IRENE D. STANGL
Irene D. Stangl, 74, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 in the Beloit Memorial Hospital.
She was born December 8, 1933 in Hosmer, SD, the daughter of John and Bertha Weron Harty.
Survivors include her eight children, Joe (Mindy) Stangl of Beloit, WI, Beverly (Paul) Arnold of Rogers AR, Jerry Stangl of Beloit, WI, Larry (Teena) Stangl of Beloit, WI, Jessie (Karen) Stangl of Beloit, WI, Sandra (Mark) Peterson of Rockford, IL, Mark Stangl of Beloit, WI and Michael Stangl of Beloit, WI; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Jalby (Dick) Dunker of Aberdeen, SD; two brothers, Delbert (Mary) Harty of Aberdeen, SD and Andrew (Jan) Harty of Rockford, IL.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Ervin Harty, Leo Harty, Wilbur Harty and John Harty.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in the Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, SD. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Aberdeen, SD.

WILLIAM "BILL" W. PARSONS
The funeral service for William “Bill” W. Parsons, 54, Mina, will be 10:00am, Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home with Dr. Harold E. Salem officiating. Private burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Columbia, SD. Military honors by US Marine Corps. Bill died Sunday, at his home in Mina.
Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Friday at the funeral home.
William Wilson Parsons was born on April 6, 1954 at Denver, CO to Richard & Ethel (Schnell) Parsons. As a small child the family moved to Aberdeen where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1972. He then entered the US Marines, and served during Vietnam. He was Honorably discharged on July 2, 1976. He moved to Winner, SD where he was an officer, and later moved to Hot Springs where he was also an officer and coroner. He worked at dispatch in Rapid City. In 1994, he moved to Denver, CO where he worked for LaFarge until 2004.
On June 12, 1999 Bill married Lynda Wright at Littleton, CO. In 2004 they moved to Mina where Bill worked for GCC Consolidated Ready Mix.
Bill was a member of the local Union 9 and the National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially loved the outdoors and woodworking. Bill really loved his explorations with Westen.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, mother, family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard and maternal grandparents, Mary & Ben Schnell.
KAREN GROTE
Funeral service for Karen Grote, 54, Aberdeen will be at 11 am, Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Deb Grismer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside. Karen died Friday, May 23, 2008 at her home in Wadena, MN after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Tuesday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. with a prayer service at 7.
Karen Grote was born on March 27, 1954 at Aberdeen, SD to Clarence and Ruth (Birkeland) Grote. This is the area where she grew up and attended the Schaunaman school. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1972. She loved working on the farm with her father. She attended the Stewart School of Hairstyling. She worked for several factories in Aberdeen including, Control Data, RBE Electronics Corperation, Banner Engineering, APA Opics, Fiber Optic Devices and Magnetic Peripheral’s Inc. where she received many awards year after year for innovative thinking and performance.
Karen was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. She was a Cub Scout Leader, Auxillary for Rural Fire Department and a member of the Women of the Moose. She attended Faith Lutheran Church in Alaska where she volunteered as the bookkeeper. She loved crafts and hosted craft parties where she taught crafts to children. She especially loved her time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, holding sleep overs, playing cards, and taking them to movies.
Karen was a proud mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend to many.
Grateful for having shared Karen’s life are her daughter, Jacklyn (Brandon) Smith; daughter-in-law, Christie Luce; grandchildren, Cole Smith; Abrianna Smith; Shelby Luce; Kayla Luce; Ashley Luce; April Peterson; brother, Steven Grote, Portland, OR; sisters, Deborah (Ronald) Nelson, Aberdeen; Rita (Greg) Beck, Aberdeen; and Cheryl Goehring, Savage, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Shane Luce.
James G. KOST
The service for James G. Kost, 65, Aberdeen, will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Gary Wileman officiating. Burial will be at 2:45 PM at Eureka City Cemetery. James died Wednesday, May 21, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
Visitation will be from 1-6 PM, Monday with a prayer service at 6 PM at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen. Family will be present from 5-7 PM.
James G. Kost was born on July 1, 1942 in Steeter, ND, Stutsman County. He was raised on a farm in that area and then in Emmons County near the North and South Dakota State line where he finished grade school. He graduated from Herreid High School in 1961. He was confirmed in 1956 into the First Congregational Church in Herreid, SD.
