After serving as organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rapid City for six years, he completed a master of arts degree in worship at Luther Northwestern Seminary in St. Paul in 1992 and was rostered with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as an Associate in Ministry. After he and Jan returned to the Twin Cities, Rick was called to Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Paul, as minister of music, which was a special blessing to him.
He took great joy in participating in the worship life of these congregations through leading the vocal and handbell choirs, planning worship services, and teaching children about worship and music. Rick continued to have a vision for future worship, even as his active ministry drew to a close. Rick's contributions to the worship lives of these congregations he served were deeply appreciated and will be always remembered.
Soli Deo Gloria
Prior to his full-time involvement with church worship and music, Rick owned and operated a small cafe in Sioux Falls for three years.
