GREENWOOD – Cynthia Kaye Gheen and James Leland Reed, both of Greenwood, were married during a 6 p.m. ceremony Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Rev. John H. White of Greenwood and Dr. Archie C. Reed of Winnsboro, the bridegroom’s father.
Sara Duvall of Seneca, organist, and John Cooper of Greenwood, trumpeter, presented the wedding music.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry W. Gheen of Waterloo. A graduate of Clinton High School, she graduated from Clemson University and from Lander University with a master’s degree. She is employed with Greenwood School District 50.
The bridegroom is also the son of Mrs. Archie C. Reed of Winnsboro. He graduated from Richard-Winn Academy, Winthrop University, and the United States Sports Academy with a master’s degree. He is employed with Greenwood School District 50.
Sheri Gheen Anderson of Aiken and Susan Gheen Vickery of Anderson, the bride’s sisters, were matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Andrea Martin Brailey of Gainesville, Ga., Amy Elizabeth Gregory of Greenwood and Teresa Horres Stone of Summerville.
Amber Corrine Reed of Winnsboro was flower girl.
The bride wore a formal, sleeveless gown of tulle featuring a jewel neckline with pearl accents. Alencon lace adorned with pearls and sequins accented the bodice. The full ballgown skirt was enhanced with satin ribbon accents at the hemline and fell into a semi-cathedral-length train.
Her fingertip length veil of illusion was caught by a headband adorned with pearls.The attendants wore formal gowns in heather satin. The A-line, full-length skirt was topped with a jeweled-neck bodice enhanced with beads.
Dr. Archie C. Reed was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were James Earl Nickles of Abbeville, Clarence McDuffie Brownlee and Christopher Patrick Johnston, both of Greenwood.
Michael Jacob Anderson and Robert Benjamin Anderson, both of Aiken, were junior groomsmen.
Ringbearer was Stephen Christopher Reed of Winnsboro.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Gatewood Club.
After a wedding trip to Aruba, the couple will live in Greenwood.

GREENWOOD – Holli Dale Hodges of Abbeville and Clint Thomas Grounsell of Mauldin were married during an 11 a.m. ceremony May 19, 2001 at Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Greenwood by the Rev. Alvin Hodges of Greenwood.
Wedding music was presented by Natali Lewis, Andy Johnson, Connie Herring, organist, all of Abbeville, and Joey Hughes of Simpsonville.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frankie Hodges of Abbeville. She attended Abbeville High School and Alpha School of Massage. She is employed with Cherished Child Daycare.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Grounsell of Mauldin. He attended Mauldin High School and Southwestern Community College. He is employed with the Abbeville Press and Banner.
Matrons of honor were Brandi Hodges Sears and Natali Hodges Lewis, both of Abbeville. Bridesmaids were Heather Grounsell-Sink of Taylors, Sheila Sparks Pressley of Due West, Tara Elizabeth Taylor of Gaffney, Shanna Elizabeth Taylor, Erin Leigh Moss, Anne Marie McNeil, Cady Nell West and Lindsey Suzanne Sammons, all of Abbeville.
Sara Elizabeth Sears of Abbeville was flower girl.
The bride wore a formal gown of white matte satin featuring a strapless fitted bodice adorned with hand beading at the dropped waistline. The full box pleated skirt flowed into a chapel-length train.
Her veil of white illusion was caught by a small tiara of antique scrolls highlighted with rhinestones and pearls.
The bridesmaids wore formal, two-piece gowns in lavender featuring a scoop neckline flowing into a deep V back. The sleeveless bodice was accented by a row of iridescent bugle beads and topped a floor-length, A-line skirt.
Keith Phillips Grounsell of Mauldin was best man.
Groomsmen were Lamar T. West Sr. of Abbeville, Hugh “Rocky” Dill, Steven Marc Jones, Richard Lee Grounsell, all of Greenville, Robert Carlton Sink of Taylors, Brent Grounsell McDonald of Columbia, Joseph Farrell Miller and Robert Donald Lentz, both of Mauldin. Ringbearer was Christian Campbell Lewis of Abbeville.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Gatewood Club.
After a wedding trip to Litchfield, the couple will live in Abbeville.

