Pauline C. Edwards
Pauline Crawford Edwards, 83, formerly of 110 Lupo Drive, widow of Henry Edwards, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Anna Marie Nursing Home, North Augusta.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Broadus S. and Paralee Madden Crawford. She was a homemaker and a member of Marshall Road Church of God. She was predeceased by her husbands, first to the late Sanford Lawrence, second to the late Shannon Lawrence, third to the late Troy Kirkland.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Crawford of Greenwood, Jean Fulmer of Greenwood; a son, David Lawrence of Hodges; a brother, Charles R. Crawford of Hodges; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Edgewood Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Sam Smith.
Pallbearers are Bobbie Boone, Danny Shubert, Allen Fulmer, Ben Fulmer, David Hartley, Brandon Hartley, Albert Calliham, Jamie Crawford and Cleve Crawford.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home, 110 Lupo Drive.

COLUMBIA — Rev. Kelvin Arnett Harts of 2308 Adam St., died Saturday, June 28, 2003.

McCORMICK — Adam Jennings of White Town Road, died Sunday, June 29, 2003.
Services will be announced by Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton, Ga.

Services for Sidney Mayes Jr. of 147 Hackett St. are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Greene. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Roscoe McManus, Alphonso Morgan and friends of the family.
Flower bearers are friends of the family.

Bryson McGuire
BRADLEY — Bryson Wayne McGuire, infant son of Brandon McGuire and Britney Loftis, died Friday, June 27, 2003 in Augusta, Ga.
Surviving in addition to the parents of Bradley; maternal grandparents the late Douglas F. Loftis, and Jackie and Crystal Mooney of Bradley; paternal grandparents the late Darrel G. McGuire, and Michael Kitch and Dana McGuire of Bradley; paternal great-grandparents Donna Smith and the late Butch Brown, and Wayne and Pauline McGuire of Joplin, Missouri; maternal great-grandparents Carl and Joyce Barnes Disedare of McCormick, Mike and Flora Crouch of Saluda, Tommy Bearden of Greenwood, Robert and Shirley Giles of Greenwood, and Jimmy and Becky Loftis of Abbeville.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Mooney and Joshua McGuire.
Honorary escorts will be Chris Bearden and Brandon Winchester.
The body is at Harley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. and from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family will be at the home of Jackie and Crystal Mooney, 2022 Five Notch Road, Bradley.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Myrtis E. ‘Vi’ Miller
CLARKS HILL — Myrtis E. “Vi” Miller, 76, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at her home.
Born in Atlanta, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Essie Jane Smith. She was owner of Smith’s Grocery in Clarks Hill and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include a son, Allen Miller of Augusta; three sisters, Beulah Lynn, Mary Lotz, both of Augusta and Louise Newman of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be announced by Strom Funeral Home.

Lillian J. Pritchett
Lillian Jeanine Pritchett, 64, of 607 Grace St., died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Pritchett was married to E.W. “Sonny” Pritchett for 43 years. She was a daughter of the late Lemon Roy and Lois Eberdeen Anglin Prewett.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son and daughter, John S. “Sandy” Pritchett, and Elizabeth “Liz” Elaine Prewett, both of Greenwood; a brother and three sisters, John Prewett of Savannah, GA, Margie Gervais and Laverne Prewett, both of California, and Iris Pierce of Atlanta, Ga.
Predeceased: parents; a brother, Ernest Prewett; and two sisters, Betty Robinson and Gloria Deckner.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at Harley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and relatives following the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

SALUDA — Daniel Willis, 62, of 113 Barr Woods Road, died Saturday, June 28, 2003.
Services will be announced by Ramey Funeral Home.

Marianne Burgess
Marianne Bond Burgess, 73, of 206 Autumn Trace, widow of William Scurry Burgess, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Bryant and Pauline Willis Bond. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy B. Andrews of Camden, Katherine B. Fabre of Baton Rouge, La., and Patricia B. Smith of Sundance, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday in Oakbrook Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Cartledge.
Visitation is graveside after the services.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

