CLARENCE ERVIN JUNKER

The funeral service for Clarence Ervin Junker, 84, of Aberdeen, will be 2 pm Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Faith United Methodist Church, 305 S. Jay St., with Pastor Keith Hanson and Pastor Eric Gerber officiating. Clarence died Monday, July 30, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen.

Visitation is 1-7 pm Wednesday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., with family present from 5-7 pm.

Clarence Ervin Junker was born on July, 26, 1923 to John. P. and Louise (Seiler) Junker at Java, South Dakota. He died on July 30, 2007 at Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 84.

He graduated from Eureka High School in 1941. He was a salesman all his life. He began working for Montgomery Wards at stores in Bismarck, N.D., Wahpeton, N.D., Willmar, Minn. Rochester, Minn. and finally came to Aberdeen South Dakota. He worked at Wards for 23 years. Real Estate was his dream so in 1963 he received his broker’s license and in 1965 he opened Junker Real Estate and Insurance and closed the business in 1986. He was also the third generation to sell Milbank Mutual Insurance.

Clarence and Lois worked alongside each other in the real estate and insurance business as well as in the monument business working for Northern Monument from 1990 until retirement in 2000.

Clarence married “his bride” Lois Mae Olson on September 15, 1946 in Breckenridge, Minn. They had five children and were actively involved in their lives. .

Clarence was a very active member of the former EUB church / now the Faith United Methodist church serving as an usher, trustee, a cub scout leader, as well as serving on many other committees.

In 1954 he started a church softball league and within a few years he had a 14 team league and had also promoted a lighted field for the teams.

Clarence was President of the Aberdeen Board of Realtors for two years, and was Realtor of the year in 1974. He also served as a Director of the South Dakota board of Realtors and was an active committee member for the Education Committee.

He was a State and National member of the “Enlarged Home Protection Program” and attended a meeting in Washington, D.C.

Clarence was a actively involved in bringing businesses to the Aberdeen Community, he sold the land for the original McDonald’s, Midwest Tire Corporation as well as Scotty’s Restaurant.

He was also active in PTA working both on the local, state and national level. For two years he was the State Legislative Chairman and on one of these trips the highlight was a luncheon with Betty Ford.

He belonged to the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Ambassadors and was name Ambassador of the Year in 1977. He served on several community committees: School and Park, Building Advisory Committee for the Aberdeen Public School, and the Board of Juvenile Court Advisory Council. He also attended a National seminar in Chicago for the Juvenile Court.

Clarence belonged to the booster club, the sportsman’s, club, the Moose lodge, and was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.

He loved fishing in Canada with his boys, fishing at the river with Klingman, West and his other fishing buddies. He loved boating, hunting, water skiing, as well as playing baseball and softball and watching any sporting event.

He enjoyed visiting his children and their families. A special part of his life was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren – this time might include a fishing lesson, hunting lesson, card playing lesson, a game of chess or checkers, a morning trip to Daylight Donuts ,. or going to Storybook Land for a Train Ride or to drive the go karts.

For the past year Clarence has lived at the Mother Joseph Manor and was an active part of that community. He enjoyed the special music, watching the birds and fish, playing bingo, visiting with the staff and his roommates and of course the daily visits by his wife of 60 years.

He is survived by his wife Lois Junker, Aberdeen South Dakota, 2 sons, Paul J. (Kathy) Junker of Camas, Washington, Dave A. Junker of Colville, Washington, 3 daughters, Carol (Steve) Bailey of Rochester Minnesota, Patti Marshall of Vancouver, Washington, and Debra (James) Woodworth. of Blaine, Minnesota – 5 grandchildren Bryan (Leah) Bailey of Rosemont, Minn, , Rob (Kathy) Junker of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ryan Junker of Camas Washington, Lauren Marshall of Vancouver, Washinton and Charlie Bloomer of Blaine, Minn. – 5 great grandchildren Spencer Bailey of Rosemont, Minn Katelyn Junker of Vancouver, Washington, Taylor, Allison, and Lindsey Grace Junker of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and his cousins, the 2:30 coffee group at Mill Stone Restaurant, friend of the family Agnes Mayer, his church friends special caregiver, Allan Thornton, and the other caregivers, residents and staff at Mother Joseph Manor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and many friends and relatives.