Wedding music was presented by Larry Freeland, Crystal Byrd, and Edith Thompson, all of Greenwood.
The bride is the daughter of Alan Maxwell and Jane Maxwell. She graduated from Emerald High School in 1999 and is a student at Lander University.
The bridegroom is the son of Carl Parkman and Robbie Chafin. A 1995 graduate of Greenwood High School, he is employed at Capsugel.
Jennifer Thompson of Greenwood was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Nikki Davis and Rozalyn DeVore, both of Greenwood.
Amanda Hodges of Donalds was flower girl.
The bride wore a formal, sleeveless gown of white satin featuring a modified sweetheart neckline enhanced with jeweled lace motifs. Matching motifs embellished the bodice flowing into a ballgown skirt with jeweled lace highlights.
Her elbow-length veil of illusion featured white lace accents.
The attendants wore informal, spring-style dresses in a variety of colors.
Jody N. Parkman of Greenwood was best man.
Groomsmen were Billy Wells and Taylor Hall, both of Ninety Six.
Ushers were Daniel Bradley and Joseph Bradley, both of Hickory Tavern.
Austin Hodges of Donalds was ringbearer.
A reception was at the church.
After a wedding trip to Helen, Ga., the couple will live at Wildwood Mobile Home Park in Greenwood.

Smith-Carruth

GREENWOOD – Dorothy Elizabeth Smith of Hodges and James Luther Carruth of Greenwood were married during a 2 p.m. ceremony Saturday at Grendel Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. James Tollison of Greenwood.
Wedding music was presented by Samantha Wren and Judy Hollingsworth, both of Greenwood. The bride is the daughter of the late Johnny and Mary Nabors. She graduated from Greenwood High School and is employed at at the Chalmers Plant of Greenwood Mills.
The bridegroom is the son of the late Charlie and Johnnie Mae Carruth. He attended schools in Bowman, Ga.,and is retired.
Donna Whatley of Greenwood was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Donna Hilf and Darlene Oliver, both of Greenwood.
Junior Bridesmaids were Beth Oliver, Tosha Whatley, Samantha Whatley, all of Greenwood, and Morgan Smith of Morganton, N.C.
The bride, escorted down the aisle by Tony Smith of Woodruff and Terry Smith of Morganton, wore a formal, intermezzo-length gown in lilac accented with embroidered violets. Keith Carruth of Greenwood was best man.
Junior groomsmen were Ray Hilf of Greenwood, David Smith of Morganton, Joshua Smith and Kaleb Smith, both of Woodruff.
Ushers were Lisa Hilf and Karen Hilf, both of Greenwood.
Kathy Oliver of Greenwood was an acolyte.
A reception was at the church.
After a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple will live on U.S. Highway 25 North in Hodges.

