Robert Sicotte, 38
Robert Jay Sicotte died
Monday at his home.
Jay was the son of Patricia Sicotte and the late David O. Sicotte, and the grandson of the late Robert and Margaret Lemm. He was born
in Butte on March 13, 1962. He attended local schools and served in the Navy.
In addition to his mother, Patty Sicotte, he is survived by brothers, James Patrick Sicotte and Mark Raymond Sicotte, both of Belgrade; uncles and aunts, Robert and Marilyn Lemm of Helena, Howard and Shirley Lemm of Missoula, Arlene Park of Butte; nieces and nephews, David James Sicotte and Bridgette Sicotte, both of Butte, Jamie Sicotte of Helena, Samantha Sicotte of Belgrade; cousins, Mike and Jody Lemm, David Lemm, Robert Lemm III, Michelle Lemm and Allen, all of Helena, Kathy and Gregg Vick of Billings, Laurie and Dan Clouse of Missoula, Dan and Greta Lemm of Phoenix, and Howard Lemm Jr. of Missoula.
Jay was also preceded in death
by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Cindy Sicotte.
At his request cremation has taken place. Visitation for relatives and friends begins at noon Thursday in St. Ann's Church, followed by Liturgy of the Resurrection at 1 p.m. Burial
of the cremains will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

John Whitman, 88
John Holly Whitman, 88, died
Sunday.
He was born
July 22, 1911, to Jay and Nellie (Burnside) Whitman in Henry's Lake. He graduated from Manhattan High School. John married
Pearl Green on Nov. 1, 1934. They spent 65 years together.
They lived in West Yellowstone for many years. John was involved in the family gas station business, Whitman's Conoco, for 50 years.
In 1978, he retired and spent time doing what he loved: golfing, fishing, horse back riding and spending time with his family.
John and Pearl traveled to Las Vegas and St. George, Utah, for the winter, until his health no longer permitted it. In spring 1998, they moved to the Hillcrest Retirement Home, Bozeman.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl, Bozeman; son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Susie, West Yellowstone; daughter, Connie Flynn, Whitefish; brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Monte, West Yellowstone; sisters and brother-in-law, Edith, Bozeman, and Sally and John Riley of Crescent City, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by a brother, Francis; and daughter, Mildred.
Memorial Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the Community Protestant Church in West Yellowstone.

Philip Zipperian, 23
Philip Carter Zipperian died
Friday at home in Winston.
He was born
in Helena Oct. 27, 1976, to Mark and Kathy Jo (KJ) Zipperian. He attended elementary school in Clancy and graduated from Jefferson County High in Boulder.
He liked playing sports, especially football. He was a standout running back for the Jefferson High Panthers his senior year. Since graduation, he was a partner with his father, Mark, at Zipp's Tires in Townsend.
Philip had a great love for the outdoors -- hunting, hiking and camping were among his favorites. He was avid gun collector and had a vast knowledge of their history and how they operated.
Besides his parents, sur vivors include his sister, Tammy Zipperian, and brother, Shawn Zipperian, both of Clancy; wife, Jennifer (Vose) Zipperian, Townsend; grand parents, John and Sherry Zipperian, Clancy, and Leo C. Thomas, Helena; great-grand parents, John and Marjorie Zipperian of Orem, Utah; aunts and uncles include Ken and Debbie Zipperian, Gary and Cindy Zipperian of Clancy, Dan and Christie Zipperian of Townsend, Kenneth Thomas of Spokane; cousins include Eric and Missy Zipperian and their son, Kevin, Kristin, Wyatt, Brian and Drew Zipperian, all of Clancy, and Nate, Nichol and Casey, Alex, Dane and Shelby, all of Townsend.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday in the Hannaford Bible Church, at 830 N. Hannaford, Helena, with Rev. Ron Gohn officiating. Cremation has taken place.

