William “Glen” Ferguson, Jr.
ABBEVILLE, SC – William “Glen” Ferguson, Jr., 85, resident of 3755 Hwy. 28 North, widower of Frances Sutherland Ferguson, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Abbeville Co. Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, SC, he was a son of the late William Glen Sr. and Lillian Irene Campbell Ferguson.
He was a retired Disabled veteran of World War II and a watchman with Bloomsburg Mills. He was also a member of Little Mountain Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are: a daughter, Carolyn Crook and her husband Barry, Abbeville, SC; a stepson, Rev. James Long, Abbeville, SC; 3 stepdaughters, Barbara Ann Brown, Greenwood, SC; Sarah Arnold, Abbeville, SC; Nancy Tollison, Abbeville, SC; a sister, Irene Ferguson, Abbeville, SC; a granddaughter, April Sutton and her husband, Jerry, Abbeville, SC; 3 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Devin and Sydney Sutton.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 2, 2004 at 2:00 PM from Little MountainPresbyterian Church with the Revs. John Parks and James Long officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military rites.
The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday evening. The family is at the home, 3755 Hwy. 28 North, Abbeville, SC.

ABBEVILLE — Ruth Blum McDonald, 84, of No. 303 Abbeville Arms Apartments, widow of James “Ted” McDonald, died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Nancy Culbreth Blum. She was a retired textile employee with Abbeville Mills and also retired from the payroll department at Goodrich Inc. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, James ‘Ted’ McDonald Jr. of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter, Nancy Brown of Fairfax, Va.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Darren Hook and Billy Osborne. Burial is in Melrose Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.

Roy James Tweed
NINETY SIX – Roy James Tweed, 91, of 96 Kitson Street, husband of Grace Roach Tweed, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Marshall, NC; a son of the late Elisha and Sophronia Ellington Tweed. He was formerly employed with the Greenwood Housing Authority. He was a member of Woodfields Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters Martha Tweed and Bruce Fox of Marshall, NC and Joyce Tweed Kyzer of Ninety Six; a son Jim and Sandra Tweed of Weaverville NC; sister Leta Tweed Reed of Marshall, NC; six grandchildren Michael and Ronda Briggs, Jennifer and Charles Myers, Joi Kyzer, Heidi and Kyle Lusk, Eric and Ashley Tweed, and Alex Tweed; two step grandchildren Kathy and Tom Behtz and Carol Fox; seven great-grandchildren Sarah Briggs, Weldon Briggs, Morgan Briggs, Patrick Myers, Jaclyn Myers, Declan Lusk and Julia Lusk; and two step great-grandchildren Emily and Erin Behtz.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Justice and Rev. Sherman Tweed officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Briggs, Eric Tweed, Alex Tweed, Charles Myers, Kyle Lusk, and Ron Pratt.
Honorary escorts will be Billy Hilley, Robert Lewis, Charles Turner, Bobby Norris, Craig Maddox, Bobby Holiday, and Hosey Adams.
The body is at Harley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Earle Wilson
GREENWOOD – Lloyd Earle Wilson, 74, resident of 129 Amherst Dr., husband of Catherine Corley Wilson, died June 29, 2004, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, August 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Lloyd Robinson and Bertha Anderson Wilson. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School. Mr. Wilson was president of Sligh & Wilson, Inc. in Greenwood. He formerly served IN the Abbeville Unit of the National Guard.
A member of Main Street United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Featherstone Sunday School Class and was a member and past president of the Greenwood Uptown Merchants Association. He was a former member of the Greenwood Jaycees and the Greenwood Rotary Club.
For Mr. Wilson’s entire life, he was known as a friend to the Greenwood business community and his love for the people of Greenwood.
Mr. Wilson was the last member of his immediate family and is survived by his wife of the home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Dennis and Rev. Sandra King officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
The family is at the home in Cherokee Hills and will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 til 11:00 Friday morning and immediately following the chapel service.

