Duane Herbert Ehresmann, 59
September 19, 1955 - January 28, 2015
Funeral services for Duane Ehresmann were held Feb. 2 at the Goglin Funeral Chapel in Tripp.
Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery, Tripp, with Goglin Funeral Home of Tripp in charge of arrangements.
Duane Herbert Ehresmann was born Monday, Sept. 19, 1955, to Herbert and Velda (Heibel) Ehresmann in Parkston. He was a truck driver most of his life, working for Bob Pietz Construction, Dave Gustufson Construction and Don Ward Construction of Rapid City.
He died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston. He attained the age of 59 years, four months and nine days.
He is survived by his mother, Velda Ehresmann; two aunts, Violet Ehresmann and Violet Peters; an uncle, Noel Ehresmann; and 19 cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Ehresmann; several aunts and uncles.

Lorn Melvin Scholten, 88
July 12, 1926 - January 28, 2015
Lorn Melvin Scholten, 88, died at Golden Living Center in Armour, Jan. 28. Funeral services were Feb. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Grandview Reformed Church in Armour, with the Rev. Gary Maas officiating. Music was provided by the congregation and Carla Jelsma, organist. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Visitation was Feb. 1 from 2 p.m. to - 5 p.m. at Grandview Reformed Church in Armour, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Arrangements were by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.
Casketbearers were Ted Tornow, Don Baier, Troy Rus, Ryan Warnke, Jay DeWaard and Mark Vander Werff.
Lorn Melvin Scholten was born July 12, 1926, on the family farm in Douglas County, to Edward J. and Jennie Mae (Meyer) Scholten. He attended country school through the eighth grade and started farming when he was 12. He continued to farm for the rest of his life. On Sept. 26, 1947, he married Ruth J. Winner in Corsica. He was a baptized member of Grandview Reformed Church in Armour, where he was elder and deacon for many years. He was supervisor on Valley Township Board and Douglas County Country School Board. He enjoyed buying and operating John Deere Equipment and watching the Minnesota Twins baseball on TV.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth, Armour; daughter, Karen (Terry) Kovar, Sioux Falls; son, Alan (Judy) Scholten, Armour; grandchildren, Alissa (Ted) Tornow and their daughter, Autumn Grace, Armour, Kayla (fiance, Ryan Warnke) Scholten, Sheldon, Iowa, and Haley Scholten, Mitchell; and a sister, Geraldine Rus, Pierre.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Lyle

Mary (Splonskowski) Imberi, 93
October 26, 1921 - February 4, 2015
Mass of Christian burial for Mary Imberi was held Feb. 9 at Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Cliff Jacobson officiating.
Mary was born Oct. 26, 1921, to George Kannenman and Amelia Splonskowski in Hillsview.
She married Frank S. Imberi Sept. 5, 1938, in Hillsview. The two farmed near Hosmer for five years, then moved to Hoven. In Hoven, she worked for the Hoven Hospital cleaning. Later in life, they moved to Parkston, where she worked in the nursing home and hospital. Frank passed away Dec. 3, 2003.
She died Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, Wyo. She attained the age of 93 years.
She is survived by her five children, Janice Arbach, Gillette, Wyo., Leo (Fay) Imberi, Bellgrade, Mont., Donald (Ruth) Imberi, Deerwood, Minn., Anne (Arlen) Moke, Mitchell, and Paul (Tammy) Imberi, Ocala, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters, and her husband.