Angeline Rubinstein, 61
Angeline Sophia Olson Rubinstein of Half Moon Bay, Calif., formerly of Bowman, N.D., died
Saturday from cancer.
Angie was born
June 2, 1939, in Anaconda to Ralph and Alvina Mary Musil Olson. She attended Anaconda High and Bowman High after moving to Bowman with her family at age 16. After moving to Seattle in 1957, she moved to San Francisco in 1959 where she met Larry Rubinstein; they were married
Nov. 15, 1967, in Reno, Nev. In 1968, they moved to Half Moon Bay where they raised their two daughters and Angie cared for neighbor children and many pets.
She belonged to Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church and enjoyed camping and traveling.
Her parents and sister, Lorraine Bishop, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Larry, Half Moon Bay; daughters, Diane Rubinstein, San Carlos, Calif., Debbie Rubinstein, Half Moon Bay; sister, Caroline (Roger) Woodley, Bowman; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Seth Bishop, Lynwood, Wash., Sid and Sandy Rubinstein, East Hartford, Conn.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman. The Rev. Jeff Zwack will officiate with burial
to follow in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Bowman. The wake is 7 p.m. Friday in Krebsbach Funeral Chapel, Bowman.
Donald Forbes, 84
Donald McLeod Forbes died
Monday in a Helena hospital.
Don was born
March 29, 1915, the oldest son of David and Nora Forbes. His earliest years were spent on the family homestead north of Avon -- property now owned by Jim Quigley. He grew up in Avon, attending grade school there and high school in Elliston. He went to work for George Davis about 1931, managing the George V. Davis General Merchandise store and doing the bookkeeping for the three Davis ranches. George turned the store over to him in 1968 and he and his family operated it as the D.M. Forbes General Merchandise store until they sold it in 1992. Don became a Christian in 1941 and was active in the organization of the Avon Community Church, serving as its treasurer from about 1967 until 1997. He was also treasurer of the Avon Cemetery
Association for many years.
Don married
Dorothy Hunt in 1956. He was a wonderful husband and father to their five children. Don loved to hunt and trap and after selling the store, devoted several years to trapping.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; and brother, Rodney Forbes.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; children and their spouses, Don Lochlen and Marla Forbes of Chester, Daniel and Mishell Forbes of Helena, Douglas and Aleta Forbes of Avon, Dale and Stephanie Forbes of Deer Lodge, Darla and Mike Christian of Vancouver, Wash.; brother, Gordon Forbes of Deer Lodge; sister, Norine Clayton of Billings; eight grandsons; six grand daughters; and many relatives and friends. They will miss him greatly, but are rejoicing that he is in his Father's eternal house, where they will meet again.
Public viewing is 9 a.m. Saturday followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. in the Avon Community Church. Burial
follows in the Avon Cemetery. Memorials: Avon Community Church, Avon Cemetery

Jack Keeley, 66
Edward ``Jack'' Keeley died
Wednesday morning in St. James Community Hospital.
Jack was born
Oct. 30, 1933, in Spokane, to Edward and Helen (Ronan) Keeley. The family moved to Butte where he attended Immaculate Conception Elementary and Boys' Central High School. He graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane in 1955 with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as a sales engineer for Westinghouse Corp., often traveling throughout the country as part of his training. He met his wife, Patricia Quinn, on one of these trips. They married
in 1961 and settled in Butte, where they reared four children, Ellen, Beth, Maura and John.
Jack was active in a variety of clubs and organizations, including the Butte Exchange Club and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was a charter member and longtime president of the Butte Multiple Sclerosis Society. He will be remembered with a smile for his annual raffle promising the winner ``a lovely afghan.'' During his later years, Jack spent much of his time cheering on the Butte Central Maroons, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Butte Copper Kings and the Boston Red Sox.
A real blessing in Jack's life was the support and company of his faithful friends and family. The love and care given by his brother, Tom, was especially appreciated and will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death
by his parents and nephew, Eddie Keeley.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; children and their spouses, Ellen and Duk Oh of Portland, Ore., Beth and Mark Munro of Brooklyn, N.Y., Maura and Steve Dunn of Seattle, and John and Mollie Keeley of Butte; grandson, Riley Oh; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jeri Keeley of Butte; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Joe Devlin of Bonner; many loving nieces and nephews across the country. Close friends and family in Butte and Boston will sadly miss him.
Visitation starts at 5 p.m. Sunday evening in Duggan Dolan Mortuary with vigil services at 6:30 p.m. Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated in Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Monday.

Jessie Lasich, 92
DILLON -- Jessie Lee Lasich died
Thursday morning in her Dillon home.
Jessie was born
Oct. 4. 1907, at New Rockford, N.D. She was the oldest of four children born
to Lee and Leone Violett. The family moved to Montana's Liberty County when she was small.
She attended Montana State Normal College in Dillon and also college in Havre. She taught six years before she was married
to Matt Lasich on May 23, 1934, at Butte; he died
in September 1989.
She and her husband enjoyed many social activities. They were members of the Old Fashioned Dancing Club for many years. She belonged to the Home Demonstration Club for many years and enjoyed the lessons presented at those meetings. She especially enjoyed gardening at her home.
Her brother, Willis, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her brother, Archie Violett of Chester; sister, Nellie Doornbos of Sheridan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the Brundage Funeral Home, Dillon.

Helen Sparks, 79
Helen M. Sparks of the Waterford died
Wednesday evening.
She was born
July 7, 1920, in Helena to Ray and Rosemary (McMasters) Watson, and came to Butte as a child in 1922. She attended local schools and Butte Business College.
Helen worked as a cashier and bookkeeper for the American and Rialto theaters. She was an instructor in occupational therapy at Galen State Hospital. She had also been an instructor for Nancy Taylor Charm and Modeling Schools, which she taught at Butte Business College, later becoming a co-owner of the college. She retired as a secretary for Butte High School.
She was an active volunteer for Paul Clark Home McDonald's Family Place and was a past president of Soroptimist International. She was past president of Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
Helen loved the last years she lived at the Waterford where she had many dear friends, both residents and staff alike. She was an elegant lady amidst elegant surroundings.
On Feb. 22, 1941, she married
Evan L. Roberts, who was killed in action in World War II. On Oct. 28, 1945, she married
Robert Sparks; he died
April 7, 1971.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Keeley of Butte; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Kathy Sparks of Bakersfield, Calif., Rob and Linda Sparks of Bigfork; granddaughter, Kelli Keeley of Missoula; sister and brother-in-law, Arloa and Don Demmons of Butte; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Betty Obertreis of San Diego; sisters-in-law, Lucy Watson of Florida, Carlene Watters of Oregon and Judy Sparks of Kentucky; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Coyne of Butte; numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request, cremation has taken place in Butte. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday at a time to be announced.

