GREENWOOD – Julia Kathryn Whitmire and Joe Douglas Benjamin II, both of Greenwood, were married during a 2 p.m. ceremony Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church by Dr. John Wall of Greenwood, church pastor.
Wedding music was presented by the Rev. John Glick, and Samantha Whitmire, the bride’s niece.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Whitmire of Greenwood. A graduate of Cambridge Academy, she graduated from Erskine College with a bachelor’s degree. She is a teacher of history and girls’ soccer coach at Greenwood High School.
The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Frances Benjamin and the late Joe Douglas Benjamin Sr. A graduate of Greenwood High School, he received an associate degree from Piedmont Technical College, and a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University. He is the owner of Benjamin’s Design/Build, LLC.
Sherry Mitchell-French was maid of honor.
Stephanie Whitmire and Bradi Whitmire, the bride’s nieces, were flower girls.
The bride, escorted down the aisle by her father, wore a two-piece, formal gown of silk crepe back satin and chiffon. Caviar beading and spaghetti straps enhanced the fitted bodice. The A-line, floor-length skirt was accented with an enhanced overlay.
Jim Steverson of Greenwood was best man.
Ushers were Tripp Whitmire of Greenwood, and John Whitmire of Greenville, brothers of the bride.
The bride’s parents were hosts at a dinner for the wedding party at Regan’s Restaurant in Uptown Greenwood.
After a wedding trip to New England, the couple will live in Greenwood.

WILSON-RICHARDS

DONALDS – Mr. and Mrs. Donald “Pete” Wilson of Donalds announce the engagement of their son, Donald Eugene Wilson Jr., to Carrie Ann Richards.
The bride-elect of Bridgman, Mich. is the daughter of the late Pete and Terry Richards. She graduated from Moore County High School in Lynchburg, Va. in 1990. She is a work-record specialist at the DC Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman.
The bridegroom-elect of Donalds graduated from Dixie High School in Due West in 1982 and from Clemson University in 1993 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He is employed with the DC Cook Nuclear Plant.
The wedding is planned for Aug. 18, 2001 in Bridgman.

SEATTLE, Wash. – Robin Michelle Cervenka of Coronado, Calif., and Dr. Ryan Cory Maves of Winthrop, Wash., were married during a 4:30 p.m. ceremony Friday in Seattle.
The bride, formerly of Greenwood, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Cervenka of Greenwood. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in nursing and from Lander University with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is a member of the nursing faculty at San Diego State University.
The bridegroom is the son of Dr. Robert Maves, Terry Karro, Jim Maguire and Linda Maguire, all of Washington. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine with a doctor of medicine degree. He is a flight surgeon with the U.S. Navy.
Marcella Evans of Greenwood was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Erica Cervenka, Lori Anne Tunstall, both of Greenwood, and Lisa Schwelling of Atlanta.
Ashley Fallow of Greenwood was a junior bridesmaid.
Kirsten Moore of Greenwood was flower girl.
The bride wore a formal gown of natural matte satin and silk organza. The bodice of matte satin featured a sheer yoke and was enhanced with swirls of pearl beading. The drop waistline flowed into a full skirt of silk organza. A biased border of matte satin encircled the hemline and chapel-length train.
Her cathedral-length veil of ivory illusion featured satin accents.
The attendants wore formal gowns of black crepe chiffon featuring a sheer yoke at the neckline and A-line skirts.
The junior bridesmaid wore a formal gown of ivory organza featuring a sleeveless satin bodice topping a full organza skirt. Floral schiffli embroidery adorned the waistline and bordered the hemline.
The flower girl wore a gown of ivory organza featuring a tank top embellished with a hand-beaded lace overlay. Satin ribbon accents adorned the hemline of the floor-length skirt, matching the bride’s. Dr. Matthew Jaffy of Denver, Colo., was best man.
Groomsmen were Brenden Maves of Bozeman, Mont., Dr. Mark Koenen of Seattle, Jared Phillips of Eugene, Ore., and 1st Lt. David Roen of Clarkston, Wash.
Ushers were Adam Cervenka of Greenwood and James Maguire III of Spokane, Wash.
Peter Evans and Gage Cervenka, both of Greenwood, were ringbearers.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Daughter of the American Revolution House.
After a wedding trip to Spain and Portugal, the couple will live in Jacksonville, Fla.

GREENWOOD – Lisa Marie Koon of Hodges and David Mark Alewine of Abbeville, were married during a 3 p.m. ceremony July 21 at Harris Baptist Church in Greenwood by the Rev. J.R. Alewine, the bridegroom’s grandfather, assisted by Robert Tommy Alewine of Abbeville, the bridegroom’s father.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Koon of Hodges. She graduated from Dixie High School in Due West and plans to enter Lander University this fall to pursue a graduate and undergraduate degree in elementary education.
The bridegroom is also the son of Mrs. Tommy Alewine of Abbeville. He graduated from Dixie High School. He is a mechanic with A&P Automotive.
Tonya K. Lynch of Donalds, the bride’s sister, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Sheila Pressley, Nancy Dukes, Kara Johnson, Anna Fleming and Jessica Snelling. Taylor Lynch, the bride’s niece, was flower girl.
Keith Alewine, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man.
Groomsmen were Brent Lynch, Troy Pressley, Jason Ashley, Bryan Farley and Dennis McCoy.
Drake Sorrows, the bridegroom’s cousin, was ringbearer.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Inn on the Square.
After a wedding trip to Edisto Island, the couple are living in Abbeville.

