An April 13, 2002 wedding is planned for 2 p.m. at Cokesbury College.

GREENWOOD — Mr. and Mrs. Steven M. Alexander announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Lynne Alexander of Greenwood, to Jason Allan Werts of Ninety Six.
The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Emerald High School. She will graduate in December 2002 from Winthrop University. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and is studying social work. She is on the Student Advisory Board to the Dean.
The bridegroom-elect is the son of Allan and Lee Ann Werts of Ninety Six. He is a 1998 graduate of Ninety Six High School. He will graduate in May 2002 from Gardner-Webb University. He is studying physical education.
A May 18, 2002 wedding is planned for 4 p.m. at Abney Memorial Baptist Church.

SALUDA — Randall and Sue Leopard announce the engagement of their son, Kenneth Brent Leopard of Saluda, to Angela Christine Derr of Laurens.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Steve and Debra Derr of Lewisberry, Pa. She is a 1999 graduate of Millersville University and is employed by Laurens School District 55.
The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of Pat Leopard of Saluda. He is a 1996 graduate of Saluda High School and a 2000 graduate of Lander University. He is employed by Laurens School District 55.
A June 1, 2002 wedding is planned at Hopewell Holiness Church.

PLUM BRANCH — Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Jones announce the engagement of their daughter, Lee Anne Jones of Charleston, to Jason Douglas Hodges, also of Charleston.
The bride-elect is a 1995 graduate of Long Cane Academy in McCormick, a 1999 graduate of Clemson University and attends the Medical University of South Carolina in the physician assistant program.
The bridegroom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny D. Hodges of Oviedo, Fla. He is a 1994 graduate of Beavercreek High School in Ohio, a 1999 graduate of Valencia Community College in Orlando, Fla., and attends Sea School, where he is pursuing his master captain’s license.
He is employed by Knight Enterprises of Mt. Pleasant as a first mate on the offshore fishing vessel “Carolina Clipper.”
A May 11, 2002 wedding is planned at McCormick First Baptist Church.

GREENWOOD — Mattie Lee-Duncan of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Willie “Will-Buck” DeVaux Jr. of Abbeville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lillie Mae Wideman of Greenwood, to Edward Lyons of Honea Path.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Maggie DeVaux of Abbeville, the late Willie DeVaux Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank. She is a 1980 graduate of McCormick High School and is employed with Milliken-Sharon Plant as a technician.
The bridegroom-elect is the son of Essie Bell Lyons of Honea Path and the late Edward Eddie Lyons. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Paul and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Lyons. He is a 1984 graduate of Dixie High School and is employed with Goodman Conveyor of Belton.
An Aug. 17, 2002 wedding is planned for 4 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church. A reception will be at the National Guard Armory in Abbeville after the ceremony.
Family and friends are invited to attend.

GREENWOOD — Zonya Alyson Brown and Kevin John Helms, both of Greenwood, were married during a 2 p.m. ceremony Saturday at Westside Baptist Church. The Revs. Hal Lane of Greenwood and Randal Runion of Midway Baptist Church in Kershaw officiated.
Wedding music was presented by Melissa Tarleton of Ninety Six and Richard Loper, Larry Freeland and Susan Walton, all of Greenwood.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Brown of McCormick and the late John William Brown. She is a graduate of Long Cane Academy and Charzanne Cosmetology. She is employed by Ray’s Hair Fashion and is a Redken performing artist.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. Helms Jr. of Kershaw. He is a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and Francis Marion University. He is employed by Enterprise Car Rental.
Tracy Wood of Greenwood was maid of honor. Stephanie Willbanks of Greenwood was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Holly Helms of Clemson, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, and Cherlyn Bandy of McCormick, cousin of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was the bride’s niece, Mallory Brown of McCormick. Darby Brown of McCormick was flower girl.
Escorted by her stepfather, the bride wore a formal, sleeveless princess floor-length gown of white Italian satin, featuring a round neckline and a bodice that was embellished with embroidered lace, adorned with scattered pearls and crystal sequins and edged with a double row of pearls. Self-covered buttons accented the back of the bodice. The gown also featured a cathedral train.
She wore matching elbow-length gloves and a crown of pearls attached to a double-tiered fingertip veil of illusion.
She carried a hand-tied bouquet of mixed wild flowers.
Attendants wore formal gowns of apple crepe back satin, in designs of each attendant’s choice, and carried hand-tied bouquets of mixed wild flowers.
The bridegroom’s father was best man. Groomsmen were Troy Helms of Clemson, brother of the bridegroom, and Rodney Brown of McCormick and Eric Brown of Tampa, Fla., brothers of the bride.
Luke Myers of Greenwood was ringbearer and junior groomsman.
The bride’s parents were hosts at a reception at the church social hall.
The couple will live in Greenwood.

