Roland Earl Carpenter

Roland Earl Carpenter, son of Earl and Lessie (Kimzey) Carpenter was born July 18, 1922 in Sioux Falls, SD. He later moved with his family to a farm near Parker, SD. Roland attended Parker High School. He then farmed with his family for several years.
Roland was united in marriage with Ella Bosch January 17, 1945 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple farmed near Wall Lake for 20 years before moving to Sioux Falls. Roland then worked as a service technician for Minnegasco Company in Sioux Falls until his retirement. In retirement he worked for First Savings Bank where he watered flowers around the facility.
Roland was a member of First Reformed Church. He enjoyed fixing things and loved working in his yard and garden.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Ella; two sons, Lynn Carpenter and his wife, Debbie, Harrisburg, SD, Paul Carpenter, Jasper, MN; one daughter, Gail Brudvig, Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Ruby Luke, Marion, SD; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Roland was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Allison Annie Carpenter and his parents.

Minnie Buskohl, daughter of George and Lena (DeBelts) Buskohl, was born April 16, 1912 in Parker, SD. As a child she moved with her family to Tea, SD where she grew up.
Minnie was united in marriage with Henry Mueller on April 6, 1931 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple farmed the Mueller Homestead in Lincoln County until retiring to Sioux Falls in 1959. Minnie then worked as a seamstress at Park Ridge Dry Cleaners before retiring in 1969.
Minnie was a member of Sunnycrest United Methodist Church.
Grateful for having shared her life are one son, Arlin Mueller and his wife, Charlotte, Sioux Falls, SD; one daughter, Arlene Kettwig, Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren, James Reich and his wife, Debbie, Sioux Falls, SD, Melinda Johnson and her husband, Carl, Brandon, SD, Patricia Guthmiller and her husband, James, Sioux Falls, SD, Henry Mueller and his wife, Margaret, Sioux Falls, SD, Carla Wilson and her husband, Rick, Las Vegas, NV, Charlene Ricketts, Sioux Falls, SD, Harlin Mueller and his wife, Heidi, Steamboat Springs, CO; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, on October 3, 1983; an infant daughter, Darlene; her parents; three brothers, George, Harry, Delmar; and a son-in-law, Donovan Kettwig.

Fletcher C. Nelson
Died: Dec 1, 2003
Fletcher C. Nelson was born October 6, 1918 at Viborg, SD to Hans Ditlev Nielsen (Nelson) and Rosa Elvine Johansen (Johnson). He completed 7 ½ years of primary school in Viborg, and then moved to Sioux Falls with his parents in 1931, where he completed his education and graduated from Washington High School in 1936.
Fletch also attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, and then enlisted in the United States Navy on October 23, 1941. He served six years before being honorably discharged on August 8, 1947.
On October 4, 1942, Fletcher was united in marriage to Helene Harris. To this union, three children were born.
After his discharge, Fletch opened Fletcher C. Nelson Insurance Agency in August of 1955 and continued to operate it until 1969. From 1970 to 1984, he owned and operated gasoline stations in the Sioux Falls area until their sale in 1984, which also marked the beginning of his retirement.
Fletch was a member of Unity Lodge #130, AF&AM;, Sioux Falls Scottish Rite, KCCH, and El Riad Shrine, all located in Sioux Falls. He was also a member of El Riad Fife and Drum Corps and was appointed to the Imperial Shrine Photographic staff in 1985. He was a charter member of Westward Ho Country Club, a member of American MENSA, Ltd., serving and as editor of the South Dakota newsletter and a membership qualification testing proctor.
He was a marksman and hunter, as well as a classical musician who was selected to play baritone in the U.S. Navy Band.
Grateful for having shared his life are his three children; David Nelson, and his wife, Becky, Sioux Falls, SD, Jane Stegenga, and her husband, Mike, Sioux Falls, SD, and Carol Haas, and her husband, Gary, St. Louis, MO; his later years’ love, Edna Ellwein; five grandchildren, David and Jenna Sanderson, Scott and Nicholas Langley, and Amy Wenzl, and her husband, Joel; a niece and a nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to fellowship in Fletch’s memory at an Oasis reception immediately following this Masonic service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the El Riad Shrine Transportation Fund in memory of Fletch.