AMELIA FAUTH

The funeral service for Amelia Fauth, 92, of Leola, will be 10:30 am Thursday, August 2, 2007 at St. James Lutheran Church, Leola, with Pastor Erik Swanson officiating. Burial will be at 2 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Amelia died Monday, July 30, at ManorCare Health Services, Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 1-7 pm Wednesday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Amelia Hoffman was born on November 10, 1914 to Christoph and Christina (Schumacher) Hoffman near Long Lake, SD. She grew up and attended school in the area. On November 14, 1937, Amelia married Arthur Fauth at Hope Lutheran Church, Long Lake. They lived on a farm Northeast of Leola. In 1946 they moved to a farm East of Leola. Amelia was a hard worker and worked alongside her husband. Arthur died on June 30, 2000. Amelia then moved into Leola in 2001. Over the years, Amelia helped care for some of her nieces and nephews, along with her own son. She also was glad to help care for her grandchildren.

Amelia was a member of Hope Lutheran Church until moving to Leola, when she became a member of St. James Lutheran Church. She was active with the ladies quilting groups and made many quilts at home and at church. Amelia also enjoyed making quilts for her family. She liked to play cards with friends and family, especially Rook. Amelia was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Myron (Sheila) Fauth, Leola, three grandchildren, Leisha (Kevin) Zwinger, Launa (Sid) Feickert, and Jason (Pamela) Fauth, two sisters, Rose (Gottlieb) Gienger, Aberdeen, and Lea (Jacob) Gehring, Leola, and ten great grandchildren, Morgan, Joshua, Jonah, and Madison Zwinger, Brooke, Ashley, Alison, and Lance Feickert, and April and Taylor Fauth.

Amelia was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her parents, Christoph and Christina, a daughter, Arlene Fauth, a great grandson, Zachary Zwinger, seven brothers and three sisters.

DELMAR HANSEN

Services for Delmar Hansen, 87, Aberdeen will be Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 2pm at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Columbia with Pastor Jais Tinglund and Pastor John Farden officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home 1111 S. Main St. from 1 to 7pm with family present from 5 to7pm and a prayer service at 7.

Delmar Dwight Hansen was born December 10, 1919 to Abraham and Verna (Wilson) Hansen on the family farm near Mansfield, South Dakota. Delmar married Gladys Dayton on September 16, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warner, SD. From their union together they were blessed with ten children.

Delmar farmed for many years until his retirement. Delmar enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball, playing cards, and bowling. He also enjoyed dancing, but most of all, he cherished the quality time spent entertaining his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Moose for 56 years and he ushered for over ten years at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Columbia were he was a member for 59 years. Delmar was a volunteer at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital for five years.

Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 56 years, Gladys; four sons, Kevin and Mona of Goldconda, NV, Clyde and Rhonda of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kerry of Columbia, SD, Kirk and Nila of Mitchell, SD, three daughters, Kim and Rob Peterson of Aberdeen, SD, Carla Hansen of Colorado Springs, CO, Kaelyn Hansen of Colorado Springs, CO, one sister JoElain Tovlstad of Mellette, SD, and twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Delmar was preceded in death by two sons, Kelly and Kent Hansen, one daughter, Kristi Hansen, and two sisters, Mildred Schauman and Leora Angerhofer.

BEVERLY ANN LOUT

The memorial service for Beverly A. Lout, 70 of Aberdeen, will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Ave. NE with Pastor Allan Schoonover officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Beverly lost her fight to cancer when she passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor surrounded by her family. Her body was cremated.

There will be a prayer service at 7:30 pm Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE, is in charge of arrangements.

Beverly Ann Fogel was born on December 1, 1934 at Aberdeen, SD to Monty & Mary (Hammrich) Fogel. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. She enjoyed her work selling Avon and waitressing. On September 24, 1979 she started at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital retiring on October 18, 1996.

Beverly was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She also was a member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and especially loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid Aberdeen Central Golden Eagle’s Fan and enjoyed watching her grandsons play.