DUE WEST — Mr. and Mrs. Mauldin Boswell and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Shirley announce the engagement of their daughter, Reagan Ann Shirley, to Matthew Vardon Cox.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ray Smith of Donalds and Mrs. Ray Shirley of Honea Path. She is a graduate of Dixie High School and a 1999 graduate of Clemson University. She is a member of The Due West Lions Club and is employed by Ware Shoals School District 51 as a seventh grade teacher at Ware Shoals High School.
The bridegroom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vardon Cox of Donalds and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Smith of Rock Hill. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. “Hoss” Nesbitt of Rock Hill. He is a graduate of Dixie High School and a 1994 graduate of Erskine College. He is employed by the Donalds-Due West Water & Sewer Authority.
A June 1, 2002 wedding is planned for 6:30 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church in Abbeville.

GREENWOOD — Jan Goldman and Stanley Joe Johnson, both of Calhoun Falls, were married during a 3 p.m. ceremony Saturday at Northside Baptist Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Jeff Lethco officiated.
Wedding music was presented by organist Kay DeBlaey, pianist Ann Brewer and vocalist Thea Goldman, all of Greenwood.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Goldman of Greenwood. She is a graduate of Greenwood High School and Piedmont Tech. She is a volunteer paramedic with the Calhoun Falls Rescue Squad and is employed by the Greenwood Emergency Medical Service as a paramedic.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson of Elberton, Ga. He is a graduate of Elbert County High School and Piedmont Tech. He is a volunteer paramedic and assistant chief with the Calhoun Falls Rescue Squad. He is employed by Honeywell Corporation in Elberton.
Maids of honor were Kelly Rae Capps, the bride’s daughter, and Shellie Suzanne Dalton, both of Calhoun Falls.
Matrons of honor were Amy Beth Johnson of Calhoun Falls, the bridegroom’s daughter-in-law, and Kristie Lynn Capps of Okinawa, Japan, the bride’s daughter-in-law.
Honor attendants were Marie Dixon, Claudia Riddle, Lynn Barnes, Margaret Quarles and Sharon Fortney.
Ashton Drake Johnson, the bridegroom’s granddaughter, was flower girl.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white Italian satin, featuring a sweetheart neckline, short sleeves overlayed with French illusion and accented with seeded pearls and a fitted bodice that was encrusted with seed pearls and crystals on Alencon lace. The basque waistline extended into a full ballgown skirt that was accented in the back with handmade rosettes centered with a pearl spray. The semi-cathedral train featured beaded Madeira cutout lace.
She wore a Diana crown headpiece, featuring a pearl spray that matched the gown, rosettes in the back and a shoulder-length veil.
She carried a bouquet of silk mauve roses, pink Easter roses, white gardenia and pink daylilies accented with greenery and strands of pearls with burgundy and white ribbon. The bouquet was carried in honor of her son, SSgt. Travis John Capps, who was unable to attend. He is stationed in Okinawa on active duty, 3rd Recon in the Marine Corps. A picture of her son was fixed inside the bouquet.
Attendants wore sleeveless burgundy gowns, featuring lace overlay on the tops and burgundy velvet floor-length skirts. They carried bouquets of mauve roses, pink daylilies and pink Queen Anne’s lace accented with greenery. The flower girl carried a basket of mauve roses.
Best men were Clinton Joseph Johnson and Christopher John Johnson of Calhoun Falls, sons of the bridegroom.
Groomsmen were Jacob Adam Driver of Elberton and the bride’s nephew, George Bennett Rambo III of Greenwood.
Miniature groomsmen were Colton Joseph Johnson of Calhoun Falls, the bridegroom’s grandson, and Sethan Drake Capps of Okinawa, the bride’s grandson.
Braydon Lance Capps of Okinawa, also grandson of the bride, was ringbearer.
Jamie Ann Rambo and Michelle Elizabeth Rambo kept the guest book and distributed programs.
The rehearsal dinner and the reception took place at the church’s social hall.
After a wedding trip off the South Carolina coast, the couple will live in Calhoun Falls.