NINETY SIX – Ashley Leigh Griffin and Larry Craig Walker, both of Ninety Six, were married during a 6 p.m. ceremony Saturday at Siloam Baptist Church by the Rev. Steven Crittendon of Ninety Six.
Wedding music was presented by Jeff Sargent of Ninety Six, Karen Traynham of Waterloo, Jane Calhoun of Greenwood, organist, and the bridegroom’s mother, Sue Walker of Ninety Six.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Griffin of 2622 Old Highway 246 South in Ninety Six. She graduated from Ninety Six High School in 1996 and from Piedmont Technical College in 1999 with an associates degree in accounting. She is a collections officer for the City of Greenwood.
The bridegroom is also the son of Paul Walker of 5906 Highway 246 South in Ninety Six. He graduated from Ninety Six High School in 1995 and is currently a student at Lander University. He is employed with Craig Acres Farm.
Michelle Waites of Greenwood was maid of honor.
Melanie Matthews of Ware Shoals was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Wendy Phillips, Tasha Rushton, both of Greenwood, Amanda Chapman of Charleston, and Kelly Lein of Honea Path.
Samantha Lein of Honea Path was flower girl. The bride wore a formal, princess-style gown of ivory dulciana satin enhanced with rum pink accents. The skirt was highlighted with a cathedral-length, detachable train encrusted at the hemline with beads and sequins with matching jeweled accents forming an apron-effect in back.
Her waist-length veil of ivory illusion was caught by a comb enhanced with rum pink satin accents. The attendants wore formal, sleeveless gowns of Victorian lilac dulciana satin featuring an empire waistline and matching chiffon overlay. Spaghetti straps enhanced the bodice.
Paul Walker was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Chris Turner of Asheville, Chad Griffin of Honea Path, the bride’s brother, Marion Turner, Jeff Milam and John Milam, all of Ninety Six.
Ushers were Kevin Boiter, Dale Ashley, Tim Griffin, all of Ninety Six, and Mike Holliday of Greenwood, the bride’s uncles.
Jayden Walker of Ninety Six was ringbearer.
The bride’s parents were hosts for a reception at the church.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will live at 103 Liberty St. in Ninety Six.

SANDES, Norway – Leah Anne Holmes and Kristian Tjemsland, both of Dunmurry, Northern Ireland, were married during a 4 p.m. ceremony July 21, 2001 at Grand Church in Sandes, Norway by the Rev. Kjell Borge Tjemsland of Sandnes, the bridegroom’s father.
The bride, formerly of Greenwood, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Steven Larry Holmes of 111 Hagood Road in Greenwood. She graduated from Faith Academy in Manila, Philippines in 1998 and attended Capernwray Bible School in Carnsforth, England. She is a student at Belfast Bible College in Dunmurry.
The bridegroom is also the son of Mrs. Kjell Borge Tjemsland of Sandnes. He is a student at Belfast Bible College in Dunmurry.
Lainee Stumbo of Greenwood was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Anna Holmes of Greenwood, the bride’s sister, Mary Green of Ware Shoals and Torunn Tjemsland of Sandnes.
The bride wore a formal gown of white dulciana satin featuring two overlays of matching organza. The strapless empire bodice was enhanced with alternating bands of ivory Venice lace and braid. Matching lace accents asymmetrically bordered the wrap-around skirt and hemline which flowed into a chapel-length train. An organza stole, edged in Venice lace, completed the ensemble. Her two-tiered veil was of white illusion.
The attendants wore tea-length gowns of periwinkle blue or celery green satin. The fitted bodices featured spaghetti straps. A wide band of platinum satin accented the skirt hemlines.
They carried bouquets of calla lillies.
Trond Arne Rob of Sandnes was best man.
A reception was held at Strandleiren in Sola, Norway.

SALUDA – Leslie Rebecca Rushton of Ninety Six and Jason Lynn Rodgers of Ridge Spring were married during a 6 p.m. ceremony Saturday at Good Hope Baptist Church in Saluda the Rev.Vernon Ball of Saluda.
Wedding music was presented by Iris Riddle and Will Riddle, vocalists, both of Saluda.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Leslie Rushton of 422 Pheasant Road in Ninety Six.
She graduated from Ninety Six High School. She is a student at Lander University.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Rodgers of Ward. He is a graduate of Ridge Spring High School and a 1999 graduate of Clemson University. He is farm manager at Titan Peach Farms Inc. Laurie Turnblom of Ninety Six was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Joshlyn Neal of Ninety Six, Jennifer McGee, Stacie Goff, both of Saluda, and Karen Rodgers of Ward.
Candice Rodgers of Ward was a junior bridesmaid.
McKayla Metts of Ninety Six was flower girl.
Ryan Goff of Saluda was best man.
Groomsmen were Zack Tolley, Andy Rodgers, both of Ward, Jeremy Clark, Brock White, Chad Hendrix, Zach Metts and Ashley Rushton, both of Ninety Six.
Junior groomsmen was Andrew Rodgers of Ward.
Chalmers Carr of Ridge Spring was ringbearer.
A reception was at the Civic Center in Ridge Spring.
After a wedding cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will live at 719 Old Plank Road in Ridge Spring.

