DAVID G. KRUEGER
The service for David G. Krueger, 63, of Aberdeen, is 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Pastor Tony Haglund officiating. Burial at Riverside Cemetery: Military Honors by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post 24. David died on Sunday, September 30, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.
Visitation is 1-7 pm Tuesday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., and one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7 pm.
David G. Krueger was born on September 8, 1944 to Richard & Lyla (Baldry) Krueger in Groton, SD. He graduated from Groton High School with the class of 1962, and joined the US Air Force in September of that year. He was stationed at Malmstron AFB in Great Falls, MT from 1962-1967.
David married Nancy Erickson at Langford Lutheran Church on November 25, 1964.
He was stationed at Grissim AFB in Peru, IN from 1967-68. David completed is tour of duty in Viet Nam from 1968-1969. He was then stationed at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, SD from 1969-1970, where he was then honorably discharged.
David and Nancy stayed in Rapid City where he worked at Knecht Lumber until 1972. From there they went to Aberdeen, SD. He was employed at the US Postal Service in 1972. He retired in January 2005 after forty-one years of service.
David was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He taught his family the love of music and to appreciate the beauty of nature. David enjoyed hunting, fishing with his girls, singing, and playing the guitar. He spent endless hours in his beautifully created yard.
Grateful for having shared David’s life are his wife of 43 years, Nancy, Aberdeen; his daughters, Amy (Scott) Carlson, Seneca; Ann Krueger (David Schmidt), Watertown; Heidi Krueger (Ray Bower), Frederick; mother, Lyla Krueger; sisters, Roberta (George) Walters, Kathy (Terry) Brooks, grandchildren, Peary, Jamie, Samantha and Jesse Carlson, Bryce Krueger, Shaun and Alex Bower; and many nieces and nephews.

Velma Otten
The memorial service for Velma Ann Otten, 68, of Aberdeen, will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Battey officiating. Velma died Monday, September 24, 2007 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
Velma was born June 13, 1939 in San Francis County, Ark. to Share Croppers John and Fannie (Starkey) William. At the age of five, Velma started working in the cotton fields along with her sisters to help support the family until graduating from school in Earle, Ark. She met and married Vern Otten and had three boys they would eventually divorce in 1967. Soon afterwards she moved to Glasgow, MT and received a secondary education in the secretary field. In 1971, she would move with her children to Pierre, SD where she worked with George McGovern on his presidential campaign and then started at the PUC until 1986 retiring due to health concerns.
Velma loved all of God’s creations from earth’s beauty to all of its living inhabitants; above all she sincerely loved Jesus Christ. She had a deep fondness for all her grandchildren. Velma enjoyed spending time with two of her four grandchildren Abby and Kia Otten who lived close to her. Being from the south she loved cooking hot and spicy southern foods and making crafts and enjoying her doll collection.
Grateful for having shared Velma’s life are three sons, Ted (Carol) Otten, Bath, SD, Darren (Shelly) Otten of Stockton, CA and Shane Otten, Aberdeen, SD and Four Grandchildren, Jason, Kia, Shania, and Abby, two sisters, Minnie Miles, Battlecreek, MI and Barbara Laird, Wynne, Ark.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Daisy Paddock and Lela Rogers.
DR. DONALD N. KING
Services for Dr. Donald N. King, 82, Aberdeen will be 5 pm, Saturday, September 29, 2007 at North Highland United Methodist Church with Pastors Marie Lanzillo and Deb Grismer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park with military honors by the Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post 24. Donald died Tuesday, September 25 at the Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 2-7 pm, Friday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Donald Neal King was born on January 20, 1925 at Puxico, MO to Dolph and Thelma (Voelker) King. He served in the US Navy in August of 1941 to February of 1946 and from April 1951 to April 1955. On December 30, 1955 he married Mabel Williamson at Dexter, MO. Donald was a lifetime educator. He received his BS in Education from SE Missouri State, his MS in education from Oklahoma State. He was a Professor of Psychology at NSU for twenty-eight years. Mabel died on June 15, 2007 in Aberdeen.
He loved to go to rummage sales and collected canes, cast iron skillets, and various musical instruments.