Grateful for having shared Beverly’s life are her husband, Jim Lout, Aberdeen, her children, Connie (Pete) Herman, Debi (Jim) Hovrud, Byron Kurtz, Rod (Kim) Kurtz, all of Aberdeen, Calvin (Susan) Lout, Armour, and Denise (Chad) Lyke, Aberdeen, grandchildren, Laurie (Paul Church) Herman, Megan Herman, Kara Herman, Missy (Jay) Hill, Chris (Sondra) Kurtz, Stacy (Dave Washenberger) Kurtz, Trent Kurtz, Todd Kurtz, Danny Kurtz and Jaiden Lyke, great grandchildren, Krystina Church, Brittani Church, Brenna Hill, Tage Kurtz, Kadence Kurtz and Riley Kurtz, brothers and sisters, Loretta Boulais, Escondido, Ca, Dennis (Linda) Fogel, Richmond Lake, Sharon (Morris) Geist, Cresbard, Jim (Mary) Fogel, Linda Fogel, both of Aberdeen, David (Carol) Fogel. Brainerd, MN and Norman Fogel, St. Paul, MN.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Monty & Mary Fogel, grandson, Jason Kurtz, great granddaughter, Hattie Hill, brothers, Butch Fogel, Mick Fogel and one infant sister.

JULIUS H. AMAN

Funeral service for Julius H. Aman, 84, Aberdeen is 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Plymouth Congregational Church, Aberdeen with Pastor Rick Riedel officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Julius died Friday, April 15, 2005 at the Heart Hospital of Sioux Falls.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE. and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Julius H. Aman was born on March 25, 1921 at rural Hosmer, SD to Jacob H. and Louise (Barth) Aman. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. He farmed with his parents until 1944. On April 23, 1944 he married Esther Herman at Eureka, SD. They made their home in Hosmer where he owned and operated the Sterling Oil Company until 1950. He then did custom bailing and shipping until 1952 when they moved to Igloo, SD where he worked for the Government until 1954. Julius and his family moved to Aberdeen where they owned and operated Home Café for one year and then operated the Spur Lounge and Steakhouse until 1973. He was forced to retire due to poor eye sight. He learned Braille in Sioux Falls, SD.

Julius was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. He enjoyed fishing and western and spiritual music. He also enjoyed picking his guitar. They spent fourteen winters in Mesa, AZ. Julius was blind since 1989. He really enjoyed listening to the Minnesota Twins and riding on his side-by-side bicycle.

Grateful for having shared Julius’ life are his wife, Esther Aman of Aberdeen; son, LeRoy (Sherry) Aman of Mina; three grandchildren, Shannon (Jane) Aman, Scott (Nicole) Gradberg, Schimayne (Chuck) Hanisch; six great grandchildren, Lindsay Aman, Nathan Gradberg, Kaitlin Gradberg, Paige Hanisch, Joseph Hanisch and Clayton Hanisch; two brothers, Erwin Aman of Hosmer and Jackie (Linda Peterman) Aman of Sioux Falls.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lorrine Gradberg; two grandchildren, Lynn and Raquel Aman; two brothers, Edmund Aman, Milton Aman; sister, Lorrine Aman.

KYLE GARRETT HOINES

Service for Kyle Garrett Hoines, 25, Aberdeen is 10:30 am Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen with Pastor Allan Schoonover officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Kyle died Thursday, April 14 at his home.

Visitation: 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, Monday at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Kyle Garrett Hoines was born October 11, 1979 to Adrian & Annette (Walworth) Hoines at Mitchell, SD. The family moved to Aberdeen in 1979 where Kyle grew up and attended school; graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1998. He then attended Presentation College for one year. He worked various jobs in the Aberdeen area and in 2000 he moved to Deadwood, SD. In 2001 he moved back to Aberdeen where he worked with his dad and did carpentry work. He had just begun working at Parkview Nursery.

Kyle was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. His daughter, Dilyn was a very special part of his life. Kyle always had a kind word and a hug for people. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Grateful for having shared Kyle’s life are his parents, Adrian & Annette Hoines, Aberdeen; one daughter, Dilyn Swingler, Aberdeen; maternal grandparents, Warren & Mary Walworth, Aberdeen, SD; uncles and aunts, Arlene Williamson, Ardell & Hank Poeggel, Annette & Rodney Kervin, Dennis & Corrinne Walworth, Gary & Sandra Walworth and Loren and Leah Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Magnus Hoines and Constance Hoines Hoffbauer; three uncles, Magnus Hoines, Dale Hoines and Richard Williamson.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be his daughter, Dilyn, and all of his cousins and friends.

Casketbearers will be Brian Williamson, Mitchell Zerr, Kelly Gillis, Jamie Shaw, Scott Schumacher, Joey Krause, Nathan Winter, and Merlin Arment.

TODD DONALD ROSE

Services for Todd Donald Rose, 37, Aberdeen are 1:00 pm Monday, April 11, 2005 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Allan Schoonover officiating. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post 24. Todd died Wednesday, April 6 at his home.