Kenneth Stone, 73
ANACONDA -- Kenneth Stone died
Tuesday.
He was born
Oct. 29, 1926, in Anaconda to Robert and Hazel Stone, long-time residents.
He attended local schools and served in the Army in World War II.
He worked at the Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway, Washoe Smelter, Berkeley Pit and Milwaukee Road. He lived the last 15 years in the Deer Lodge Valley.
He married
Karen Goodman; they later divorced.
Survivors include his sons, Rory Stone of Missoula, Jake Stone of Salt Lake City; daughters, Cindy (John) Carter of Helena, Barbara Carter of Alaska; seven grandchildren; brothers, Merle (Ida) Stone of Anaconda, Kenneth Stone of Deer Lodge, Howard (Micky) of Anaconda, Lester (Lori) Stone of Anaconda; sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Coeur d'Alene, Rose Vanderzwan of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Katherine Stone and Dorothy Stone.
He was preceded in death
by his brothers, Harold and Robert, and sister, Darlene Byford.
Services are 1 p.m. Sunday in St. Mary Catholic Church, 1700 Missoula Ave., Helena.
Frances Jackson, 72
In memoriam
Frances M. Jackson died
at her home in Santa Fe, N.M., on Monday after a prolonged illness.
She was born
on Dec. 16, 1926, in Philipsburg and was an educator in Montana. She completed her career as the principal of Mountain View Elementary School, Great Falls, in 1985.
She had been a resident of Santa Fe since her retirement and had endeared herself to many through her kindness and generosity. Frances will be missed by the many who knew and loved her.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services in Santa Fe are pending.

Bennie Duran, 82
In memoriam
Bennie Duran died
Thursday morning in a local nursing home.
Bennie was born
into a large family Aug. 2, 1917, in Raton, N.M. He married
Vera (Elvera) Vigil, worked in Santa Fe, N.M., and then moved to Butte to find employment with the Anaconda Co. and raise a large family.
While serving in World War II, he traveled to Belgium, France and Germany. He was at Omaha Beach and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
He started work for the Anaconda Co. in 1954, and retired 27 years later.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Vera (Vigil) Duran; siblings, Roy (Daniel) Duran, Clements Howell, Priscilla Grimaldo, Josephine Duran George and Rose Duran.
He is survived by sister, Emma Sanchez, and numerous children, grandchildren, and nephews, including Dick and Cecilia Sanchez of New Mexico and Rudy Sanchez of Albuquerque.
Survivors also include his children, Michael Anthony and Anna Duran of Atlanta, Ga., Ronald and Connie Duran of Seattle, Victor Duran of Butte, Ralph Duran of Pearl City, Hawaii, James Duran, Paul Duran and John Duran of Butte; daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Ken Dockter of Butte, Barbara and Dave Wischer of Olympia, Wash.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Travis Duran, Trent and Christina Duran, Suzette Duran, Marc Duran, Christopher Duran, Paul Michael Duran, Anna Caroline Duran, Dusty and David Duran, Jacob and Jesse Duran, Tyler and Quinn Dockter, Kayle and Andi SeGraves, Emily and Julianna Wischer and T.J. Duran.
Visitation starts after 5 p.m. Tuesday in Duggan Dolan Chapel with parish rosary services conducted at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Duggan Dolan Chapel with Mass of the Christian Burial
celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. A reception follows in the Knights of Columbus Hall.
Bennie was a good father and provider for his children.

Catherine Murphy, 82
Catherine Theresa Murphy, died
Thursday evening in Community Nursing Home.
She was born
in Livingston on Sept. 18, 1917, to John and Wilhelmine (Drescher) Hickson. She was the last of four children born
to this couple. Her father died
of Spanish Influenza when Catherine was barely two. Her remaining family moved to Anaconda to be near family. Her mother married
Joe Thiefenthaler and together they had three children. Her stepfather was a postal service worker and her mother was a homemaker.
After graduating from high school in Anaconda, she attended Montana Normal School in Dillon. She taught all eight grades at Southern Cross School for one year.
At this time she married
P.J. Murphy and remained his wife until his death
in 1980. They had three children. In 1959, they purchased a small grocery store they called P.J.'s Market. She ran the store until she retired in 1988.
Patrick J. Murphy, her oldest son, resides in Seattle. Maureen Howes, her daughter, married
Al Howes and has a son, James Howes, all of whom live in Seattle. Son Jerry Murphy is married
to Carol Murphy and they have one son, Connor Murphy. All three live in Anchorage, Alaska.
Friends may call to pay their respects in the Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home beginning today (Monday) at 4 p.m. The Parish Vigil Service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will begin in the Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. and proceed to St. Peter Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial
will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