Jim was employed by the Herreid Concrete Co. for thirty-nine years beginning while still in his teens on a part time basis and full time thereafter. He worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.
On March 24th of 1963 he married Violett (Vi) Kiesz of Eureka, SD and together they were active participants in business and volunteer services.
Jim was a member of the Herreid Volunteer Fire Department for twenty-five years and a member of the Volunteer Ambulance Crew and received his twenty-five year service pin in 1988. He was also a member of the Herreid Jaycee’s. Jim and Vi owned and operated the Herreid Clothing Store from 1974 to 1988. In 1997, Jim and Vi moved to Aberdeen, SD where he went to work for Lien Transportation, as a truck driver, heavy equipment and crusher operator. He continued to work there until becoming ill in February of 2008. He enjoyed his work and hoped to go back after getting well.
He adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. He attended as many of the activities and sporting events that the children and grandchildren participated in, sometimes traveling several hundred miles. Jim made friends easily with his genuine caring personality and smile. He will be missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers, and friends.
Grateful for having shared Jim’s life are his wife, Vi; their children, Todd (Sandy) Kost, Sioux Falls, SD; Candice Dykema, Aberdeen; grandchildren: Chandler & Austin Kost, Brittany, Chase, & Taylor Dykema; brother Curt (Joyce) Kost, Watertown; and sister, Sally (Jim) Barthell, Duncan, OK.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Christ & Christine Kost, Herreid.
CLARENCE K. ROSE
A celebration of life for Clarence K. Rose, 84, Aberdeen, will be at 10:00am, Saturday, May 24, 2008 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Brian Idt officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Clarence died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at his home in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Friday, with family present from 5-7pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St.
Clarence Rose was born to Bernhardt & Catherine (Marko) Rose on February 29, 1924; in Westport, SD. Clarence attended and graduated from school at Westport, SD.
He met his wife, Delpha Dunwoody, at school. They were married sixty years. Delpha passed away in May of 2004. Clarence farmed for a few years with his dad, then moved to Aberdeen, where he worked for Socony (Mobil Oil). In 1957 they were transferred to Minneapolis for two years, then moved back to Aberdeen in 1959, where he became branch manager at Sherwin Williams Store for twenty years, retiring in 1980. Clarence then worked at Coast to Coast Store in Aberdeen until their closing in 1992. After that he continued to work at Country General and officially retired in 2000.
Clarence loved to have coffee, visit, tell jokes and stories with his friends.
Grateful for having shared Clarence’s life are his son, Richard (Rosemary) Rose, Minneapolis, MN; granddaughter, Brigette Rose; daughter, Cathy Robinson, Aberdeen; grandchildren, Kenneth & Jamie Robinson; son, Jeffery (Irene) Rose, Plymouth, MN; grandchildren, Sydney & Hayden Rose; daughter, Lisa Rose, Aberdeen; granddaughter, Carly Rose; six great grandchildren, Richard, Robin, Raven, Dylan, Destiny, Skylar Rose; and one great-great grandchild, J’adelynn Rose.
Clarence is in heaven enjoying his family who have passed before him, his parents; wife; granddaughter, Dawn Rose; and brother, Dwaine Rose.

WARREN WALWORTH
The service for Warren Walworth, 91, Aberdeen, will be 3:00pm, Friday, May 23, 2008 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Harold E. Salem officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Warren died Tuesday, May 20, at ManorCare Health Services.
Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Thursday, with family present from 5-7pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St.
Warren Walworth was born August 5, 1916, in Aberdeen, SD, to Chancellor and Myrtle (Hill) Walworth. He grew up in Westport, SD, and graduated from Westport High School in 1935. Warren then studied art at Northern State Teachers College and Iowa State University.
Warren married Mary Swartwout on May 31, 1941, in Hastings, NE. They moved to the family farm northwest of Westport where they lived until 1957. Warren then worked at Northern State University until he retired in 1977.
Warren’s favorite pastime was his art. His oil and watercolor paintings were exhibited at both Northern State University and Presentation College. In his retirement years Warren enjoyed taking care of the family garden and yard.