ROCK HILL — Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thomas Smith of Lugoff and Mr. and Mrs. David Erskine Tillman of Duluth, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Paige Elliott Tillman of Rock Hill, to Joseph Scott Cooper, also of Rock Hill.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Esther Burch Tillman of Lancaster and the late Dozier Tillman; Alice Bennett Elliott of Camden and the late Lewis Coker Elliott; and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Smith of Cassatt. She is a graduate of Lander University, where she received a bachelor of arts degree. She is employed by Carroll Foods.
The bridegroom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Elliot Cooper of Calhoun Falls and the late Donna Scott Cooper. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Rayford Scott Sr. of Abbeville and Faye Burdette Cooper of Calhoun Falls and the late Joseph Elliot Cooper. He attended Piedmont Tech. and is employed by Cato Corporation in Charlotte, N.C., in the traffic department.
A May 4, 2002 wedding is planned at Lyttleton Street Methodist Church in Camden.

MCCORMICK — Pamela Willis Jennings of McCormick and Richard Keith Balser of Ninety Six were married during a 3 p.m. ceremony Feb. 16, 2002 at Savannah Lakes Marina Resort. Judge Don Neal officiated.
Wedding music was presented by Katy Taylor of Aiken.
The bride is the daughter of Thomas D. Willis and Janice R. Hardy. She is a graduate of Long Cane Academy and received a degree in nursing from Piedmont Tech.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sanders and Ottie Balser. He is a graduate of Ninety Six High School.
Lisa Willis of McCormick was maid of honor.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an off-the-shoulder, full ivory gown that was detailed with beads and lace.
The bride’s daughter, Brooke Jennings, stood with her during the ceremony.
Jason Balser of Virginia was best man.
The couple visited Las Vegas for their wedding trip. They live in McCormick.

The bridegroom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Edgar Crisp of Rock Hill. He is a graduate of Northwestern High School and Clemson University. He is employed by Kemet Electronics in Simpsonville.
A May 25, 2002 wedding is planned for 3 p.m. at Troy United Methodist Church.

Wedding music was presented by vocalist Angela Powers of Columbia and Louis Shirer of Cayce.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Levy “Ted” Wyndham of Greenwood. She is a 1999 graduate of the University of South Carolina and is employed by Gov. Jim Hodges.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Leonard Strawhorn of Columbia. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of South Carolina and is employed by State Farm Insurance.
Kathryn Bell of Greenwood was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Angela Powers and Wyndi Green, both of Columbia, Brantlee Green and Hope West, both of Charlotte, N.C., Heather Milne of Atlanta, Cissy Reid of Greenville, Laura Black of Rock Hill and Melissa Jackson of Prosperity.
Breland Green and Cassidy Green, both of Columbia, were flower girls.
The bride wore a formal gown of ivory silk, featuring a portrait neckline, long sleeves enhanced with Chantilly lace and sequins and a fitted bodice. The back of the gown featured self-covered buttons and ribbon lacing.
She wore a floral wreath that was adorned with pearls and ivory and rum-pink satin roses and attached to a cathedral veil of illusion. She carried a clutch bouquet of white and blush stem-wrapped roses.
Attendants wore mock, two-piece gowns of champagne satin, featuring fitted bodices and A-line, full-length skirts. The front necklines and backs featured chiffon panels. They carried nosegays of white roses and daisies.
Tony Strawhorn of Irmo was best man. Groomsmen were Michael Strawhorn, Donovan Harrison and Hance Jones, all of Irmo, Cameron Runyan of Columbia, Jenks Patrick of Augusta, Ga., Jamey Bradham of Richmond, Va., Kevin Futch of Rock Hill and Jay Jackson of Prosperity.
Ushers were Davis Powers and John Green, both of Columbia, and Mike Green of Charlotte.
Spencer Green and Layton Powers, both of Columbia, were ringbearers.
The bride’s parents were hosts at a reception at the Greenwood Country Club.
After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will live in Irmo.