Donald was a member of Masons, Phi Delta Kappa, American Legion Post #78-Leola, SD, Social Science Fraternity, PSI, AARP, and VFW.
Grateful for having shared Donald’s life are his three daughters, Janice (Richard) Jasmer, Leola, Clare (Brian) Hink, Aberdeen; Candi (Frank) Lavielle, Aberdeen; one son, Douglas (Cheri) King, Aberdeen; one brother, George (LaVerne) King, Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; Pastor Debora (Rodney), Pamela (Jason), Gregory, Lisanne, Clarissa, Samuel, Jack and Casey and five great-grandchildren; Brian, Brandon, Haylee, Taylor, April.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mabel, son, Stanley and sister Betty Hendrix.
WALTER REIMER
The services for Walter A. Reimer, 78, Richfield, MN will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Plymouth Congregational Church with Pastor Richard Fylling officiating. Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, October 5, at Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis, MN. Walter died Monday, September 24, 2007 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
Visitation will be from 1-7 pm Friday and from 9-11 am Saturday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St.
Walter Albert Reimer was born in Artas, SD on January 28, 1929 to Ed C. & Pauline (Kiepke) Reimer. He went to Bentz School NW of Artas. Walter joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany post WWII from 1950-1955. On April 17, 1954 Walter married Hildegard Schalder in Viernheim, Germany.
After being honorably discharged from the Army Walter and Hildegard returned to Artas, SD where he farmed for two years. Walter & Hildegard then moved to Minneapolis in 1957 where Walter worked construction and maintenance. They traveled frequently back to Germany to visit. Hildegard died on March 10, 2005.
Walter was a member of the VFW in Richfield, MN. He enjoyed hunting with his father when he was young, dancing with his wife, and playing cards. He also loved baseball and especially enjoyed watching the Twins. Walter was in the process of moving to Aberdeen.
Grateful for having shared Walter’s life are his sisters, Verna Dorene Ochsner, Renata Edna (Peter) Ochsner, brother Richard Reimer, seventeen nieces and nephews and special friend Kathy Thornblad.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed C. & Pauline; his wife; one brother, Ferdinand Reimer and one niece Linda Faye Ochsner.
PHYLLIS MAE WOODMAN
The memorial service for Phyllis Mae Woodman, 79, Aberdeen will be 10:30 am, Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Marcia Sylvester officiating. Phyllis died Thursday, September 13, 2007 in her home.
Phyllis Mae Welch was born on March 21, 1928 at Florence, SD to William & Nellie (Erdahl) Welch. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Florence High School. She moved to Portland for one year and moved back to Aberdeen where she worked for Nash Finch for a few years.
On June 17, 1950 Phyllis married George Woodman at Aberdeen, SD where they made their home.
She enjoyed knitting, cooking, flowers and loved the ocean. Phyllis especially loved her grandchildren. Phyllis was a loving, selfless and caring person
Grateful for having shared Phyllis’ life are her two daughters, Patty (Tony) Schwan, Aberdeen; Annette (Michael) Howe, Washington, PA; one brother, Charles (Sonja) Welch, Watertown; one sister, Ethel Clarke, Portland, OR; and four grandchildren, Summer (Tom) Schauer, Anthony Jr., Alex and Julie, nieces, Sharon Clarke, Stephanie Davis, Lisa Morford and Cindy (Rob) Zell and nephew, Bill (Kristi) Welch.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William & Nellie Welch; her husband, George Woodman; and brothers, Lyle & Lloyd Welch.
BERNICE FELLERS
The memorial service for Bernice Fellers, 92, of Aberdeen, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Svingen officiating. Bernice died Wednesday, September 12, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab.
Bernice Elizabeth Gunderson was born in Valley City, ND on November 8, 1914 to Ole & Helen (Hoff) Gunderson. She graduated from high school in Billings, MT.
In February of 1942 Bernice married Ralph Waller. Ralph died in 1948 and Bernice moved to Aberdeen to be with her parents and her sister, Louise Gunderson. There she worked for the IRS until she married Allen Fellers in 1954.
Bernice raised her family and helped Allen in business at the Aberdeen Lumber Company and Allen Fellers, Inc.
