalo; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Moorcroft, with the Rev. Mary Jo Koehler officiating.
Burial will follow in Moorcroft Cemetery.
David N. Pfaff
ISABEL — David N. Pfaff, 58, Isabel, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Isabel.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Pfaff, Isabel; a daughter, Darla Pfaff, Isabel; a son Daryl Pfaff, Isabel; a brother, Bill Pfaff, Hanna, Alberta; and two sisters, Sylvia Petik, Keldron, and Arlene Stein, Isabel.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Isabel, with the Rev. David Schilling officiating.
Burial will be in Hillsview Cemetery under the direction of Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
Rachel B. Jansen
RAPID CITY — Rachel B. Jansen, 91, formerly of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at a Rapid City nursing home.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur (Bud) Jansen and Carl Jansen, both of Rapid City; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.
Gordon A. Larson
BERESFORD — Gordon A. Larson, 81, Beresford, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford.
Survivors include a son, Gerald Larson, Beresford; three daughters, Karen Isakson, Rapid City, Phyllis Sternquist, Centerville, and Claire Antonson, Beresford; three brothers, Clarence Larson, Beresford, Roger Larson, Rapid City, and Palmer Larson, Portland, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford.
Burial will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford.
Carmel J. Rietman
HOLLEY, N.Y. — Carmel J. Rietman, 77, Holley, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.
Survivors include her son, Arthur Rietman, North Carolina; a daughter, Diane Rietman, Rapid City; a brother, Joseph Petote, Fla.; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
A prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Merill-Grinnell Funeral Home in Holley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at St. Mary's Church in Holley.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Holley.
Esther Yankton
GORDON, Neb. — Esther Yankton, 86, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Gordon Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include three sons, Creighton Yankton, Kyle, Warren Yankton, Chadron, Neb., and Bryan Yankton, Gordon; two daughters, Debbie and Alberta Yankton, both of Gordon; and 25 grandchildren.
Prayer service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, S.D..
Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Rowland, Manderson; adopted son, Brian Rowland, Manderson; two adopted daughters, Janielle Rowland, Rapid City, and Tisha Gerry, Gillette, Wyo.; one brother, Kenneth Gray Grass, Wakpamni; one sister, Martha Iron Horse, Scottsbluff, Neb.; and four grandchildren.
A two-night wake service will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Wounded Knee District School in Manderson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, with the Rev. Melda Lambert and the Rev. Marlin Hunt officiating.
Burial will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery in Manderson.
John A. Starch
RAPID CITY — John A. Starch, 56, Rapid City, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at a Rapid City nursing home.
John was born April 23, 1944, in Aitkin, Minn., to Francis and Mary (Jasa) Starch. He graduated high school in 1962 at Hopkins, Minn. John also received a BA in English and history at Hamlin University in St. Paul, Minn., and an MA in history at the University of Delaware. He began working in Title Insurance in 1972 in New Jersey, then in Colorado Springs and Denver. John moved to Rapid City in 1975 and worked for First American Title Loans as a Title Examiner.
John fought a courageous battle with cancer. He received a bone marrow transplant in 1997 in Omaha, Neb., but cancer recurred in May 2000.
He was a longtime member of Hope Christian Reform Church in Rapid City, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship for 25 years and the Model Railroad Club.
John was an avid reader and historian; he loved the outdoors, nature, hiking and model railroading.
Survivors include one sister, Shirley Coil, and her husband, Erland, Outing, Minn.; one brother, Kenneth Starch, and his wife, Janet, Sun City, Ariz.; nieces, Dawn Kreuger, and her husband, Phil, Debbie Lindz, and her husband, Mark, both of Colorado Springs, and Diane Cole and her husband, Bryon, Kansas City, Kansas; nephews, Dan Starch and wife Molly, Colorado Springs, Gary Coil, Kenosha, Wis., and Bruce Coil, Seattle, Wash.; and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Hope Christian Reform Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Rand Van Osdol officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Grovland Cemetery, Minnetonka, Minn.
In lieu of flowers, John's family suggest memorials to Hope Christian Reform Church, 202 East Philadelphia St., Rapid City, SD 57701.