GREENWOOD – Deana Lynn Garner and Jason Philip Eppley, both of Greenwood, were married during a 4 p.m. ceremony Saturday at North Side Baptist Church in Greenwood by the Rev. Dr. Jeffery K. Lethco and the Rev. J. Steven Watson, both of Greenwood.
Wedding music was presented by John Cooper, Kay DeBlaey, Julie Dykes, and Edith Thompson, all of Greenwood.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Wayne Garner of Greenwood. She is also the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Donald Perry and Mr. and Mrs. James Bennett Rogers, all of Greenwood.
She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1991 and from Clemson University in 1995 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. She is a civil engineer at Davis & Floyd Inc. in Greenwood.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Lee Eppley of Taylors. He is also the grandson of Louise Lance Holzman of Landrum.
He graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1989 and from Clemson University in 1993 with a bachelor of science degree and, in 1995 with a master’s degree in civil engineering. He is a professional engineer and associate of Davis & Floyd Inc. in Greenwood.
Matron of honor was Lorie Eldridge Blackmon of Mountville.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer Lea Bragg of Clinton, Angela Renee Eddy of Inman, Tiffany Rae Johnson of Ridgeland, Miss., and Heather Marie Rogers of Hodges.
The bride wore a formal strapless gown of diamond white matte Italian satin. The bodice was accented by cascading crystal and pearl beading and the back featured self-fabric covered buttons. The box-pleated skirt flowed to a semi-cathedral length train.
Her two-tiered, elbow length veil of diamond white French tulle was caught by a headpiece highlighted with pearls and bugle beads.
The attendants wore formal, floor length gowns of ocean mist dulciana satin and chiffon featuring a bateau neckline and bodice enhanced with a sheer embossed leaf motif.
Philip Lee Eppley was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Preston Trent Garner of Greenwood, Andrew Slater Hill of Mechanicsville, Va., Michael Foster Andersen, Michael Vandiver Horton, and Andrew Douglas Stohs, all of Mt. Pleasant.
The bride’s parents were hosts for a reception at the Greenwood Woman’s Club.
After a wedding trip to Edisto Island, the couple will live at 1018 Ninety Six Highway in Greenwood.

Lois B. Watson of Greenwood, pianist, and Mary Hall of Hodges, vocalist, presented wedding music.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul J. Brown of Hodges. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1995 and from Columbia College in 1999. She is employed with the South Carolina Medical Association in Columbia.
The bridegroom is the son of John E. Altman Jr. of Columbia and Patricia L. Gibson of Spartanburg. A 1993 graduate of Irmo High School, he graduated from the University of South Carolina. He is employed with J.W. Hunt & Co. in Columbia.
Marlana Hope Brown of Hodges was maid of honor.
Matron of honor was Tanya Altman O’Brien of Columbia.
Bridesmaids were Christy Lloyd Davis of Johnson City, Tenn., Marina Brittan Farr of Charleston, Barbara Faith Ford of Greenville, Amy Aga Simpson of Abbeville, Beth Saxon George and Julie Thomas Steinberg, both of Greenwood.
Honorary bridesmaids were April Dawn Kelley of Columbia and Erin Elizabeth Yandell of Hodges.
John E. Altman Jr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Christopher Scott Altman of Spartanburg, Shawn Christopher Barney of Lebanon, Ind., David Britt Campbell of Newberry, Matthew David Guyette of Due West, Patrick Michael O’Brien of Columbia and Stewart Barret Samples of Lexington.
The bride’s parents were hosts for a reception at Stoney Point Golf Club.
After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple will live in Lexington.

