Funeral services for Carol Fuhrer, age 72, of Isabel will be at 10:30 AM MT on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Isabel Community Center. Pastor Maribeth Anderson will be officiating. Burial
will be in Hillsview Cemetery
under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be starting at 5 PM Sunday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the UCC church in Isabel. Carol passed away

Carol Ellen Fuhrer, daughter of Walter and Bernice (Peterson) Chase was born
Dec. 16, 1937, in Corson County, SD. She attended school in Firesteel and Isabel.
As a teenager she moved to Hermosa, SD, where she did child care for Earl and Coletta Ellwanger.
Later she returned to Isabel and worked at the B&B Café. During that time she began dating Frank Fuhrer. He became the love of her life and they were married
on June 22, 1957, in Timber Lake. They made their home in and near Isabel, where they continued to live the remainder of her life. She spent many years as a waitress in the local café.
Carol was a devoted homemaker. She and Frank raised two children as well as two nieces. Leann was born
Feb. 7, 1960, and Kevin was born
Dec. 30, 1961. Sheila joined the family in 1971 at the age of 5. Sharon joined the family in 1974 at the age of 14.
She was very active in the community. She was a member of the Liberty Belles Extension Club and the UCC Church of Isabel where she was involved in the Women's Fellowship and was currently serving as a Deaconess.
Carol passed away
quite suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital from complications of cancer at the age of 72.
She is survived by her husband Frank, her children Leann (Phil Jr.) Lindskov of Mobridge, Kevin (Rhonda) Fuhrer of Belle Fourche, Sharon (Mark) Hartl of Spearfish, and Sheila (Todd) Jones of Fort Pierre; grandchildren Lance Lindskov, Gail Lindskov, Morgan Fuhrer, Lan Fuhrer, Cody Hartl, Kelli Hartl, Tucker Jones and Tayler Jones; and great-grandchildren Chaseten Myer and Harper Baumann. She is also survived by four brothers--Wayne (Else) Chase of Rapid City; Jack (Sofia) Chase of Alamogordo, NM; Bob Chase of New Town ND; and Jerry (Carmen) Chase of Eagle Butte; four sisters--Jan (Bob) Linde of Custer, Betty Yuly of Sturgis, Gladys (Ervin) Knodel of Mobridge and Peg (Don) Waddell of Mobridge; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law and their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by an infant son Jody in 1958 and her parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the UCC Church of Isabel, the Isabel Senior Center or the Isabel Rodeo Association
Casketbearers will be Lance Lindskov, Cody Hartl, Jim Chase, Larry Ley, Linda Sieveke, Becky Loll, Sid Milliken, Bob Fuhrer, Craig Warner and Micki Hutchinson.
Honorary bearers will be Gail Lindskov, Kelli Hartl, Lan Fuhrer, Morgan Fuhrer, Tucker Jones, Tayler Jones, Harper Baumann, Chaseten Myers and all family and relatives.

Jean was born
to Mr. and Mrs. John P. Swanson on April 14, 1934 in Glenham, S.D. She had one brother Bernole Swanson. Her dad died
in 1936 and her mother remarried
Oscar Ochsner on April 17, 1939. Jean had one step sister Addison (Sheila) Dame of Mobridge and one step brother Dennis Ochsner of Beresford, SD. Jean lived on a farm east of Mobridge for several years. In the late forties they then moved into Mobridge. Jean graduated from High School in May of 1954. She married
Milton Roebuck on December 7, 1954 in Timber Lake. They had five children, Brenda Roebuck, of Sioux Falls, Arnold Roebuck of Glenham, Tracy (Roebuck) Goetz of Mobridge, John Roebuck of Huron, and Glen Roebuck of Huron.
In 1963 they moved to a farm by Sioux Falls and milked cows for 6 years. She then moved back to Mobridge and worked for the Eagle’s Club and The Moose Club.
Jean is survived by husband Milton Roebuck of Mobridge, five children Brenda Roebuck of Sioux Falls, Arnold (Patty) Roebuck of Glenham, Tracy (Jody) Goetz of Mobridge, John (Cheryl) Roebuck of Huron, and Glen (Ruth) Roebuck of Huron, one sister Sheila Dame of Mobridge, two sister-in-laws Betty Swanson of Mobridge and Sheryl Ochsner of Beresford, SD, 11 grandchildren, Jesse, Timmy, and Jason Roebuck, Jennifer Gorsuch, Jamie Fees, Jacob and James Roebuck, Amy, Teresa, and Dallas Roebuck, and Cody Holzer, and one Special Little Dog Buster.
She is preceded in death
by her parents, one brother Bernole, half brother Dennis, and one brother-in-law Addison (Spud) Dame.
Casketbearers will be Clayton Roebuck, Jesse Roebuck, Timmy Roebuck, James Roebuck, Claude Roebuck, and Buddy Roebuck.
Organist will be Diane Hintz.