Grateful for having shared Warren’s life are his wife of sixty-seven years, Mary Walworth, Aberdeen; two sons, Dennis (Cookie) Walworth, Westport, SD; Gary (Sandra) Walworth, Springfield, MN; two daughters, Annette (Adrian) Hoines, Aberdeen; Leah (Loren) Nelson, Aberdeen; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loris; and grandson, Kyle Hoines.
DEBORAH BAIN
Funeral services for Deborah Bain, 55, Aberdeen, are 11:00am, Friday, May 16, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Whilock. Debby died Monday, at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Visitation: 1-7pm, Thursday with family from 5-7pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home.
Deborah Kaye (Moss) Bain was born on November 23, 1952 to Clinton and Emma (Braeten) Moss in Crosby, ND. She attended school in Wildrose, ND.
Debby married Larry Bain on July 29, 1972, in Aberdeen, SD. Together they had three children.
Debby loved to read and bake. She enjoyed assisting the elderly and she was very family oriented.
Grateful for having shared Debby’s life are her husband, Larry; three children, Michelle Bain, Aberdeen; Shane Bain, Aberdeen; Robit Artz, Yankton; brothers & sisters, Alvin (Kay), Coosbay, OR; Donna (Larry) Friesz, Mandan, ND; Carol (James) Steffins, Aberdeen; Richard (Evelyn), Center, ND; Jerry, Meridian, ID; Judy, Aberdeen; sister-in-law, Barbara Moss Hamlet, ND; nine grandchildren, Cody, Chance, Alesha, Dion, Page, Morgan, Blaze, Charlie, Kraven; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

ALVINA (UTECHT) KIRSCHENMANN
The service for Alvina (Utecht) Kirschenmann, 85, Aberdeen, will be 10:30am, Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Plymouth Congregational UCC with Pastor Richard Fylling officiating. Alvina died Sunday, May 11, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab.
Visitation will be from 1-8pm, Friday with family present from 6:30-8pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen.
Alvina Utecht was born in Coleharbor, ND on May 28, 1922 to Henry & Christina Utecht. At a young age Alvina and her family moved to the Turtle Lake region. They later moved into Turtle Lake where she graduated from high school. She then attended Minot State and taught for three years. Alvina also worked odd jobs for awhile, then started working for Minot and Bismarck photo shops. In 1946, she moved to Aberdeen, where she worked for Artz Studio and ASC Office. Alvina also worked at Control Data from 1970-1975.
Alvina loved sewing and bowling in the mixed league. Her greatest joy was taking care of her granddaughters.
Grateful for having shared Alvina’s life are her husband, Arthur, Aberdeen; son, Marlin (Diana) Kirschenmann, Aberdeen; granddaughters, Carisa Kirschenmann, Aberdeen; Kelli (Jeff) Simonsen, Yankton, SD; one great granddaughter, Brynn Simonsen born Saturday May 10, 2008; one sister, Dee Westerman, Seattle, WA; and Julius (Mavis) Kirschenmann, Aberdeen.
She is preceded in death by parents; brother, Albert Utecht.
ROY PRESZLER
The service for Roy Elmer Preszler, 87, formerly of Aberdeen, will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at First Reformed Church with Pastor David Dawn officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Roy died Saturday, May 10, at Golden Living Center, Watertown, SD.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm, Tuesday with a prayer service at 7pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St.
He was born June 27, 1920, in Eureka, SD to Jacob and Sarah (Berreth) Preszler.
On June 18, 1944, he married Leonora Heyne of Hosmer in St. John’s Lutheran Church. For nine years, they farmed nine miles east of Eureka. In 1955, they moved to Aberdeen, where he was employed with the Aberdeen Street Department for 26 years.
He was an active member of the Eagles Lodge for 55 years and a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, polka music, dancing, tinkering in his garage, helping others and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Later, he cared for his wife, Leonora of 64 years
Grateful for having shared Roy’s life are his wife, Leonora of Watertown; one daughter, Brenda and Dave Solberg of Watertown; one son, Roger (Jeannine) of Bismarck, N.D.; four grandchildren, Tiffany Preszler of Dallas, Texas, Mathew Preszler of Bismarck, Colin Preszler of Grand Forks, N.D., and Alex Preszler stationed in Keanoeoho, Hawaii; one sister, Irene Schnabel of Lodi, Calif.; one brother, Delano (Marcy) Preszler of Scotland, SD; and special friend, John Fenske of Aberdeen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob & Sarah Preszler.
