AUGUSTA, Ga. — Jennifer Anne Hughes and Dennis Edward Martin, both of Augusta, were married at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19, 2001 at the Murray Plantation on Edisto Island.
The Rev. Pierce Norman of Appling, Ga., and the Rev. Dr. G. Daniel McCall of Augusta officiated.
Wedding music was presented by The Charleston Chamber Players and The Plantation Singers of Charleston.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wayne Hughes of Augusta and Lincolnton, Ga., and Edisto Island.Mrs. Hughes is formerly of Greenwood.
She is the granddaughter of Mrs. James Calvin McNeill of Greenwood and the late Mr. McNeill, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Albert Hughes and Mrs. Zane Kofford of North Augusta.
The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Sara Cook Martin of Augusta and the late Bobby Dennis Martin.
He is the grandson of Mr. Francis Edward Cook of Augusta and the late Mrs. Cook and Marie Martin Gilson of Reynolds, Ga., and the late Thomas Beeland Martin.
Mrs. Jerry Brian Montgomery of Augusta, the bride’s cousin, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Daniel Gregory Harper of Athens, Ga., the bridegroom’s sister, Mrs. Lucio Antonio DiCicco of Atlanta, Mrs. Jeffery Phillip Goldstein of Charleston, Beverly Jordan Snyder of Columbia, Lisa Anne Kingery, Mrs. Thomas Everett McBride, Mrs. Rodney Shane Storer and Mrs. John William Thornton V, all of Augusta.
Flower girls were Mary Martin Harper of Athens, the bridegroom’s niece, Cassie Lee Hughes of Atlanta and Briana Greer Daniel of Greenwood.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a candlelight silk satin gown adorned with platinum medallion embroidery at the bust and encircling the hemline.
Her flared skirt flowed from the strapless fitted bodice at the waist into a chapel-length train.
She wore a covered comb attached to a fingertip veil of double illusion.
She carried a hand-tied dome shaped bouquet of Leonidas roses, and an lace handkerchief that belonged to her late grandmother.
Attendants wore periwinkle blue dresses of matte satin. The gowns featured strapless bodices, empire waists embellished with a crystal buckle, and full-length A-line skirts.
They carried hand-tied English bouquets of sunflowers, fashion roses, blue delphiniums, and orange and yellow alstromeria with sheer periwinkle ribbon streamers.
The flower girls wore ankle length white cotton Strasburg dresses featuring square collars trimmed in natural cotton lace and short, full sleeves gathered with satin ribbons.
They scattered rose petals from white wicker baskets lined with Battenburg linen as they walked down the aisle.
Rodney Shane Storer of Augusta was best man.
Groomsmen were Kenneth Anthony Masters of Statesboro, Ga., the bride’s brother, Daniel Gregory Harper of Athens, the bridegroom’s brother-in-law, John Joseph Czura III and Wade Howell Strozier of Atlanta, Griffin Llewellyn Gideon of Charlotte, N.C., Philip Laurence Hull of Rock Hill, Thomas Everett McBride of Augusta, and William Campbell King Mueller of New York, N.Y.
Ushers were Brannon Tyler Daniel of Greenwood, Jeremiah Taylor Masters and Joshua Anthony Masters, both of Statesboro, and Alex Graham Tatum II of Griffin, Ga.
Guest book/gift table attendants were Sara Kathryn and Margaret Tatum, of Griffin, and Jamie Morgan Hughes of Atlanta, all cousins of the bride.
Flowers were placed in the church in memory of the bridegroom’s father and the bride and bridegroom’s grandparents.
The couple took a wedding trip to Maroma Beach, Mexico and now live in Augusta.