Bertha Kusler
Funeral services for Bertha Kusler, age 98, of Bismarck and formerly of Mobridge will be at 11 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Mobridge. Burial
will be at the Artas Cemetery
under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. There will be a prayer service Saturday at 10 AM at the church. Mrs. Kusler passed away

Bertha Kusler was born
on June 24, 1911 to Henry and Christina (Miller) Kautz in Artas, SD. She grew up in Artas and attended school there. On January 1, 1934 she married
Eugene Kusler at Artas. They farmed near Artas till 1948 when they moved to Hosmer. They farmed there until 1958 when the moved to Mobridge. Bertha resided in Mobridge until Aug of 2002. At this time Bertha moved to Bismarck where she has since resided.
Bertha enjoyed her seven years in Bismarck, staying social and active making new friends and being involved with the Red Hatters.
Bertha was a member of the Mobridge Gray Ladies, Degree of Honor and Historical Society. She was also a member of church circles, Senior Citizens Center and volunteered at the Mobridge Nursing home until the age 90.
Bertha loved to cook and bake, often doing it for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a great love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an avid reader, master quilter and enjoyed a good game of cards and dominoes.
Bertha is survived by two daughters, Carol (Vern) Peterson of Bismarck and Mary (Darwin) Meyer of Pierre, three grandchildren, Beth (Jim) Hughes of Bismarck, John (Julie) Peterson of Aurora, OR, and Michelle (Jeff) Wright of Ft. Mohave, AZ, four great grandchildren, Caity and Andrew Hughes, and Ryan and Macy Wright, step great granddaughter, Jessica Bangs, two sisters, Adeline Sprenger of Bismarck and Verna Schutt of Rancho Cordova, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death
by her parents, her husband, Eugene in 1973, a daughter, Elaine, four brothers and two sisters.
Florence Jenson

January 2, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge.
Florence was born
July 10, 1918 at Courtenay, ND in Stutsman County, to Herman and Myra (Crandall) Nelson. She came to Mobridge with her family when she was a small child. She grew up in Mobridge and attended school here through the 8th grade. She then had to quit school and find work to help support her family.
On November 4, 1943 she married
Richard Jenson at Mobridge, SD. Following their marriage, they made there home in Mobridge. They owned and operated the NorthWest Hotel in Mobridge, until their retirement.
Throughout their marriage Florence was a loving wife and also was Richard’s eyes because Richard was blind. Along with caring for Richard, she also cared for Richard’s mother, her parents, and also for the elderly boarders at the hotel.
Florence playing in the Mobridge Citizens Kitchen Band which she loved to do. She was also a part of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Mobridge Senior Citizens. She was a resident of the Golden Living Center in December 2008. Florence enjoyed playing Bingo and Taichi at the Care Center.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay (Duane) Delzer of Mobridge, Virginia Rohl of Cleveland, OH, two brothers Alfred Nelson of Phoenix, AZ, and Loren Nelson of Denver, CO, sister Geraldine Moser of Apple Valley, CA, grandchildren Brad (Jerrie) Rohl, Heidi (Lance) Haverlock, Richard Rohl, Steven Rohl, Roger (Carrie) Jenson, Justin (Jeanne) Delzer, Ryan Delzer, and great grandchildren Kami Rohl, Cody Rohl, Levi Rohl, Sidney Rohl, Sedona Haverlock, Sienna Haverlock, and Hannah Jenson
She is preceded in death
by her husband Richard, sister Irene, brothers Herbert, Raymond, Albert, and her Loving Little Dog Spunky.
Honorary Bearers are All Her Grandchildren.

Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.
Mary Bohlander was born
on January 19, 1922 in Yoncalla, OR to Dare and Anna (Huntington) Kingery. She attended school in Yoncalla and graduated high school in 1940. Following graduation she moved to Portland, OR and attended beautician school.
On November 15, 1940 she married
Alfred Bohlander at a Methodist Parsonage in Eugene, OR. They made their home in Drain until 1941 when they moved to Seattle, WA. During their time in Seattle, Mary worked for the Boeing Company. They then moved to Tacoma, WA. While living in Tacoma, their daughter Judy was born
in 1944. In the spring of 1946 the family moved to Winchester Bay, OR. While living there their son, Bob was born
in 1947. In June of 1947 the family moved to a farm north of Glenham, which was originally the Olaf Nordstrom farm. Here they lived and enjoyed the independence of farm life for 32 years. In 1957 their son, Ben was born
and son, Joe was born
in 1963. They retired from farming in 1979 and moved into Mobridge where she has since resided.
Mary was a member of the Franklin extension club for many years, St. Peters Congregational Church, UCC Church in Mobridge, Hospital Auxiliary and the Mobridge Garden Club. She also won numerous awards at flower shows. Mary always had a garden full of vegetables and flowers. She would also help plant and take care of the flowers at the city park and the Klein Museum. Mary was a terrific cook always whistling and singing as she would make meals for her family to enjoy. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also looked forward to her trips to Oregon every couple of years to see her family.
Mary is survived by her sons, Bob (Shela) of Mobridge, Ben of Glenham and Joe of Littleton, CO; daughter, Judy (Bill) Jachim of Fairbanks, AK, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two sisters, Doris Means of Yoncalla, OR and Molly (Doug) Anderson of Glenham.
She is preceded in death
by her parents, her husband, Alfred in 2002, two brothers and one sister.
Honorary Bearers are Mary’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley Rose Bickel
1931 - 2009
A lifelong resident of West River South Dakota, Shirley Rose (Sears) Bickel passed away
Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge, SD, at the age of 78.
Shirley Rose Sears was born
on July 21, 1931 in Chamberlain, SD, the first of two daughters born
to John and Eva (McColley) Sears. Her early years were spent growing up on a ranch along the White River southeast of Belvidere, SD. She attended grade school and started high school in Belvidere. Shirley enjoyed a happy childhood as both a town kid and farm kid, as she and her mother and sister stayed in town during the week for school.
In 1946 her family moved from Belvidere to Spearfish and purchased the Valley Cafe. As a high schooler Shirley spent much of her time working for her parents and had many fond memories from the cafe, one of which was meeting Harry Bickel, Jr. Shirley graduated from Spearfish High School in the class of 1949.
Harry and Shirley were married
on June 4, 1949, and made their home on the Bickel Ranch north of Firesteel where Harry farmed and ranched with his father and brother. The ranch remained Shirley’s home for 60 years.
She and Harry had three children; Harry John (Jack) born
in 1950, Debra Dee born
in 1955, and Keith Alan born
in 1957. Shirley was a hard-working rancher’s wife, often fixing meals for work crews and assisting with day-to-day chores while raising kids.
Harry passed away
suddenly on July 20, 1987. Shirley continued to live on the home place where she was able to spend countless hours with her grandchildren. She always had time for them, whether it was to bake cookies, read books, tell stories, attend their activities, or simply let them make a mess. She thoroughly enjoyed being a doting grandma.
Her faith was very important to her, and she was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Firesteel and then the United Parish Church in Timber Lake. Shirley was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Timber Lake and Area Historical Society, often volunteering in the local museum.
Over the years Shirley enjoyed knitting and crocheting, bird watching, was an avid reader and a fan of Judge Judy. She liked playing any type of cards or board games and never left a crossword puzzle undone. She also loved traveling, especially taking roadtrips with Alice Meginness and visiting her beloved Black Hills and Belvidere.
As her health declined Shirley faced her struggles bravely. She greatly appreciated the care she received from West Winds Home Health that helped her to spend additional time at home, and from the staff at the Golden Living Center during her stay in Mobridge.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Jack (Judy) and Keith of Firesteel, daughter Debra (John) Meginness of Isabel; grandchildren Joy Meginness of Big Piney, WY, Kelly (Nick) Wendell of Brookings, Kasey Bickel of Sioux Falls, Sabra (Frank) Hahne of Trail City, Robin Bickel of Firesteel, and Sean Meginness of Isabel; great-granddaughter Amelia Wendell; sister Patricia (Gerry) Hazledine of Spearfish; nieces Linda Hazledine, Sandy (Jayme) Lowery, and Gail Bickel; nephews Mike (Cate) Hazledine and Edward Bickel II; and numerous great-nephews, nieces and cousins.
Shirley is preceded in death
by her husband Harry in 1987; her father John in 1957; her mother Eva in 1992; her father and mother-in-law, Harry, Sr. and Anna Bickel; brother-in-law Edward Bickel, Sr.; and infant nephew Lawrence Hazledine.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 10:30 a.m. MT on Monday, December 28, at the United Parish Church in Timber Lake with Pastor Maribeth Anderson officiating. Burial
will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery
under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. A family service will be held at the United Parish on Sunday, December 27 at 7:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Casketbearers are her six grandchildren and their spouses, Joy, Kelly, Kasey, Sabra, Robin, Sean, Nick and Frank.

