Betty J. Bentley
RAPID CITY - Betty J. Bentley, 73, Rapid City, died
Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, after an automobile accident at Mule Creek Junction, Wyo.
Betty was born
on April 28, 1927, in Miller. She lived in Hand County until high-school graduation in St. Lawrence. She attended Morningside College and later graduated from South Dakota State University at Brookings with a bachelor's degree. She was married
to Donald D. Bentley in Carmel, Calif., and moved to San Diego where she was a pioneer in local television broadcasting. Betty and Don later lived in Minneapolis, Chicago, Cody, Wyo., and Miles City, Mont.
In 1963, Betty and family moved to Glendale, Ariz., where Betty attended the American Institute for Foreign Trade. In 1965, Betty, her husband, Don, and their four children moved to The Republic of the Phillippines where Betty taught at the American School in Manila. Her international experience later included residence in Hong Kong, Northern Ireland, Tehran, Iran and London. She continued her teaching career at the Hong Kong International School and at The Tehran American School.
After her husband Don's death
in 1980, Betty relocated to Rapid City. Shortly after moving to the Black Hills, Betty became involved with the Girls' Club in Rapid City. This led to a long-term association with Youth and Family Services, where she enjoyed many successful years working in the Head Start program. She retired this year.
Betty also enjoyed her association with South Park United Church of Christ, where she was active with many youth programs.
She is survived by one sister, Genevieve (Whittington) Sloan, Spirit Lake, Iowa; four children, Jan Bentley -Graf, Phoenix, Bert Bentley, Singapore, Todd Bentley, Mesa, Ariz., and Chris Bentley, Fremont, Calif.; five grandchildren, Ryan, Tim and Christina, all of Rapid City, and Rosanna and Lisa, both of Fremont.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, husband Don, brother Ernest, her sister Fairibelle Whittington, and her sister Marie E. Corrin who also died
in the traffic accident.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14 at South Park United Church of Christ in Rapid City, with the Rev. Bruce Herrboldt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Betty and Don's names.
Behrens Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie L. Jumping Eagle
MANDERSON - Marjorie L. Jumping Eagle, 77, died
Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.
Survivors include one son, James Jumping Eagle, Roseville, Minn.; two daughters, Juanita Jumping Eagle, Manderson, and Jean Brewer, Pine Ridge; an adopted daughter, Betty Little Dog, Manderson; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Two-night wake services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at St. Agnes Church Hall in Manderson.
Mass of Christian burial
will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at St. Agnes Church Hall, with the Rev. Jim Ryan officiating.
Burial
will be at the Jumping Eagle Family Cemetery
in Manderson.