Barbara T. Jones and Frank H. Crenshaw, both of Greenwood, were married at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Promise Land Community.
Pastor James Speed Sr. of Piedmont and the Rev. William Moore of Greenwood officiated.
Wedding music was provided by organist Sandra Norman of Greenwood and vocalists Tamiko C. Jones of Arlington, Texas and Larry Faison of Greenwood, and soloist Darryl Collier of Greer.
The bride is the daughter of Mary H. Thompson of Ninety Six and the late Jesse Thompson.
She is employed by Greenwood Sports and Industrial Rehab.
The bridegroom is the son of the late Daved and Amanda H. Crenshaw.
He is employed by Grede Foundries.
Tamiko C. Jones of Arlington, Texas, the bride’s daughter, was maid of honor.
Cynthia Blocker of Greenwood, the bride’s sister, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Hattie Jackson, Tarnya Wright and Pernola Barr, the bridegroom’s sister, all of Greenwood and Hope Jones of Florence, the bride’s daughter-in-law, Bobby Jean Holloway, the bride’s cousin, Betty Thompson, the bride’s sister-in-law, and Barbara Conway, all of Ninety Six.
U’Kewl Reynolds and Janila Crenshaw, both of Greenwood, were flower girls.
The bride wore a sleeveless gown of matte satin in ivory featuring a square neckline.
Flowers accented with tiny seed pearls and sequins adorned the bustline and back. The natural waistline and box pleated skirt flowed into a chapel train.
She wore a headpiece of miniature roses and pearls attached to a waist length veil made by her aunt Runette Abrams.
She carried a cascading bouquet of burgundy and ivory roses enhanced with baby’s breath.
Attendants wore two-piece gowns of burgundy satin featuring square necklines, and a side knee-length split.
The gowns were also made by Runette Abrams.
Wilton Crenshaw of Greenwood, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man.
Groomsmen were Walter Carroll, Branson Robinson, Charles Childs, Harold Thompson, Gene Dandy, Robert Riley and Frank Brown, all of Greenwood, and William Robinson of Ninety Six.
Ushers were Daniel Donaldson of Greenwood, Jonathan Robinson of Abbeville and Clarence Jabber Jr. of Ninety Six.
Nicholas Stewart of Greenwood, the bridegroom’s grandson, was ringbearer.
The bride and groom were hosts of a reception following the ceremony.
After a wedding trip to Hendersonville, the couple will live in Greenwood.

Wedding music was presented by organist Joyce Nickles of Greenwood and soloist Libby Russell of Spartanburg.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Kenneth Manley of Greenwood.
She is a graduate of Furman University and is a sales representative at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Blanton of Spartanburg.
He is a graduate of Clemson University and is a sales representative at Mead Johnson Nutritionals.
Amy E. Moore of Columbia was matron of honor.
Haleigh Human of Greenwood was flower girl.
Louie Blanton of Spartanburg was best man.
A reception was given at the Carolina Country Club.
The couple plans a wedding trip to Jamaica.

The bride is the daughter of Janice D. Collins of Greenwood and the late Maxwell L. Collins.
She is a 1995 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 2000 graduate of Lander University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in English.
She is a technical support manager at Park Seed Company.
The bridegroom is the son of Stephen L. Sheets and Carolyn G. Sheets, both of Greenwood.
He is a 1997 graduate of Emerald High School and is employed as a network engineer with Park Seed Company.
Rebecca Harvey of Greenwood was maid of honor.
The bride wore a white satin, cap-sleeve gown featuring a sweetheart neckline.
The fitted bodice was enhanced with embroidered white roses and the A-line skirt was accented also with embroidered white roses that trimmed the hem of the chapel length train.
She wore a pearl and rhinestone headpiece attached to a double-tiered, elbow length tulle veil.
She carried a cascading bouquet of red and white roses.
Jacob Sheets of Greenwood was best man.
Neil Collins of Greenwood was usher.
The couple took a wedding trip to Asheville, N.C., and now live in Greenwood.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Moore of Alcoa, Tenn., and the granddaughter of Mrs. Malcom Lawson of Maryville, Tenn., and the late Mr. Lawson and the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Moore.
The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Howard Goodwin Jr. of Greenwood.
He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Howard Goodwin of North Palm Beach, Fla., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Royer Yoh.
Tina Stevens of Boiling Springs was maid of honor.
Julia King of Spartanburg was bridesmaid.
Honorary bridesmaids were Betty Sparks and Meleah Siltzer, both of Boiling Springs.
Junior bridesmaids were Meredith Carey of Tampa, Fla., and Sarah Davis of Houston, Texas.
Beverly Wilt of Tracy, Calif., was flower girl.
Peter Goodwin of Greenville, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man.
Dr. Richard Goodwin Jr. of Greenwood was groomsman.
Ushers were Jeff Atkins of Hunting Island and Brad Farmer of Clinton.
A reception was given at the Oakland House in Spartanburg.
After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will live in Spartanburg.