Arlo Arlen Bueber, 76
January 6, 1939 - February 3, 2015
Funeral services for Arlo Bueber were held Feb. 7 at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont, with the Rev. Brian Bucklew officiating. Andra Semmler will be organist. Special music will be provided by the Men’s Choir of Zion and Gracey Schatz, with Andra Semmler as the organist. Burial followed in the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Delmont, with military graveside rites provided by the Delmont American Legion and U.S. National Guard Funeral Honor Guard.
Arrangements were handled by the Goglin Funeral Home of Tripp.
Casketbearers were Doug Batterman, Dale Batterman, Jacob Batterman, Alan Bueber, Glenn Bueber, Jason McCarty, Jerrod McCarty and Darren Donnelson
Arlo Arlen Bueber was born Jan. 6, 1939, at home on the farm in Kaylor, the son of Helmuth and Leontina (Welk) Bueber. He attended country school until eighth grade, and then went to high school at Delmont. Following his graduation in 1958, he began farming with his family. On April 18, 1963, Arlo was drafted into the Army. He completed his basic training at Ft. Leonardwood, Mo., and was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. Since he was fluent in speaking German, he was sent to Germany for two weeks during the Vietnam war as an interpreter. When his time was finished in the military, he returned to Delmont to continue farming.
On March 18, 1972, Arlo married Sharon Meyer at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont. Together they farmed for many years, until selling the farm in 1988 and moving to Tripp. They purchased the Lunch Box Cafe, and he also worked at the Tripp Creamery and cheese plant. In 1995, he moved to Miller, where he worked for a farmer. He was the custodian at the Miller school. On Oct. 19, 2002, he married Lori (Hinckley) Batterman at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont. They made their home in Delmont.
He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder and was a part of the men’s choir. He also served as president for the dartball league. He was an active member of the Delmont American Legion for nearly 50 years and a member of the Twin Iron Association. Up until his accident, he was still working full-time at the Luxury 5 Cinema in Mitchell as a custodian.
He died Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Ambassador Healthcare in Lincoln, Neb., after battling injuries and paralysis he sustained due to a fall Aug. 21, 2014.
He is survived by his wife Lori Bueber, Delmont; two daughters, Amey (Tom) Schatz, Tripp, and Tina Bueber, Sioux Falls; two grand-daughters, Kennedy Schatz and Gracey Schatz, Tripp; one sister Sharon (Curtis) Tollin, Eldon, Mo.; two brothers, Leonard (Gigi) Bueber, Dallas, Tex., and Kenneth (Carol) Bueber, Burns, Wyo.; three stepchildren, Darci Gianfrancesco, Santa Ana, Calif., Dale Batterman, FonduLac, Wisc., and Doug Batterman, FonduLac, Wisc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Randy, infant son Randall, former wife Sharon, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Susan Ann (Rokusek) Beehler, 57
January 14, 1958 - February 11, 2015
Memorial mass for Susan “Sue” Ann Beehler was held Feb. 14 at St. George Catholic Church in Scotland.
Inurnment was in the St. George Catholic Cemetery in Scotland, with Goglin Funeral Home in Scotland in charge of arrangements.
Susan “Sue” Ann Beehler was born Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1958, to Harvey and Shirley (Dangel) Rokusek in Parkston. She graduated from Scotland High School in 1976 and went on to attend two years of college of Mitchell VoTech, where she earned her LPN degree.
On July 31, 1981, she was united in marriage to Kevin Beehler at St. George Catholic Church in Scotland. She served as a nurse most of her life, working at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall for 15 years and Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston for over 20 years.
She died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston. She attained the age of 57 years and 28 days.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Beehler, Delmont; two children, Scott Beehler, Iroquois, and Amanda Beehler, Rochester, Minn.; mother, Shirley Rokusek, Tripp; three brothers, Richard Rokusek, Norfolk, Neb., James (Jane) Rokusek, Watertown, and Paul (Barbara) Rokusek, Tripp; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Rokusek; father-in-law, Eugene Beehler, and mother-in-law, Leona Beehler.