Steven Lee
Visitation for Steven Lee, age 52, of McLaughlin will be from 1-5 PM on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. A time of sharing will be at 4 PM. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 2 PM at Horace Lutheran Church in Horace, ND. Visitation will be from 4-7 with a prayer service at 7 PM at the church on Monday. Steven passed away
on Tuesday from an accident at work in McLaughlin.
Steven James Lee was born
on March 18, 1957 to James and Joanne (Gunderson) Lee. He grew up on a farm outside of Fargo and attended West Fargo School. Steven graduated in 1975 from West Fargo and went on to NDSU for one year. Following school he started his career in Horace, ND where he worked at the elevator. During that time he married
Mary Olsgaard in West Fargo in June of 1977. Together they had one daughter, Jami. Steven had numerous jobs through North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota at various elevators, where he managed most of them. Steven settled in McLaughlin in August of 2000 and started working at the Wheat Growers Association.
Steven enjoyed his family, playing cards, and cruising on his 4-wheeler. He was the choir director in Horace. Steven sang and played the trumpet. He also played softball, darts, pool, fished, and ice fished.
Steven is survived by his daughter Jamie (Ryan) Hoffner of Bottineau, ND soon-to-be grandchild, parents James and Joanne Lee of Horace, ND, sisters Penny Lee of West Fargo, ND, Patty (Steve) Moser of Grand Forks, ND, and two nephews Brock and Evan Moser.
He is preceded in death
by is maternal and paternal grandparents.
Honorary casketbearers are all of his co-workers at the elevator.
Richard Glaser
Funeral services for Richard Gottlieb Glaser, 71, McLaughlin, SD will be 10:30 AM,MT, Tuesday, December 22 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in McLaughlin, Father Tony Grossenburg officiating. Burial
will be at the McLaughlin City Cemetery, under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday at 7:00 PM, MT at the church. Mr. Glaser passed away
on December 11, 2009 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge.
Richard was born
on September 23, 1938 to Emanuel Bernard (Happy) Glaser and Evelyn Marie Upham at the farm house southwest of McLaughlin where he lived until the time of his death. He graduated from McLaughlin High School in 1956.
Richard joined the Air Force and after an honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm. He married
Donna Louise Johnson in 1969. They continued to live on the family farm with their three boys. He never wanted to live anywhere else.
Richard served on the Farmers Union Elevator Board for 19 years and was on the West River Telephone Board of Directors for the past 17 years.
Rich loved farming and spending time on his tractors. He also enjoyed working with and just watching the cattle, especially the calves. Haying was his favorite time of year.
He had a love for being outdoors. He liked to fish but only if he was “catching”. He also enjoyed riding the 4-wheeler and always loved a good game of cards. Time spent with his beautiful grandchildren was one of the greatest joys of his life.
Rich was preceded in death
by his parents, a son, Brian Emanuel, a brother, Emanuel Bernard Jr., an infant sister, Mary Ann and infant brother, Marvin Eugene, his sister June Lavonne and her husband, Art Pastian.
He is survived by his wife, Louise (Johnson) Glaser, two sons, Pete (Yasuko Kojima) and their two daughters, Destiny and Zenna who live in South Carolina; Ken (Denise Buechler) one son, Chance and a daughter, Mercedes who live in Colorado; his sister Linda and husband,(Bill High), of Pe Ell, WA and several nephews and nieces.