Sidney G. Johnston
GREENSBORO, NC — Sidney G. Johnston, 80, former resident of Rocky Mount, passed away in the Hospice Care Unit at Moses Cone Hospital on July 1, in Greensboro, NC. Mr. Johnston was born in Littleton, North Carolina, son of the late George Morris and Irene Johnston. Mr. Johnston graduated from East Carolina University and was an auditor with the North Carolina Revenue Department for 31 years. He served as a Signalman in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Johnston was the beloved husband of Mary Arrington Johnston, his wife of 55 years. A son, Sid G. Johnston, Jr. of Greenwood, South Carolina and daughter, Betty Jo Traub of Greensboro, North Carolina, also survive him. Their spouses are Lynn H. Johnston and Paul W. Traub. His grandchildren include S. Gordon Johnston, III, of Charlotte, step-grandson Harrison Ellinwood of High Point and granddaughters, Lauren Traub and Elizabeth Traub of Greensboro. Brothers Bynum D. Johnston, Johnny D. Johnston, George R. Johnston and Eugene Johnston predeceased him.
Mr. Johnston was a member of Englewood Methodist Church of Rocky Mount for 47 years and served as Assistant Church Treasurer, President of the Men’s Club and a member of the Church Board. He was a former member and officer of the Lions Club of Rocky Mount. Services will be held for Mr. Johnston on July 3 at Englewood United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount, NC. The Reverend George A. Jones, Pastor of the church, will conduct services. Bobby Mears, church leader, will assist him. Mr. Johnston will be buried in Bethlehem Cemetery at Arcola, North Carolina. The family requests that all remembrances be made in Mr. Johnston’s memory to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summitt Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405. The family would like to express special gratitude to the medical staff at Duke University Medical Center and particularly Dr. John Gockerman and Ms. Heather Brumbaugh.
Pallbearers will be S. Gordon Johnston, III, Robert H. Arrington, Jr., Michael Satterfield, Scott Satterfield, J. Edgar Moore Esq. and John Hardy. Honorary Pallbearers include Jack Bobbitt, Dr. Boone Grant, Pat Ezzell and Dr. Bobby Jones.
Service will be held Thursday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at Englewood Methodist Church, Rocky Mount, NC, with visitation immediately follow-ing. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Arcola, NC.

Roy Owen
Roy Adkisson Owen, 88, of The Tree House, Wesley Commons, husband of Julie Goodwyn Owen, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at Wesley Commons Health Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Leland P. and Louise Adkisson Owen. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Bailey Military Academy and The Citadel. He obtained the rank of captain during World War II, where he served in the Southwest Pacific in the 41st Fighter Squadron flying P-39 and P-47 fighter planes. He retired as vice president of Greenwood Savings and Loan. A member and former deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, he also served as an elder and treasurer of the church. He was a former member of the Greenwood Rotary Club and Greenwood Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Roy A. Owen Jr. of Greenwood; and a grandson.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Thursday in Edgewood Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Joe Walker and the Rev. Carol Peppers Wray.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Ruth Price
WARE SHOALS — Ruth Frazier Price, 83, widow of Hershel Price, died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at National Health Care of Laurens.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Sara Wardlaw Frazier. She attended Good Hope Baptist Church and was retired.
Survivors include a son, Matthew Frazier of Hodges; a daughter, Willie Mae Frazier of Brooklyn; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home. Burial is in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Hodges.
The family is at the home of her son, Matthew Frazier, 1202 Shirley Road, Hodges.
Robinson-Walker Funeral Service is in charge.

Jack Smith
Jack Smith, 75, of 127 Lawton St., husband of Doris Rinehart Smith, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, Ga.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.

Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home.

W. Walter Spearman
NINETY SIX — William Walter “Walt” Spearman, 87, of Island Ford Road, widower of Nell Boozer Spearman, died Monday, June 30, 2003.
A native of Anderson, he was a son of the late William and Fannie Coker Spearman. He retired from Greenwood Mills with 46 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. An Army World War II veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 103, a ham radio operator and a member of Cambridge United Methodist Church for 50 years.
Survivors include a son, Allen Spearman of Ninety Six.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery, Ninety Six.
Friends may call at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.

Ruth Buffington
NINETY SIX — Mary Ruth Buffington, 77, of 337 Mill Cabin Road, widow of Robert S. Buffington, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Robert Edward and Sadie Ruth Edwards Cogdill. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Thompson of Greenville, Dessie Stevens of Ninety Six and Sadie Smith of Greenwood; a son, Paul Edward Thompson of Greenwood; two stepdaughters, Darlene Buffington and Karen Buffington, both of Greenwood; three sisters, Marion Cothran and Betty Stewart, both of Greenwood and Cecile Lepard of Athens, Ga.; four brothers, Ray Cogdill, Curtis Cogdill, Blease Cogdill and Charles Cogdill, all of Greenwood; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Friday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jason McCary. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons Tim Stevens, Brent Stevens, Travas Hadden, Clint Hadden, Chip Cockrell, Skip Cockrell, Preston Thompson and Jody Thompson.
Honorary escorts are her granddaughters.
Visitation is 1-2 Friday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her son, Ed Thompson, 209 Woodlawn St., Greenwood.