Bernice lived at Prairie Crossing and Aberdeen Health & Rehab since Allen’s death in 2004.
She had a lifelong interest and talent for music. She participated in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church choir, Sons of Norway, and was active in the YWCA. Bernice was very caring and had a special interest in others. Her grandchildren particularly enjoyed her gentle and strong spirit.
The family would like to express special thanks to the caring and loving staff at Aberdeen Health & Rehab.
Grateful for having shared Bernice’s life are her children, Nancy Waller Kinsella, Bloomington, MN; Gayle (Tom) Idema, Sioux Falls; Bill (Gail) Fellers, Irvine, CA; five grandchildren, Terri Banning, Penni Anderson, Lisa Chandler, Dustin Fellers, Paige Fellers; and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Waller; Allen Fellers and her son, Mick Waller.
WILLIAM C. MORGAN
The service for William C. Morgan, 92, of Aberdeen will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 15, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Haggar officiating. William died Monday, September 10, 2007 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 1-7 pm Friday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen.
William Morgan was born on July 21, 1915 at Round Lake, MN to Curtis and Caroline (Antritter) Morgan. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Round Lake High School with the Class of 1933.
On July 2, 1939 he married Dorothy Paine at Worthington, MN. They made their home on a farm near Round Lake and owned a grocery store. In 1948, he began his sales career with Lindsay Brothers and then later with Allis Chalmers. He retired as Vice President and Director of Marketing and Sales from the Snow Company in Omaha, NE. They moved to Fargo, ND and later to Aberdeen, SD. Dorothy died on June 17, 2001 at Aberdeen.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Aberdeen.
Grateful for having shared his life are: his two sons, Thomas Morgan and his dear friend, Diana Hayes, Aberdeen and David (Bonnie) Morgan; his grandchildren, Stacey (Kim) Lang, Amy (Scott) Van Den Einde, Sara (Tony) Docan-Morgan, Scott (Kim) Morgan, Mark (Dawn) Morgan, Todd (Erin) Morgan and Erin Morgan; his great grandchildren, Cole, Landon, Jordan, Dylan, Brandon, Ryan, Raegan, Conner and Riley; and his dear friend, Dorothy Gathright.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, parents, Curtis and Caroline Morgan, daughter-in-law, Sharon Morgan; brother, Paul Morgan, sisters, Clara Beal, Frieda Beal and Florence Morgan.
MARY SHEW
The funeral service for Mary Corrine Shew, 83, of Aberdeen, formerly of Cresbard will be 11:00 am, Thursday September 13, 2007 at United Methodist Church, Cresbard with Pastor Julie Nygaard officiating. Burial will follow at Ipswich City Cemetery. Mary died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen.
MICHAEL PELZL
The service for Michael Pelzl, 54, Aberdeen will be 11:00 am, Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Eldon Reich officiating. Michael died Monday, September 10, 2007 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
Visitation will be from 1-7 pm, Wednesday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home.
Mike John Pelzl was born on July 28, 1953 at Aberdeen, SD to James & Dorothy (Williams) Pelzl. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. He graduated Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1971. He then attended PanAmerican University, Edinburg, TX for one year where he majored in Beachology. He then moved back to Aberdeen where he attended NSU and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelors degree.
On June 8, 1974 he married Jean Fulker at Aberdeen. They made their home in Aberdeen where he worked for his dad at Twin City Roofing where he was working at the time of his death.
Mike was a member of the Wolves club and NSU Foundation, and a past member of the Board of Adjustment Training Center. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, golfing, fishing, hunting, and loved watching movies. Mike was a six time CC Lee Golf Champion and won the Dakota Open. His favorite team was the St. Louis Rams.
He will be missed by those who loved him and understood him.
Grateful for having shared Mike’s life are his wife, Jean Pelzl, Aberdeen; one son, Jason (Jennifer) Pelzl, Aberdeen; one brother, Steve (Kim Marie) Pelzl, Aberdeen; and two sisters, Sandi (Randy) Rabas, Billings, MT, Cathy (Len) Ivey, Aberdeen; and Jean’s family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Pelzl.