Norma June (Leiferman) Paulson, 76
June 27, 1938 - February 7, 2015
Funeral services for Norma Paulson were held Feb. 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte, with Pastor Daniel Daum officiating. Music was furnished by the congregation, with MayLou Stanforth as organist.
Interment was at Platte City Cemetery. Honorary casketbearers were her 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Casketbearers were LeRoy Severson, Robert Westendorf, Levi Zobrist, Bradley G. Paulson II, Austin Severson and Gabe Baas.
Norman June (Leiferman) Paulson was born June 27, 1938, to Clarence and Coral (Hoffman) Leiferman at their home in rural Platte. She attended Castalia #3 (Beemer) School, Platte #1 (Summerville) School and graduated from Platte High School in 1957. She married Gerald Paulson Sept. 25, 1955, at the Academy Congregational church. They lived in Castalia Township and attended West Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aid. She participated in the Better Homes Extension Club of Charles Mix County for 30 years; belonged to Square Dancing Club; was a 4-H Leader for the Always Busy Jr. and River Rangers Clubs; was a founding member of local TOPS Club #0299; served as Charles Mix County 4-H Leader’s Association President, Vice President, Secretary, Reporter, and SD District Secretary; was Charles Mix County’s 1975 Homemaker of the Year; was the Charles Mix County delegate to Sioux City, Iowa; served as Secretary for the Women’s and Mixed Doubles bowling leagues; and was instrumental in the Horsemen’s Club and 4-H judging schools.
She was employed as Activities Director at the Good Samaritan Center in Wagner for 20 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte and the Wagner Lions club.
She died Feb. 7 at Avera Queen of Peace Health Services in Mitchell. She attained the age of 76 years.
She is survived by her three children: Cindi (Howard) Severson, Platte, Sonjia Zobrist, Detroit, Mich., and Brad Paulson (Beth Johnston), Steilacoom, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, LeRoy, Judy, Amy, Jennifer, Rob, Samantha, Olivia, Levi, Deena and Bradley; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Donna Leiferman, Minnesota; two nieces; a nephew; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Coral Leiferman; brother, Boyde Leiferman; grandson, Terry Severson; and infant niece and infant nephew.

Harriet (Waste) Cokens Huber, 85
November 19, 1929 - February 22, 2015
Funeral services for Harriet Cokens Huber were held March 7 at the Missionary Church in Freeman, with Stephen Rousso officiating.
Burial was in the Tripp Cemetery, with Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno, in charge of arrange-ments. Honorary casketbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the band, “Go Figure”. Casketbearers were Scott Neuberger, Joe Cokens, Daniel Benjamin, Josh Cokens, Jason Mehlhaff, Anthony Cokens, Brian Mehlhaff and Charles Pekas.
Harriet Jean Waste was born Nov. 19, 1929, to Ruth Ruedy and Harry Waste in Burlington, Iowa. She graduated from Burlington High School and Burlington Jr. College. She worked most of her life in the newspaper business with her husband, George Cokens, Sr., owning and operating the Tripp Ledger and starting The Area Wide Shopper. After Goerge died in 1981, she moved to Freeman and cooked at The Cornerstone for many years. After the Cornerstone, she started babysitting in the Freeman area.
She belonged to the Yankton Area Sweet Adelines for several years.
She moved into the Freeman Nursing Home Nov. 1, 2010, where she resided until her death.
She died Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Oakview Terrace Nursing Home in Freeman. She attained the age of 85 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Tamara (Robbie) Mutchelknaus, Connie (Jason) Luke, Freeman, Ruth (Wayne) Newcomb, Ruidoso, N.M.; sons, George (Monica) Cokens, Menno, Harry Cokens and Robyn, Norfolk, Neb.; son-in-law, Tracy Hampson, Hillsboro, N.D.; grandchildren: Scott Neuberger and Jenny, Tina Neuberger, Brandie (Dev) Malmlov, Miranda (Jason) Stach, Daniel (Tammy) Benjamin, Deana Benjamin and Ethan, Kristina (Troy) Williams, Lindsay (Alan) Tuschen, Kristi (Mike) burke, Joe Cokens, Kayla (Jason) Barnable, Josh Cokens and Casey Anthony Cokens, Melanie and Justin, Becky and Barney, Christy and Jonathon, Jason (Justice) Mehlhaff, Brian (Tracey) Mehlhaff, Tiffany Mehlhaff and Brandon, Lynette Kaufman and Jay, Jennifer Pekas and Joe, Amber Pekas and Charles Pekas; great-grandchildren, Jessen and Jenny, Samantha, Darian, Shelby, Madeline, Raegan, Daniel, Ian, Syndey, Ashlyn, Tyce, Teagan, Trelyn, Riley, Silas, Emma, Hadleigh, Kenzie, Lincoln, Klaire, Jevin, Braxton, Draydon, Jacob, Damian, Isaac, Darrica, Jayda, Ethan, Eli, Asher, Alexis, Avery, Anthony; nephew, Gary (Barb) McVey; and a few other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; daughter, Stephanie Hampson; and a granddaughter, Kasey Jo Mutschelknaus.