GREENWOOD – Cynthia Anne Clegg of Greenwood and Robert Norman Davies of Greer were married during a 5 p.m. ceremony Saturday at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Greenwood by the Rev. Peter W. Hawes of Greenwood and Rev. Thomas C. Davis Jr. of Clemson.
Wedding music was presented by Donna Brooks of Greenwood, organist, and Daniel Greene of Greenville, bagpiper.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Joe Clegg of 1340 Calhoun Road in Greenwood. A graduate of Greenwood High School, she graduated from the College of Charleston’s Honor College with a bachelor’s degree in history and from the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in library and information science. She is college webmaster and librarian at Piedmont Technical College.
The bridegroom is the son of Norman James Davies of Higher Bebington, England and the late Thelma Marie Davies. He graduated from Wirral Grammar School and the University of Liverpool with a degree in finance. He is general manager for Low and Bonar in Williamston.
Susan Nicole Grogan of Greenwood was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Shannon Dawn Turner of Greenville, Diana Grier Miles of Winston Salem, N.C., Elizabeth Carpenter McGuire of Charleston, Carmen Miller Kinney and Andrea Richardson Scott, both of Greenwood.
The bride wore a formal, sleeveless gown of embroidered ivory dulciana satin and French tulle featuring a jewel neckline flowing into a deep V back. Rows of seed pearls accented the fitted bodice at the neckline and waistline. Hand-beaded embroidered flowers embellished the bodice highlighting a full, ballgown skirt of French tulle. The skirt was enhanced at the hemline with double bands of matching satin and flowed into a semi-cathedral-length train.
Her two tiered, fingertip-length veil of French illusion featured ribbons accents and was caught by a bunwrap embellished with pearls and rhinestones.
The bridesmaids wore formal, two-piece gowns of sage knit and dulciana satin. The sleeveless shimmer knit bodice featured a jewel neckline and topped an A-line, floor-length satin skirt. Self-fabric covered buttons enhanced the back bodice.
Best men were the bridegroom’s father and Stephen James Davies of Higher Bebington. Groomsmen were Simon Walter Garner of Greenwood and Norwich, England, Robert Allen Grogan of Greenwood, Douglas Brian Linn of San Jose, Calif., and Gary Dwayne Mobley of Ithaca, N.Y.
The bride’s parents were hosts for a reception at The Inn on the Square.
After a wedding trip to Paris, France, the couple will live at 212 Ticonderoga Drive in Greer.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Walton Mewbourn of Lexington. She is also the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Christopher Young of Greenwood, the late Thomas Clinton Mewbourn and Mrs. Emma Mewbourn. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and is employed with The State newspaper. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Lide Jr. of Irmo. He is also the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry N. Sloan, the late Lessie S. Lide and William M. Lide Sr. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he is employed with Image Productions. Maid of honor was Jennifer Chapman of Lexington. Attendants were Sarah Gause, Skye Stoker, both of Columbia, and Noelle Wriston of Lexington. Flowers girls were Hayden Sloan Smith and Courtney Lynn Smith, both of Irmo. Best man was the bridegroom’s father. Groomsmen were Stuart Kearse, William M. Lide III, the bridegroom’s brother, and Russell Mewbourn. The bride’s parents were hosts for a reception at Wintergreen Woods. After a wedding trip to Asheville, the couple will live in Columbia.

ABBEVILLE – Tricia Dawn McGee of Abbeville and Derrick Benjamin Smith of Ninety Six were married during a 6 p.m. ceremony May 5, 2001 at Main Street Methodist Church in Abbeville by the Rev. Steven Crittendon of Ninety Six.
Yvonne Simpson, vocalist, and Tom South, both of Abbeville, presented wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGee of Abbeville. She graduated from Abbeville High School and is employed with Little River Electric Cooperative in Abbeville.
The bridegroom is the son of Mary Ann Smith of Ninety Six and the late Clyde Duane Smith. He graduated from Ninety Six High School and from Piedmont Technical College with an associates degree in criminal justice. He is employed with the County of Greenwood Sheriff’s Department and is a member of the Greenwood County Dive Team.
Lindsi Windham of Columbia was maid of honor.
Matron of honor was Tammie Wideman of Greenwood, the bride’s sister.
Bridesmaids were Lelia Smith of Ninety Six, Hope Davis of Greenwood, Elizabeth Hanks of Lexington, and Erica Burnett of Boiling Springs.
The bride wore a formal white gown featuring a court neckline and tank-style bodice enhanced with jeweled Alencon lace appliques. The deep U-shaped back was accented with a bow flowing the length of the chapel-length train. The A-line, ballgown skirt was highlighted with matching jeweled lace appliques.
The attendants wore formal, floor-length gowns in a rainbow palette of periwinkle, banana, and celedon featuring sweetheart necklines, satin bodices, and an empire waistline highlighted with jeweled lace trim. A deep plunging U-shaped back accented the matching A-line skirt and flowing train.
Rodney Smith of Ninety Six, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man.
Groomsmen were Todd Stewart of Spartanburg, William Kinney of Hodges, David Hanks of Lexington, and Bobby Grogan of Greenwood.
Chase Calvert of Greenwood and Rory Smith of Ninety Six were junior groomsmen.
A reception at the Masonic Lodge in Abbeville was hosted by the bride’s parents.
After a wedding trip to Garden City, the couple will live in Ninety Six.