Marie E. Corrin
RAPID CITY - Marie Elizabeth Corrin, 84, Rapid City, died
Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, after an automobile accident at Mule Creek Junction, Wyo.
She was born
March 25, 1916, near Miller to George and Jessie (Carr) Whittington.
Marie married
George Corrin on April 21, 1935, at Presho.
They moved to Rapid City in 1944. Marie worked as an office typist for the County Extension office in Miller, the Register of Deeds office for Pennington County and First Federal Savings in Rapid City. She also helped her husband in his insurance business.
She was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church of Rapid City and was a 50-year member of the Double 6 Extension club. She was a volunteer with Red Cross and Hospice and a member of Canyon Lake Senior Citizens Center.
Since education was so very important to her, she provided scholarship funds for all her children and grandchildren.
Her love of music was shared with the community through her involvement with the church handbell and chancel choirs, senior dances and organ and piano accompaniment at churches and senior centers. She also enjoyed sharing her musical passion and talents with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Corrin and his wife, Roberta, Rapid City, and Denis Corrin, Bryant Pond, Maine; two daughters, Jana Faye and her good friend, Ray Stanton, Longmont, Colo; and (Georgia) Kay Larson and her husband, George, Holyoke, Colo. Grandchildren include Bob Corrin and Dan Corrin, Rapid City, Tanya Corrin, New York City, Laren Corrin, Portland, Maine, Greg Corrin, San Francisco, Denise Corrin, Bryant Pond, Laurie Faye, Dacono, Colo., Daren Faye, Longmont, Todd Posey, Rochester, N.Y., and Teri Chadbourne, Bethel, Maine. Great-grandchildren include Kimberly, Robbie, Lindsey, Jenna, Zachary, Tyler and Kaitlyn. She is also survived by one sister, Genevieve Sloan, Spirit Lake, Iowa.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, husband, George Corrin, sister, Fairibelle Whittington, and brother, Ernest G. Whittington. Her sister, Betty J. Bentley, also died
in the traffic accident.
Closed-casket visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at Behrens Mortuary, with family present to receive friends.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City, with Dr. David Miller officiating.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. C.S.T, Tuesday, Aug. 15, at G.A.R. Cemetery
in Miller, with the Rev. Brian Jones officiating.
A memorial has been established.
John William Whipple
RAPID CITY - John W. Whipple, 9, Rapid City, died
Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, as the result of an accident at his home.
John, also known as "John-John," was born
on Oct. 12, 1990, in Rapid City. His family moved to Huron in 1992 and returned to Rapid City in 1995.
He was an Honorary Honor Student at Knollwood Elementary and was a Knollwood Mighty Knight with many citizenship awards. He was involved with the Boys Club and horseback riding. He loved to collect Mickey Mouse and Pokemon things, loved to ride his bike and to go to the stock-car races.
He was friend and buddy to all that knew him, and he always had a smile on his face. Through his organ donation, his love for others will be passed on.
Sharing his life and love are his mother and stepfather, Debora and Dean Huffman, Rapid City; his father and stepmother, William J. and Linda Whipple, Highmore; three brothers, Dustin Larive, Michael Whipple and Steven Whipple, all of Rapid City; three stepbrothers, Paul Huffman, Rapid City, Lance Siver, DeSmet, and Brian Gallaher, Highmore; two stepsisters, Ashley Gallaher and Stephanie Whipple, both of Highmore; his maternal grandparents, Clifford and Linda Larive, Rapid City; his paternal grandparents, James and Adeline Whipple, Highmore; paternal stepgrandparents, Sherman and Sandy Huffman, Box Elder, Bess Webb, Rapid City, and Micheal and Brenda Knoll, Box Elder; several aunts and uncles, including Bobbie Jo Lewis, Robert Stahl, Mark and Babbit Huffman, Sara Knoll, Lorrin O'Connor, LaVonne White, Audie Huffman, Jeanette and Keith Graves, Peggy Ivy Stager, William (Bubba) and Sue Larive, James and Glenda Whipple, Tim and Judy Whipple and Janet Moser. His special friends, Jim and Berniece Quest, Randy and Lola Quest and family, Amy Todriff and family, Candi Maines and family, Sheri Knoll and boys, Jennifer Reza, Pat and Don Anderson and boys, Cathy Bankston and family, Cindy and Tracey Herren and family, and John Nelson; all friends in the neighborhood; and all of his cousins.
He was preceded in death
by his maternal grandparents, one cousin, two great aunts and one stepsister.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14 at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home with the Rev. Seena Thomson officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Gladys Fay Louchs Erickson
BOWMAN, N.D. - Gladys Fay Louchs Erickson, 92, Bowman, formerly of Sioux Falls, S.D., died
Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at St. Josephs Hospital in Dickinson, N.D.
Survivors include two sons, Merle Erickson, Reno, Nev., and Wayne Erickson, Carmichael, Calif.; five daughters, Clara Bohne, Rapid City, Ione Flatz, Bowman, Lois Schwartz, Reeder, Marie Nelson, Scranton, and Doris Fischer, Reno; two sisters, Harriet Lone, Sioux Falls, and Letha Wiles, Dell Rapids, S.D.; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, in Reeder, with the Rev. Galen Strand officiating.
Burial
will be in Mamre Lutheran Cemetery
in Reeder.

Florence Little Brave
PINE RIDGE - Florence Little Brave, 66, Pine Ridge, died
Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Pine Ridge Hospital.
Survivors include five sons, Frank Little Brave, Alex Running Hawk, Larry Running Hawk, Russell Running Hawk, and Troy Janis, all of Pine Ridge; four daughters, Mayonne Lakota, Tiffney Red Hawk, Trina Lakota, and Destiny Janis, all of Pine Ridge; one brother, Wilson Yellow Boy, Pine Ridge; two sisters, Abbie Yellow Boy, Pine Ridge, and Sophie Yellow Boy, Wolf Creek; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Two-night wake services will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Billy Mills Hall, with the Rev. Abraham Tobacco officiating.

will be at First Body of Jesus Christ Cemetery
in Pine Ridge.

LUCAS - Verma "Faye" Roggow, 76, Lucas, died
Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000 at Rosebud Country Care Center in Gregory.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Roggow, Gregory; two sons, Garry Roggow, Mills, Wyo., and Doug Roggow, Gregory; two daughters, Barbara Barber, Black Hawk, and Norma Hamling, Rapid City; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Lucas Baptist Church in Lucas with the Rev. Warner Mostad officiating.
Burial
will be at Lucas Cemetery
with arrangements by Kotrba Funeral Home in Gregory.
Pauline (Zorn) Yaeger
BELLE FOURCHE - Pauline (Zorn) Yaeger, 87, Belle Fourche, died
Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Belle Fourche Long Term Health Care Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Ross, Belle Fourche, and Barbara Franzen, Anchorage, Alaska; one son, William Phillip Yaeger, Littleton, Colo.; and 14 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14 at Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the Nisland Independent Community Church, with the Rev. Bob Reinsch officiating. Burial