William Juhnke, 81
January 9, 1934 - April 21, 2015
Funeral services for William Juhnke were held April 25 at Milltown UB Church in Milltown, with Lay Pastor Willmer G. Herr officiating. Music was furnished by the congregation and Ruth Buchmann, pianist.
Interment was in the Milltown City Cemetery with Walter Funeral Home, Freeman, in charge of arrangements. Honorary casketbearers were William Werning, Paul Luebke, Wayne Decker, Dennis Schutt, LeRoy Adams, LyDell Thomas, Steve Juhnke and nieces and nephews. Casketbearers were Maurice Bueber, David Guericke, Jim Muchmore, Jerry Triebwasser, Paul Juhnke and Wayne Juhnke.
William (Bill) Juhnke was born Jan. 9, 1934, in rural Emery, to Arnold and Frieda (Huber) Juhnke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Clayton. He went to German Sunday school for three years. He also attended Ethan UMC and Milltown United Brethren in Christ Church.
He went to rural grade school, Highland #78. He attended Freeman High School and continued his education with college courses in agriculture.
He was briefly married to Eunice Weiss in 1955.
He served in the United States Army (1954-1956) PVT FC. He attended Microwave Radio School, then served nine months in Japan (Korean War). Later, he was in the National Guard, SPC-3. He was married to Jeannene Adams from 1959 until her death in 1980.
He married Darlene Simmons in August 1981. He was a lifetime farmer, 4-H leader, township board member, on the church board at Ethan UMC and Milltown United Brethren Church. He worked at Fair Manufacturing for seven years.
He died Tuesday, April 21, at home. He attained the age of 81 years.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene, Milltown; children, Jean Marie Lemke, Paula (Scott) Brinkley, Indiana, and Barry (Kim), Milltown; granddaughters, Gina Mechtenberg (Matt Wagner), Annette Collins (Nickolas), Kayla Juhnke; grandson, Paul; and great-grandson, Karson; brothers, Bob (June) and Arnold (Linda); sisters, Irene (Don) Reeb and Gloria (Gene) Van Ackeren; brother-in-law, Darrell Simmons; sisters-in-law, Mavis Pribyl, Joan Simmons; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannene; brother, Bruce; sister-in-law, Nancy; and brothers-in-law, Art Dittman, Dale Simmons and Clinton Pribyl.

Melvin E. Hirsch, 80
November 20, 1934 - April 24, 2015
Funeral services for Melvin Hirsch were April 27 at the Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Burial was in Frieden’s Reformed Cemetery in Tripp.
Melvin E. Hirsch was born Nov. 20, 1934, at Tripp, in Hutchinson County to Reinhold and Beatha (Herr) Hirsch. He was baptized Feb. 7, 1935, and was confirmed April 10, 1949, in the Tripp Reformed Church. He grew up in Hutchinson County and attended rural country school Pathfinder #76 through the eighth grade.
He was a lifelong farmer and sold seed corn, helped various people with their farming as well as doing custom corn shelling.
After a severe heart attack in Sept. 2008, he entered Firesteel Health Care in Feb. 2009. He had been on Hospice care five times prior to this one.
He died Friday, April 24, at Firesteel Health Care Center under hospice.
He is survived by brothers, Kenneth (Irene) Hirsch, Yankton, and Maynard Hirsch, Mitchell; sister, Betty Bender, Tripp; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Jerry Bender, and sister-in-law, Audrey Hirsch.