GREENWOOD – Tammie Renee` Morse of Greenwood and Odell Sergio White of Hodges were married during a 5 p.m. ceremony July 7, 2001 at Young’s Chapel Baptist Church in Greenwood by Rev. W.W. Henderson of Piedmont and Rev. Bernard White of Greenwood.
Wedding music was presented Visions of Greenwood, vocalists, Calvin Gary and Harry Abrams, both of Newberry.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Morse of 203 Cole St. in Greenwood. She is a 1989 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1993 graduate of Lander University. She is a member of Young’s Chapel Baptist Church, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She is a teacher of English at Greenwood High School.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward White Sr. of Hodges. He is a 1991 graduate of Greenwood High School. He is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Coronaca, owner of Odell’s Lawn Care Service, and is a technician with Cutler-Hammer.
Sharon and Pamela Morse of Greenwood were maids of honor.
Honorary attendants were Laquitta Payne, Stacy White, both of Hodges, Omega Smith, Hazel Morse Heard and Annette Walker, all of Ninety Six.
Delvonna White and Danielle Donaldson, both of Greenwood, were flower girls.
The bride wore a formal gown of white satin and tulle. Tiny embroidered pearls enhanced the waistline and skirt.
Her veil of white tulle was caught by a tiara.
The attendants wore formal gowns of black velvet featuring a deep V back accented with a white chiffon drape.
Tyrone Harris of Hodges was best man.
Groomsmen were Kim White, Steven Morse, Edward White Jr., all of Greenwood, Anthony White of Belton and Kendrick Payne of Hodges.
Daniel O’Neal Donaldson of Greenwood was ringbearer.
A reception was at the church.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, the couple are living at 111 Cottonwood St. in Greenwood.

GREENWOOD – Erin Elizabeth Pigg and Kevin Michael McManus, both of Columbia, were married during a 7 p.m. ceremony Saturday at Main Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Jenkins,
church pastor.
Wedding music was presented by the Anderson String Quartet. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Pigg of Greenwood. An honor graduate of Cambridge Academy, she graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree where she was named to the Dean’s List. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority (Tri-Delta).
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold McManus of Lancaster. He graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton with a bachelor of science degree and from the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in business administration. He is a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He is an accountant in the Assurance and Advisory Services Group of Price Waterhouse Coopers in Charlotte.
Carmen Harper of Columbia was maid of honor.
Mrs. Karl S. Long III of Charlotte, the bride’s aunt, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Margaret Lanford, Ann McCormick, Carter Mullinax, all of Columbia, Mary Andrews Self of Greenwood, and Anna Miller of Charlotte.
Rachel Dantzler of Birmingham, and Caroline McManus of Columbia, the bridegroom’s nieces, were flower girls.
The bride wore a formal, strapless gown of ivory satin. Pearls and floral appliques adorned the fitted bodice topping a full, gathered skirt flowing into a chapel-length train. Matching opera-length gloves completed the ensemble.
Her fingertip-length veil of illusion was caught by a headpiece embellished with pearls.
The attendants wore formal, strapless gowns of navy satin. Matching opera-length gloves completed the ensemble. They carried arm bouquets of mixed hydrangeas, iris, lavenders, enhanced with accents of pinks, creams, yellows, ribbons and butterflies. Harold McManus was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Kenneth McManus, Zachery Thomas, both of Columbia, Julian Lane III, of Tampa, Fla., Brent Hedin of Spartanburg, Matthew Pigg and Michael Pigg, both of Greenwood.
Jonathan Turner Long of Charlotte, the bride’s cousin, was ring bearer.
The bride’s parents were hosts for a reception at the Greenwood Country Club with Black Tie Affair entertaining.
After a wedding trip to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, the couple will live in Charlotte.

CASTRILLON-GIBSON

GREENWOOD – William D. and Carolyn Butler of 122 Portsmouth Road in Greenwood announce the engagement of their son, Alexis Kinsey Gibson, to Wendy D. Castrillon.
The bride-elect of Belmar, N.J. is the daughter of Jorge` Ignacio Castrillon and Judith Ellen Castrillon of Belmar. She graduated from Ann May School of Nursing in New Jersey. She is a registered nurse with CrossCountry TravCorps.
The bridegroom-elect of Greenwood attended Piedmont Technical College and Lander University. He is employed with the Office Supply Center in Greenwood.
The wedding is planned for Oct. 1, 2001 aboard The Grand Princess at Sea in the Eastern Caribbean.