PROSPERITY — Karen Lynn Boland and Giles Art Burgess were married during a 5 p.m. ceremony March 23, 2002 at St. Mark Lutheran Church. The Rev. Pastor Bill Ebener officiated.
Wedding music was presented by pianist Louise Chapman and vocalist Megan Anderson.
The bride is the daughter of Marie and Jimmie Boland of Saluda. She is the granddaughter of Leona Brown and Estelle Boland, also of Saluda.
The bridegroom is the son of Joyce and Bobby Matthews of Hope Mills, N.C., and Ila and Gene Burgess of Greenwood. He is the grandson of Marian Johnson of Hope Mills.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a satin A-line gown, featuring a V-back, a bodice appliqued with souttach ribbon and pearls and a chapel train. The skirt and back of the train were adorned with souttach ribbon appliques and ribbon roses. She wore a shoulder-length veil trimmed with satin.
Malinda Graham of Augusta, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Michelle Tyson of North Carolina, the bridegroom’s sister, Lille Rinehart, Bobbie Satterfield, Windy Rushton, Jennifer Fortanbery and Erica Rikard.
Christopher Clem of Greenwood was best man. Groomsmen were Ronald Boland, the bride’s brother, Eddie Burgess and Bryan Burgess, brothers of the bridegroom, Rick Landrith, Stacy Johnson and James Hughes.
The bridegroom was host of a rehearsal dinner at The Coffee & Dessert Co. in Greenwood.
There was a reception at The Barn Loft in Saluda.
After a wedding trip to Aruba, the couple will live in Ninety Six.

Wedding music was presented by organist Keith Mills Polatty, pianist Elaine Gossett Keeler, vocalists Rebecca Minor Sumerel and Keith Mills Polatty and trumpeter Timothy Bivens, all of Greenwood.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Emerson Bozard of Greenwood. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ben Tillman Lindler and the late Mr. and Mrs. William David Bozard Sr. She is a graduate of Clemson University and the University of South Carolina, where she received a master’s degree. She is employed by Lexington District One as a teacher for gifted and talented students.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Oran Kinard Sr. of Little Mountain. He is the grandson of Mrs. Cyril Edson Williams of Little Mountain and the late Mr. Williams and Mrs. Ernest Oran Kinard of Pomaria and the late Mr. Kinard. He is a graduate of The Citadel and the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala., where he received a master’s degree. He is a teacher and coach for Lexington District One.
Barbara Bozard Rheney of Greenville was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Gloria Ann Gambrell of Columbia, Kay Kennedy Hendrix and Brenda Boozer Nichols, both of Lexington, Jill Herin Warner of Greenwood and Alison Kinard White of Pomaria.
Rebecca Lynn Rheney of Greenville was flower girl.
The bride wore a formal gown of white silk satin featuring an off-the-shoulder portrait neckline and a fitted princess bodice trimmed with handbeaded French Alencon lace that was embellished with clusters of pearls and opalescent sequins. Matching beaded appliques accented the box pleats of the full ballroom skirt and the cathedral train.
She wore a tiara of pearls attached to a double-tiered veil of French silk illusion and carried a hand-tied bouquet of white stock, tulips, pale pink spray roses and English ivy.
Attendants wore formal, two-piece gowns of Bahama-blue pea de soie, featuring bateau necklines trimmed with iridescent beading, self-covered buttons at the back and side slits in the long, straight skirts.
They carried hand-tied bouquets of white stock accented with soft pink tulips.
The flower girl wore a formal, sleeveless gown of white matte satin, featuring a jewel neckline adorned with rhinestones and crystal beads and a full gathered skirt. Self-covered buttons adorned the back of the bodice.
The bridegroom’s father was best man.
Groomsmen were William Wightman Braddy Jr. of Myrtle Beach, Lowell Edwin Dowd and Scott Lee White, both of Pomaria, Jonathon Scott Jeffords of Florence, Theodore David Rheney of Greenville and Christopher Lance Still of Columbia.
The bride’s parents were hosts of a reception at Greenwood Country Club.
After a wedding trip to the Caribbean, the couple will live in Lexington.
