Keith Bjork, 45

Keith Bjork, 45, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Covington Heights Convalescent Center following a long illness.

Services were Tuesday at Grandview Covenant Church, rural Larchwood, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bjork was born Dec. 5, 1957, at Valley Springs, S.D., the son of Virgil and Burnice (Henrikson) Bjork. He grew up in the Larchwood area and attended school at West Lyon and in Rock Rapids. He received training in Des Moines to do microfilming.

On June 25, 1983, he married Amy Jesperson. They lived in Sioux Falls where he worked in telemarketing, as a supervisor of carriers for the Argus Leader and as a production worker with Goodwill Industries. He became a resident of Covington Heights Convalescent Care Center after suffering a stroke in August 2002.

Survivors include his wife; mother of Mesa, Ariz., and three sisters, Mrs. Len (Cheryl) Olson of Mesa, Mrs. Warren (Carol) Johnson of Carmel, Ind., and Mrs. Stan (Barbara) Adams of Brighton, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his father and infant brother.

Malcolm Schliemann, 86
Sioux Falls, S.D.
March 31, 2003

Malcolm Schliemann, 86, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Good Samaritan Center.

Services were Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, with interment in Hills of Rest Memorial Park.

Mr. Schliemann was born Oct. 12, 1916, near Hartford, S.D.

On July 15, 1940, he married Myrline Young in Rock Rapids. They lived in the Rock Rapids before moving to Sioux Falls where he worked at John Morrell & Co. In 1945 he entered the army. After World War II, he returned to Sioux Falls and resumed his career at John Morrell, retiring in 1981 after 41 years of service.

His wife died June 1, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Donald of Sioux Falls and Milford of Beavercreek, Ohio; one daughter, Malvia Pritchard of Montrose, S.D.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and three sisters.

Norman Stensland

Norman Stensland, 78, of Canton, S.D., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001 at a hospital in Yankton, S.D.

Services were Tuesday at Canton Lutheran Church with interment in Our Savior's Lutheran cemetery near Inwood.

Mr. Stensland was born Feb. 19, 1923, near Inwood, the son of Ole and Severline (Mydland) Stensland. He grew up and attended school near Inwood. He farmed with his father several years and later farmed on his own until moving to Canton. He worked for the Lincoln County Highway Department 28 years until his retirement.

On Jan. 2, 1953, he married Hazel (Stengel) Knorr in Sioux Falls, S.D. She died April 27, 1993.

Survivors include one stepson, one stepdaughter and three brothers, Hans and Tommy, both of Canton, and Sig of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Kenneth, Trig and Gerrit, and one sister, Marcene.

Jerry Mach, 72
Yankton, S.D.
September 30, 2003

Jerry Mach, 72, of Yankton, S.D., formerly of Flandreau, S.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.

Funeral mass was Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton, with interment in Garden of Memories cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, two daughters including Mrs. David (Patty) Halse of Rock Rapids and 10 grandchildren.

H. Lenette Matzen, 83
Sioux Falls, S.D.
May 27, 2003

H. Lenette Matzen, 83, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Prince of Peace Nursing Home.

Services were Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea, S.D., with interment in Bethany Lutheran cemetery, Fairview, S.D.

Lenette Whitehead was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Lyon County, the daughter of Stella and Walter Whitehead.

On Sept. 26, 1938, she married Albert Matzen in Fairview. She was employed at Crippled Children's School until retiring in 1984 and was a Senior Companion over 15 years.

Survivors include one son, Terry of Lennox, S.D.; three daughters, Jan Bosler of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Larry (Margaret) Long of Valley Springs, S.D., and Mrs. Ken (Rallys) Kahl of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Shirley Matzen of Rapid City, S.D., and Billie Anderson of Rock Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.

Robert Olson, 79
Sioux Falls, S.D.
May 24, 2003

Robert Olson, 79, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Avera McKennan Hospital.

Memorial services were May 27 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters including Mrs. Michael (Bridget) Dickmann of George, one granddaughter and a twin brother.

Alma Polzin, 85
Sioux Falls, S.D.
November 27, 2003

Alma Polzin, 85, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Avera McKennan Hospital.

Services were Monday at Prairie Hills Covenant Church, Sioux Falls, with interment in Larchwood cemetery.

Alma Henrikson was born June 18, 1918, in Larchwood, the daughter of Tonnes and Bella (Anderson) Henrikson. She grew up and attended school in Larchwood.

On Jan. 25, 1941, she married Marvin Polzin in Sibley. They lived in Sioux Falls, moving to Inn at Westport in 1997.

Her husband died March 3, 1999.

Survivors include four daughters, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Burnice Bjork and Helen Williams, both of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one great-grandson; three brothers, Wallace, Arnold and Marvin, and one sister, Ruby Wirts.