Ronelle Williams Drayton
GEORGETOWN – Ronelle Williams Drayton, 84, died Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet.
Mrs. Drayton was born in the Center Community of Georgetown County on September 14, 1919, a daughter of the late Rock Williams and Janie Gunter Williams. She attended Georgetown Co. schools and Horry-Georgetown Technical College. Mrs. Drayton was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed by Georgetown Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are: two sons, Everette Drayton and his wife Patsy and Jimmy Drayton and his wife Johnette, all of Florence; four daughters, Betty McElveen and Jenelle Fulton and her husband Tommy, all of Georgetown, Carol Barker and her husband Ronnie of Houston, Tex. and Marilyn Blake of Greenwood; a sister, Esther Faye Eaddy of Hemingway, fifteen grandchil-dren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Drayton was prede-ceased by her husband Mathew Drayton; three grandchildren, Christopher Drayton, Bryan Drayton, and Melanie Fulton; a great-grandchild, Sommer Lyle; and two brothers, Marvin Williams and Pink Williams.
Funeral services will be two o’clock Saturday afternoon, July 3, 2004 at First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill and the Rev. Dr. Ronald G. Dillon. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Mary Harrison
Mary Hodges Harrison, 81, of 504 Lodge Drive, wife of William H. Harrison, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late James Bailey and Margaret Marbert Hodges. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Henry Reynolds Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Perrin H. Rutter of Moran, Wyo.; two sons, William H. Harrison Jr. of Johns Island and James H. Harrison of Columbia; a sister, Marjorie H. West of Moncks Corner; 6 grandchildren.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Revs. David Mayo and Hal West. A private family burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Honorary escorts are members of the Henry Reynolds Sunday School Class, along with Gordon Bailes, George Ballentine, Nell Squires, Murray Good, Douglas Good and Mary Wideman.
Visitation is in the church social hall after the service.

PLUM BRANCH — Services for Charles L. Johnson are 1 p.m. Saturday at Hosannah Baptist Church, Modoc, conducted by the Rev. Herman Lyons. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews, and nieces are flower bearers.
An additional survivor is a sister, Willie M. McCain of North Augusta.

Thomas Goode Johnson
GREENVILLE — Thomas Charles “Boy” Goode Johnson, of 18 Rebecca St., widower of Jonelle Carroll Goode, died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Thomas Johnson and Ida L. Goode Thomas.
Survivors include a daughter, Katherine Glenn of Greenwood; a son, Willie C. Goode of Atlanta; a brother, Freddie L. Thomas of Baltimore; three stepdaughters, Eva M. Williams, Patricia A. Booker and Robbin Archie, all of Greenville; three stepsons, Perry Gambell, Boyce L. Gambell and Timmis L. Gambell, all of Greenville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, Epworth, with the Rev. Charles A. Browning officiating and the Rev. Clyde Cannon presiding. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Perry Gambell, Jerry Latimore, Mitch Austin, Sammie Downs and friends of the family.
Flower bearers are Shirley Leverette, Ruth Caldwell, Dorothy Williams, Shirley Ladson, Claudia Massey and Caroline Rodgers.
The family is at the home of a granddaughter, India Mills, 822 Reynolds Ave., Greenwood.

Barbara Manning
CALHOUN FALLS, SC – Barbara Jane Gregory Manning, 68, of 18 Fairway Drive, Calhoun Falls, SC, died July 1, 2004, in the Anderson Area Medical Center, Anderson, SC.
Born in Griffin, GA, she was a daughter of the late James Aldean and Ida Jane Gregory. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church.
Her husband was the late Charles Wesley Manning.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Fay and Harold Campbell of Abbeville, SC; one brother, Ronnie Gregory of Griffin, GA, and one grandson, Jay Campbell. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dwayne Gregory, and two sisters, Shirley Bowers and Mary Bannister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Northside Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Dalton and Rev. Brian Hatchett officiating. Burial will be in Latimer Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Calhoun Falls Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Northside Baptist Church, Calhoun Falls, SC, or the Deric Hanna Foundation at the Capital Bank in Abbeville, SC.

Dendy M. Stanton
WARE SHOALS — Dendy M. Stanton, 73, of 6 Oak St., widower of Alma Jean Medlin Stanton, died Thursday, July 1, 2004 at his home.
Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Milledge and Vera Poore Stanton. He was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle Fellowship and the Quarter Century Club of Riegel Textile Corp. He retired from four years active service and 36 years in the National Guard.
Survivors include five daughters, Hope Hollingsworth, Rosemary Lake, Vicki Freeman and Debbie Miller, all of Ware Shoals, Ann Bowlin of Stony Point, N.C.; a brother, Junior Stanton of Laurens; two half sisters, Helen Gambrell and Mary Frances Moore, both of Belton; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Full Gospel Tabernacle Fellowship, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Branch. Burial with full military rites is in Ware Shoals Cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Grant White, of 2524 Lone Oak Drive, formerly of Honea Path, S.C., died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Middle Tennessee Hospital.
He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church, Honea Path.
Survivors include a sister, Pearl Sherod of Murfreesboro; five brothers, Robert Black and Walter White, both of Honea Path, Theodore Hawthorne of Ware Shoals, S.C., Claude White of Anderson, S.C., and Roosevelt White of Detroit; a niece and caretaker of the home, Sandra Harkless.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at New Friendship Baptist Church, 3298 Keowee Road, Honea Path, conducted by the Rev. William Cox. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