Closed casket visitation will be from 2-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm, Sunday at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 6th Ave. SE and one hour prior to the service at church.

Todd Rose was born on May 28, 1967 at Deadwood, SD. His family moved to Aberdeen when he was young and he grew up here. Todd graduated from Central High School in 1986. While in school he worked at Scotty’s Drive-In. After graduation, Todd joined the U.S. Marines. He served from 1986 until 1990. During that time, he was stationed in Okinawa for 18 months. Following his service in the military, Todd attended Lane Community College in Eugene, OR and graduated with a degree in Aviation Maintenance. In the spring of 1993, he returned to Aberdeen and began working at Hub City Inc. where he has been employed for over ten years.

Todd was a member of the Machinist Union. He enjoyed watching football and playing cards with his friends. Todd also liked to go fishing and hunting. Time spent with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, brought Todd the greatest joy.

Grateful for having shared Todd’s life are his parents: Shirley and Jack Fries, Ipswich, SD; three brothers: Jon (Mary) Rose, Colorado Springs, CO, Marvin (Pamela) Rose, Aberdeen, and Terry Fries, Denver, CO; four sisters: Brenda (Dennis) Joy, Aberdeen, Tamra (Troy) Peschong, Milbank, SD, Tracy (Jeromy) Loken, Ipswich, SD, and Summer Fries, Ipswich; maternal grandparents; Jeanette and Leslie Holland, Sr., Ipswich, paternal grandmothers; Charity Fries, Scranton, ND and Lily Rose, Groton, SD; twelve nieces and nephews: Justin and Josh Rose, Sarah and Deardra Rose, Natasha and Andrea Joy, Brandon, Presley and Jersey Peschong, and Taylor, Sydney and Ashton Loken; and many aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers: Henry Fries and Emil Rose.

STANLEY G. GUNDERSON

The memorial service for Stanley G. Gunderson, 81, of Aberdeen, will be 11:00 am, Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating. Inurnment will follow at 1:00 pm at Riverside Memorial Park. Mr. Gunderson died Monday, April 04, 2005 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Stan G. Gunderson was born on March 10, 1924 to Guy and Millie (Erickson) Gunderson at Aberdeen, SD. He grew up in the Aberdeen area and graduated from Central High School in 1942. After high school, Stan joined the U.S. Army and served from 1942 to 1946 in WWII in the 17th Airborne Paratroopers.

After the Army, Stan returned to Aberdeen. He attended Northern State Teacher’s College and received a degree in teaching with a history major.

Stan married Helen M. Keller on January 2, 1947 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Stan worked for Socony Mobil Oil Co. for several years in Aberdeen until moving to Lisbon, ND in 1955. He worked in sales management for Melroe Co. in Lisbon until they moved to Chicago in 1975. There he took a job as Central Parts Manager for Melroe. He was with Melroe until his retirement in 1982 when they moved back to Aberdeen.

Stan was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was very active in the church and served as president of the church council. Stan was known for his beautiful singing voice. He sang in the church choir and was a member of the Dakota Heritage Barbershop Chorus. Along with the volunteer work with his church, Stan helped seniors with their taxes at the Alexander Mitchell Library. Stan was very active in the Brown County Republican Party. He was elected national association president of the 17th Airborne Army group and was part of the planning committee for their 50th Anniversary. Stan was chosen to place a wreath on General George S. Patton’s grave on behalf of the 17th Airborne. He was a member of the V.F.W. and past member of the Elks. He also was a member of Toastmasters. Golfing was a favorite pastime of Stan’s and he was a member of the Moccasin Creek Country Club. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Stan was an avid reader and loved to read about history. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son: Barry (Michele) Gunderson of Denver, CO; two daughters: Mitzi (Paul) Johnston of Miami, FL and Peggy (Mike) Kelly of Sugarland, TX; four grandchildren: Kelly Johnston, Todd Johnston, Chris Kelly, and Matthew Kelly; three sisters: Clarice Geersen of Gordon, NE, Elaine (Elmer) Roth, and Ruth (George) Casanova; sister-in-law: Naomi Alexander; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Doris and Don Angerhofer all of Aberdeen; many nieces and nephews; and his grand-dog: Ruby.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Helen; parents: Guy and Millie; brother: Russell Alexander; and three sisters: Beatrice Goulette, Jeanne Dingman, and Gloria Hartzel.

The family prefers memorials to North Plains Hospice, Bethesda Home of Aberdeen, or Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen.