Alma Oneva Henrikson, daughter of Tonnes and Bella (Anderson) Henrikson, was born June 18, 1918 at Larchwood, IA. She grew up and was educated there.
Alma was united in marriage with Marvin A. Polzin on January 25, 1941 at Sibley, IA. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls where she enjoyed being a homemaker. They moved to The Inn at Westport in 1997. Her husband, Marvin, died March 3, 1999.
Alma was a longtime member of Prairie Hills Covenant Church, where she was active in women’s circle. She also was a member of the Center for Active Generations and an election official for many years. She collected elephants and was affectionately known as the “Elephant Lady”.
Grateful for having shared her life are her four daughters, Beverly Philliber and her husband, Lynn, Sioux Falls, SD, Betty Riessen and her husband, Rudy, Hartley, IA, Carolyn Mills and her husband, Fred, Melbourne, FL, Nancy Polzin, San Antonio, TX; 12 grandchildren, Sam Scott, Ann Olson, Murray, Marvin Jay, and Mitchell Philliber, Julie Boudreaux, Sherri Crepinsek, Lori Webster, Tim Mills and Kathryn Minter, Aric Pringle, and Seth Polzin; 13 great grandchildren, Douglas Scott, Johannah and Jeremiah Olson, Amber and Michael Philliber, Emily and John Boudreaux, Sean and Jackson Mills, Morgan Philliber, Kylie Minter, Sophia Webster, and Chloe Crepinsek; two sisters, Burnice Bjork and Helen Williams, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Wallace, Arnold and Marvin Henrikson; one sister, Ruby Wirts; and a great-grandson, Richard Olson.

Lillian Grace Goetsch, daughter of William and Grace (Kettlehut) Goetsch, was born January 24, 1926 in Stickney, SD. As an infant she moved with her family to Mitchell, SD where she grew up and received her education. She moved to Chicago, IL in 1942.
Lillian was united in marriage with Milton Hildebrandt in Chicago on June 1, 1944. They moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1951. She worked as a barber from 1969 until retiring in 1991.
Lillian was a member of Faith Temple Church. She was an avid reader and especially cherished the time she spent with her family.

Bernard Leroy Garry, son of Joseph and Wilma (Norder) Garry, was born September 24, 1923 in Bridgewater, SD. He grew up there and graduated from Bridgewater High School. Bernard entered the U.S. Marine Corps on September 25, 1942 and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on May 16, 1946.
Bernard was united in marriage with Margaret E. Christensen on February 12, 1947 in Montrose, SD. They moved to Harrisburg, SD in 1956. Bernard worked at the Farmer’s Co-op (later known as Eastern Farmer’s Co-op) before retiring after nearly 40 years of service.
Bernard was a charter member of Holy Spirit Church. He was a member of the Harrisburg American Legion and the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department. Bernard also enjoyed golfing and watching local sporting events.

Rowland F. "Pudge" Robinson

Rowland F. “Pudge” Robinson, son of Edward and Myrtle (Major) Robinson, was born November 8, 1918 in Richmond, VA. As a child he moved with his family to Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated from Washington High School in 1939. He then worked for a time at Schletz Paint.
Rowland was united in marriage with Betty Muxfelt in Sioux Falls on November 23, 1940. They lived in Sioux Falls, where he began work at John Morrell and Company in May of 1942. The family moved to Brandon, SD in 1960. Rowland retired as a foreman in the beef cut and ship department at Morrell’s in December of 1980. He then worked part-time at Myrl and Roy’s Paving for several years. The couple moved back to Sioux Falls in 2000.
Rowland was a member of Brandon Lutheran Church. He was a good storyteller and had a great sense of humor. He especially cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Belle C. Rollings, daughter of Nick and Rose (Hansen) Schnieider, was born March 31, 1908 in Alton, IA. She grew up in Wilmont, MN, and received her education at Worthington School District.
She was united in marriage to Harold O. Rollings on October 9, 1935 in St. Kilian, Mn. Belle was a homemaker and a mother of nine children. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, camping and fishing, and was a meticulous housekeeper. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
